The best art supply store for professional artists. You cannot beat their deals and sales on best quality products. I drive from East Texas to shop there. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, I have many times ordered supplies and they have saved them for me.

Real art supply store, with better materials, including many professional lines. Ft. Worth store seems to be better-stocked/organized. Staff was nice and helpful, but lots of unpriced items and thin inventories. Since theres no good art-store option in Oklahoma, I like to visit Asel. I dont mind paying a bit more to buy/support local, but -- diminishing returns on that.I do tend to find interesting items, like odd-size/shape painting panels, unusual papers, etc., which make for fun experiments.Park out back and enter through the stealthy back door and down the stairs.

There is something to be said about brick and mortar art supplies.... or I’ll just say it. I wanted to work with ink and calligraphy pens and it was all here. To hold a 45 degree pen and actually look at the different heads, that was a game changer for the project I was working on. They also have Montana spray paint with all the attachment heads, which was only available at a skate board shop at one point.Great place with people of art passion.

I love this store although they are kind of higher in cost they carry very high quality art supplies. They have some beautiful handmade sheets of paper and montana spray paints which are my favorite! If you havent tried the hologram clear coat you should grab a can now and check out the clearance section in the far right corner if you enter from the front door

When a customer calls in to ask a question, DO NOT cut them off before they finish. I understand another department may be better able to assist but you need to wait until the customer finishes speaking before you say so. I was coming in to buy! Please teach your employees proper etiquette. I had to order from my old art supply store way over in Birmingham Alabama because you are too rude. A store that has better selection, availability, knowledgeable friendly staff, and affordability than you people..

Have been going to Asel for many years. It can be a little pricey but they have quality products and selection is good. Plenty of friendly staff to take care of you.

They almost always have all of the art supplies I need and many more that I want but dont need. Parking in the Dallas location is somewhat difficult but worth it. The staff is always very helpful. Today I went to the Arlington store but did not find the product I needed. They offered to order it for me but I told them I needed it today. They called around to their other locations and located the product I need and had it put on hold for me to go pick up.

Great little local art supply store. Very knowledgeable staff. Parking lot is in back, behind the building. There are two entrances, one in front, which has a few steps. The back entry (by the parking lot) has a much steeper stairway.

Great place for markers, paints, inks, supplies but no fabrics/ materials for fabric art like embroidery, cross stitching etc. But a wonderful place otherwise.

Every time Ive shopped at Asel, Carl, Alissa, and Blaine have always gone above and beyond to help me find the products that I need and demonstrate how I should use them. They are all extremely knowledgeable and patient. I cannot say enough great things about the staff and the caliber of products available at the Cedar Springs location. I highly recommend Asel for all your art supply needs from novice to expert level.

Good selection of art supplies. Prices can be a bit high but considering its the only chain of art stores local besides big chains here in DFW local to me its not so high that its not worth the trip.

This place is amazing if you are an artist or hobbyist. They have a little bit of everything you could want. You could pick up a hobby just by looking around. The prices are very good for the oil paints and you can catch discounts regularly. The paper selection is quite nice and you can find a variety of different colors, patterns and material types. Well worth a visit just to look around and see if you can find what you were looking for.

Blaine, Cameron, and Alissa are the reason I shop at Asel. They have always been kind, informative, and supportive of my projects and efforts to create. They give sound advice take deep consideration of my wants and help my get what I need. I am grateful they are a thing. :)

Great service just wish they had had more Flake white(Lead White), I bought them all, and was ready to spend at least $200 dollars on that one only. If you have more let me know!! Great store!!

Excellent store

This store has everything any artist could ever want & more whether your a pro or a novice. Its a little pricey, but they have a lot of hard to find supplies.I attended a terrific workshop & am now able to be notified of all upcoming workshops. I wish they would hold some of these workshops at the Ft. Worth location. Its not as far & not near as hard to find.

I love this art shop! I’m a beginner watercolorist and the staff here are so helpful and friendly, without exception. You don’t get that kind of treatment many places these days. They have oodles of things to choose from and the teacher/military discount doesn’t hurt, either! Thanks to all of you and I’ll see you again soon!

Although one of the ladies in the counter was very helpful helping me find all that I needed. When I needed to use the restroom, they said there is no restroom there for any CUSTOMERS I spend a good amount and the store and I dont care how nice she was when youve gotta use that restroom not the notes matters!!!😪😡 The 2 stars are for the helpful assistant behind the counter

As the parent to a budding student artist, I have had the pleasure of spending time in various art stores. This was certainly the exception! Although we were in the establishment for a significant amount of time, we received little acknowledgement or assistance. Upon ringing up her selections, the young man inquired if she found all she looking to find. No, she not nor was she offered assistance He made excuses for the lack of service by four employees. A great selection will never trump customer service.

Stopped in from another town to shop an ideal selection of mechanical pencils, but every display case is disappointingly empty and dusty. The few available pencils are the same lead size, and come from collections that offer various sizes, which seem to have never been restocked. When I asked if perhaps pencils existed in another part of the store, the rep simply aired some laundry about former managements poor approach to inventory, etc., and checked the back to not find anything new.

Best art supply in Dallas. I dare you to find any other place with this kind of selection of knowledgeable a staff in the metro area. There is none.

They have an excellent selection of art supplies that you wont find in other brick and mortar stores, but are lacking in customer service. The last time I was there it was a terrible experience. Several things I was interested in were not priced. When I asked the price of some paints that were all in the wrong spots I was told the price varies. In a different part of the store I needed a price on something else and her response was I dont know. It seemed like she was the manager, and she could not have been less helpful. When I went to pay for my items, there were at least 3 employees behind the counter who didnt notice me standing there and when I got their attention, there was no eye contact, no did you find everything, how are you today? ZERO people skills in this establishment. I wouldnt mind paying a little more for the convenience of a great selection, but I doubt Ill go back here again. Really rude employees.

If youre getting something common, like oil and acrylic painting supplies, drawing materials, etc this is your spot. I did not find niche items for printmaking.

If it weren’t for the fact that this place is so well known I would say it’s one of the best hidden gems in Dallas. Every time I’m running low on something in my studio I look forward to a trip to Asel. Why you ask when you can order just about everything on Amazon these days? Face-to-face. That’s why. I love how quirky it is and enjoy seeing some of the same faces time and time again. Art supplies aside, everyone is super helpful and super chill. Don’t expect to be waited on hand and foot, but it’s that part that makes me appreciate it all the more. The building itself with the downstairs kind of tavern-ish vibe is cool. Back to supplies, they have pretty much everything you need to find at an art store. But you probably already knew that if you’ve been.

This was a great place to pick up some new tools. This is the first time Ive been to this location. I have a good feeling its probably the largest store. The Plano location was half of what this one was. I felt like I could look for hours. The staff was helpful and I felt like I could ask questions when I had them.

This place is pretty great. There are a bunch of art supplies for really specific uses and medias. I found exactly what I was looking for, Tombow dual brush pens. They have a whole rack of them off to one side and a bunch of different sets you can purchase as well. The staff wasnt overly helpful, which I actually liked. They let me just roam and explore and look about the store on my own. I appreciated that. I know they wouldve pointed me in the right direction had I asked for help though. Great store. Ill be back!

Great place for art supplies. Staff is very helpful. Prices are not bad, either, considering the options for larger sizes of paint/mediums or other items that can otherwise only be found online. They will make custom stretched canvases and also offer classes. Rohit is a great help with almost any questions for just about any medium of art.

What a great store! The staff is knowledgable and their stock is for the fine and decorative artist-not a craft store! They have saved me more than once while out of town on a project by quickly shipping needed supplies.

I am an artist and I paint murals, so I am in the store quite often. The people there are very helpful, and they have a huge selection of paints, colored pencils, watercolor markers as well as other things that I use when I paint murals. It is the best place to go to get art supplies in Dallas.

Best local art supply you can find. Michaels and Hobby Lobby carry general supplies and Asel carries the good stuff. Go here if youre serious about your art and want access to the best materials.

Ive been shopping at Asel for about 5 years. Most of the time, the staff is friendly and helpful. Over the 5 years, I have seen the store become less organized and the inventory is smaller each time I go. The last 3 times I went, they did not have any of the items I was seeking. I was forced to shop online. I know a brick and mortar business struggles to compete with the pricing of online art suppliers. Their only competitive edge is having inventory so the customer can get it NOW. I fear the writing may be on the wall as so many retail businesses are closing in every category. Aaron Brothers Art and Framing is closing their doors nationwide at the end of June 2018. If Asel doesnt do something quick to be more competitive, I fear they too will leave the market place. I will be sad to see that happen.

Love love love this place!! They have a great paint marker selection and seem to keep up with new products and keeping the brands that work the best stocked. They have also ordered spray paint colors they didnt have for me!

Why do you not carry aluminum panels? A lot of artists are moving away from heavy wood panels and moving to more durable, lightweight aluminum as a painting surface. Disappointing.

Best art supply store in Dallas. Im amazed this place is still here, everything around is now high priced apartment and condos. This place reminds me of the favorite art school supply store in college. While they dont have everything you could ever need, Asel has way more products and options than youll ever see at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Jo-Anne, etc. And Im talking real art supplies; canvases, paints, all kinds of dry media, specialty paper and more. No Martha Stewart, picture frames, fake flowers, or random holiday knick-knacks here. Shop here and help keep small art stores alive!

I will get some of my routine supplies from Michaels or Hobby Lobby, but Ive become a firm believer of going to specialty stores for the most knowledgeable staff because they tend to be immersed in the subject...whether it be books, music, wine, cheese, papers, etc. In this regard, Asel does not disappoint. It also helps me that they happen to be located in my neighborhood, so I kinda lucked out there.Tip for the amateur artists:A friend of mine owns a shop for his particular specialty and his pet peeve is customers who constantly ask him for free detailed instructions on how to do their personal projects. If anyone has had a rude experience with Asel, Id suspect this is the reason.Invest your own time and money into learning how to master your craft and have a bit of earned knowledge before you ask the staff for lessons. If youre a beginner, just tell them so: Ask them to assemble a beginner kit and for a few general tips, then go home to make lots of mistakes and learn from them. When you cant overcome some obstacle, THEN go ask the staff and show them that youve put some effort into it. Thats what I do and Ive never had a problem with Asel being rude to me.Ive had some pretty complicated requests and, even though Asel hasnt always been able to provide answers, theyve always pointed me in a helpful direction. :-)

Great variety, and they offer loads of professional art supplies not sold in Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or even JoAnns. Student discounts are available too. They also sell student grade supplies and a wide variety of paper. The employees are knowledgeable in the supplies and are friendly. This store is pricey but worth the drive. Although some supplies can be found at other craft stores for cheaper or online, it does have those had to find supples.

First time here. The main girl helping me was extremely rude. I unfortunately felt dumb for asking questions and needing assistance in paint. So rude that I decided to come home and do a price comparison for this company and other stores in which I found Michaels being the exact same in the items I purchased, but half the price. If it wasnt such bad customer service, then it would have made up for the fact. However, due to the rude service I am now taking everything I just purchased and returning it to your store tomorrow and spending my money at Michaels. But did waste a day on this now lol.

Visited with a list of items for someone else. I had no idea what the items were on the list so I went up to an employee for help. He seemed less than eager to help me find the items.
