My husband and I got our open water diver certification here and we would highly recommend beach cities scuba to anyone! We did our 4 open water dives from the Riviera boat that docks at Dana Point Harbor. The staff was amazing, knowledgeable, patient and kind. Brittany was a super awesome instructor. She was extremely thorough and helpful. We truly appreciated her patience and wonderful instructions! Thank You to the entire staff for a great experience!

This place is not about customer service. If you like to buy something and not return it because of quality or some other issue then go ahead and purchase from them. I personally like buying from company’s that stand behind their product.

I was taken on my first dive and told not to wear my mask or snorkel by one of the instructors until after we reached the point it was too deep to touch bottom. I After entry swimming past the waves I was splashed in the face and could not catch my breath. The dive was aborted. I attempted to use the rig for breathing however I was choking. I complained as this was supposed to be a private lesson. It clearly states in the PADI class to always have your mask on and snorkel or reg in your mouth while in the water. I was not refunded for the class. Only partial $200. The instructor made it sound like he saved me instead of putting me in danger. I was traumatized and am not in any hurry to finish the class anywhere else. Very scary and unprofessional.

Got my dive cert with them and they are amazing. Perry and Sara both did all 4 of my open water dives and were both great. They made sure I was comfortable and answered all my questions. Great staff.

Decent dive shop. They are friendly but you never know what youre getting when you book a trip. Ive done three trips with them. 1 was ok, 1 sucked terribly (if you get Kevin, good luck), but my last one was awesome (Tim W). Id definitely do the boat over the shore dive. The shore dive was not worth the money. The shore dive is 1 dive but has a guide. The boat dive is 2 dives but you are completely on your own. Which if youre solo, sucks. So itll cost you extra for a guide and they dont tell you that. Overall Ill keep coming back but Ill request Tim from now on.

The Beach Cities Scuba – Dana Point dive store is one of my “Go To” Dive Stores in the Southern California area. Can no longer download from my dive computer because of Windows 10. ScubaPro told me I had to contact the dive shop that sold me the dive computer. Ive called three times and left messages and still have not gotten a call back.Are you serious?! Youre just now responding to this after three years?!

I have gotten very good gear recommendations from this shop. The regulator I bought from them 8 years ago is still going strong! The Halo drysuit undergarment Andrew recommended is as promised the warmest Ive ever owned.

Edit- increased a star since after the original review owner contacted me to say after review I was charged parts estimate as well as actual parts cost and I received a refund bringing it back to the cost of my in store quote.Called for service on regulator was quoted ~$120 for rush service, go there for service and written quote was for $215 then pick it up and it was $297. Absolute joke, not hard to provide a proper consistent quote. Would be 1 star but at least it seems to be quality on the actual service done. Next time back to Sea Stallions, only reason I didnt go there originally was they couldnt rush it in time. Store was also an unorganized mess.

I was certified through Beach Cities and bought all of my gear through them. The whole experience was really great! All of the instructors made me feel comfortable and everyone in the shop was really knowledgeable and helpful. :)

My wife and I got certified at Beach Cities Scuba and I highly recommend them! They are extremely knowledgeable, flexible and have a complete process for all levels of diving. I would certainly do it again and look forward to going out on their boat or seeing them at the Cove for some local beach diving!

I signed up with Beach Cities through a Groupon. The ultimate price was much more than I originally intended after buying all the gear, etc. Overall, the instructors were good and were nice. I think if I had gone into it expecting the sticker shock or knowing the ultimate amount I would end up spending, I would have had a higher opinion.For example, the Groupon included you walking to the beach with your gear (and back, up the hill after your day was done) and entering the water from the shore. Whereas, if you upgraded, then you would be on a boat the entire time.

I have been diving through Beach Cities Scuba for 13 years. I noticed La Was comment and know a little background here. This individual was NOT diving with Beach Cities Scuba when she was injured. The reviewer also wanted a cash refund, which is not possible when cash was not used to purchase the gift certificate. The offer was made to refund via credit card and La Wa refused. He then went to every website he could find and gave this review on here AFTER speaking to the owner.

The team at beach cities are a great, very knowledgeable, group of guys. They are a local shop that knows all the local spots and quirks. I held back from 5 stars just because of the price (which sometimes is more than available elsewhere) but with the price comes multiple advantages. 1st: supporting a local shop; 2nd: youre buying gear from somebody that likely has personal experience with it; 3rd: they know the conditions you will be in and can are recommendations accordingly. anyhow, good experiences all around.

I originally found BCS through Groupon. I completed my Open Water Certification with them. The store staff was extremely helpful in finding comfortable gear. Prices were reasonable. The In-Class training was casual and interesting. The dive instructors great; class was 5 students to 1 instructor and we were able to get all our skill practices.

Please do not support this business. My 14 year old daughter was severely burned 6 weeks ago and recently got out of the hospital. She was given a gift certificate to Beach cities Scuba by the fire department because they had heard she was in the middle of getting certified when the accident occurred. She will probably never scuba dive again and there is nothing in the store that she could use. I went into the store and asked Andrew if he could refund the gift certificate so she could buy something that she could use now and he said absolutely but had to check with the owner. Several weeks worth of calling the store and Andrews assurances that the check would be available any day, it never arrived. The last time I called Andrew was not allowed to speak to me and I was called back by Rika, who is very difficult to understand, and she informed me that the owner will not refund the gift certificate. She could not have been less compassionate or understanding. I asked if I could talk to the owner, and she said he would call me back. That was over a week ago, and no phone call. I am a small business owner myself, and if the situation was presented to me I would in a heartbeat refund the gift certificate. They are not losing any money by refunding the gift certificate, they are being compassionate. Please spend your money with dive stores that have a heart and deserve your business. I for one would never spend a dime in their stores and hopefully you will not either.

My dad (an experienced diver) is helping me get into it, now that Im studying Oceanography and Marine Bio. He used to go to Laguna Sea Sports, and now as BCS, its still great. Ive now been to the locations in Newport and Laguna. The one in Newport in particular was extremely helpful. We were able to talk openly and discuss things from a customer perspective, as well as divers. (except me, who will in fact soon be a diver) Im happy with their prices, stock, and service so far. Im currently waiting on a mask order online, and look forward to taking the classes in hopefully near future!

We have been customers of Beach Cities Scuba since March of 2014. With no experience, we attained our Open Water, Advanced Open Water and are now just shy of completing our Master Scuba Diver certification. Specifically Chob, DJ, Alex and Linda have made this journey not only painless, but they are always there for the needed encouragement and patience. TOP NOTCH instructors! We have purchased all of our dive equipment from Chob and have researched that he can not be beat on price. We Thank you for all the patience you have shown CJ and I and our wacky schedules.
