The guy at the counter made me very uncomfortable with his rude and aggressive attitude. I noticed a distorted sound from one of his used records and he got very angry when I brought it to his attention. He would not let me leave until I heard the record on another player, and demeaned me throughout the entire ordeal. It is like he got off on being an a-hole. It was creepy... Luckily I found a better record store in Hobart. The staff in the HOBART record store are friendly, helpful, and humble— not aggressive or creepy like this guy.

Ive been here before and I feel like I get the best service regarding my purchase and the the background information that could only come from someone who is a connoisseur of music and is passionate about spreading knowledge. In 2021 this shop truly is a vintage experience. Each time I return to this shop I am greeted with great memories of the golden ages of music. Truly a treasure!

Very knowledgeable owner and a cool place to check out inside the former courthouse. Best for older collectible vinyl; not many newer releases.

Mike (owner) is great and definitely knows his stuff! Great selection, very fair prices. If there’s something you want, he can track it down for you. I am a beginner and he was very helpful at explaining to me how to clean records and how to spot the good from the damaged. I will definitely be shopping here in the future, and so should you!

Was there last weekend. i will never stop by again and will highly recommend others do the same. i understand the cost of the items here, but whats bothersome is the owners attitude! the blatant disrespect and over-talking he does shows extremely poor character. not sure how this guy is still in business. witnessed firsthand how he treats customers including myself. hard to believe the five star reviews here, unless he paid for them. stay away.

Michael is so knowledgeable and passionate about everything that has to do with music. From something as simple as how to hold and care for your vinyls all the way up to sound waves and their target frequencies for specific artists even in the same genre. He knows and can explain why youre supposed to do certain things, however, while he is educating you, he doesnt belittle you with his explanations while also explaining it in a way you can understand regardless of how experienced & knowledgeable you are yourself. Truly special to see how much he cares. Great service, great guy, and great experience overall.

Traveled recently to Crown Point, IN last week in March 2021 to visit my parents. Listening to hard to find great cassette tapes from there now!!

This place rocks!! went here to look for a rare CD wasnt in store but the owner Mike was able to find it for me online. Mike is a great guy to do business with and to talk to . He will tell interesting stories about the greatest music legends that ever lived .If you like Beatles,Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Van Halen, Ted Nugent, Bob Seger Etc do yourself a favor and stop in at Antique Vault and Records and you will be 100% satisfied .Thanks Mike you rock!!🎸

Proprietor assumes you know nothing about vinyl or the equipment used. Prices are HIGH, especially considering most of it comes from antique shops and thrift stores bought for WAY less. Do yourself a favor and travel 15 more minutes and go to Tom Lounges Record Bin. Awesome guy, been in the business 35 years, knocked off $10 of my $60 bill just because he’s genuinely a nice guy. Can’t say the same for this vinyl dungeon.

I have been a loyal customer of the Vault for years. Always treated like im family. Mike does an amazing job of keeping a fine balance of collectibles as well as Greatest Hits type albums for the all around music lovers. As all Antique and Vintage stores prices at times can be a bit high. However Mike has always taken care of me, and given me deals on anything I have ever bought. Anything I have mentioned that I was looking for he has gone out of his way to find and price reasonable. For a time there was even a bin just for me put aside. All around AMAZING place with everything from Vinyls to posters, and any music related collectibles in between! A must stop any time you are in Downtown Crown Point!

By far the best record shop Ive ever been to, I got Pink Floyd; Animals and the quality if FANTASTIC. I love the entire vibe of the store and the owner is super passionate about what he does. Ill definitely be returning!!

I took my little sister there and we enjoyed it it I bought a Mamas and the Papas record and he gave me a little history about the record I bought that I never knew. Definitely coming back!

Could have been a good place to pick up some Lps except for 2 things 1) Owners attitude, and 2) Records are waaaaay overpriced. It’s vinyl, not a kidney. We went to an awesome place in downtown Hobart and the owner couldn’t have been NICER.

This is my happy place! I could spend hours here. Mike and Chuck are absolutely awesome! I always highly recommend anyone to come here. The albums are always super great. Its where Ive started my record collection and I have never been let down. Super duper love this place!!

Stopped by here on the way back to Chicago just by typing Used Vinyl Records into Google Maps. Very glad I stopped by, because the location is in a superbly restored and repurposed old building, worth a look by itself. Extensive selection of vinyl albums and 45s, also some shellac, vintage hi-fi, posters and a lot to look at for the music fan, all in pretty good and tidy condition.The owner is very friendly, engaging and knowledgeable, and I spent a while talking with him and some of his customers passing through. Bought a few 45s and they looked and played great. Prices are a little high for me, but I have been spoilt over the years, and Im also a well-known cheapskate. The advantage of prices not being bargain-basement though, is that youre more likely to find rare stuff if youre a proper record hunter, so the store is well worth checking out.

I have been a costumer for about four years now. Super awesome stuff in the shop, and Im always stoked to see what new stuff Mike got in. Great place for teens to hang out and connect to some music !

Absolutely amazing selection! The owner has a great passion for what he does and it shows in his store! Bought a couple records from him and his killer vinyl cleaner! He even cleaned some records that I had one me from a different shop! Will definitely be going back and would recommend his place to absolutely everyone!

This place is amazing. Its a small shop, but laid out beautifully. The selection and quality is almost unheard off. I bought 3 vinyl that were 35 plus years old. They might as well have been brand new. The owner loves vinyl and it shows. His second room shows gear for sale in which he is well versed in. Go there prepared to spend some money and get a great conversation for free. Damn shame the rating system only goes up too 5 stars.

Great record store close to home. The records are in pristine shape, all cleaned and sleeved nicely. Mike and Chuck are extremely nice and helpful.

Just went in after talking to the owner on the phone the other day and picked up a turntable he recommended. After personal research and his amazing knowledge, I made a purchase and I cant praise this store enough amazing collection of vinyls and other things and the owner actually cares about his customers and what he is selling, he isnt just some barely trained employee. Will certainly be coming back for more items in the future. If you can make the drive out there, its worth it.

One of the best collections of used records Ive seen. All well organized and in beautiful condition. Plus both new and vintage turntables/stereo equipment, and other memorabilia. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Cant wait to go back!

Super over priced and I don’t knwo why u would buy a 50 dollar record there when there are other shops across the street that sell them for less than half that for the same record and even better conditions. And they say there passionate But if u where really passionate u wouldn’t be selling records for more than they where brand new.

Stumbled upon this hidden gem today while antique shopping in the square. super friendly and knowledgeable owner, who was more than accommodating and really excited about my boyfriend and i being into his shop. within five minutes we found some extremely rare records in mint condition at very fair pricing for the quality and rarity. really awesome to be able to talk about local record shops of the past like hegewisch records with a great shop owner. talking with mike made our day! you just dont find stuff like this in the wild!

Daughter came to visit and go to a record store. We are from Michigan so do not know the area. Came across this little gem. Walked in and was very impressed with the care and quality of records and colectibles. Was treated excellent by Mike with a warm welcome. Spent time with daughter explaining care and maintaining records. Added three records to her colection. Will return and highly recommend. Thank you Mike for everything.

They have a great selection, and we enjoyed speaking with Mike. The prices in the A room were a little high for music available easily via the internet. The problem with that, you dont know what youre going to get, figure in the cost of shipping, and youre not supporting local business. We will continue to shop via the internet, and do some research. Great place to pic up vinyl and bs with the guys. I recommend this place to all of us Chicago transplantees who are looking for a afternoon hang out where you can talk music.

Not a great selection. Dont bother unless you have an hour to spare while the lonely proprietor talks your ear off about music. Dont try to buy an inexpensive turntable either. He will shame you for wanting childrens toys instead of the $400 system hes trying to sell.
