I have attended programs at the Dallas gem and it has always been very informative and inspiring. The program on the history of Uptown was phenomenal with a panel of passionate Dallasites well versed in the historical value of how Dallas is continuing to transition from a central Texas cowboy city to a modern metropolis attracting new residents from all over the world with Uptown being a hot bed of newbies.I also really liked the decor of African masks and old wood in this preserved house housing the Dallas Institute of Humanities considering it is amongst so many new high rises.
Culture — the best that has been done and thought — to treasure and preserve it & to pass it on, productively, with actual maximum impact on the life of the City, and pleasure, that is, with charm and conviviality amid a beautiful setting, what Institution does that anymore, what Institution ever did it? That’s exactly what the Dallas Institute does, does well, and has been doing for over forty years. It’s an Institution to cherish and celebrate, and to cherish and celebrate the vision of its Visionary Company of Founders — James Hillman, Robert Sardello, Donald and Louise Cowan, Gail Thomas and Joanne Stroud — and to make contact with — its classes, lectures, study and discussion groups, performances, events and symposia. Can’t get no satisfaction? Can’t figure out what you’re missing? You might find it here: intellectual challenge and spirited conversation, wings for the shackled Imagination, food for the malnourished soul.
This is a great place for group meeting and extra educational learning. They take good care of you. Plus, The desserts are fabulous.. 😋..
Viewed newly completed renovations of the Stroud House. Spectacular!
One of my favorite places. Hospitality is always above and beyond. I always leave smarter.
The Institute is one of my favorite places on the planet. Its classes during the school year are marvelous. And the summer institute for teachers is the most rigorous academic program Ive been a part of (I have a B.A., an M.A., and did some PhD work). Ive learned a tremendous amount about literature and how to teach it to my students!
I saw it on the street and it looked interesting. Looking forward to joining soon. Lots of cool programs
I recently attended an event focusing on historic and cultural preservation in Dallas. The panel was informative and provided a new lens to view Dallas urban space and history. I will definitely return for other events.
Great staff and events. Michelle was so great and kind. Nice menu and movie choices
A diverse program of lectures, classes, book clubs and a collaborator with other entities interesting in exploring Dallas weaknesses, strengths and opportunities. A one of a kind place!!!
Learning and genuine civil exchange happens here!
Rich, thought provoking discussions of what it means to be human at the soul level.
Great place...learned a lot
The experience at The Insititute tonight was very enjoyable. We discussed The Revisionaries with the director. Very interesting. We then discussed The Master and Argo, two recent films. Thank you for providing this opportunity.
Book talks, seminars and Professional development for both educators and adult learners.
Attending functions at the Dallas Insitute of Humanities renews me as I submit to a fresh look at literature.
Cool campus and GREAT events! I dont have a PHD, but I had a blast!
