On my third tractor from them and have doing business with them since early 80s not only local and convenient but always helpful. Very knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge. And always willing to give free advise and guidance/ schematics as I like to maintain/repair my own equipment. Chris is usually working the counter. Always a good experience.
Construction sign misleading, if you have to make delivery to west end and are 136 low height is more than 1/2mile,away.
Brought my well running but 20 year old lawn tractor which I paid well over $4000 for new, (plus another $2000 over the years in maintenance) simply because the PTO was not working. I suspected the switch, but also wanted a regular seasonal service, which I did not have time to do myself. When I brought it in, the service guy said he would not even work on my tractor, because the mower deck was old and dangerous. (Presumably, if I had left the deck at home, he would have just fixed the tractor?)He then told me there was no replacement deck available, so I should just buy a new tractor, at $6000-$9000. He then gave me a service ticket and said he would have a closer look over the next day or so. A few days later he called, and told me that the situation was worse than he thought: Even if they could repair it, (remember, it was just the PTO, the tractor was running great and was cutting grass well just the week before the PTO issue surfaced), it would be thousands of dollars for the unobtainable deck which I would have to buy piece by piece, a new clutch, (neither of which was needed) and a soon to fail head gasket (because a mouse had built a nest in there, they said, so it was probably running hot and doomed to fail very soon). Not worth it to fix, they said, so I should just buy a new one. After telling me all this, they handed me a bill for $55 for serving me up a nice pack of lies, (They never touched the tractor, as I am sure if they even bothered to, they would have known the clutch was fine, and it was indeed just the switch), and then told me if I bought a new one they would happily refund the $55. (SO NICE of THEM!!)At that, I loaded my tractor into my truck and went home, ordered the new PTO switch on ebay for $21 dollars, (where I also found many dealers who still have the unobtainable mower deck in stock), spent less than 5 minutes installing the new PTO switch, and am now back to cutting my 3 acre lawn with my tractor that they refused to work on and charged my $55 to tell me so. THIS IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH AMERICA! Corporate GREED. Total waste of my time, and it would have been a total waste of a perfectly good GT 225. I used to have brand loyalty to JOHN DEERE, but now I think, why would I ever buy a new tractor for $6-9000 dollars when my experience is that, in the future, when it needs a small part, they may again refuse to work on it, and try to talk me into spending thousands of dollars more when I needed only a $21 dollar switch!!!!
Great service- took time to help me diagnose an issue with my JD and I was able to get it started back up. Highly recommend.
Like another reviewer, I brought in an older John Deere for servicing. It would start but was running funny. I was told not only was it not worth fixing, but they would take it off our hands and I should buy a new one. I declined and once it was home I tried starting it again and it still ran wrong. I removed the key and flipped it upside down and it started and now runs and cuts perfectly.Went in yesterday for a part for a 2nd tractor and while he sold me a compatible part ($20), wouldnt answer any of my questions about installing it since it was different from the original I had brought in. Ive never seen anything like it. As I asked a question he just stared at me and said absolutely nothing. 2nd question, same result. I ended up leaving and Im sure Ill if I cant figure it out Ill find a you tube video that will help.I wont go back
The only person I will work with at West End Power is Chris. He is very knowledgeable, customer oriented and nice. Chris is there most of the time. Another guy there is rude and not customer oriented
Purchased a new x320 tractor, cutting deck and snowblower front attachment about 7 years ago from the store in New Milford. That was a pleasant experience. When my carburetor started flooding this summer I decided to uphold my customer loyalty and brought it in to West End in Danbury for the repair. The quote they gave me was really high. The service tech spoke to me like Im completely uninformed, which I am not. Ive worked on many small engines over the years and am familiar with how these things run. The worst part is they would not give me back the tractor without the mower deck plastic chute cover which I took off many years ago and have never used. I only cut the meadow a few times per summer and find it helps the grass to disperse rather than pile up. He gave me a whole big lecture about this and that, refusing to acknowledge that the grass blows out better without it. Anyway, Im taking it to Big Johns in New Milford. I should have done that in the first place and saved the $110 pick-up/delivery fee. Oh well, lesson learned.
Purchased and serviced my Wheel-Horse tractor for years. Dropped me like a hot potato when they started carrying John Deer.
