Well these guys have never been able to fix anything that Ive brought to them. So whats with the 5 stars?!?! Here are a few things they have done:1. Answered my question over the phone when Ive called.2. Taken care of me in the store in a polite and professional manner.3. Communicated the issue in a way that I could understand.4. Theyve always done what they say they would do.5. Followed up in a timely manner.Heres the thing, Im not a computer guru but I do know how to Google and Im brave enough to follow some instructions. By the time I reach out to Onyx, Ive already googled and reached out to the hardware customer service options. When that doesnt resolve the issue, I bring my computers in. Theyve never been able to repair my issues but they have taken care of the warranty claims (where applicable) and Ive always left feeling like I understood what the issue was and could make an educated decision on how to proceed. FYI - both times were failed mother boards and both times I had to get the item repaired by the manufacturer. I hope to never, ever have to deal with these folks again but when I have unresolved computer issues, I wont hesitate to do just that.
I had an issue with iOS 12 and these guys helped me revert back to my old OS with no issue. These guys were fast, professional, attentive, and very knowledgable. Plus, they followed up with me, even after my machine was handed back off to me. These guys care and it shows. Definitely recommend paying these guys a visit if you have any Apple-related issues.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience. I was in-and-out (with a completely fixed phone!) in 20 minutes. The people were super friendly and after diagnosing and fixing my phone talked me through what happened so I can prevent the same problem from occurring again. It was a lovely experience being inside - very COVID-conscious, clean, and just overall pleasant. I will definitely be coming back if I have any problems with my devices in the future!
Went to have my Apple TV fixed but immediately felt like I was in the wrong place (should have just gone to the Apple store). My little problem was no match for these high tech guys. As I waited I could overhear 2 other customers being serviced for much bigger issues and $$$. Although, I would return for other Bigger issues.

They very happily checked out my Macbook Air that wouldnt turn on and charged it for a little bit using their charger. To my surprise, it turned on immediately. Then, when I got home and used my own charger, which I had been trying before, it continued to charge my laptop?? Im not sure what happened, but I thought I would have needed to get a new charger. Luckily, they didnt charge me, even though I felt like I wasted their time on something so simple 😐 Everyone was very nice, and one of the guys got me some help after standing at the stairs for a while. Please be aware that they only let one person on the second floor, so be courteous as to not cut anyone, like I had happen to me 😐Thank you Onyx Consulting for saving me from hating Apple less and almost buying an entirely new laptop because I thought the battery was dead! 😭💚
Computer troubles, whether affecting a beloved gaming rig or a vital work computer, are some of the most unpleasant technology troubles one can have. It is for this reason that I was so appreciative of the friendly assistance and exceptional service offered by Onyx Consulting.Immediately upon arrival, I was greeted by the general manager, who listened attentively as I explained my issues and made recommendations and suggestions based on what I had told him. He gave his frank assessment and made it very clear what the likely timeline and potential costs or issues for the repair might be. He was completely upfront and honest from start to finish.I was very happy to learn that Onyx offers an expedited service fee, in exchange for which one is guaranteed that a technician will begin diagnosing the computer within two hours, although it usually happens even faster: I was fortunate enough to have a technician be able to look at my computer within about 10 minutes. This service only means that diagnostic work will begin as soon as possible, but it was well worth the cost to have an idea of what the problem was as soon as possible.The technician who handled my actual evaluation and repair was exceptional. He kept me informed on every step of the process and ensured that I was aware of the work he was doing. He was fastidious and attentive to every detail, ensuring that he knew exactly what problems I was having so that he could fix them. He also offered suggestions for the future and things to keep in mind moving forward.By bringing my computer in early in the morning and taking advantage of the expedited diagnostic fee, I was actually able to get my computer back that same day. Everyone at Onyx was incredibly helpful when I came in with my 2013 MacBook Air that would not turn on. I ended up purchasing a new computer as I needed it faster than the repairs could be accomplished, but I experienced a ton of computer problems after agreeing to a data transfer from my old MacBook Air, to my brand new MacBook Pro 2019. Most notably, while working the Apple Support on a Bluetooth connectivity issue for this computer, the specialist and I discovered that I had 12 viruses -- I had only used the computer for basic web-browsing and decided that it was unlikely that any viruses would have been downloaded from my typical websites, and therefore were likely left behind from the data transfer process. I eventually had to factory reset my computer anyway.

I was directed by Apple support for battery replacement for my MacBook Pro 09. I called and asked about battery on Tuesday also gave serial number so they can let me know whether they have one that will work. The guy stated that they didn’t have any in stock but will be ordering and to come in that Thursday. Being that I work, I asked to make an appointment. He stated it won’t be necessary. I also asked price. He stated $109 for battery and installation would be $20-$30. I don’t recall exact price for that part. But I was fine with that price. Thursday comes and I leave work to go and upon arrival they only have an Apple branded battery, which clearly was more expensive. I stated the interaction over the phone and explained what was stated to me. They tried to make it seem as if I was lying. I wouldn’t waste 30 min drive in rush hour and raining traffic just to be turned away. This was poor service. The tech walked off. I asked a woman sitting there if he was done and he comes back with another guy and he too said I must have misunderstood. If someone says to come in on Thursday and I asked about an appointment I don’t see where I would make that up. I even showed him my call that I made to the correct store and phone number. I’m beyond disappointed because the battery was needed for work so it was urgent. I called to make sure to avoid this. I left work early as well. Such an inconvenience and to be made out to be a liar was pretty disappointing being that Apple support directed me to them. I asked pricing because that is exactly what I would have. Not every one can come up with extra money “just because”
Before I heard about Onyx Consulting I had to take my MacBook to the Apple Store. It was like an anthill with so many people and long waits for service. I dreaded having to go there. Then I discovered Onyx! What a different experience and they honour my Apple Care contract. The employees are very, very helpful and have quickly fixed my Apple problems without long waits and all the craziness of the Apple store. I LOVE ONYX!!!

Lost email capability, seemingly for no reason, and for two weeks went to two advertised computer and Mac specialist, with no luck and recommendations of just start a new account. I brought in my 6-year-old laptop a few days ago and feared it might be beyond repair. They not only repaired it and completely restored all of my data, its running better than it has in quite some time. I live in Roswell, but Onyx has worked on my machines for years and its 100% worth the drive to Decatur - I will ONLY trust Onyx to work on my Apple products. Great work yet again!!!

Ive had a great experience with Onyx. Have gotten extensive repairs in the past, and they were efficient and great with communication, as well as totally reasonable in pricing. In fact, they installed a larger hard drive at no extra charge. Today they helped me re-seat my RAM, which had gotten jostled out of place resulting in a computer that wouldnt start. The guy at the front -- I wish I had gotten his name -- did that and restarted the computer totally for free. He was awesome! Highly recommended.
I cannot rave enough about this place! I brought in my computer to have the battery replaced/trackpad fixed. They saw some other issues with my computer, issues they knew that Apple could fix, free of charge. So that’s what happened. I basically got my computer refreshed, looking and working like it’s brand new for the cost of a new battery. I know that won’t be the case for everyone, but it’s really rare to have a company look out for its customers nowadays. I work in the film industry and I’ll be making sure that everyone I know takes their Macs to Onyx Consulting!
I paid $100 to Onyx to erase and reformat the hard drive on my laptop PC. I wanted my computer to be like new. Since having it back, it has never shut down properly, which in turn affects how it starts up. The booting process is all messed up.

Last night I dropped my computer and it started beeping 3 times and would not turn on. This morning I went to Onyx at 8: 30 and after a five minute diagnostic test, I was already out the door and on my way to work with the most pleasant thank you and no charge!! I was unaware that there was an Apple store closer to my house. These guys are an authorized Apple technicians with some of the best customer service I have ever received in my life. After being on the phone with Apple technicians for two hours, I was directed to onyx by Apple, and they were able to fix my problem five minutes. My problem was so simple that they performed this service free of charge-thanks Onyx. You guys are clutch life savers. Btw, the establishment is beautiful, located in the city of Decatur.
Ive been going to Onyx Consulting for several years with any computer issues Ive had, and I cant stress enough how wonderful they are. Every time Ive been there, they have been helpful in advising me, have had my computer ready when they said it would be, and sometimes didnt even charge me for a quick consult when I just dropped in. You cant beat their knowledge and personal service. Armin Karacic was extremely helpful the last couple of times I was in there.
I read the reviews and took my laptop there after reading how Fast, Efficient and professional they were with customers. I brought in a laptop that Dell already had identified the issue as a bad fan. I asked how long something like took because I had an employee starting in two weeks that would need it right away, they said that it should not be a problem that it would take about two days...... Then they ghosted, two weeks later they told me they would look at it and get back to me, but ghosted again so I call a week later and they tell me that it was the fan and they need to order and will have it ready in a day. Another week went by. I dont know how it went from 2 days to 4 weeks, that and the lack of communication, but it was very disappointing. I ended up having to buy another laptop for my employee, and as a very small business owner, that hurt a little. My experience had nothing Fast, Efficient or Professional about it, maybe they have different owner or employees than they did when the good reviews were abound.
Wonderful service on my I-phone; Cameron fixed the problem in about ten minutes, and didnt charge me anything. Compared to waiting 2+days to see someone at the Apple Store, this was as easy as pie. Very courteous, helpful. Id go back in a heart beat.

They were very honest with me about my computer not being worth repairing. They could have easily charged me the $59 fee to look at it and then tell me, but they gave me several options and recommended that I look for another computer.
They were friendly; didnt catch the guys name who helped me need, but they are informative and helpful. Not trying to take your money just because they want the best for you, your needs, and your pockets.
I called ahead of time after referral from Apple store and was informed that i could come and get the battery service I needed which should take about 15 minutes. When I arrived, I was informed that they needed to keep the macbook for several days for diagnostics which Apple had already run. It was, in my opinion, a bait and switch tactic. A waste of my time and resources. I definitely would NOT recommend these guys.
I had an older Laptop I was preparing for a charitable giveaway. Yet, I was having trouble bringing it online to download updates. I dropped by Onyx one late Friday afternoon just 20 minutes before store closing. Given the inconvenient timing of my visit, one would expect apathy over action. But Cameron and Ben were quick to investigate my technical troubles while juggling other counter pickup traffic. This determined duo spotted the problem after sharpshooting the Laptop’s Device Manager Panel. They gave me expert direction to resolve the issue. Though I insisted on paying something, they wouldn’t take a nickel for what was about 15 minutes of free troubleshooting and consulting attention. I’ve lived in Decatur for years, but never visited Onyx. I’m a fan for life now. This proactive and super knowledgeable group are the real deal.
My MacBook Air 11 randomly crashed and would not turn back on. I took it to the Genius bar and was told that they could send it back to Apple and I would have a fixed one in 3-5 days but with all of my data lost. I took it to Onyx to try to get my data off of it and because it was only 4 months old, there was no adapter to retrieve my data without the computer working. These guys went above and beyond to get my computer fixed while saving all of my data and did so very quickly! I would recommend them to absolutely anyone, as they do a great job while providing excellent customer service!

Onyx was recommended during my 2nd Genius Bar visit. I dashed off a quick email to Onyx while standing in the Apple Store. Steve B. returned my email BEFORE I even reached my car in the Lenox parking lot. Every step of the way, the Onyx employees (Matt M. and Kevin C.) outlined 1) the costs ($55 diagnostic fee applied to any service work); 2) the potential outcomes; and 3) the timeline . After an exchange of emails, I was called to review and confirm the work to be performed before the technician started. I picked up my refurbished Mac ahead of schedule. Next time I have Mac problems, Im heading to Onyx.

What a wonderful experience! I came in with a MacBookpro that had a swollen battery and a trackpad popping out. I had already visited the Apple store and they quoted me a higher price and said that they would have to ship it out and it would take 5 to 7 days. Onyx took care of it in about 10 minutes and for less! This place was awesome. The service and speed was phenomenal.
Brought my Macbook Pro in because of hard drive cable connection issue. They quoted me around 150 and said they might not be able to get to it until 5 days later. However, they fixed it no more than 24hr later and the total was a little under the quoted price. These guys were very helpful and reassured me my macbook has a good long life ahead of it :)
Quick and didnt hurt the pockets! My MacBook got a virus and I was NOT going to give apple hours of my time to get to the front of the line and surrender my laptop for a week. They might not tell you it could be a 3-day wait just to get your computer looked at. I dropped mine off on Tuesday; on Friday I got a call asking me my username/password. When I dropped it off Tuesday, they asked if I could leave it overnight. Their idea of overnight and mine are different. I just talked to a tech who said he was sorry that I wasnt told about the wait time. If the wait is long, fine, just be upfront about it. This computer is my job and every day that I dont have it is a day I cant work.
I’ve had two experiences here, the first was with a screen replacement on an apple monitor about 5 or 6 years ago. I remember it being a decent visit and repair however, my most recent visit a few weeks ago wasn’t quite as good.I was having issues with my iPhone X (the ghost screen issue thing) and had already talked to Apple chat online and did the typical hard reset etc. to my phone but nothing fixed it so I brought it into Onyx since they’re close by. The employee took my phone back to her computer and then yelled back across the store to me asking for my passcode…. ummm, no, i’m not going to shout out or give my passcode to a stranger and anyone in IT knows they shouldn’t ask for that kind of thing. She brought my phone back over and I typed in my passcode and she proceeded to “work” on my iPhone. After about a minute, she brought it back and said she was pretty sure it was fixed and asked me to check it out. I could immediately tell that it wasn’t fixed and I asked what she had tried to fix it to which she replied, she did a hard reset and that’s all that she could do. I ended up taking it to an actual Apple store and they replaced the screen and all is good.
Steve upgraded my MacBook, which made it operate so much better and he updated my operating system. Now, my computer that is 5 years old, runs like it did when I first bought it! Im an Onyx Consulting fan Thanks, Steve!

For a previous repair on my iMac I brought the computer to Onyx Consulting and had a miscommunication regard the total cost of the repair. Because of the circumstances, after this repair I rated Onyx as two stars. To my surprise they contacted me immediately and inquired as to the nature of my dissatisfaction and, in my opinion, went above and beyond what Ive encountered from other computer repair shops to fix the problem. Based on that level of follow through—which I did not expect—Ive been motivated to upgrade my rating of them, and I would encourage people needing service on their Apple products to consider their services. Kelvin, who contacted me from Onyx, was very cordial despite my initial grumpy attitude and I commend him for maintaining a professional and personal attitude when many other shops would have written me off.For that reason Im going to give them another try, as they seem to stand behind their business in ways that are increasingly rare.

Im always wary of computer repair. I guess thats from past experiences with the Geek Squad in their early days. I went to Onyx because my Macbooks trackpad and keyboard stopped working. They werent able to fix the issue in-house, but they did facilitate the repair though Apple expeditiously. Im very satisfied with the reps at Onyx, they are friendly and helpful. Kelvin got my computer in and out of their shop within a few days.
Extremely positive experience! My Macbook Pro had some water damage (it wouldnt even boot) so I took it to Onyx. The staff were extremely professional, they gave me an update and an assessment within 3 business days, then successfully fixed my Macbook for an extremely reasonable price. One thing I really appreciated was their honesty when I asked their opinion, instead of giving the typical politically correct, corporate business answer, or the smarter-than-you technical computer jargon lecture, they actually spoke to me like a civilized human being, mono e mono. Ive had some really bad experiences in the past, but this one made me walk away with a smile, almost renewing my faith in apple repair. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

I brought in my MacBook Pro when it wasnt turning on all of a sudden. I took it to the Apple Store where they were unable to help and told me that for $500 they could send it to an outside facility when the tech in the back of the store wasnt able to get it to start up by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. I left the Apple Store disappointed and without another option until a friend told me that she always took her Macs to Onyx. Roice assisting me and was able to get my MacBook back on in a few minutes. All my info was able to be saved and I was thankful I decided to go with Onyx. He checked to make sure my charging port was working by testing it out with my charger and his. He asked questions about what happened leading up to it not turning on. He was so thorough with everything and I appreciate his customer service so much today. Onyx has gained a new regular customer and Ill be telling everyone I know to come here as well.
Just a couple of days ago I was so worried because of couldnt get my husbands Iphone to charge!!! I dropped into Onyx Consulting in downtown Decatur!!! In less than 10 minutes we were walking out with a charging phone!!! No appt, no wait, no charge......thats the best thing that happened to us all of last week!!!! I run my business with my laptop. I was completely stuck with an issue with my brand new Panasonic Toughbook. Richard was a real professional. He got to the correct setting in almost no time and showed me how to make the adjustments. Instead of charging me, he suggested I make a donation to the Dekalb Rape Crisis Center, instead. Went above and beyond to help resolve issues with a NEW computer. Helped me when my old one died, then saw me sad back in their office a month later after I tried fixing with MicroSoft cust service (sucks!!) and Applecare (good). Great that they can swing with knowledge and experienced techs between MicroOffice and my Mac computer. The worked for more time on my computer then they charged me for. And tolerated me bugging them for days with random questions about everything that was going on. Hysterical customer syndrome. Cant say enough about how well they took care of me. Thank you Onyx!!!
Cant recommend Onyx Consulting enough! Theyre certified Apple repair specialists, but way more convenient than going all the way to Lenox mall!My wifes MacBook Air fell victim to a toddlers pounding fists and lost a Return key after a savage beating. My technician, Roice, greeted me promptly and took our laptop immediately to the back. I didnt have to make an appointment, check in, or wait 20 minutes like I do at the Apple Store.Roice discovered the plastic bracket beneath the key was broken, and swapped it out with a spare he had laying around. I was shocked when they told me it was on the house. What awesome customer service! I would have paid any amount to get it back up and running, especially so quickly. Onyx will definitely have my business from now on. Check them out, you wont be disappointed!

The guy told me that about 10-15 or so,we would be back working on computer,yes its saturday,and new years eve,but..i dont care,,your word must be good an true i have tried to leave about 3 or more messages,no one called me at 10-15 osso,but i paid the money yesterday,so i have maybe been put aside an forgotten,not good at all.i dont care if you say midnite on sunday..your word should be your bond,an im getting irritated as it wasnt kept at all.

During a two week stay in London, I developed a problem with my Mac aair in which the Airmail program froze up, which is not unusual for that quirky program. I rmade a brief stop at myb home in LA before coming to Decatur, Ga. My friend who resides here recommended I take the laptop to Onyx and in less than five minutes the incredibly courteous and knowledgeable Jeff had solved that, and several other issues I had with the device.I highly recommend Onyx, and Jeff, and regret taht I must return to LA and wil not be able to avail myself to their expertise until such time as I return to Decatur.I am one thousand percent satisfied!
Ken and the Onyx team did an outstanding job for me. I initially called and they were very friendly and up front on the phone about their services. Ken completed the work on my Apple Macbook and did an excellent job. My power connection had been jammed in and no longer connected well with the magnetic power cord. I dropped off my Macbook and within 2 hours Ken had called back to let me know it was fixed. While picking up my Macbook Ken made a system maintenance recommendation (nothing to do with services offered at Onyx but a simple user tip) which I really appreciated. I will definitely be going back to Onyx for any future repairs. Thanks!
I would give more than 5 stars if I could, after being taken under the wing of Steve at the Decatur store. He went far beyond the call of duty to help me resurrect a PowerMac G4 (MDD) with two hard disks that had both been corrupted. Not only that, the CD/DVD Superdrive wasnt working. It wasnt obvious what was wrong at first, it acted like there were motherboard problems (but luckily there werent). As far as I can tell all data files were recovered onto two new drives, and unexpectedly, once I got the machine home I found that the Superdrive (which still wasnt working in the store) is working again. So Im back up and running obsolete software that works far better than the versions theyve upgraded after Mac OS 9 (if they are still available). Thanks !!!!
Professional, knowledgable, with the goal to provide the best solution for the customer.My first experience was for my wifes Asus. They suggested a $30 usb wifi instead of trying to fix the wiring for a couple hundred. Sold.When they mentioned they were Apple certified I brought my 2011 MBP in to see if they could save it. The hard drive was failing and would not go into a full reboot. Most of my data was backed up but the small portion that wasnt happened to be really important files. They didnt promise the moon or treat me like an idiot for maxing out the memory after installing the latest OS (which, yes, was dumb).They nursed the hard drive for about 4 days and migrated 99% of the data. While they had the hood open they boosted me from 4 GB to 8 GB memory and from 320 to 500 GB storage.Cost about $400 which is well worth it considering it runs faster than when I bought it four years ago. What started as an excuse to buy a new Macbook Air or Macbook turned into a very happy customer with zippy performance again all his data back.
