We had a transmission go out on our 2016 Elantra and got it towed to this location. Jeff went above and beyond for us. Very professional and honest. He was very precise in explaining the diagnostic he ran on our transmission and very honest in the routes and prices we could use to fix it. I was a loyal customer, but the last time they fixed my escape, they had it for five days and when I picked it up I noticed they broke the windshield. I had to call them several days asking them to fix it. They never took ownership, they never apologized. They offer to take it to a place to repair it. I would not trust them with my vehicle again. They could offer credit, a coupon or an apology.

Jeff and his team at the Crest Hill AAMCO are wonderful. I took my car to a local Dodge dealership for a check engine light and it ended up being a transmission problem. My car wasnt under warranty anymore and the dealership wanted to charge me over $5500 to replace the transmission on my 2014 Charger. I brought it to Jeff and his team and he explained everything that was going on with the transmission and tried to save me as much as he could. I ended up saving over $2200 from what the dealership was going to charge me.

I was able to get my car in same day to have it looked at. I was called about the issue and informed what needed to be done after a couple hours. It was fixed the very next day. Jeff Ward was in contact with me throughout the entire process. He even went to the extent of helping me fully understand what was going on with my car. It is nice to know exactly what you are paying for and why. He was very professional and made me feel welcome! I would highly recommend this place for their customer service and speed. I would highly recommend working with this shop. They have taken care of all my car troubles. AAMCO is an auto shop ran with urgency, efficiency, and quality. I have worked with Jeff each time I bring my car in. He kept me updated throughout the process. He ensured I had basic knowledge on what my car troubles were. And was there to help me get linked up with a company to break down my payments if needed. My troubles were with my transmission so you know that’s big $$$$$. 10/10 would recommend working with AAMCO, and if you have car problems... ask for Jeff!

My 2007 Toyota 4Runner needed a transmission.they offer different options for your needs.and the guys at AAMCO did a great job. Highly Recommended!

Used car was purchased. 3 weeks later the car stopped going in forward/reverse. 1 tow and 2 days later the AAMCO mechanic had my broken transmission taken apart and out on display to show me the gear destruction. I was offered 3 repair options and took the best one for my situation. I applied for and got the car care credit line so it really helped my budget. They had my car for a reasonable 6 business days (rent a car for a trans swap!) and it drove just the way it used to after the swap. A few days after the repair, I had some scary transmission shuddering in the 2011 Honda Pilot between 30-40mph. I returned to the shop and AAMCO advised that they had data showing the engine was misfiring but the check engine light wasnt on. I opted out of the tune up route and I took it to the dealer to get it scanned and (luckily) an easy $140 Honda software update fixed the shuddering problems! All in all, Im impressed with the price for the parts and labor cost, warranty, and financing help. I certainly cant blame them for not having access to factory software updates as the factory mechanic told me that even the dealership was not informed about new software updates. My final option was WELL over double the money for a new trans in a used car at the dealer. Nah! $2500 sucks to pay, but what they did was well worth the money.Very happy, thanks Crest Hill AAMCO!

Jeff and the team here are great. They got my dads car fixed in an hour on a Saturday. Very easy to work and talk with. Would definitely recommend them. And just because theyre Aamco transmissions does not mean they perform transmission repairs, they are a full service facility.

We brought in my husbands car after being told by the dealer it needed a transmission repair - turned out be something completely different. Jeff went above and beyond, taking the time to diagnose what was truly wrong with our car and saving us over $5000, minimum!!! We will never go anywhere else.

I had a clutch replacement last year at another shop, replacing a non-standard racing clutch and trying to return it to a normal clutch. This shop did a very poor job, and kept the car almost all summer. So, the end result was a barely functional clutch that was a mish-mash of mismatched parts. Once I decided to go to Aamco, they had a heck of a job ahead of them. Jeff and his team did a great job of figuring out what went wrong with it and what was needed to make it right. Jeff explained everything very well, and kept in touch when there was a delay in getting one of the parts we needed. The end result is a car that drives better than it has in literally a decade! Aamco really came through with their quality of work, professionalism and the relative affordability of the job. (Clutch replacements are very labor-intensive.) I highly recommend Aamco!

Very knowledgeable staff! I went through Jeff, very helpful. I drove over an hour to this shop because my local shops wanted to make the job bigger then it needed to be. They pinpointed the issue and fixed only what needed done. I will definitely make the hour trip for any other issues I’d have with my car. Plus, They have the best customer service man-Jeff! He is knowledgeable, friendly, and truly cares about the customer and their experience. Visiting my son from out of town my car suddenly need to have the engine serviced. Jeff got me right in and took care of everything, then has me stopping by for a complimentary check the next time in town! Who does that? Jeff from Aamaco in Joliet that’s who! Also, this business does not overcharge for parts they give you the desks they get and in top of that they do Not over charge on work hours. Actually, they round down the hours not like most places which round up! I will never go anywhere else if it at all possible!

We brought our Dodge Durango in for transmission service almost a year ago. We are like most people and dont have $5000 laying around. We saved for quite some time for this repair. We chose Aamco because of the warranty. Since the original service we have had our vehicle back now three times. Thank God for the warranty, but I feel at this point they are bandaiding the issue because the warranty is soon running out. We are supposed to be leaving on a trip to see my grandmother, who is ill and Im terrified to take this vehicle on the road so we will have to rent a vehicle. We are looking literally in the same boat as we started. What a shame to spend this amount of money and feel this way. At this point Im considering small claims court to see if I can get them to extend the warranty. Not happy ****update**** I received a call from Aamco this evening....customer service was very attentive to my concerns and they have agreed to extend the warranty for my peace of mind. I dont like to resort to bad reviews but it seems Aamco is going to come through.

AAMCO is awesome!! I had my car towed here. They replaced my clutch,flywheel, and,transaxle seal. They had it fixed and out the door so reasonable, and efficient!! They are now our go to place for car repair. We highly reccomend there service!!!

Would have given 5 stars but shop, and my car reeked of cigarette smoke. Next time keep my car doors closed while you’re smoking in the shop. I called and talked with the shop for about 5 minutes. Stated I wanted work done, he asked what I need and I told him I needed a swap from auto to manual. Then his tone completely changed and started naming parts that I would need this and that, then told me that it would thousands on thousands of dollars. I told him that I was aware and willing, he then completely turned me away without looking at the car or anything. IF I CANT GET MY TRANSMISSION DONE AT A TRANSMISSION SHOP THEN WHERE DO I GET IT DONE? the guy is simply looking for an easy buck, saw some real work in front of him with good amount of hours and runs away with his tail tucked between his legs. Classic mechanic. Keep your distance!!

Took my truck here was not missing when I brought it in for service. They claim everything was fine when they finished . This place is full of liars working there. Do not go here they do not know what they are doing. Was not aware of coupons was not offered the 100.00 off coupon.

The rating system popped up too fast was meant to be a 5 star. My boyfriend had recommended my mom here and they were super helpful and explained the issues to her, very fast and friendly.

OMG, where do I begin. Normally I don’t replace transmissions because of past experience but I still had a big car loan and needed to keep my car. John and his staff were fabulous. As luck would have it my motor went right after the trans when the timing belt snapped on the highway. They went through the car with a fine tooth comb and when I got the car back it drove like it did right off the lot the day I brought it. He did repairs that he didn’t even charge me for. This is a good man! I can sincerely say that you can take your car here to this location. They are professionals. If you have a Nissan with that closed transmission, don’t do the dealer. As a college student I understand the need for low priced services and products. However, the lowest cost is not always the best. I have been to AAMCO a number of times now and I have never had a hard time with them in any area of business. They are all straight forward with you, which may come of as harsh to some, and tell you exactly what you need to hear. I trust them with my vehicles and dont dread the time I need something on either one of my vehicles examined or fixed. Its refreshing to find someone truthful and fair in automotive maintenance for once in this area.

They were great to work with. When the transmission went out they towed it in and gave us every possible scenario that it might be with estimated costs. The service was top notch and we are back on the road again with no more troubles,Thank you!

I had them just get my trans from BMW because how do you trust someone so now the slapstick doesnt work instead when you put it in slapstick mode it goes to race mode and you cant shift it manually anymore I dont think theyre capable program in the computer so I have to take it to BMW . $6,000 worth the repair it cost what the f my support shaft went out 8000 miles later also they should said it was going bad

I had my transmission repared here. Bill did the work timely, properly, and at a fair price. I was given a print out of other repairs needed, but could wait. I will definitely return for further repairs. Good service an honesty goes a long way!

Generally when someone arrives at a transmission shop you are expecting the worst. The folks at this shop were amazing, they promised to determine what the problem was and take it one step at a time. What another shop told me was a trans problem was actually a bad u joint that was fixed promptly and affordably.I was impressed at their professionalism and genuine sincerity. I also didnt know they fix all sorts of auto issues, not just transmissions. Im hoping my vehicle runs smoothly and I dont have the need for more repairs but glad to have found an honest shop that will be our go-to for any problems in the future.

On September 4th, my daughter’s transmission went out in her car while away at school in Michigan, home is Illinois. Not knowing what to do I called Lynn at the aamco in Crest Hill, Illinois. She recommended for me to take it the aamco in Kalamazoo. Letting me know that Aamco offers a 3yr warrenty and it’s nation wide. But instead I decided to bring it home and have it done at the Aamco in Crest Hill. John the manager took good care of us. Car was towed to them late Monday afternoon and my car was ready for pickup Wednesday morning. So grateful that I don’t have to worry about my daughter’s car anymore!

A place that specializes in transmissions should be able to find a missing fuse. Transmission was stuck in 2nd (Limp mode). Not knowing much about electronic transmissions I brought it to them. After keeping it the better end of 2 days they told me the trans had to be replaced for $2200. Paid the $50 for diagnostics, went home and started to search the problem. Started checking fuses and somehow one was missing. No idea how that happened. Put it in and the trans is fine. Talked to the manager (John) about it and I had to call corporate to get a refund. They were appalled that they couldnt find the problem and put up such a fight for the refund. They called the shop and made them do the refund.

This was my first time here and I didn’t have any complaints. Staff was friendly they seemed sincere and I would recommend them to others for car repair needs!!

Terrible. Nothing got fixed all the problems we has still happen. They wouldnt refund or try to help after spending $2200. Will never go there again.

Our transmission was stuttering. Took it in, they gave it a full flush and cleanup. Been 13,000 miles since and works great. Also replaced our front bearing carriers. rolls like butter now!

Bill was awesome to work with. He kept us posted as to arrival of the rebuilt transmission and then when it would be ready. Everything went as promised. We had a very small window in which to have the job completed and for our son to get back to college. We priced the same job with other transmission companies from Chicago to Macomb and Aamco beat them and gave the best warranty. Job well done! Thanks Bill!
