The people alone make this place great but the coffeeeeeeee.....*insert drool* is so good!!!! I got the vanilla latte with whole milk and was blown away the first sip. It wasnt bitter and went down so smooth. If you like your coffee sweet, this is your drink. Ill probably get it without a flavor next time but Im not disappointed with this. 10/10
I love this place. The coffee is delicious, the service is upbeat and friendly, and theres just a warmth about the place. The atmosphere is exactly what Im looking for. The presentation of the coffee is also professional with latte art and big mugs. Their coffee is expensive, but it is expensive because they know what their coffee is worth. It is top quality.
Favorite local spot for the best breakfast and coffee. Thank you West Oak we love you so very much ❣️
One of my favorite coffee shops in Denton! Great ambiance and a good place to study, I enjoy the warmer vibe in comparison to stark white minimalist coffee shops. I recommend their hot drinks, I don’t love their cold brew it’s too acidic.
There are so many reasons why this coffee shop deserves five stars. The staff is hands down the most devoted and caring group of people. They genuinely want to get to know their customers and create the best drinks possible! As an avid coffee drinker, their drip is top notch. I only brew their beans at home and they are consistently phenomenal! The atmosphere is like none other around and although it is pretty busy in the middle of the day you can always find an outdoor seat, or come early in the morning for some quiet studying.Their breakfast is also my favorite in Denton! I go for the breakfast toast and my husband loves the SOS. Definitely try their hummingbird bread if you have a sweet tooth!Overall, I can’t say one negative thing about this incredible company. I love them so much!
Cute little coffee shop with cool staffs and great atmosphere.
Delightful establishment. We were warmly greeted upon entry, as was every other customer who entered during our visit. It’s no wonder the WiFi password is “community.”I’m happy to report that the customer service was only surpassed by the quality coffee we savored. The drip was perfect. My seasonal tonic also superb. (Don’t forget to stir!!)Decor is industrial/rustic and true to theme, comfortable chairs (that literally rock!! like stable rocking chairs!! Careful with your coffee). Perfect for a coffee, a bite to eat, a WFH or reading session. One couch and one armchair. Catch em if you can.
I’ve been coming here for years to buy excellent coffee and beans. Today I had their breakfast slider which was so amazing I finally got around to writing a review. A thick sausage patty, well seasoned egg, and cheese on a pink bun- for only three dollars. It’s a coffee shop, but they do an amazing breakfast too!
Love this place, drop in whenever Im in town
My absolute favorite place! West Oak has had a special place in my heart since it opened and ever since moving back to my hometown a few years back, I just cant seem to step away from here. The coffee is absolutely delicious. Seriously the best vanilla oatmilk latte Ive had! And the staff is always so kind and fun to have small conversations with. I used to love coming here to work on design work, but now that Im always busy, its become the best part of my mornings. Just a quick pop-in right when they open to grab a latte and some breakfast and it makes my day 10 times better. I could go on and on about this spot, but Ill just leave it by saying you truly need to try it for yourself.
Great coffee shop in the heart of Denton, staff is welcoming, friendly and quick to take care of you! They also will take the time to chat which gives a personal touch that makes you want to come back.
I sure do enjoy me some fun fancy coffee. Also, the brownies are second to none.
Great spot on the square for delicious coffee.
Love this place!!!! Coffee is always amazing! Employees are super friendly and helpful. Comfy and cozy spot for sure.
It was great! The atmosphere was great for conversation or studying, and the beverages were good.
I love West Oak! This is the first specialty coffee shop that I visited when my wife and I moved to Texas from Southern California. We did not have many expectations coming from California coffee culture to Texas, but we were blown away and I would say that this shop is on my top five that I have visited in the world!!! (Portland, Seattle, LA, San Diego, Salt Lake City, Costa Rica, Ireland, Texas) Please visit West Oak you will love their staff, atmosphere, and genuine love for the craft of coffee!
Coffee was great, internet was ridiculously fast praise the Lord. I enjoyed my visit and will be back a lot more.People were very nice there workers and customers, seemed like a friendly place.
Really like the environment. Coffee is great and the kambucha is delightful. Staff is always courteous and knowledgeable.
In town for the weekend and West Oak is one of my first stops. Even in the midst of COVID with masks and social distancing the staff convey a friendly and inclusive vibe. They care about getting your drink right (no dairy please!) Check out the awesome seasonal drink specials and get your weekend started with a relaxed vibe at West Oak!! I’ll be back before I head back to Houston. It would be great to have a closer location,... hint hint!
Love this place!!! The employees were all SO kind and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed! And the coffee is delicious. Cant wait to go back!
Where do I start. So kind. The owners are so kind-hearted, sweet, loving and just incredible. The coffee is great. The espresso is on point. And the space is super cozy. Love this place and love these people.
Met the love of my life here❤️ ALSO great coffee.
Friendliest place Ive ever been. From the top, down everyone is kind and considerate. As an employee, the owner always puts me and my family first. Anytime Ive had a disagreement (and there have been many in 6 years!) hes always quick to listen, and slow to speak. Without trying or knowing, hes been a mentor to me because he always leads from a place of graciousness and love. By far the best boss for which Ive had the privilege to work. Over the most recent comments, Ive seen him weep heavily at the mere suggestion that he didnt care for his employees. Its just not true. West Oak bleeds a culture of care and humility. The only time where Ive been at odds with the owners or management are when I failed to exemplify the extreme humility demanded of the employees that work there. Also, the coffee is bomb (but underpriced IMHO).
Coffee on the square - directly across the street from the Denton County Courthouse is a great place to enjoy coffee, conversation and err, coffee. This lively location has all types from folks on Bikes to bicycles and the in between. I had a cappuccino (as per my norm), it was complex in flavor, a great temperature to enjoy immediately and creamy, in other words, as it should be. My wife had a Dark Chocolate Mocha, the chocolate hit me in the face like a shovel in a Saturday cartoon. Too much for me, but, that is what she loves.C’mon in to this great little coffee shop in the heart of the Denton square, five stars for me.Enjoy, y’all!
The first and only time I came here I ordered a drip coffee, and stayed for an hour to study. After an hour, one of the staff (very friendly) asked if I could leave because they had more customers that needed spots and I had already been there for an hour.I understand why, but dont agree with this practice. So I just took my stuff and went to Jupiter House across the street. Ive stayed there for 7 hours in one sitting before, with my stuff splayed out over the entire table. If youre looking to study and stay awhile, it might be in your best interest to cross the street. Otherwise this place was perfectly good.
Nice atmosphere and excellent drinks. The staff is very personable. You have to check it out.
I used to go to West Oak when I will was in college. Now anytime I visit Denton I have to stop by and grab some coffee. Its a cozy place and they have such nice drinks!
It is good coffee. W.O.C, in my familys mind, is synonymous with any visit to Denton. When time allows the breakfast toast rules and no where else does a traditional latte taste as good and that is due to the beans.
Great cafe in Denton. Cortados are classic 4.5 oz with 2oz of espresso. Coffee Brownie was ok. Crust was a bit hard. Can’t really taste the coffee in it. The barista was nice enough to heat it up which made it softer. For their milk substitutes they offer oat milk which few places do. The layout is spacious, with linear tables to meet/ work . The bar is long with plenty of seats. There are also large round tables and comfy couches.
I love being here! The coffee is high quality, and more importantly, the baristas are friendly. It is nice to have somewhere right on the square where I know I can get quality coffee and the people know my name.
Such a delightful coffee spot. Coffee is on point and the food is delish! Doesnt hurt that the staff is always so nice and accommodating. Love this place!
The coffees and teas are great, but the service, atmosphere, and the food are better.
Awesome coffee bar!!! Great coffee, cute decor, chill vibe. Check it out if youre walking around the square... Staff are all super sweet and kind as well!
My husband and I came here recently on a date night and I was instantly in love! The ambiance and vibe of this coffee shop is relaxing and fun! And OMG they make the best Chai Latte ever! The Vanilla Bean Scone is out of this world delicious as well! All of their pastries and sweets are amazing! I am really interested in trying their lavender syrup sometime also! But I just have to mention their Chai Latte one more time because it was straight fire!!! We will definitely be back!
Just Lovely. I would have it twice daily, if I could. Wonderful staff! owner is super cute!Has some dope real-estate! right on the Denton square! Where half the people, are one.But not these guys and gals (non-binary)!Lovely bunch!Lovely lunch!Just a hunch!
Love Love these people, their coffee & the atmosphere of different locations. They are wonderful honest people. Treating ALL FAIRLY with integrity!
Great shop! Friendly staff and high-quality coffee roasted on-site. Highly recommend their single-origin beans. Pourovers (generally from one or two bean options) are well-made with tested ratios and timings. Lots of espresso options, including mochas made from on-tap (!) chocolate milk. Lead baristas have competition experience. Lots of seating with room for laptops, though the shop can get busy during popular study times. Recommended.
West Oak has been my favorite coffee shop (along with their other store Kimzey’s) for about six years now. Every drink I’ve had there has been a 9/10 and often a 10/10, be it decaf or regular, latte or specialty drink. It’s a small wait for a drink only because they are always busy, so it’s totally worth it. The staff has always been superb and immediately upon entering it feels like a place that calms your pulse because the design is a great mood stabilizer. If you’re new to town, have a friend visiting, or just to bring your friend or family with you to visit one of the Square’s best stops, you won’t be disappointed. Also, they update their Instagram regularly so you can enjoy seeing the staff and customer stories, which are very inspiring.
Love this place!!! One of my favorites to come to on the square. Sundays, 9-11 motorcycles on the square, which I love.So to the more important thing, bottomless coffee, yes all you can drink and it is good. The espresso milkshake is freaking delicious, I finish it too fast and definitely want more. The food, omg, so great, I am slowly going down the menu, but so far have not been disappointed. Their food is great. I would rather go her than a Starbucks where they microwave their food oppose to here where they make it in the kitchen and definitely from scratch. The pastries are amazing, again, havent found one that I dont like. And now the staff, wow, they are all so friendly. I dont know everybodys name, but everybody has smiles and are very very friendly. I love this awesome staff!!! I cant say enough, they are awesome!!!Overall I love this place. I get to drink coffee, play my bass with headphones and just relax. I hope to someday be able to show my appreciation for this place and the staff that make it an amazing place. Love yall!I will always recommend going to this place.
Great selection of fair trade coffee thats always rotating. I even buy the coffee on subscription to drink at home. Great staff and ownership.
Nice little spot to get some HW done!
Love this little gem! Great coffee and love their lattes. Ambiance can’t be beat 🤍
Very quaint. Very cute. Very millenial.
Such friendly staff and amazing coffee! Love this place so much.
Sensational coffee shop. Great drinks, tasty food, and a great environment to do homework. I recommend any espresso-based drink here. The baristas are also really nice.
Awesome drinks and their baristas gave some solid dinning recommendations.
Sad that people feel the need to slander a business because they are bitter that they got fired! Been going here for years and they are AMAZING! They have another location in argyle called kimzeys which is also so great. All of these negative reviews are friends of the person who got fired. So sad that people feel the need to act that way!
Nice staff, good avocado toast.
Beautiful coffee shop located on the square in Downtown Denton across from the courthouse. Excellent choices for your caffeine intake with seasonal favorites. They also serve bites that you’ll find at most coffee places. Enjoy your coffee on the patio seating with a great view of the gorgeous courthouse!
Need a larger menu on the wall or at least some of the paper ones somewhere besides the register. Line would be much quicker if people had the whole time they were standing in line to look at the menu. Selection was on point and our cold brews were delicious though.
The people are always friendly and the coffee options are amazing! We also love grabbing a bag of coffee for home anytime we stop in!
Fired employees for valid concerns regarding covid mandates. They dont care about service just money. The coffee isnt that great anyway might have been worth the ambience but they ask you to vacate after an hour cause they are making room for the invisible customers waiting to be seated. You will be better off at the worst starbucks than here.
The coffee here is top notch. I ordered an ice coffee and a hot coffee - both black - and they were very well balanced and not overly extracted or bitter. It’s clear these baristas know how to properly brew coffee! The atmosphere is wonderful, and well suited for working alone or with a group. If you aren’t feeling coffee, they also have beer on tap! I will keep coming back for sure. My only wish is that they would open at 6:30am on the weekdays so I could make this my morning commuter coffee stop.
Very friendly staff. Nice and cozy ambiance for studying, working, or just socializing with friends or family.
West Oak Coffee Bar has incredible coffee and fantastic service. So thankful for their convictions to provide a quality experience.
Love this place! Great vibe and drinks!
Great atmosphere to meet up with friends or study! Love the staff and delicious coffee
Great coffee and a friendly atmosphere. This is my new favorite café!
This place has an amazing atmosphere, incredibly tasty confections, a perfect hot chocolate, all at a very reasonable price. I rarely write out reviews, but this place definitely deserves one.
Owners don’t care about their staff’s safety in regards to COVID. Food and coffee here are subpar. Many better places in Denton for coffee that have empathy for their staff.
Love this place! Great lattes and delicious fancy donuts on the weekends.
Absolutely love it here. Great staff. Great coffee. I bought their Pitsuwan: Doi Saket blend and it’s my favorite coffee blend. I was sad when I heard it was going away. But I’m sure they will have other new fantastic blends.
I actually visit the sister location in Argyle and love the seasonal specials. In the fall, ask for the cider they have concocted.
Went to this place every day, until recently light was shed on the fact that they (owners) prioritize profit over COVID safety precautions. The baristas are absolutely lovely, but I can never go here again.
I have been going to west oak for a while now to do homework and tonight I went with two friends to get some things done but after about 2 hours of being there one of the baristas came up to our table and told us that there was an hour time limit and that we had 10 minutes to give up our table. Looking around I saw people that had been there prior to our arrival that we’re not getting the same conversation as us. In addition I have been at this coffee shop multiple times before and have stayed for 3-4 hours doing school work and have never been told to leave due an “hour Time limit.” Needless to say I won’t be returning here.
I know one of the owners personally. Upstanding people who provide quality. Awesome place.
Great espresso!! If youre in the area and need your craft coffee shop fix, this is your spot.
Changing my rating due to how they treated their longtime, loyal staff during the pandemic. Failing to take employees concerns as legitimate will always spell trouble. I have known most of West Oaks OG staff for several years. Theres a reason they all left during the pandemic, those that werent fired of course. Its also very strange who they chose to fire and why they told them they could reapply later (i.e not a guarantee youll get your position over a new applicant). Its also telling that none of them came back. There is a lot of misinformation going around that West Oak fired its employees for speaking up about safety protocols during the pandemic. This is not true but West Oak did fire the people that consistently criticized them but not directly BECAUSE they criticized them. It was very strategic. However, West Oak did fire an employee whose medical needs inconvenienced them (which is illegal). They also had a party with all of their shops in which no one wore a mask. Sure, you can make self-centered instagram post about how none of your staff has contracted COVID but that doesnt make their actions any more justified. Its very sad that I dont see myself coming here anytime in the near future. The owner is out of touch with reality and the senior employees are brainwashed to defend him at all costs.
Here is what’s going on.... I’m in there every day. I people watch. I read between the lines. I notice things. The same covid protocols have been in place since the pandemic started. Now yes, this is from a customer perspective. I have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. However, what I have seen are baristas who have been employed there for quite sometime (longevity). I’ve also seen positive interactions with all guests, even the ones who come in with attitude or who come in without a mask on (almost every single time, they’ve immediately been offered a mask by a barista at the register). Again, does this mean everything is perfect there? No. But as someone trained to see human behavior and patterns (that’s my background), when you see behaviors like that repeated again and again, it says something. Does everyone have the full story, enough to make a concrete decision and judgement at them and their business practices? Absolutely not and I was mostly inspired to write this review because of that. We don’t know the full story behind any drama that occurs (and that’s true anywhere) so I wanted an opportunity to share my reflections as a customer who literally is there all the time. Also, regarding the one hour time limit - yeah, it sucks. But it was put in place due to them being crazy busy at reduced capacity. I hate it because I go there to get work done too and sometimes want to stay awhile. But I deal with it because that’s an after effect of the world we currently live in. I’ve also seen other people not be asked to leave who have been there longer. A lot of it just has to do with it being busy and them not always realizing when people have come in. Again, I deal with it because I get it. It’s not personal. It’s life. This is just one of the many covid-related adjustments being made everywhere and I firmly believe they’re doing their best to try to give all their customers an opportunity to be able to hang out in there.
REALLY good coffee! West Oak delivers delicious, fresh roasted coffee every time I visit. This is my favorite spot for a cappuccino. Great local spot with several drinks selections, even non-coffee drinkers! They have delicious food and baked goods too. Also, the staff is top notch.
True grits and coffee were the best! Ill definitely be back.
Best coffee in the DFW metro area, got a vanilla latte with oat milk and it was the best I’ve had, so simple and roasted to perfection
This place makes the best coffee, food, and loves the community it serves.
I don’t leave reviews but this is a serious health concern. I ordered the breakfast slider they gave it to me undercooked. It comes with sausage so I asked what kind of meat is used in the sausage thinking if it’s beef no big deal so I asked and the clerk said hog. I then said it came undercooked you can not eat undercooked pork. He then said it came undercooked again. So it seems this is a known issue with the pork products coming out undercooked. Just check your food before eating it if you get something other than coffee from them.
Great little coffee shop on the square in Denton. I had the Breakfast Toast and a drop. Both items were A+ and I had the opportunity to support a local business. Will definitely go back.
One of the best small coffee chains. The coffee is always tasty, fresh and quality. The staff members are very friendly.
The coolest place to get a coffee and they also have really good food!
