I love going here and paroozing the manga comics and other cool stuff. I just recently picked up an amazing manga compendium and an awesome batman comic. I would highly recommend this place the atmosphere is amazing and welcoming to everyone.

Decent selection of modern comics and cards, but mainly sells older stuff. about half the store is dedicated to old CDs, VHS tapes, and DVDs. Neat to look through though!

There is an ample opportunity for a professionally-minded person to open a comic, cards, and collectibles store in Davis. PT staff is fine, but owner Dan is rude and dismissive—notably to his younger clientele—which is a bad idea in a college town. Perhaps he’s resentful of students in comparison to his life as the real-world embodiment of the Simpsons’ Comic Book Guy.The store is aptly named, as it’s bizarro how he is still in business.

Walked around the store and asked 5 customers if they were employees because I was trying to buy something. I didn’t know I passed the owner because he didn’t speak up or offer service. I was able to finally asked my question and he mumbled a response with a poor unenthusiastic attitude. Too bad, not gonna be a customer here..

The man at the counter was possibly one of the rudest employees I’ve ever met. I tried asking questions about the products and a sale happening on the 30th, and I was met with short, sarcastic and dismissive comments. I don’t know how he expects me to buy something from his store if he is acting like that. Go to Davis Cards and Games instead, they were much more welcoming!

The peeps working at the cashier were chill and welcoming. The products were fair in terms of pricing so dont believe the other reviews.

Great items at market prices! Service is not above and beyond! Guarantee that items work but probably don’t check every video game to make sure it operates! Everything is perhaps inspected visually! Lost a loyal customer!

I was looking through the YuGiOh binder and chose a card from the $2 section. When I called the man over to purchase it, he said $5. When I told him that it was from the $2 section, he yelled at me, snatched the card from my hand, and stormed-off, face red. Definitely should not be running such a store, especially in Davis. I would advise any of you to check-out Davis Cards and Games, walk-distance from this place, even if youre looking for YuGiOh. Its beyond me how this place is still in business. Believe the negative reviews on here: very few places in Davis have such a low rating.

Its a great, albeit small, comic book shop. However, they have so much more than just comics. They have a VAST collection of DVDs, blurays, and VHS tapes you can rent as well as a lot of retro stuff like record players and legacy consoles. They have a decent collection of records and mangas to browse, and have board games you can purchase as well. They also have a really nice collection of mtg, yugioh, and Pokemon cards and boosters. Everytime Im in town I always pay them a visit to browse and see what new inventory they have.

Got to talk to the owner who has owned and operated the place for over 30 years, super laid back guy who was friendly and very busy processing stuff . Not sure if he has younger employees or if it’s just him but hopefully has someone helping him as there’s a ton of goodies in there . I’ll definitely be stopping back if I’m in the the Davis area .

Went in to see what their stock on Pokémon cards were. Extremely over priced, minimum of 3x or more for sealed products. I politely asked the older guy there if they would be willing to move on some of the Shining Fates tins and was completely ignored. Thinking he didn’t hear, I asked politely again only to be cut off and demanded to never ask him that again. Priced gouged products and extremely rude service. There are plenty of better businesses to take spend your money at. Avoid this place at all costs!

Marks up back issues after customers dig for them. Ouch. Kind of a scam system imo. Learn to value the customer over the sale.

They do have pokemon cards, but theyre super overpriced (2x-3x higher than retail). Like I get if it was like $10-30 higher than market, but $200 for a hidden fates box?? Thats kinda insane.

Called in advance to ask if they were selling Pokemon Shining Fates at MSRP on release day. The employee said yes, but I think he misunderstood me because when the store opened, the products were market price: about 2x to 3x higher than MSRP. Idk, I probably wouldnt return. I also had very bad luck with my pulls here.

This place is the Mecca of board gaming/comic stores in the Davis area. If you havent visited you simply must! They carry times upon times of Tabletop RPG rule books and adventures. They have board games galore! The employees are kind and if you have any questions about the products, they are extremely helpful. They have an amazing comic book collection, and to top it all off they have various new and vintage merchandise from all sorts of different properties.

The owner was incredibly rude. Multiple people have had issues with his condescending attitude. Im not asking for much, just treat people with decency

For all the people saying “bad customer service”, I’m afraid these people have been taught to think that every single employee of every store has to be super happy all the time and constantly put on a face.But you have to realize that the people working sales at a store have lives too.This place is one of my favorite locations in all of Davis, and by far the best card store I’ve been too.The employees are nicer than the other cards and games store in Davis, and they have a bigger selection and better prices.I pray to god every night this place never closed down.

I had no idea this was a DVD rental place. They have so many titles for a fair price and a subscription service if you think youll be stopping by more than a couple times a month. Cute little comic and game shop in the heart of Downtown Davis.

Amazing selection if youre looking for movies, comics, old video games, or other pop culture merchandise. The owner is extremely helpful and friendly. This store also has great deals if you just want to rent movies as well.

The guy in there originally told me the hard cover books are priced as marked but when i go to the register with the book he tried to make me pay more than the price printed on the back. Thats the only time Ive had a shop do that to me. Theyll never get my money in this place.

I dont know why I keep giving this place a chance. Besides coming to get some nostalgia - everything else about it makes me feel less enthusiastic about being a geek. Either management needs to change or they really need to figure out a better way to make everyone feel welcome. Unless you really need to rent old movies or find old toys - being a geek might be easier online than going to this store.

Great place. Friendly ownership, vintage toys, movie rentals, comics, Pokemon, and more. My 3 sons and I frequent this place quite often.

Horrible customer service, very dirty, and unorganized. Probably good to rent movies, but upon calling, the man was very rude and uninformed. He told me if I wanted to know about an item I should just come into the store. I had a long drive so that was inconvient advise.When I entered the store I was greeted with a death stare and a mumble. The entire sales floor smelt as if somebody hadnt washed themselves in days, dealing with homeless people I know the smell well.The man with the beard when asked a question was vague, unsure, and quiet. I could only imagine this is the guy on the phone. The store is poorly organized and very dusty. Bad selection.Very bad experience and I would not suggest going there unless this was the only place in the world to find a specific comic book or if you can tough out the retched smell for a movie rental.Its only getting a extra star because I cant think of any place that does physical movie rentals.

If, for some reason, you love that classic disorganized, dismissive, and hostile vibe that has permanently stunted the growth of comics culture then this is the place for you. Seemed to be confused why I would want the newest issue of a very popular comic and irritated to be asked where something was located in their inscrutable filing system. Clearly someones personal domain rather than a community space for shared interests.

Its ok for the rare find. Good price on the box comics. Other things are alittle pricey. Take your time when you look.

Came here from rocklin to buy some magic cards, baffled to see them literally $30 more than the online price, and labelled lightly played. Asked if he would match the price... fair I didnt have cash at the time, wouldnt budge, got my hands on some cash, STILL wouldnt take the price down .. ARE YOU KIDDING??... DO NOT buy magic cards here. Save your money, the owner will shark you and get you for 30% more!

I like a good game- and-movie pit. Its small but comfy. They dont do MtG drafts, though, or game nights(to my knowledge), which is vaguely disappointing

The best. Ever. I have been doing business with Dan while living outside of the are for the better part of a decade. His customer service is simply flawless and I will continue to use Bizarro World Davis as my go to comic book shop as long as they are in operation. Highest Recommendation Possible.

The comic book collection is really good and they also have plenty of games.But I never saw the cashier smiling. Neither did he say anything else than the price of the item I bought.Not exactly what you would expect for a store in California.

Nice selection of comics. I found a series of comics here, that Ive been searching for for a year - at a much better price than what I found online btw. The younger worker went out of his way to help me look for it too. Awesome customer service 👍

Made a call to ask to see if they had any of the products I was looking for, was greeted with just a hello?, being lax is fine but being unprofessional is another. I almost hung up while the guy was talking, because all he did was meander as if he had a pressing matter and not specify if he had anything inquired about. If he asked me to hold because he was with a Customer I’d understand. Though it sounded like he was merely talking to his friends. I dont know how unprofessional card shops last this long. I know through this interaction I wouldnt want to even step into this shop.

This is the ONLY comic book store in Davis and its a poor one. I went in search of a comic I wanted that had just released and when I asked for it was told, Oh who can keep track of firsts theres always soooo many. Which I get but thats not good customer service. The general layout of this place is confusing and disorganized. Bad if you want to collect ongoing recent comics. Good if you want really old things. You can rent physical movies here which I guess is a plus, but I dont plan to go back at all.

Great small video rental/ comic shop, 25+ years in business selling comic books; lots of back issues. Large selection movies to rent. Also a good selection of retro games from Atari, Sega (Saturn/32x, ect), Nintendo, XBox and Playstation as well as all sorts of variety of figurine toys.

A pillar of the community, Bizzaro World has a wide assortment of comic books, board and card games (including Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon), D&D books, and movies. Essentially, if youre looking for something within Nerd Culture, you dont stand a better chance of finding it anywhere else than at Bizzaro World. Plus, they have an OG Blockbuster Video rental in the back of the shop that is fun to browse and rent from. It reminds me of days passed.

I should have stayed away when i called just by the way the guy answered the phone. He answered hello and nothing else i had to double check with him to see if it was the store i was calling to ask a question, that right off the bat is not good phone etiquette nor professionalism. Theyd get more buissness if they improved that alone. I asked if they bought pokemon cards and the guy said they did. And that was that no bye no nothing. So i drive all the way from Sacramento to davis and right away noticed this place was pretty dirty cluttured and unorganized. The guy at the counter didnt even ask to see my cards he just put his hands out to grab my cards expecting me to hand them to him so i just set them down infront of me, he then proceeded to quickly go through them without checjing to see what was there then asked me where are the rare cards so i showed him a stack and he set aside my shadowless mewtwo charizard and zapdos and just starts pulling them right out of the case bending the cards to get to them! When i told him to be careful with my cards that i NEVER treated like this his reponse was i handle cards all the time! I dont care theyre not yours!You can tell the guy has anxiety issues or something because he just kept swaying side to side the entire time he was looking at the cards then had the nerve to tell me hed only give me 20 dollars for the 3! Mind you there in perfect condition and probably have a slight bend to them now because of this guys handling! That was a bit insulting really. That was the last time ill ever go to that store luckily there was good food around so it gave me something to do.

Great place to find vintage games and conics

Grew up in Winters and used to shop here. Used to be a clean and nice store to shop for comics and games but since they took over the old used bookstore on 3rd street the place smells like BO and the selection seems like its gone downhill. Maybe its suffering from nostalgia?Word of caution: DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFORMATION. Was harassed by a collections agent for an overdue video rental? Agent was unprofessional and aggressive. Had to dig out that the person they were looking for has a similar name and lived in another city. Store manager all but refused to help when I called the store to register complaint. Will not be doing business here again after that experience with their management.
