I love visiting here. The restaurant is clean, the people are friendly and have a very professional attitude all the time. The food is good and learning Spanish at my age is rough, but I know enough to know when I ask a question what their answer is. I highly recommend them

REAL TORTILLAS! Hand made every day. Yum! I shop for groceries here all the time because I like to cook Mexican, Guatemalan and Indian food at home, but the restaurant is great, too. I took some church ladies there once and the TV fare was spicier than the food. I was worried they were offended, but we have been back since then... so I guess not.

We were really excited to try this restuarant. We drove an hour away to try it. I have been learning Spanish so, I wanted to practice maybe with the waitress or store clerk. When we walked into the front part, which was the supermercado, there were three guys behind the counter. They just starred at us for a moment, and looked away. Kind of snobby. Didnt smile or say hello. That was pretty rude. We got to the tables in the back. The waitress got our drink order. She was not friendly, at all. She was very short and acted like we were a burden. That was immediately disappointing. I brushed off that initial impression. I thought, maybe she would warm up to us. She was no better when she brought out our food. She rushed off and I could tell she didnt like us much. I had to walk up to ask her for a couple of things. The food was great but even upon leaving, same snobby attitudes from the waitress and store clerks. Good food but the workers ruined it.

Best Authentic Mexican in Decatur.Great Street Tacos.

Great food. Very authentic. Google needs an updated menu picture though...fajita special was almost $5 more expensive than the listed price on here...I was also charged an extra dollar for a tip on my credit card...I made sure to round the total to 20.00, I even wrote 20.00 as the total amount to be charged and was still charged an extra dollar.(21.00) This is why I’m giving you guys two stars. Also, when I ordered the fajitas the waitress acted like they didn’t have them but it was the first menu item..that was just weird to me.

The staff is very cordial and the food is amazingly flavorful. Beside the good prices. Overall it’s my destination restaurant at least twice a month.

I did not eat here but I had placed an order of 400 tamales! We sold these among other other authentic Mexican and cajun dishes at a fund raiser. We sold out of the tamales with 11/2 hours!! That should tell you just how delicious those tamales were. The reputation for great authentic Mexican food from La Monarca is well deserved. It looks like a supermarket up front but there is a small restaurant in the rear. Just ask at the register. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The tacos are amazing and the cheese dip is also. For real Mexican food this is the place. Love the secluded eatery.

This used to be a nice store but it is under new ownership and now I wont be shopping there in the future.

They offer great business hours, good customer service, and exceptionally amazing fresh food. This place is a really cool stop if your in the Decatur area.

Im from Florida where there are bodegas everywhere. La Monarca had everything I needed that I couldnt find elsewhere... They had cactus!!!! The cashier was extremely nice, very friendly, and helpful.

The super market side is very small and not as much to choose from as the photos suggest. I left without trying to even order and food from the Taqueria because there was a toddler behind the counter screaming his/her head off and I just did not want to listen to that. Maybe its because I am older and my nerves are not what they once were, but screaming, as in throwing a fit children, are not what I want for entertainment during dinner.

If I could give this place less than a star I totally would, to bad that isn’t an option. Not only did I spend about $60 dollars on food, but I didn’t even get my order right. I had the worst service of my life I was yelled at and didn’t even had the chance to asked for a refund of how rude they were to me. Never prior to this visit had I had bad service here. Not sure if caught the server on a bad day I was yelled at, talked about while the server was walking back to the kitchen she was not even whispering but was been disrepctful and making comments about our presence. I was also asked to leave because I defended my rights as a customer. My money is valuable just like any other customer’s money, and a store is made by their customers that is how it fuctions. Without customers consuming owners wouldn’t have anu business. Never will I go back I will also make sure my friends and family never step a foot in that place.

Afternoon ma’am, there isn’t any need for I to come back to a store were I was disrepected. You and I both know that who had a bad attitude to begin was you. When we first sat on the table and you asked us to wait outside like we were doing something wrong and the tone you used in front of the rest of your customers was quite embarrasing. What did we do? Got up and waited outside for food that we paid for because in fact wasn’t free. I do agree we should had cancel the whole order after we were asked by you to wait outside like we were dogs. I let all that pass by till it got to the point were your comments got out of hand. Never did I called you stupid. I did however say: You have a stupid attitude, and need to change it . Which ma’am was after the fact that you had already made unecessary comments while walking back to the kitchen and I was there to listen. I tried to still mantain a positive attitude till you disrespected my mother and I. Our order was not even right, yet did you ever apologize no you did not. Yes I would deff be a big person and apologize when I know i’m wrong but in this particular situation I am not at fault. Calling the cops? Hmmm never did I see them arrive I also do believe you know where we reside you could had easily send them my way I would had been more than happy to advise them of the situation with what really happend of course. The way that you told me to leave the store wasn’t correct or polite at all. Trust me I won’t come back. With all this being said there isn’t a point of going back and forth with this situation. What’s done is done. Good luck with your “business” and like you said treat people with respect because that’s the way you would like to be treated. May God bless you💗
