Super knowledgeable and professional. Daniel restored my wifes violin from 25 years ago, and it plays like new. He put me in touch with a music instructor in my area, and I cant wait to hear the wife play her old concertos. Thanks for bring the joy of music back to our house.
Super helpful in letting me choose a violin of my needs. They had a wide variety of instruments for me to try out. And was later satisfied of one. They let me take it home and make me feel comfortable playing the violin. Came back 2 days later and was happy of my choice. Tracy helped me choose out a case and 2 bows of my liking and ended with a very nice set.
Great selection to choose when stopping by. Nice vibe that I can come peacefully. Pricing is great despite a speciality shop. A hidden gem to give a try here.
The owners are very nice. They let me try so many violins based on what I was looking for and my budget. When I had narrowed it down, they let me take it home and try it for a week. Then they were patient and kind when I wanted to try others. I eventually went home very happy with the best violin I could find for my budget. Far exceeded expectations. Great people.
I am very happy because I found everything I wanted. My daughter is very happy too. The person that attended me was very grateful and respectful. He also gave us a lot of choices to choose from violins. I recommend you guys to buy violins their.
Ive taken my cello here multiple times for refurbishment, repair, cleaning, and upgrades. Each time I have been greeted with kindness, the work performed superbly and quickly, and the work priced fairly. I trust the work they do and cant imagine taking my instrument elsewhere.
I had hoped to have a good experience, but sadly, this was not the case. After setting an appointment and driving for nearly two hours from San Diego, I was greeted with a less-than-friendly, Do you have an appointment?. It went downhill from there. I was corrected as to how I opened the violin case (we wont fix it if you break the zipper). I asked what repairs needed to be done to bring the violin up to top-notch playing condition and was not given an answer other than to be told that the the previous repair persons work was amateurish, and that a violin is only as good as its last repair. I politely asked again, what he would recommend by way of a repair and was told that he wouldnt do anything for me. He said that repairs could be 1,000, $5,000, $10,000 or even $15,000 but that he wouldnt do it. The impression I had was that my beautiful old instrument wasnt worth his time, and he wanted me to leave as soon as possible -- which I did. I felt belittled, and treated in a condescending manner as well (Im a white, American woman). What an unpleasant, and unprofessional experience! The response to my review is entirely inaccurate, and misses the main point -- I was treated unprofessionally. My husband accompanied me on this visit and commented later that they were condescending and rude.
Mr. Weisshaar is very personable and has provided us with a great experience. This is our second time receiving service for my childs viola and I look forward to returning for our next instrument upgrade. Kudos to Ms. Tracy as well for her kind interaction.
If I had kids who wanted to play guitar, I would take them to Weisshaar M and R & Son Violin Shop. Not only will they learn to be great at playing guitar, Weisshaar M and R & Son Violin Shop also stealthily teachers life lessons everyone, not just kids, need to learn.
Awful experience. Quote “I am already loosing money talking to you” was the second sentence I received during a phone conversation! Rude and obviouslyno customer service skills ! It’s all about the money! Stag away .
Knowledgeable, friendly Craftsmen. They were very willing to talk to me about my needs as a beginning cellist. And, I was able to try out 6 cellos during an hour long session in and acoustically sound room before making my selection.
They know what theyre doing. They have been around for a long time. Do not worry about pricing for theyre very fair people.
They know and love their vocation. Experts at their craft. I appreciate the personal they give tjeir clients.
Very cheap rosin Very good!
The family who run the shop are very warm-hearted. They understand the parents and always think on behalf of children ‘s parents.
Fantastic service. Very knowledgeable. They take true pride in their work and clientele.
Very helpful very family-like environment let me play their violins and choose the one that I wanted. Highly recommended.
I really liked my experience here, the customer service was wonderful also,I just told them what I wanted in a violin and the price range I wanted to stay at and they immediately help me find the violin I wanted, I also got to try out the different types of violins, and I finally found one that suited me the best. I would recommend anyone to come here and buy a violin.
Horrible customer service. I am a cello teacher in OC and my student recently bought a cello string from there and it snapped while putting on, and they refused to give any discount for a new one. The way they handled this situation was rude and unreasonable. I will take my business elsewhere and will tell others the same.
This place is extremely over-priced. There are far better options around if you are willing to drive a short distance to save hundreds of dollars. Save yourself big bucks and shop around!
Among the best in the business. The Weisshaars are highly skilled luthiers who operate with great integrity. Theyve been around for a long time and provide the best service and instruments for professionals and amateurs alike.
Ten years ago I bought a new violin because I liked the rich tone and ease of play. Over the years and many adjustments later, the tone was weak and the sound was harsh. While searching for a new repair shop, I discovered Weisshaars and decided to give them a try. Am I ever glad I did. From the start, the experience was great. Theirs is an old-fashioned luthiers shop warm with the smell of wood, varnish, and rosin. Instruments hang from the rafters and are safely tucked in a traditional display case. I was warmly greeted by Rena and had a great chat about violins, music and what I need in my instrument. The best part is what awaited me when I picked my instrument up. The bow I had re-haired was impeccable. The hairs were perfectly aligned and the tensions were spot-on, But when it came to the violin, what I got was nothing less then perfection. The rich tone was restored, the harshness was replaced with a mellow evenness all across the range. I was once again able to coax music instead of simply squeaking sound. And the bill was very reasonable - they give great service at a great price! Dont expect the Weisshaars to turn a $99.00 eBay special into a Stradivari, but you can rest assured that in the skilled hands of the Weisshaar team, your violin will rise up to be the best it can be.
