The ADT salesmen that comes through my neighborhood 2-3 times per year are the absolute worst. The first time we opened our door we made the mistake of being too polite so then we almost had to threaten this guy and his boss to get them out of our house because the lead guy just sat there and argued with us when we decided we didnt want to buy their home security then and there. On top of that he was extremely pushy and verbally abusive to the salesman under his supervision which of course is just a tactic to guilt people into buying. This poor guy wont make his quota and then well have to fire him. Oh please. Second time I opened the door for ADT it was some younger guy. After I politely declined his offer I guess he figured that was a great time to comment on my excellent choice of hair accessories and tell me what a beautiful woman I am. Thanks, Im sure he was being very sincere but theres not a chance in the world that Id let a man into my home who is saying things like that to me on my doorstep, especially a stranger. Theyve come through a few more times since then but I dont even answer the door anymore in order to avoid any more awkward/uncomfortable dealings with these guys. Based on the complete unprofessionalism and tackiness Ive seen in their sales people, Id never buy an ADT security system even when we do eventually consider getting one. Im glad others have had better experiences with this company, I guess whoever is sending these guys out to my neighborhood needs to train a bit better. Or something.
Well, what an experience. The local ADT affiliate in Annapolis, Protect your Home, a subsidiary (?) of Defenders Inc, Indianapolis, attempted to provide me with a system over the last few days. They no longer send a marketing or technical person to survey the install, so there were lots and lots of miscommunication and problems. The first installer arrived without the water detectors that we had specified on the phone with the Indianapolis reps. Wed been told to allow 2-3 hours for the install, but as he didnt even have the right equipment we didnt feel guilty telling him to pack up at 6pm as we had a dinner date. He was told by Indianapolis to remove the installed equipment and we were to make another appointment. So the following day we did, stressing that we needed the water detectors. The Rep said (a) that all techs had a fully equipped service van (not true - the tech turned up in a small compact car!) and (b) she would make notes to ensure he arrived with the equipment.Did he? No way. Never saw the notes, no water detectors in the trunk of his car (sorry - fully equipped service van.) He went back to the office and fetched the equipment and spent 3-4 hours installing it.He was competent but not as good as he thought he was. One sensor alarmed at 8pm (Saturday!) just as he was leaving. Another still isnt connected - the system has no idea it exists. And the water detector in the 22nd bathroom is incorrectly mounted too high - how do I know? Because the toilet overflowed and the alarm never happened.Sheesh. What a shambles.
Service person was very good, patient, made sure my wife understood what he has doing. He was courteous and polite. He let us know where in the house he would be working on.
My installation process was very smooth and seamless. I have absolutely no complaints about the service that I received. Awesomesauce!!!
Installation was fine, but they gave me a ratty old refurbed key ring remote which didnt even work through the door and my alarm still went off constantly, which scares my young daughter. Asked for a new one and they said I had to pay. Called again when I was having financial hardships and they offered to lower the price of service immediately by $10 a month and even gave me three months free. You would think this is good news, but if all it took was a phone call to give me that much back so quickly how many unsuspecting people are just paying the increased rate every day? It made me feel like a sucker for having paid the fees for so long, only to find out a friend of mine used a different company and only paid $16 a month and he had a better alarm than me! Called to cancel service and they told me I had to pay an extra month before the cancellation was final, citing as a reason just because, even though I would no longer be receiving the services, but since I cancelled the day before my automatic payment went through they said I would have to pay two months! What?! Ten years with this company and I feel like a chump. I will never use them again. Ever. My suggestion to you as a consumer would be to research other providers.
