Purchased this beautiful bonsai tree today! I hadn’t been here in years, but I remembered that they had a huge selection of bonsai trees. I was not disappointed! Picking one out was a little intimidating, but they were happy to help me pick something in my budget and set me up for success! They provided great service and took the time to explain the different choices and educate me on how to care for my new bonsai. This place really is a gem and I was happy to support a local business!
Awesome place. The bonsai trees are amazing. Great staff thats very helpful. Alan essentially gave me a half hour lesson in bonsai completely for free. I hadnt even bought a tree yet. Would recommend to anyone wanting to get their next bonsai or looking to get started in the hobby.
Such an amazingly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. The owner is an absolute gem of a person who took the time to really talk to my 10 year old daughter about starting her hobby, and all that it entails. Its the little things that truly count, and I have nothing but respect and gratitude for the staff here.
My husband and I stopped in here about a month ago and took home an adorable bonsai tree at a wonderful price. We stood and talked to Pete for quite some time and he gave us some care tips for it! We could have talked to him for hours. Wonderful place with an amazing selection of plants.
With the help of the staff, I was able to identify 2 mystery plants I recently adopted, as well as make plans to provide better environments for them. The advice and recommendations folks have shared have been so appreciated as I start my gardening adventure. They carry such a great variety of things, too!
This greenhouse is delightfully-sketchy, and I say that with the utmost affection. As someone who’s been in many greenhouses, I find that those that are slightly disorganized, often have plants that aren’t your average big box store staples.Being later in the season, the stock was lower, but there was still a nice selection of plants; outdoor, houseplants, and a huge selection of bonsai. There’s also a large selection of pots, trellises, and supplies. Prices were decent too.
Bonsai heaven. Lots of beautiful and rare plants at great prices.
A true treasure of a garden center! Family owned and run with knowledgeable staff available for questions working around every corner of the premises. Beautiful trees from gorgeous weeping Japanese Maples to a whole roomful of bonsais planted and grown by the owner himself, one as old as 80 years! Beautiful hangng baskets, staghorn ferns, angel wing begonias are just a few of the interesting finds I spied on my first trip there. If in the area take a little time and make a visit to the North Dayton Garden Center. The much loved flowers and plants will cast their spell and beckon you back!!
Not only do I love walking around the garden center but their plants are Hardy as heck. Ive bought several for my friends and family all of whom are really bad at taking care of the simplest of plants have yet to lose their babe. I can also attest, literally nothing I do to these plants outside of tearing them out of the soil has killed them. Im talking straight up forgetting about them for weeks, leaving them out in direct sun and heat, overwatering, and just general neglect. Heck, Ive got a ghost pepper plant thats still in the plastic container I bought it in five months ago and its grown a thick trunk and is starting to bud. At this point Im just seeing how far itll go like this.I should say though, please take care of your plants. Im a horrendous example of quality botanical careWhen I say I recommend these people, I mean I highly recommend them. Ive had nothing but positive interactions with the people there and the quality of their product speaks for itself.
Certainly one of the best garden centers in our area.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Pete helped us select the perfect tree for our backyard.
Beautiful selection. Very, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I couldnt be happier with my purchases and will return again before Summer!
World-class expertise here from fantastic staff and ownership. Love it.
Very nice place and Pete and his staff are very helpful. Thanks Pete and we will be back again. 👍
I’m not sure what I’m missing. This place truly looks post apocalyptic.
Great place Ive been going forever my family gos here great place . So friendly.. its the best.
Wow, this place was a hole. Other than the newest seasonals everything was dead and in terrible condition.
Love this place! They have a great selection of plants, and the staff is very knowledgeable. Kim always goes above and beyond to make sure were taken care of
It was my good fortune to want pansies just as they were on sale. Their plants are excellent quality.
Bonsai madness!...... Friendly service and so much variety! Well be back!
Great place have been coming here since I was a kid, now as an adult
Amazing place!Great customer service! They have so many plants and trees to pick from and a variety of plant care etc.Now my absolute favorite store!
Nice selection, but hard to find prices or plant identification.
What a delightful experience. We showed up knowing we wanted 7-8 evergreen and some hardwoods. We were greated by the owner who was a joy to work with. Years of knowledge and a sense of humor to boot. His knowledge and willingness to help earned a customer for life.
Amazing. Extremely helpful employees. Definitely recommend this place!
I have been going to North Dayton Nursery for well over 20-25 years. The plants are always beautiful and the family and staff are wonderful.
Great prices. Great people 🙂
I have shopped here for years and the customer service is usually pretty good. I will say that the quality of plant has drastically gone down over time. Bushes and trees are yellowed out and look unhealthy. The selection isnt quite what it used to be and things are quite a bit overpriced compared to other nurseries. Great family and I still try to support them when I can.
No prices on Bonsai treee, could have different price tables, not a great way of doing business, was like being at a Flea market with no prices on items, you ask how much and they know your interested so they can tell you whatever.Thx Garry
Great place and Pete is pretty nice.
Dont waste your time. Disorganized poor quality
Beautiful plants for garden and indoors. Huge bonsai selection. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about plants, planting and care.
Spent some time today with Pete as he gave recommendations the types of trees we have been looking for. A wealth of information and a pleasure to deal with. We will be back.
A Dayton gardening / plant enthusiasts staple. Staff is very knowledgeable, friendly eager to assist with any needs. Very reasonably priced too. I buy garden and plants here every year. Thanks guys
Nice selection of flowers, shrubs...
The lady working was very nice! I bought a very pretty ivy and my sister picked up a couple plants as well. Prices were super affordable and lots to look at and chose from!
Didnt have exactly what I was looking for (herbs), but otherwise great store. They have an entire greenhouse of bonsai trees! How cool is that?
My go to place for plants and tree information.
Great visit with Pete! Learned about bonsai plants, love, and life. Always a good experience there. So very much more to his place!
Almost none of the trees had information about them, like how big, sun/shade, etc. Guess they are expecting us to look it up online.
Went there today after hearing a commercial on whio 1290 that trees were 50 to 70% off. Well first of all the worker said trees were not on sale. And personally even if they were 90% off it would still be over priced. Most the trees looked like they were dying. Root balls were dry everything was a mess. I must say the end of season clearances at Lowes and walmart are much better.
Bought some flowers and tomatoes. Large selection.
This is a great place. We went for a Jade plant and left with an education on the plants we purchased. The customer service was great. Willing to help a novice learn about horticulture. We found great deals this time of year on plants, Plus some lights and bird feeders. I would recommend that you stop in and check it out yourself!
Very helpful
I absolutely LOVE this place. Not only is the atmosphere super unique and pretty, but the employees go above and beyond for their customers. My boyfriend and I purchased a Jade tree from them back when we first started dating about 3 years ago - for a very reasonable price, might I add! After about 2 and a half years, the tree started to die, and we tried everything to save it but nothing seemed to work. So, we took it back to North Dayton Garden Center to see what they had to say about what was going on. They spent a good hour talking with us about what could have happened to it and ways that we could try to save it. I ended up asking if we could leave our tree in their care for the time being since it was in such a fragile state. They happily agreed to help us nurse it back to health free of charge. After about one month, we got a call from the nursery with some bad news... our tree didnt make it. We thanked them for trying everything they could to save the tree and were ready to leave it at that.A couple of weeks later, I received a voicemail from the nursery informing me that they decided to re-plant another Jade tree for us and it was ready to be picked up...FREE OF CHARGE. I was shocked. I immediately called them back and offered to pay them for their extremely kind and generous services, but they insisted on the tree being free of charge. I couldnt believe it! I had never been treated like such a valuable customer in my entire life.Everything mentioned above, along with their passion and knowledge of horticulture is what makes North Dayton Garden Center the best nursery in the Dayton area. Thank you guys so much for all that you do!!
If you need grass seed, Pete is the man to see. The most knowledgeable in the area!
Ive been going here this year since they first open and if you really want to get plants that are amazing you have to go when they first open up because people know the reputation of North Dayton Garden Center and if they buy everything up its first come first serve because they grow everything at the Garden Center so if you go after Mothers Day youre going to get the things that are left over after Mothers Day and it may not look too impressive to you if you want the North Dayton Garden Center experience you have to get there before Mothers Day there are still nice shrubs and things on the outside Conversation Pieces as far as your shrubs go very exotic shrubs really nice I dont think that you cannot find anywhere else that includes Lowes Home Depot Meijer gray exotic looking things sometime around the middle of June they should be having their sales on their flowers and things I know right now they have impatience and a variety of different colors they have begonias they have geraniums you buy one you get one free theyre a dollar apiece they have hot pink they have fuchsia they have White I mean they are pepper plants different types of pepper plants they have any kind of tomato plant you can think of just a wonderful place to buy plants
Raspberry bushes were reasonably priced. Friendly service, locally owned.
Hands down one of my favorite garden centers. Sometimes I got just to look at their plants. Its like going to a conservatory!!! They have the most knowledgeable staff! If you have questions they have answers! I highly recommend it for All your I door and out door plant needs. Be sure to check out their impressive old collection of bonsi trees.
Dont waste your time with this place. They make promises they will never keep. Then when you call to complain the owner wont talk to you, he just tells you tough, and hangs up. The cashiers however, are very polite and kind. I feel sorry for them to have to work for such a tyrant.
I cant say enough wonderful things about my fist visit here! I walked in only knowing I needed ground cover. Deb helped me. She answered all of my questions and then some. She helped me find plants that can handle a lot of sun. She explained how to plant them in descending order and to set the plants where I want them before I dig! She even helped me find plants that would have pink flowers. Fantastic nursery and great staff!
Absolute favorite greenhouse! I drive from Cincinnati just to come here. It’s worth going just for the experience! Owners are extremely nice and the selection is amazing! Place is filled with unique and hard to find plants. Well worth the drive!
I work at another garden center and decided to check this place out. It was not clean at all. Little to no annuals left and dead plants everywhere. Will not be returning
Very few annuals well picked over from the holiday thats good for them and their business. The same is true of the concrete items next to nothing left
Best garden center in Montgomery county, Peter and his son are always so friendly and helpful,
This place is a hot mess. Yikes. Some of the worst items I have seen. Plants starving for help. Really horrible. This place wins my avoid at all costs.
It was wonderful place
If I could give it 6 stars I would. I have been making long drives to come here for years. Best selection and best variety. Prices a fraction of anywhere else. Staff is always around to help with eagerness and knowledge.
Several years ago I bought a tree that was planted In solid clay and it was completely root bound. I babied the tree and it did pull through, but it wasnt cheap, or on sale, and it was bought in the spring. It had obviously been in that pot for more than one season.Last year I had some time to kill and I was near there so I thought Id check them out again. They had nursery stock that had price tags from a big box store on them. Their prices were way too high; they were charging more than the store that they apparently came from. Some stock was obviously mislabeled. I went inside the store because I needed some fertilizer. Nothing was organized, everything looked like it had been on the shelves for years: covered in dirt and dust. I wont ever try them again. Stick to a good store, like Knollwood Garden Center or Berns. If youre looking for common items, or a deal then try Lowes.
North dayton garden center sold me plants that brought bed bugs into my home.
First time visitor...amazing selection and friendly staff...very pleased
Absolutely amazing place! Im done shopping at the big box stores. Theyre totally worth the drive and earned my business. Tons of great advice and very friendly!
02-25-2021So I decided to give this place another try it was short staffed but with all thats going on I understand. I came back to get a new bonsai pot for a little Japanese Juniper that I got for my birthday again. I spoke to a gentleman that was caring for the bonsai that needed a trim he was nice and sowing me a thing or two. Then one of the owners came up he was nice at first tell he asked what brings me in today I told him I needed a new pot and asked it it was to big but I was the right size then told him about my last time her and to give them a second chance. He was getting mean and not friendly. There not a friendly garden at all I was going to put in a nice review but when I was asking questions about bonsai so I know im taking care of it right he just got mean saying bonsai is to hard to take care of for a young person like you. After that I wanted to walk out and get my pot on Repotme but I needed a pot know. The thing he didnt know about I have difficult plants and animals at home that are happy and healthy so I learn how to take care of my juniper somehow / somewhere else.03-04-2019I went to three different garden places and said to come here for help. I called here before hand and the lady was rude saying to just follow the instructions on the card. Then when I went in still rude saying this will die in less then from the flower pot and soil. So paying $100.00 for the help and a new flower pot i had to wait ten days after three days she called saying the professional garden nursery was to scared to re pot it and the roots were so crowded he would have to break the pot its in. lady still rude I got a refund but when I got the flower back the decorations around the flower was not touched. telling me they didnt even try to work on it and just gave it back to me never coming back.
👍
Pete....the owner.....very smart & nine man....They have a lot of knowledge there.....!!!!
Got lost in here for hours
Love this place.
Great selection, friendly staff, and very reasonable prices. If you shop for plants at Lowes, home Depot, or Menards, i encourage you to check this place out first.. you will save big.
I love this garden center. They have everything thing you would want to grow indoors and outdoors. I get GREAT tomatoes from thier plants. And they produce like crazy. They as well have a large selection of vegetables plants and trees, shrubs and plants for indoors. Lots of flowers for gardens too. They are VERY informative about everything thing they sell. LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!!
Way to expensive.
This was a real waste of time vape shop this garden center in the past and its been very niceplans for wilted old or dying and no way could you figure out the price of anything
Awesome place. Super knowledgeable staff. Best bonsai selection Ive ever seen!
Did not have the variety I thought they would have. Ended up going somewhere else.
Best bonsai selection Ive ever seen. Friendly, knowledgeable people (Rick). Cant wait to go back.
Growing All the Best plants . Get of the Plants and start a Garden . Pretty Roses and trees All kinds . Wonderful Garden Center !
This place is a gem. Ive lived here for 17 years and every time I have called or visited, I have received immediate personal attention. These folks know their stuff and will generously give their time to educate you. One of my favorite February pick-me-ups is to visit NDGC and walk through the greenhouse. I dont know whether its the increased oxygen, the colors or the smells, but it smooths the wrinkles in my soul. Thanks for being there, guys. - Brian Cox, Owner, Cool Solutions Heating and Air Conditioning
Huge selection and friendly staff
Found a few plants here. While the prices are cheap the people working here are very rude. Nobody was ever rude to me but the lady working the phones is dreadful. Lots of the workers are complaining of having cancer then I googled north dayton garden center and it said there was a 10 million dollar law suit. Look for yourself. Yikes wont be going anywhere near this place again. Try berns.
Great experience. They are very knowledgeable about landscaping. Recommend them highly
Maybe another day I would have have given more starts but not today. Checked the website before we left home. Open till 7. Drove an hour and got there at 2 till 6. Walked in and the workers were all yelling that they close at 6 and we need to get out. Told them the website said 7 and kept getting told no we are never open until 7. Pulled out my phone and showed them. Then was told that was wrong and they would get ahold of the guy in England to get it fixed. No apology for treating us so rudely and rushing us out. Before you start yelling and kicking people out and telling them to check the website, check it yourself!!
Rick is the man, very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions or make suggestions.
Love this place. Rick and Pete are very kind and knowledgeable about their large selection of plants, shrubs, and trees
Great selection and very knowledgeable staff, for help in selecting the correct species. Best tree selection in the area.
Lime this locally owned garden center
Very nice employees who are willing and happy to help guests. Great selection of plants too!
We were planning a from-scratch flower bed and went to NDGC for inspiration. We were pretty overwhelmed about where to start. Roger advised us to bring him the measurements, he then scratched out the area in the gravel so we could better picture the arrangement. He then worked with us to design a low-maintenance arrangement, and how to plant, prune, fertilize and maintain all the plant. Each time we have been to NDGC, staff is easy to locate, extremely helpful and unbelievably knowledgeable. I wont buy plants anywhere else.
Always a pleasure to go there. People very friendly and helpful.
Good selection of plants, trees, and garden supplies. Friendly knowledgeable help.
Love the place ! So many new things every time I go in
Huge selection and very helpful. Pete is a great guy.
Nice family run nursery. Friendly people has a lot of items that big box stores dont have, larger sections, fair price sofar I like it
This is the best garden center in Dayton. They grow their own plants.
