We have used Bengal Automotive for years. Both for our 2005 Mercedes Benz C320 and our 1986 Nissan 300ZX. They are extremely professional. The services that are needed are clearly articulated as well as the cost of service. The work has always corrected whatever problem had occurred and we have never had to take a car back because something was done incorrectly. We use them for all our service on these cars from oil changes to engine repairs. Highly recommended.

My second time to work with Josh at Bengal. Once again the service was efficient, fair and everything was explained along the way. Plus, they picked up and dropped off the car for me! Excellent service at a fair price.

I had used Bengal for maybe 10 years for my 2001 BMW M3, but I WILL NEVER let them near my car again. I suspect their mechanics have turned over and the new ones are not nearly as knowledgeable or careful as the one (Richard?) prior who had worked on my car, and my sense is that the owner is not a mechanic himself (aka no true quality control). My last visit was a series of errors. I had asked them to repair a mirror motor (easy) and return to and evaluate a squeaking shock/strut (which they themselves had replaced two years ago... Ill never know if that job was also botched). They called me and suggested several other things to do, including replacing the valve cover gasket... and I approved all of it (nearly $1,500 of additional work in total). They then called me to tell me they were having issues and couldnt stop oil from leaking, and that he was giving my car to another mechanic (his best guy who, it turns out, was just recently hired) since the first one had done the gasket repair poorly (and was eventually fired). OK, fine. But, I show up to pick up my car after they said all is done and the mirror is hanging down and not working (it simply hadnt been completed)... this is annoying but I agree to come back in a couple of days. After returning a second time to pick up my car (Josh warns me I might smell a burning smell for a few days as the remaining split oil burns off, which I do), Im then driving around and hear a banging underneath.... turns out, they had failed to reattach the undercarriage guards on my car. I called them and had to convince them they were there in the first place (like, they had to take my word for it but as it turned out, they a) then identified guards that were not even for my car and b) I had to help them find, in their own shop, the very guards that had come from my car and that they then could re-attach. So, mirror not finished, guards not reattached, car still smells like burning...OK, fine, so I leave again... but my car engine starts *smoking*. When I look at my engine I see a) theres a red plastic cup cap thats been left in my engine by one of the mechanics (seriously, just careless) but the smoke is coming from the very valve gasket they said they had trouble with. I sent Josh pictures/videos of all this and he reluctantly offered for me to bring the car back (he wouldnt even refund me the money I spent on just the valve cover gasket even though he agreed it was botched), but I simply cant trust them at this point, after the lost pieces to my car and the repeatedly incompetent work. This just in: the next mechanic who is playing clean-up for all this says all the oil might have damaged my oxygen sensors, which is potentially another $1,000 repair. AVOID.

OK, so the location is a bit out-of-the-way, and doesnt have polished amenities. But more importantly for a car repair outfit, Josh is friendly, eager to help and explain anything thats needed, anything thats being done. Hell go over a roster of possible repairs and costs and the time theyll take, and if anything unforeseen crops up (the arrival of the wrong part, say), hes quick to inform you. There is no hard sale, no fog of misinformation. Ask questions, hell answer, and Bengal gets the work done. Ive found them trustworthy and reliable.

Josh and his team at Bengal have consistently provided great service on my 2010 BMW 528i for several years now. After feeling the pain of expensive repairs and maintenance of a BMW, I finally found Bengal! Josh always tells it to me straight, letting me know what is needed vs. what can wait AND works to keep costs as low as possible for me. As a busy professional, the delivery of my car after being serviced is a HUGE help logistically. Thanks to Bengal, I no longer have nightmares about exorbitant repair costs and am able to keep my beloved BMW well-maintained and in great shape!

These guys are the best. Josh and his team have responded to every need I have ever had. They are very affordable, professional, punctual, and communicate throughout the whole process. I couldn’t be happier with my service from this group and would recommend to anyone I know dealing with an automotive issue or even just needing an oil change or checkup.

Bengal Automotive saves the day! After checking various Dallas dealerships for scheduling options and cost, I recently decided to have Bengal Automotive perform some major work on my BMW. Josh (the owner) took the time to review my dealership service records with me and suggested a Preventative Maintenance Schedule specific to my make and model car. Being very familiar with the car he gave me a good idea of the periodic maintenance and associated cost to expect going forward. After the work was performed (two days faster than the Dealerships could promise) his mechanic Chris took the time to show me the replaced parts and explained to me how and why they failed. The flexible scheduling and (at least 30%) savings in overall cost has converted me from a Dealership clone to a long time customer. I can actually say for the first time that I felt the money I put into my car was money well spent.- which I think is a good feelingThanks Again Bengal

Josh and the gang help take good care of my now-ancient BMW. I miss the old location on Bengal St., but they include rides to and from the shop, a great added value. Four stars only because scheduling and duration of work could be better -- today sometimes means very late in the evening to them -- but five stars for diagnosis, explanation of work, and execution. Great alternative to dealer service departments, who are always up-selling and pushing unnecessary work, and have no respect for folks like me, who like to do some maintenance and repairs themselves.

While I took my Acura to “Marshall Motors” for everything for about 10 yrs & spent thousands, the service & professionalism was always the best .I had not been back n a few years with my now BMW . While I feel I’m actually reasonable & understanding that things happen & come up I had a terrible experience today . I dropped my car off @ 10 am ( arranged in advance by Josh ) for an oil change that was to take 1-1.5 hrs .Between 1-2 pm (3-4 hours later ) having heard nothing I called with no answer, I Text without a reply, waited a bit ( closer to 2) called again ( we are now 4 hours later keeping in mind I had an apt ) he said should be starting the oil change shortly .He was pleasant but said it should be 1-1.5 hours ( but I thought ok that clearly means 2 hours @ this Point.)))Fast forward 2:15 later, @ 4:15 I call . No answer .....I text @ 4:21 being nice but direct asking when can I expect my car, I had no idea an appt for an oil change @ 10 am & now 6 .5 hours later the service is not complete .Around 5:30 Josh called, while he was very apologetic & pleasant I just assumed there would be a decent discount for the sake of principle . Things happen and come up but we realize the experience wasn’t the best was kinda what I was thinking BUT Not the case . I was told NEXT Time I come in I will receive a discount, perfect example of the principle of the gesture of a discount would have smoothed this over & I wouldn’t be leaving this negative review . It’s 5:42 pm.I left my car @ 10 am for an oil change & I still don’t have it . I wouldn’t have loved the news but had Josh been more upfront and reached out to me rather than me having to reach out to him some times with no answer & a delay in response to text communication and being totally upfront would have made this a little better experience .I likely won’t go back, it would take a lot for me to go back but I’ve never had any car I’ve waited 8 + hours for an oil change in my life . To me as reasonable as I can be I found this to be unacceptable. It’s really not about the $ & I just assumed a discount would be offered . I never leave bad reviews but 8 + hrs for an oil change, VERY poor communication & then no discount offered when I’ve done business here for many years I’m very disappointed.Don’t recommend .

I have been using Bengal Automotive as my primary automotive repair shop for the last year or so now, and i must admit this is the BEST experience with automotive repair shop I have ever had. Honest professional and helpful are the three words that come to mind when I think of the experiences I had. I have taken both my Mini Cooper and WRX to this shop and have had excellent mechanical advice every time. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking to get away from the mind numbing experience with dealerships and shade tree mechanics! A Lyft home and back is also a huge benefit!

This is the only place I trust, where I know my car is in good hands. If you do not have a mechanic that you know well/trust, then look NO FURTHER. Ive been coming here for over 6yrs and even though, Im without a vehicle whilst is being fixed, I have peace of mind that it is in the most capable & honest hands. Thom delivers 200% on customer satisfaction & has a super-capable staff. Those customers that Ive had the pleasure of meeting have been with him as long as 20+ years. He found out the reason to a problem to my car that 3 mechanics could not diagnose.THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOUR CAR.

Ive been recently burned by bad shops, but found Bengal and couldnt be happier. Thaddeus and Josh handle the operations of the shop and are amazing at the customer service aspect of the business, and Richard is an absolute expert when it comes to luxury vehicles.I started out having them do their 97 point inspection, and when Richard was done with the car, he spent a good 30 minutes with the car up in the air going over various different things with it under me, and walking me through his entire thought process of what was going on with the car, both the good and the bad. I really, really appreciated this as I love to know whats going on with my vehicles, and love to know what I can do to road map out what my car needs.Ive come back for a few repairs since that inspection and have been happy with each visit. You get what you pay for, and at Bengal you get friendliness, knowledge, and quality work, which is all what Bengal has shown me.100% would trust them with any of my vehicles from here on out.

This place is horrible. A TOTAL ripoff!. Tried to get over on me stating I needed repairs adding up to $7089.77. Mind you I had taken my car there previously less than 2 months before for a complete checkup because I purchased the car from someone who was a business contact of theirs and he recommended I take the car there due to several issues that were occurring immediately upon delivery of me purchasing the car. I took the car in under Jerrys recommendation, which he was supposed to pay for repairs. Bengal Automotive supposedly checked the car out and told me they could not find anything wrong with the car and that it only needed an oil change, which they supposedly performed. Well I texted back the next day and told the seller the car was still giving me the same problem which I reported it was giving me when I brought it to them the day before. He never responded. Well someone from Bengal named Josh called me about 3 weeks later and I told him I was still having the same issues with the car as when I brought it in previously. He told me to bring it back in when I got a chance and they would look at it again. Well approximately 3 weeks later I took the car in and asked them to check it out because of the previous complaints which they said were nonexistent when I brought it in before and also because my Coolant Level Low message had come on twice eventhough I had filled it with coolant. And I asked them to check my brakes while they had it there. Well they called me 3 and a half hours later and read me off a long list of problems with my car totaling $7089.77. Needless to say I went and picked my car up and took it to my regular mechanic. Well he checks my car out and told me my coolant message issue was only due to a bad coolant sensor and only my brake pads needed replacing and not a full brake job, costing $803.68, which Bengal said it needed. I paid $165.00 for my brake repair and the coolant level sensor cost $27.83 and $55.00 to replace, not over $6000.00+ to repair as Bengal was trying to charge me. I left my mechanic 2 hours later, with my car repaired for less than $250.00, not $7089.77. The coolant light message was off and did not come back on the entire evening, as it came on less than 5 minutes after I left Bengal. Bengal tried to tell me I had a total of 5 different fluid leaks, that needed repairing, yet I park in my garage daily and I have never seen one leak on my garage floor. If you are smart, dont waste your time going to this ripoff place. Its sad that people are so dishonest and try to ripoff people with their fraudulent tactics. I guess they felt that because I was a woman and would fall for their lies and just tell them to go ahead and fix it and pay them thousands of unnecessary dollars for work they would not have performed and thousands for parts that I did not need. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!

One good thing Ill say is that the customer service is great. Josh at the front desk was very friendly and called to follow up with me after I got my car back. They also sent a Lyft out to pick me up free of charge.Unfortunately, the repairs were done very poorly. $600 later and my brakes were no better than they were coming in, and when they replaced the drive belt, they broke the tensioner. They also kept my car for 4 days, so all in all, it was a huge waste of time and money for me.When I got the car back to Los Angeles, I took it to my regular mechanic, who fixed the brakes in one afternoon for half the price. He advised me not to go back to Bengal when Im in Dallas, so Im just passing that on to potential new customers.Finding an honest mechanic is tough, but this place is no better than the usual rip-off.
