The staff was really friendly and quick to help serve everyone. I love the environment and the look that the diner has. I wish I wouldve taken a picture of the food because its presentation was so cute. The food was too good, Im just sad that they were out of Ratatouille by 12 but thats ok! Thats only a reason to come back earlier next time. You must try their dessert as well!! The cheesecake, red velvet and lemon cake are to die for and the chocolate chips cookies are a must!
Clean and cozy. Good food. Recommend lemonchino cake. Very good! Friendly staff. Worth the travel from Dallas. Thank you Chet Garner - Day Tripper for recommending.
Great service. Located within walking distance of many pleasant shops. Food delicious n reasonable price
Nice little diner. Food was fresh and great! Friendly staff
Must try. Get the biscuits toasted with honey. Thank me later
This is a historic drugstore/doda fountain location in downtown Corsicana, TX. We had the nicest waitress offering soda fountain suggestions. We settled on the ever popular banana split. Picture yourself at the counter when the establishment opened in 1905. Oil is discovered nearby and Wolf Brand Chili is introduced at the small stand outside the front door. So much history in the area.
You cant go wrong here. Delightful little restaurant. Prime grade steaks. We ordered delmonico steaks, crab cakes, escargot, stuffed grape leave, cheese ravioli. Escargot could have used more flavor but was tender. Everything else was top notch. Ive eaten in some of the finest steaks house across the country and to find this gem is fantastic. Superb service and attentive staff. Would recommend. Ill be back ALoha
Stopped in here for breakfast on our way to the gulf coast. We had a pleasant experience here. The menu and food was good, service was excellent and atmosphere comfortable.
Absolutely loved this place. We found it by accident being 300 miles from home on a trip to visit family, and had great food and friendly service. My 4th grade daughter even ran into a school friend and his family there traveling in a different direction. Their Ranch Dressing was amazing too!
This place brings back many memories of years gone by. Had a great breakfast with my brother. The food was super, prepared to perfection, only to be outdone by the great service. This is truly a dont miss.
Breakfast was great! The waitress was very attentive and very good at her job. Highly recommend.
Very nice little diner. The food was good and the staff was very friendly. They close at 4:00pm, then at 5:00 the bistro opens for dinner. Well be going back to try that next.
Great hidden jam of a restaurant. Great food, staff, and customers. Yes, even the customers were friendly. I highly recommend! Had a great time dining.
Wow! Just wow! Was in town for three nights and ate three of my meals here. Absolutely delicious, excellent service and the chef is awesome! You all were the best part of our stay!
This place is so wonderful and peaceful. The service was also professional and fast and friendly. We travel through here all the time now this will be our breakfast stop everytime. Keep up the great work guys!
Food was fantastic just not enough of it to satisfy a working mans appetite. Just right for my wife though. Service was prompt and friendly.
My girlfriend and I stopped in here for some Saturday brunch while passing through on our way home to Austin. Everything on the menu looked delicious. She finally settled on the eggs benedict and I got the Texas grilled cheese. The food was incredible. Would definitely stop in again to try the rest of the menu!
Very good - the chef is excellent! Enjoyed the experience very much. Thank you! Will visit again.
In town for the morning. Great breakfast, great bacon, great spot and employees. Would seek this place out for breakfast again if within 50 miles.
In the heart of Corsicana, TX you will find what is arguably the most fun breakfast joint in the city. The interior is a throwback to the malt shops which were popular several decades ago, and while many such places are gone or have been transformed, this diner has kept its charm. The food is hot, plenty, and inexpensive. The little town is worth a visit if you are traveling through, make sure you stop and have a home cooked breakfast!
Nice, old dinner feel. It wasnt like eating at a 5 star restaurant. Its a diner. The monte cristo is really good, but this last time I got the gyro. That was nice and enjoyable, with a side of slaw (heavy with vinegar) and a chocolate malt to wash it all down. All around a pleasant place to go. Average $10 a meal minus drinks.
Food was excellent! Busy but everybody was super friendly!
My waitress Hailey was the greatest server I have had in a long while
Private party experience for a brunch. Completely separate room from the diner with a totally different vibe. Classy, upscale ambience with a lovely bar. Outstanding charcuterie boards, appetizers, brunch entrees, and desserts. Out of the ordinary cocktails. Impressive place with good service and attention to detail.
Very good. Food was great and staff very attentive
Very cute little bistro and bar in an historic building. Had the monte Cristo and it was delicious. Service was great.
The food is very good, service is very good. Had a burger and onion rings. My daughter had popcorn chicken, mashed potatoes and fruit, and she liked it. She is having a ice cream Sunday right now and enjoying it. It is huge in a classic thick drugstore decorative glass. I recommend this place, if you are in town, or taking a pit stop off interstate 45. It is in old historic part of town no to far out the way if traveling.
Stopped for brunch on Saturday with my wife, waited 5 minutes for a table. Got our drinks quickly (water and tea) and a waitress took our order. An hour later we were watching other people get their food when they came in after us. No one stopped at our table for an hour.. finally someone came up and asked if we have been waiting longer than 30 minutes for our food. Yes, waited over an hour! Come to find out our order never went through. Another 20 minutes later we got our order and it wasnβt even all of what we ordered. We were over it. No one came to apologize and no one came to refill our drinks. We waited for the ticket but no one came over so we got up ourselves and had to ask the guy to take off our missing food. He apologized, saying the kitchen was busy but every table was full when we got there and hardly anyone was there when we got our food/left. We tried to explain to him what the waitress told us but he didnβt do anything. We left and wonβt come back.
One of the best places for breakfast and brunch (on the weekends). Havent been yet for lunch, but sure it is just as good. I would recommend the Scrambler sandwich! My favorite thing off the menu!
I have been here before and really liked the food even though service was kinda slow for the number of customers they had. So today I was excited to bring my husband for the first time. We were seated right away and there were more customers than last time but still a few empty tables...and 3 waitresses...in a restaurant with less than 20 tables. We got our drinks right away....Then proceeded to wait for 20 minutes to get our order taken...which never happened. No one came by and said theyd be with us soon or anything. I told my husband if they didnt come by before we finished our drinks, we were leaving. At 20 minutes, our waitress was at the register with 3 groups of people to cash out and we gave up. Even if she had taken our order after helping those people, there was no telling how much longer till we got our food. We left money on the table to cover the drinks and left. I might go back someday because the food is good, but service was terrible. And in case the excuse is lack of staff, it wasnt that. None of the waitresses had a sense of urgency. They meandered around taking their time doing whatever they were doing. Ive seen restaurants that size with 2 waitresses who managed just fine because they hustled. Also, the 2 older waitresses (not ours) were super grumpy. I think the staff needs to be retrained or replaced. They are killing your business.
Nice atmosphere. I stopped in for a weekday breakfast. Pretty standard fare but I asked for a couple of mods which were no problem. Id go back
Great atmosphere, Great service, and the best chicken salad sandwich around. And the other food is equally good.
Best chicken salad plate in have ever had. All of their other dishes are great too!
Great service, good classic breakfast experience amazing bacon.
Diner atmosphere but disappointing. Could tell staff was exasperated with customers. My Monte Christi sandwich was cold in the middle. when we finally got the attention of waitress she did take the sandwich back and eventually brought me a fresh one that was warm in the middle. But without the french fries that I had still left on my plate. My boyfriend had totally finished his sandwich before my Monte Cristo even got taken back to be replaced. So we actually didnt get to eat lunch together! not impressed
The turkey melt was good and the onion rings were ok. Key lime pie was excellent. The restaurant was just like when I was a kid. Always like it.
Good atmosphere, poor service and quality.
This place was easy to find, the staff was friendly, and the food came out fast and hot. Real good.
We had a larger party and everyone had a nice time and the food was well prepared. The tomato soup was a little sour or overheated, but everything else was very good.
I loved this trip down memory lane. Great food lovely staff. Next time Ill try the bistro next door.
Wonderful find, great food, staff and atmosphere. Will visit again and refer anyone looking for a good place to eat in old Corsicana.
The food is wonderful, but customer service seems to be lacking. My mom, sister, and nieces were in town so we decided to eat here. We ended up waiting over an hour for our food with no explanation as to why. My nieces are age 6 & 3 and they were getting cranky/hungry. When we asked the owner if we could at least get the girlsβ food she replied βwell you already asked us to box it up to goβ in the most annoyed tone a person can have.Like I said, the food is great. I will still order takeout from here, but I will never dine-in again.
Smart restaurant in old town building.. solid food and service
Charming old town cafe with down home service and delicious food.
Great service, great food - nice glass of cabernet with the tomato soup - chocolate cream pie is big enough to share -
Foods always excellent. Waitress was pretty good but the older lady behind the counter stood there watching me eat. Kinda creepy lol. Other than that pretty darn good place to eat.
Chicken fried steak was deliciously hand breaded. Mashed potatoes were lumpy indicating NOT instant! Onion rings were lightly battered & crispy. Creamy gravy was sweet & rich made with milk & real dairy butter .......just like my moms. The early 1900s drugstore fountain with counter, tables & booths and original decorative floor tile reminded me of my experiences eating at a drug store counter in the 1950s. The server squirts Dr. Pepper syrup (with cane sugar) into the glass then adding carbonated water & stirring was a window into the past! The way it started in Waco, Texas in the 1880s.
Amazing food with a famous chef.
Stopped to have lunch in the way back from a school trip. The food was so delicious! Great variety of food and the staff was wonderfulπ
Very good food. Excellent service. Ill be back.
Good food nice service
Good food, friendly and attentive staff, interesting historical ambiance.
Was looking for a local restaurant in Corsicana and this place did not disappoint. Lunch was fantastic and the deserts were great! Will be back next time Im in the area.
Friendly welcoming vintage diner. Good fresh food.
This is a hidden gem! The service is top of the line with amazing food. That atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed. There is no need to be in a rush. If your willing to wait for perfection, you will not be disappointed. We had the Lobster Bisque, Demonico Ribeye,, Lamb Chops, Prime Rib, Coconut Cream Pie, and Lemon Chelle.Andres is truly on of the finest chiefs, and the food is impeccable.
Yes! Great service, great food and coffee, prices are good too. I drop in as often as I cam. One of the few place in the area that honors gluten-free.One of my favorites!
Love this place! Great retro stuff, good food and the service was excellent.
My niece, nephew, and I were taking a stroll downtown and are always up to try a new place to eat. From the moment we walked in, everyone was super nice. This wasnt limited to the staff; the patrons at this establishment were also friendly, a reminder of the closeness of our small community. Our server spoke respectfully and patiently with my niece and nephew as she took their order, making them feel very comfortable. The food (classic burger and chicken salad sandwich) were delicious. I would also like to note that they have hand sanitizer at the entrance and require you use it to ensure a safe environment for everyone. We will definitely be back!
Love their breakfast and eating staff! Delicious coffee too.
Cute little soda shop/diner. Staff was very friendly. Even made my meal special order for my diet. Will definitely be back!!
Very cool atmosphere, seemed over priced for just a normal breakfast... But if you after something above the normal this is your spot.
Delicious and great prices
Great historical diner..takes you back in time with good food.
Their chicken salad sandwich is amazing!
Great food. Impressed everytime I go.
This was an enjoyable restaurant. I came down from Dallas for the day just to explore Corsicana and stopped in for lunch. My chicken fried steak was good and the green beans were great. Service was very good as well.
Had the omelet, cheese only, had to pay extra for any fillings. Had to pay extra for toast. The omelet was thin, dry, & over cooked. Unimpressed.
Great Customer Service & Excellent Breakfast!!!
Let me just say that I called the manager and informed him how poorly I was treated on my last visit. If anything was corrected.. I will never know.I WILL NOT be back.
Great big salad and a very tasty club sandwich. And the pies looked delicious also.
Lovely place, great food, and very accommodating staff.
All I will say is go through and read the owners response to some of these reviews- its very telling of what kind of establishment is being run. For someone to note their concern around COVID and the service they received, and the only response to be Thanks, but I have never seen you leave a positive review before... is honestly baffling to me. Of course customers are going to be concerned about their well being during a global pandemic, and by them patronizing your business they are TRYING to support. However, to imply that they must leave positive reviews in order to be validated is wild. Craziest customer service going on at this place I have ever seen.
Awesome service.... Friendly, attentive, and consistent!
I was surprised that none of the wait staff/employees at Across the Street Diner are wearing masks during this crucial time of the COVID-19 pandemic. We usually have a great experience dining here, however, today we chose to eat outside because we figured we were safer outside since no employees were wearing masks and there were no seats available inside due to social distancing guidelines. The waitress said to have a seat outside and she would bring us some menus. We waited outside for 15 minutes and no one ever came to help us. Very disappointed.
Went for breakfast and the food was decent but the waitress was absolutely horrible. If youre the owner, shes the single mom with 6 kids whos telling customers too much about her personal failures and doesnt even know about the menu. Will turn and leave if I see her again. Probably has drug problems...
Expected better food for the price. Waitress was excellent mimosas were great but the food... Was lacking flavor. We didnt enjoy the food at all
Ordered eggs over medium and they came out undercooked
