There are so many clever gifts here to make a loved one laugh.My sister had a rough day and I wanted to give her a great reason to smile. A coffee mug with Jesus grinning and using a hairdryer was the perfect gift for her, a stylist. I got her some Bob Ross magnets, too, and made her evening!Their staff, Rachel, was helpful and seemed genuinely happy to help me look around.This is the third time I bought gifts there, and they are always a hit. Some people are just cry babies lol. This store is so amazing and the girls that work here are kind hearted. They are strong in their beliefs but won’t judge you on yours so I’m surprised at the Karen’s that visit this place !!! They have good local quality stuff with a big sense of community. Let me start this review by asking you a question: are you a sheep or a ram? It’s an easy question to answer. Sheep are those people who go with the flow and don’t challenge a lot of hard issues that may come up in their daily lives. Rams, well they go headfirst. They want to throw themselves out there and make a statement with what they have. Heart Mercantile is a store for made by Rams for Rams.Heart gives you the tools to be the Ram within your group of friends, work colleagues, and of course your family. Not only am I a Ram after buying and using the products from Heart, but also my dog is now the ram of our block with her “Free Kisses” Bandana (see picture for ram authentication).I haven’t even gotten to the best part yet though. The products are amazing, but what is even better is the Superhero Staff that work at Heart on a daily basis. I personally Have never had any issues with anyone from there and they have always been extremely helpful with my ram purchases. Anytime we have friends or folks coming in from out of town, Heart Mercantile is listed as one our stops on our Dayton Tour.So let me ask you that same question again, but in a different format: What do you WANT to be? A Sheep or a Ram and how are you going to become it?

The ladies at Heart made my Christmas shopping very safe and easy! I ordered online and I was able to pick my order up at the store. One of the ladies was kind enough to bring it out to the doorway for me and even waved at my husband in the car, that really made my day. Thanks again ladies!

This place is the cutest little shop in the Oregon District. Discovered randomly a few weeks back and decided to make an impromptu visit today to pick up a very special sticker and ended up walking out with a bunch of other little items that I am happy I was able to get there. If you like quirky, offensive, or just current popular culture references, I highly recommend a visit. I go to the Oregon District about once a month and always stop in Heart. They have some cool stuff, a bit pricey but I get it. The only thing I would suggest is maybe change up the music, Unedited Cardi B, plus all the staff cussing like they were at their buddies house. I drop an F bomb as much as the next person but in a store that small it can be a bit much. Maybe it was because I went there later In the day, almost 7 but have seen it during the day. This is a killer little boutique down on 5th street in the Oregon District! I stopped in real quick to see if they might have something I could pick up for my wife.... It turns out they have all sorts of killer stuff for both of us.This awesome young lady named Brittany helped me out! (killer ink BTW) She was crazy cool, funnier than hell and she made a killer suggested for a particular pair of socks that I ended up rocking in my Close that evening! Easily my favorite shop in Dayton. The owners are wonderful, hilarious folks that are always giving back to their community. I absolutely adore the constant tongue in cheek attitude, you can tell they have fun and have very few, if any, f*cks to give. They offer all kinds of items - shirts, coffee mugs, note pads, most of them being Dayton focused or cheeky one-liners. We have a number of their items on display at our bar - we’re lucky to have them in Dayton. Highly recommend.

I hadn’t been in this store prior to the tornadoes. Let’s face it, when I’m in the OD, I’m typically having drinks, not so much shopping. The way these women stepped up to help and inform our community made me curious.I went in and they do not disappoint. There are fun gifts and cool items everywhere. I’ve been in several times now and don’t feel like I’ve seen all they have to offer. I’ve read how others think they’re too pricey. I’m not here to say otherwise, but for the unique gift items, I’d say they’re right on par for a boutique and there is something at all price points.CAUTION: if you lack a sense of humor, this store ( and the OD in general) is not for you.

I take people here every time I have guests from out of town. Its a must-visit every time Im in the Oregon District and no shopping trip is complete without buying a greeting card or a new mug. My friends loved their festive vagina Christmas ornaments so much several left them hanging up year round.

I love it here. This is a good place to hang out, shop, meet a new friend, meet up with old friends. It’s close to nearly every other good spot in the Oregon and if you’re gift shopping for anyone last minute, you’ve struck gold in Heart Mercantile. Plus, and this is not said lightly, the owners and employees are bar none some of the kindest, most generous humans in the 937. I adore them as people because they consistently go above and beyond for their neighbors and to give people the benefit of the doubt. Me and my son have visited Heart Mercantile a few times. The employees are all friendly, fun and they know a lot about the Oregon District. I have always experienced outstanding customer service and I can spend a long time looking at all of the funny quotes on their items.

I have never shopped at this store myself but have reviewed pictures and they appear to have a nice selection of Novelty items. However Im appalled at information I am hearing regarding their cyber bullying. They look wholesome on the outside and appear to care for their community however they are continually attacking someone in their community for FREEDOM of SPEECH. If they continue to harass those who stand up for what they believe in then what was this country built on? It sounds to me like the owner of this fine establishment doesnt have the strength to take some criticism without getting up in arms about it.I honestly cannot believe that they have supporters in their community that are condoning this behavior. Bullying increases someones chances of self-harm, suicide, and the shootings you have been seeing in our country. I would think with Daytons recent shooting that behavior like this would be STOPPED in its tracks. I guess people either dont see clear and blatant bullying or they are naive enough to join in on the harassment. I am choosing to not stand for this behavior! I will be reporting your to stopbullying.gov and Better Business Bureau.

I was so excited to go to this store for the first time. They had some cute things but between the prices being way too high for the product and the customer service being non existent- I left with nothing. I was ignored while 3+ employees cursed and spoke inappropriately. I was their only customer and was not acknowledged at all in the 10 minutes I was in the store.

I have been into Heart Mercantile a few times and have left unimpressed each time. While the items are cute and unique, they are incredibly pricey and the staff isn’t super friendly.I was recently drawn to a post on Facebook as well where they chose to bully/attack an individual that left a poor review due to the store having inappropriate language on their outdoor sign.I do not think it is ever appropriate to tear someone else down simply because you do not agree with their stance or values. Every comment on that post is of someone pushing a drama narrative. Instead, Heart could have chosen to respond differently and eliminate the opportunity for others to attack this individual and make fun of him/his child.As an aside-I imagine it was mentioned that his child was an honor student because it takes some children longer to learn to read quickly and correctly. Instead-both the company and community chose to attack and put him down rather than looking at the situation from a more understanding perspective.For all the community good you can do, you can just as easily take that good away by engaging in and instigating immature posts on social media.**In response to the business feedback on my review:Not once did you take ownership for being in the wrong. That shows poor character and a lack of professionalism. If you are so worried about your own children you may want to consider showing them how a business should be handled professionally and not teach them that it’s ok to call people out on social media and attack them/allow your fan base to attack them simply because they share more wholesome values than you do. I personally would not want my children reading vulgar signs, so I understand where your reviewer Joshua was coming from.How you handled his review ultimately left you with less business, not more. Had you not handled it unprofessionally I wouldn’t have given you a one star review.
