Great place! Super cute and clean, with great lighting, fast wifi, and outlets to charge PCs or phones. The food is healthy and doesn’t sit too heavy on your stomach. The coffee is well made and the staff are so kind and friendly! I worked here for about 2 hours and they didn’t mind at all. I’ve already told friends and family to stop by if they’re ever in the area. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Popped in for a bagel and a cappuccino. Delicious. Service was good and restaurant was clean. Breakfast was over so I didnt get a chance to try the breakfast sandwich. I will return and try it and see if I cant give them 5 stars. Prices are moderate. I paid $13.00 for a plain bagel with schmear, 6oz cappuccino, and a black and white sugar cookie with 10% tip.
Beautifully clean Deli in downtown Dallas, great selection of fresh produce to grab for a quick snack or breakfast/lunch and loads of grab and go options [if you are local, delivery is available too]. Prices are reasonable, not super cheap, but defo worth it for the, quality of food, customer services, ambience and huge variety of delicious and tempting choices.
What an awesome little place tucked away inside the side of a building. You wouldn’t guess it at a glance but the bakery and food quality was pretty awesome. It looks like some kind of bakery but they’ll do whole meals that make Starbucks seem like a cheap knock-off.I ordered the breakfast/egg/bacon bagel, it was nothing short of fantastic.
I want to like this place but its probably the most inefficiently run café Ive ever been too. Ive come here maybe half a dozen times and Ive never not waited an unreasonable amount of time, whether I came for food or just a cup of black coffee, even when the place isnt really busy. The food is good and the staff is nice, but there are other spots in the area that are just better on all fronts.
The staff is fantastic and it is best hamburger in the central business district. All the food is 5 stars. First class all the way.
Nice, clean and bright interior. A wide variety of food items in cold cases, bakery shelves and made to order. I had the bagel sandwich. The bacon was crisp without being overcooked. The egg was fluffy and flavorful. The bagel was a little doughy but toasted perfectly. My only complaint was that they put mayo which was not in the ingredient list so I had to have them remake it. I also ordered the blueberry coffee cake. The cake itself was a little dry and needed a little more sugar. The crumble topping was great and helped balance it out. Service was quick and friendly. I would definitely return.
Great little spot full of fun and fresh food items. Coconut oatmeal is delicious.
So so good! I loved our short experience here! Serving hot coffee, hot breakfast/other entrees and other food options that you can grab and go. My husband got the breakfast burrito and I got the egg bagel sandwich. Both SO GOOD. I love how they serve chicken sausage here and not regular sausage, and it was seasoned to perfection. I got a latte and it was PERFECT. We were visiting but if we lived here, Id be coming here all the time. Well, it is a tad pricey so not all the time but more often! My egg bagel sandwich had eggs, bagel, chicken sausage and cheese and was $9. My husbands burrito was $7.
I had an egg sandwich and my partner had a biscuit sandwich. Egg whites were so soft and delicate, not sure if sous vide or poached, but great quality. Chicken sausage is surprisingly moist and tasty, and the coffee was solid. They have the downtown deli thing going for them but instead of European sundries theyve got craft beers and local meats.
Very cool cafe downtown! Parking is a challenge but worth the walk. Offer a wide variety of foods, especially at breakfast. We got the croissant, chorizo breakfast taco, potato breakfast taco, latte, and smoked salmon bagel. Everything was delicious. Baked goods are made in house and you can see them making it in the back. Limited seating but do have some outdoors. Excited to come back and try more of the baked goods.
The staff was friendly and the shop was tastefully arranged. The matcha latte 5/5, rich flavor of delicious matcha. Will go there again to try their lunch items.
What a delightful spot in the middle of a bustling city. Bright and friendly spot to grab a quick breakfast or full on brunch. They also have dinner items on the menu. It feels urban and quaint European all at the same time. Next time I’ll get the fresh bread/ charcuterie/ cheese and wine and picnic with the hubs.
We came here about 3 years ago on a trip to Dallas when they had delicious pastries and coffee and such a good quality vibe. So disappointed in what it turned into now. Just smells like a butcher shop because along with coffee that was still good, they sell frozen meet and produce. Pastries are gone and so is the awesome vibe!
We stopped by twice for breakfast while staying at the Westin next door. For a downtown location the prices are very reasonable and everything is fresh! The bread must be made in house and it is so delicious. Staff is friendly and the place is sparkling clean. My only regret is not coming back to try the lunch choices and gelato !!
It’s been my regular coffee place for my whole 3 weeks long stay in downtown Dallas. They’re amongst the few who understand that a single shot espresso is not the same thing as making a double and throwing away half of it. Breakfast is not bad either. Staff are very nice and friendly. After a few days they will know you by name and that’s a nice touch. A must go if you are downtown and would like a great coffee. They also have great salads and ice cream (on which I cannot comment as I have not tried it)
The Commissary is one of my Dallas all-time favorites! No matter what you get here, you will not be disappointed. The staff are amazingly friendly and attentive - honestly doubling the enjoyment of visiting. Be sure to park in the nearby garage, getting a compensation ticket from the Commissary cashier. Go ahead and ask the staff what they like and enjoy!
Such an amazing concept executed very well. If you live or work in the area you must visit. They sell fresh baked bread, pasties, pasta, and also sell cut meats. Like a small grocery store for the perfect dinner party. Huge wine and beer by the bottle selection. They also have a menu that ranges from breakfast to dinner. The roasted chicken was the best Ive had in my life. Will be coming again very soon.
Tried this spot for breakfast which is not too difficult to get it right. Ordered scrambled eggs for my 4 year, which came too runny for a kid, the bacon was overcooked and salty. I got what was supposed to be sesame bagel with egg and sausage, but that too was undercooked.
Good quick food. Breakfast burrito and breakfast tacos were awesome! Wife had the breakfast bagel and loved it also
Amazing experience. My wife and I entered and were immediately greeted by a very friendly staff. I’d recommend getting half a sandwich and a soup. The portions are large and a sandwich alone is a hearty meal. Beers and champagne available on cooled shelves in the back, and butcher meats in front to get your stomach growling. Good value for the quality of the meal on your plate. So good.
The staff is super nice and the coffee/food is great here! I’m always happy to see Maddie when I come in.
Great spot in Downtown Dallas for terrific dining & food.
We had a salad with a beer, good it worth a visit if you want a quick and good lunch or breakfast in Dallas downtown but not such so outstanding to deserve 5 stars score
Commissary has a good location. It is in the center of the city. I liked the atmosphere inside. Restrooms are super clean. The only thing is I didn’t get why they give me food and coffee to go as I didn’t ask them for to go option. I had avocado toast and latte with skim milk. I asked my egg without jiggle egg white but still egg white was not completely cooked. Coffee was pretty good:)
This place was so cute! We went for breakfast and I got avocado toast with an egg which is simple and it was good. My only complaint was I asked for my egg over easy and my yolk was cooked completely through which was disappointing. We tried some desserts and they were good! We got lemon poppyseed bread, a brownie, and the chocolate chip cookie. They were all pretty good. The choco chip cookie was soft! They have a meat section and their steaks are dry-aged for 45 days which is AWESOME. Cute interior, super friendly staff. I would definitely come back here again!
The Italian sub🙌 great place for a quick grab and go lunch!
Not much common sense or courtesy here. I walked in at 3:45p and the attendant behind the counter looked at me 3 times while he wiped off the coffee machine. After standing there for about 12 minutes, the attendant finally comes over and asks for my order. AFTER I order, he then says they close in 3 minutes and he cant help me. What an A-hole! Great place to come if you want to be ignored and treated poorly.
Awesome food! Not just a cold meat sandwich place. Excellent quality. Almost everything made in house (even the mozzarella).
UPDATE: Found out you can park in a nearby garage and just keep your ticket to get it validated.Okay, this place is great with a Caveat that deserves its capital C. Top-notch service, great coffee and that everything bagel is absolutely one of the best Ive had. Note: It isnt fun to find somewhere to park for it though - especially in the morning which is when it would get its primetime from me. That said, they have a large selection of things that would highly appeal to the downtown-living crowd: a butcher/prepared foods side, some unique snack, drink and grocery items and what seems to be an impressive pastry/bakery chef on site. A pretty comprehensive, low-key shop for anyone who dwells downtown. For us people on the fringe, its a difficult-leaning, but well-met, trek.
Wonderful place to have avocado toast and people-watch!
My favorite place for a well made, wholesome fresh ingredients omlette. Super menu and curious swift staff. Most reasonably priced since there are alternate breakfast sites downtown Dallas that are priced higher with not real advantage in product or service. Listen I just get fed well in a pleasant environment that has a flare for the health conscious. See you at the Commissary, soon!
Wow great dining experience offeres to start or wrap up your day.The space is ligth and airy a very European experience.Staff is cool and knows everyone. The staff is very welcoming and inviting. The menu is simple and well done. The menu could be called chic.Beer is offered as well. The resultant is cozy yet very open with glass. Which allows for great veiws of the street clear into the kitchen.Fresh baked goods offered with great looking cakes and pies.Great spot for a quick stop or a mid day pause.Great teas offer too which is super difficult to find .
Long time patron since opening and former regular. Commissary was a stand out in Downtown when it originally opened but it is no longer worth going to for anything but coffee in the morning.Menu is fraction of what it used to be, food quality is inconsistent (even with their stand out items like the French dip), fresh made items like bread and gelato and more are gone, and hours have been reduced to point its comical.
The food was amazing, my husband thought the prices were a little steep for the portion size on the butcher breakfast, but the oatmeal was huge, and I also had a breakfast burrito with potatoes. Their potatoes are amazing. The service was good and the servers are friendly. It was a quick walk from our downtown hotel and easy to find.
The people who work here are very nice and helpful. This is like a futuristic/ cozy Starbucks with also great tasting coffees and chai tea. I suggest the BBQ pulled pork sandwich! The place has WiFi and chairs to sit in and relax. I would it’s kind of pricy though. The atmosphere was great and friendly!
Amazing croissants, a little on the pricey side
The space was dirty, napkins on the floor, unclean tables. The food wasn’t what we ordered. I ordered a kale Caesar and it came out with spinach. It was fine but just weird to deliver it completely different with no notice. My girlfriend got a biscuit sandwich and it was a block of bread. Then to pay 40 bucks for it all seemed like insult to injury.
We order breakfast from here all the time! The bagel sandwiches are great! They have some delicious lunch options too! Good food and always quick!
Staff was very nice! The coffee was great! Great place to get a quick coffee!
It was great! I got the Italian sandwich, the roast beef and cheddar sandwich, chocolate coffee cake, and a vanilla latte for the drive home. :) Everytime I am downtown and I need to get something to eat the Commissary is one of my go to choices. The quality of the food is always wonderful. You cant go wrong with their coffee. The only reason I gave it 4 stars this time was that on the beef and cheddar sandwich it comes with horseradish mayo which I was aware of when I ordered, but it was so strong that it completely overpowered the rest of the sandwich. Its honestly the only time I have ever been disappointed with something I got there.Overall if you have not been there yet you need to check it out! 🙂
This place is a must visit, the building is a Jewel. Located in downtown Dallas, the substantially modified 1217 Main Street building reopened in December of 2017 with the most striking change to the 1950s-era bank building being the exterior. The building was originally built in 1958 as the Guardian Savings Bank. Having gone through two fires over the last 20 years, among other misfortunes, 1217 Main has become a true revival story, transforming from a liability into an urban asset for both the city and neighborhood. It has been cited as one of ten best structures in Dallas within the last decade by Mark Lamster, the acclaimed architectural critic for The Dallas Morning News.
Very excited to try this place but was very underwhelmed. Sandwiches lacked flavor and were way to salty. Cute inside but would not go again or suggest. Maybe stop in for a coffee?
Solid lunch grub. Sandwiches are fresh and FILLING!
Came here twice for Uber eats and they never spoke nor asked what I wanted! Is it because im black?🤔This is my first time doing uber eats and a bad experience.😔
Commissary is a welcome addition to the growing downtown food scene. The menu and drink options are abundant and the aroma of fresh baked bread is probably the best thing in the world. They just opened and the place has stayed packed so I’d expect a wait but the staff is very courteous and the level of service so far has been really good. The coffee is from counter culture and the baristas serve it up well in all the drinks I’ve sampled. The cold brew is the only thing that wouldn’t get a top rating from me but it’s still pretty good.Quick ready made meals and an in house dry aged meats are the icing on the cake.
Good breakfast biscuit but it was pretty big and too much for me to finish. The breakfast burrito could of used more flavoring. Overall not a bad place to swing by and grab a bite.
Treasure in the west end/ Main Street Area! Their focaccia was delicious. The cacio Pepe ( Cheese & pepper in English) biscuits was super good. Coming from SF where we have great bakeries, this place fills my void while traveling here.Having attentive waiter/ busboy was definitely a plus. We ordered to go and was in a little bit of rush. While we were waiting, the young gentleman asked if he can serve me some samples of gelato while waiting- how sweet was that! Will be back again
Wonderful go-to and to-go spot in the heart of downtown. Breakfast, lunch and dinner have all been good. Their pastries and breads are fresh*, their hamburger (a little spicy!) and steak fries are yummy, and their gelato is sinful. They will even let you try every gelato flavor if you ask! Staff is accommodating and service is quick even when dining in. Highly recommend for a quick lunch with a colleague or just visiting the downtown area and looking for a delightful bite.*If you’re around in the late afternoon, they do half price bakery items!
Cracking sugar icing on a hard sponge black and white cookie, like in Italy. I cant shove enough of them in my pie hole.
Ordered a salad for delivery and while it was really good it was VERY small considering the price tag. They also completely forgot the chicken so I ended up spending $20 on a side salad :(
This place is impressive. Walking through the giant blue door, youre immediately calmed by the mellow music, cool blue tones, and easygoing staff.Although wonderful, the aroma of coffee isnt overpowering or hanging in the air.I grabbed an iced mocha with an extra shot and oat milk, and a chorizo, egg, and cheese breakfast burrito.*Note* their in house made mocha sauce (AWESOME! ) does contain some dairy. Im not dairy free so that was fine. I specified the staff considering what Id ordered and making sure they informed me.The coffee is a dream! The mocha sauce perfectly complements the coffee, and neither ingredient outshines the other. The breakfast burrito...not so much. Its mostly a grease soaked tortilla with no flavor even after adding their green salsa.Long story short: great ambiance, amazing staff, even better coffee!
I am not downing them as a company at all.Today was my 1st experience the service was Fantastic. the food not so much. The coffee tasted burnt and the Egg bagel sandwich I got tasted Horrible! The manager agreed to a full refund, Wich I hope is true because I really dont want to return. I am NOT downing the place cause it is a Beautiful place with Great service. Just not my type of flavor☮❤🙏🖖
Great! Indoor dining when none is availabledue to Covid. Reasonable prices and cordial staff. A veritable oasis for this man in a deserted city.
Do not go to this place. It took multiple times to get just a ham and cheese on a bagel. I can understand why there were other people in the place complaining about their orders. Don’t waste your time or money on this place.
Great breakfast and good coffee. People are supper friendly and they customize orders to customers liking.
Great curry chicken salad sandwich!
Very pretty looking
The food is good and the people are very professional, a clean environment too
Great coffee and one of the best bagel sandwiches Ive had in Dallas. Great ambiance in Downtown Dallas, makes you feel like youre in NYC - Im a fan.
Great cortado! Jalapeno cheddar breakfast biscuit is expensive, $8, but the thing weighs like 1.5lbs! Awesome spot for espresso and pretty much anything to get you thru the day.
Ok scene for Cafe food. I love this place, excellent food & service. The service was friendly and observant. The bill was fair I would say.
