Stopped by this Kroger early this morning to grab some rice cakes! KROGER is the only store that carries these low calorie rice cakes. Robert was my cashier and asked me if Id like to make a donation to a good cause. I agreed and he announced my donation over the intercom and the employees lapped and cheered. As I was walking out another announcement was made by someone different expressing their appreciation. This was a small gesture but it really started my day off on a pleasant foot! Thank you for having a clean store and excellent customer service!
This Kroger is small. Its not what I expect from Kroger. I needed furniture polish and they dont carry it. The employees are helpful and kind but they need to move this store to a larger space. The parking is congested and the store was so busy with minimal staff. It was hard to navigate through the store.
Dirty store, limited selection, appalling deli. And worse, they pay their hard-working staff poverty wages. Steer clear of this abominable place.
First… you must know I LOVE me someKroger! But this one is by far the worst! Ghetto. Dirty. Sketchy people around. Store was kinda in disarray. Cashiers seemed miserable. Ya, going to the one on 288 from now on. Take this one out back and shoot it.
I dont appreciate being harassed and intimidated by a security guard the whole time I wait in the curbside parking spots while we wait for them to bring our order that was 1/2 filled and while my wife goes to correct it inside have him stand there staring at me and pointing at the sign three times and calling the store several times to see if Im allowed to be there when he saw us get our order. If the Krogers 6 parking spots reserved for curbside isnt enough convert some of the 200+ other spots into more and stop harassing your customers or get your curbside orders right in the first place.
Plenty of parking and easy to find. Restrooms need some maintenance. Women’s soap dispenser is damaged, stall door needs maintenance as well. Self service check out was quick and easy.
This Kroger is probably the worst Kroger Ive ever been to in my life. Shelves are disheveled, workers are rude and the store itself is just filthy. Two cashiers working during peak hours with lines down the aisles.Ive always liked the Kroger brand but this store has just been so terrible I take the extra time to drive to the Kroger in South Loop or go to WinCo down the street. If other locals want this place cleaned up, stop visiting it and go somewhere else until the changes are made. Denton deserves better, hold this store accountable and demand change.
This Kroger and the other on South Loop are in desperate need of a remodel. Compared to the other locations in Little Elm and McKinney, these two are eons behind. I blame management for not getting with corporate on issues. Or if management did their job and corporate ignores them, then it’s on corporate. Nonetheless, the locations need help or get rid of them. After all there are Walmart, Target, WinCo Foods. If this side of Denton was to get a HEB, these stores wouldn’t survive.
Stop replacing human cashiers with self-check out lines. If I wanted to keep software and automated systems employed I would shop on Amazon.
Everything is old, broken and run down. When will they renovate?
I have been very unpleased with the grocery pick up services and pharmacy services at this Kroger location. Too bad I can’t give them a zero star. I have tried several times to do grocery pickup here and every time, they get my order wrong or send me with rotten produce. EVERY TIME!!The most recent pickup I purchased from them, they failed to give me several items and when I called to resolve the issue they said they would refund the money and never did. What a joke! The pharmacy also has terrible customer service. I would receive text messages saying my prescription was ready and when I went to go pick it up they couldn’t even find me in the system! I drove several times when they asked me to come back but never filled my order. What a waste of time and money. Go spend your money somewhere else. I will never come back to this Kroger again!
I would have given 5 stars if they had the big trays of sushi.
The security guard follows me around the building. Dont support harassment. Shop somewhere else.
Very clean and well stocked lots of sales right now. I did get Sushi it looked amazing and was fresh made right at the stand by the deli and all that stuff it was $11 but look worth it until the bagger bagged buy sushi with my diapers sideways and flopped them all over the container making them a mess they were still delicious though next time I will keep my eye on the back burner as opposed to having friendly conversations with the cashier
This place is literally insane, it smells horrific but I kinda like it.
I love everything about this Kroger. It is my favorite place to go grocery shopping. They have very high quality products here at great prices. I love the staff and I love how quickly I can get through the lines compared to other grocery stores.
Several signs advertising mask necessary to enter and no enforcement. No thanks Kroger, keep your plague rats, Id rather not shop in your dirty, poorly maintained store anyway.
The interior is not well maintained. The overhead labels for what is in each aisle are horribly off. The parking lot is way too small. The only way to form a line at checkout is to backup into the aisle behind you. This may be the closet grocery store to me, but no thanks, I’ll pass.
Was very nice....
Front line workers!!! Need more of them. Bless each of you. Lose the self checkout! Killing your traffic flow. Hire more humans!
Your bakery staff is disrespectful not helpful.Get someone who enjoys people and their jobs. I spend a lot of money in your store. And she was beyond rude. I will never purchase a bakery item again from that store. University~Denton
Love this Kroger, friendly staff and great prices.
I originally gave them 5 stars, however today when I went to the store and purchased a few items I saw something on my receipt! It says Our new privacy policy lets us share your information to help make advertise and offers on websites, mobile apps and digital channels more relevant to you. This Kroger is not something Im ok with. I shopped here because I believed it was a great place that wouldnt sell me out so it could try and squeeze a bit more profit. I recommend anybody with a kroger card ditches it right now and shop elsewhere.
When getting my pickup they loaded a kroger bag into my car I got home and found it was holding someones tacobell trash... Just tacobell trash.
This Kroger is the worst from rotten fruit to poor customer service.
Kroger is disappointing. Not only are their prices inflated, but you are charged a COIN SHORTAGE FEE if you dont have the correct change when paying in cash. Also, Kroger recently made the decision to not return customers change due to a coin shortage, instead offering them the option to donate that money to charity or have it applied to their loyalty cards. Totally unacceptable. Im taking my business elsewhere. VERY BAD FORM Kroger!
Deli people are always so rude, proceeds to do other things instead of helping me and telling me they will be right with me as I wait for 5-10 minutes. This is an every time occurrence.
Dont trust anyone who doesnt fill their filled donuts well or with the advertised filling. HEB would be embarrassed so serve those donuts. Shame shame from the whole donut community.
They are sooooo slow... do not interact or give you the feeling that you are welcome
Disorganized store. And the entire staff is rude and unprofessional. This the worst kroger Ive been too. Dont Come here
Very disappointed today here. I am 68 years old and had to bag my own groceries. I dont mind but the cashier had real attitude. Didnt thank me and was sour through the entire transaction. Because I was bagging the next customer came up to the register NOT keeping distance. I know everyone is frustrated with this pandemic but I dont like coming out either. I appreciate the people who are working and I always thank them. Not this time, this gal needs to go home!!!!!!! On top of everything else the system did NOT deduct several e-coupons I loaded to my card to the tune of over $10!. Seriously consider giving them up and going back to Albertsons and WinCo for my $200 grocery trip every week. GOODBYE KROGER!!!!
Ive always had a soft spot for Krogers over walmarts. Walmarts feels more artificial but krogers feel more welcoming. Gives me that kind of nostalgic feeling. A good place to go if you need groceries, of course, but the real star attraction is the bakery. I love the food there and the cake I got from them was delicious. And dont get me started on the cake pops. With all that said, wish there was a more diverse selection of goods to buy.
The tall dark haired guy that works at the Starbucks is so rude. After my drink came out half empty he proceeded to mansplain that that’s how it’s supposed to be. Sorry, but no. No drink should be half empty. But thanks for being pushy and not letting me just say “okay” and leave. I tried to just walk away with my half empty drink and he said “no give it to me.” And just filled it up with milk. Surprise! It tasted just like a tall glass of warm milk. Safe to say I just threw it away. I can understand that behavior if I was being rude but all I said was “I’m sorry, this is half full” and he went off.
Always busy lots of variety.
Since I brought my own large bags, Rose / Cashier precedes to tell the bagger to walk away from there. I had 94 items for a total of $244. Rose tells me, were not supposed to touch your groceries if I brought my own bag. I told her I wanted plastic bags and Ill take the plastic bag and put them in my own bag.Instead she gives me an attitude & oh we dont work for Kroger. Im like hang on a second doesnt your name tag say Kroger on it, dont you get a paycheck from Kroger. The attitude, bad experience. All fat woman are unhappy and full of hatred. Or was it because I was Black Male.
Customer service at deli is horrible I dread every time I have to use them. You stand there forever without recognition. They will look at you and simply walk away. Or have you wait while they clean a saw they they aren’t even going to use on your order
Poor parking. Unfriendly staff. Frequently out of common needs. I like Kroger, but I will go out of my way to avoid this one in particular. It must be poorly managed.
This is the best store in the area with general good produce. There is a nice selection of all kind of goods. Highly trained staff. They are quick and attentive to customers. Prices are okay. I would definitely recommend to friends.
I usually like Kroger’s products and prices, but their culling of front-end employees kept me out of the store. I just wanted to go in and get two items, as I passes the security guard ( at 10pm), I saw the two lines at the self-check out lines were about 2O people deep each. I told him “I’m bailing” and he agreed it was the smart thing to do. Kroger says it will actually keep people employed by automation but customers have to do the work. Bye Kroger.
I’ve been shopping here on and off for years. Recently I’ve had 3 instances where leaving checkout I’ve had an item or 2 missing when getting home and putting things away. I’ve had to return and get a manager to explain what’s happened and get the item replaced. It’s embarrassing and a hassle when the management blows you off and attitudes are less than acceptable. I’ve chosen to shop elsewhere as a result. I’ve rated it 2 stars because their stock is good but the store is managed poorly. Mistakes are often overlooked with kind staff but sadly there’s a shortage here.
I come here for the fresh and always stocked vegetables and fruits.
Excellent selection of foodstuffs and other products!! Please keep up the good work. Staff is helpful and friendly. Kudos for having enough people on the job! Dont let HEB take over TX. Theyre creepy. Thank you!
Needs renovations to make the store more up to date. But as always I love Kroger an the amazing dealsUPDATE 2/28- the 2 things I buy every week bcuz you cant find them anywhere else & both have clearance stickers on them!?! Seriously they sell out every week- so why would you stop carrying them. Definitely will be looking for a new store. A real shame
I love this Kroger. They have a wonderful selection of higher end groceries. The meat department is outstanding and the chefs are very helpful. Sometimes the seafood is a little less than fresh. They have a great selection of wine and beer. The parking lot gets pretty crowded during busy times so beware.
Traffic at this Kroger is somewhat congested . The store is nice inside, the folks that work here seem to be doing their jobs well. Im not a resident of this area, but visit a couple of times a month on average. We often purchase floral arrangements here . If you are able to stop here before the main-rush times, it can be much more pleasant for you.
This is terrible. They need to tear this Kroger down and put in an H-E-B. Literally waited two hours to have them bring my order out and only have about 1/4 of my order complete. Why did it take you an extra hour and a half if you only brought me ten items?
Warning!!!! This Kroger is not 24 hours!!!! Ive half a mind to ask for gas money for all the times Ive driving up there at 4 or 2 a.m. to get something and find out that they were closed and have to drive up the street to Walmart. Ive stopped going there, waist of my time.
Good selection, ok prices. Good selection of produce and organic products. Theyve changed their hours to 6a-midnight, I dont know if thats a permanent change or just for now.
I love shopping at Kroger. I stopped by this one while visiting my sister-in-law in Denton. Its a nice, big store with a huge selection. Its always been my experience that Kroger prices are better than many of their competitors. Fast, easy checkout (with people to ring me up - didnt have to do that self-check thing to get out fast. I can say it again - I love Kroger!
6:03 AM Parking lot full of carts and litter. Can only do self-checkout until 0700. Girl at self-checkout busy on her cell phone. Carts askew inside store. Store smells funky. If I have to bag my own groceries, will patronize another store that is cheaper and cleaner.
A dirty store chock-full of rude employees and subpar customer service. Plus, homeless vagrants are allowed to hang around outside panhandling the customers.
Id love to tell you what this Kroger is like, but the hours are always wrong. This store is open 6am-midnight, NOT 24hrs. I corrected the store hours the last time I was bamboozled. Google said 24hrs again... thought they had changed... WRONG. THE STORE IS ONLY OPEN FROM 6AM UNTIL MIDNIGHT!!!
Sushi is killer!! This Kroger is super nice. Just make sure you check glass jars for cracks and all expiration dates. Those two things are always overlooked at stores.
I have never been treated so poorly at a place of business. I was attempting to pick up a western union with my husband. When the customer service representative, Rose, saw me standing with my husband, since she refused him the first time, she immediately rolled her eyes at me and began to raise her voice about the stores policy on western union. She proceeded to insult my family speaking inappropriately in front of my baby. She referred to my family as garbage to our faces and told me to shut up when I was recounting events to the HR representative. There is a lot more to this than I can go in to detail about. My husband and I were very polite with her the entire time and she refused multiple times when I asked calmly to speak to a manager. I thanked her after she finally called and she responded with move aside! I understand the store policy but after being treated so badly, I wanted to speak to a manager about how perhaps customer service isnt the right fit for this employee. The HR representative, Ruth, and the manager, Shah were very professional and quick to respond to the situation. I dont think I will ever come back to this store for anything though.
It was the worst service that I have had at this store. I left in tears. Cashier Jackie was not helpful when I questioned a price. I had to ask her if she can call someone to help. After resolving the price issue she had to finish checking me out at her register ( I was at self service check out) because she said that the register I started on wouldnt let her change a price. This was after front end person telling her what to do. By this time about 20-25 mins had passed. What really upset me is that she stopped and went to help 3 other customers while helping me. I stayed quiet at first but by the time she went to the third person and they were having an issue about the price, I said excuse me but you were checking me out. She said to wait.I went and spoke with the front end person again and she came and told the cashier to finish with me. I didnt get an apology until I asked for corporate phone number. She said that she didnt know it. It was then that she said sorry. By this time I was so ready to leave the store. I asked a lady named Rose for the phone number to corporate. She was aware of what had happened. I let her know how upset I was, she apologized and offered to get the store manager. At this point I just wanted to leave and said no and I just wanted to leave. She gave me the number and got my name and phone number and said that the store manager would call me.Jackie seems to need more training in customer service, I felt devalued as a customer by her. Rose was helpful and nice. She was concerned about my experience. You asked for me to rate my visit so thereIt is and my experience at Krogers today.
I was just in there this afternoon. They only had a few checkout lines open and they were backed up, so I went to the self-checkout registers (which I hate). I was having trouble with it and when I asked a young lady to help me she didnt even utter a word, just came over and reset the register. You would have thought I asked her to do something that was not in her job description. How some people that enjoy their job and helping people Kroger!
Very busy Kroger. It has a nick name. Dead Kroger. The parking lot is very dangerous. Its easy to get hit there . The store has been expanded several times. Its has a olive bar fresh tortillas and an awesome deli featuring Boars Head meats.
Great for grocery shopping. They have a huge selection at good prices and the food offerings are nice for a no cook night. They offer Boars Head, Star Bucks, and a huge bakery center.
It had Western Union. The young man behind the deli counter was helpful and courteous. They offer samples for you to try. Store stocked with everything. Great produce.
Dear Kroger,I have lived in Denton, TX since 2004. I have been purchasing groceries at Kroger on University (500 W University Dr, Denton, TX 76201) for many years. Since the introduction of the self-serve check-out lanes; no-one has been a better employee than the young lady who works there now!! She was there today (2018.12.15); around 11:00 am Central Standard Time…when I, again, was a satisfied customer witnessing her impressive ability to manage customers with efficiency, tact, and etiquette. She is a compassionate, polite, and respectful...machine of efficiency; and she is supremely competent. Please give that gal a raise!!???!! She is the best employee Ive seen in that store...ever! And, no! I have no relation to her; Im simply a supremely satisfied customer who recognizes negative feedback comes with whims and moods...positive feedback comes rarely; and she deserves some positive feedback. She does an exceptional job and should be rewarded, if not compensated, for it!Best regards and respectfully yours,~me
I found a rat, A HUGE RAT WHILE IN THE CHIPS ALIE OMG
Nice Kroger. They have good quality products every time I come. It can get pretty busy and understaffed at some times.
The pharmacy at this Kroger‘s is terrible, they never have my prescriptions ready when they say they’re going to be ready. Then the pharmacy manager or pharmacist cops an attitude every time. His answer and his solution to their terrible customer service is for me to transfer my prescriptions elsewhere. Terrible customer service he could care less about any of his clients. I think he needs to understand humility and understand that the customers are paying his salary. The general manager of the store should step in and get this department under control 😡😡😡
This is such a friendly place. My little brother loves it here, especially with the free cookies. They always have great deals too.
Terrible customer service. One worker made a random rude comment as I walked out.
We actually refer to this place as murder Kroger. The parking here is crazy and to try and cross the street to enter the store is puts your life at risk. Its great in a pinch but I highly recommend taking the 10 minute drive to the Kroger off of the loop.
Good neighborhood store with generally good produce and a nice selection of beer and wine. Also offers a small but helpful selection of organic and health foods, including several much appreciated vegan products.
Love selection at this store and it is clean however I am kind of bummed I bought 3 bottles of pumpkin spice liquid creamer all of which smelled and tasted like sour milk. I opened one bottle this morning and smelled the creamer before I ever poured it! It smelled that bad. I then went on to look at the expiration date which was September 2019. Not yet expired but pretty darn close. I called and the lady who answered the phone was sweet and willing to refund my money but I am not sure why they were put on the shelf to begin with. I still gave the store 4 stars because this isnt my normal experience with this store but someone really should check the expirstion dates on the dairy wall.
This store is great. Everyone is always so helpful and friendly. I dont know why there are so many bad reviews. I have been coming here for 6 months without a hitch. God bless
This Kroger is notorious for being crowded. The parking lot is a free for all and the design doesnt allow for easy entrance and exit. Definitely avoid going here from 3 - 7. In the early morning to afternoon its not as bad. Its a much older Kroger and it just simply isnt made for how many people go there.
Nothing like rat poop in your food for the holidays! This will be the SECOND time either I or one of my friends has found rat hair and poop in their food.Shop this store (with a very bad parking lot ) at your own risk. One of the assistant managers (Dennis) said to this it is what it is. Really? Its rat droppings, and thats what it is!
Witnessed first hand that the deli area has an active roach population.. An un named deli worker had told me after i saw it that they do have a roach issue as well as a rodent issue. Careful users beware.
Its convenient, Ive been finding a bunch of expired products lately. Store is always clean, plus theres a Starbucks :)
Working there is terrible. Shah (the GM) disrespects people who do their job and tells down on other as if hes better. None of this happened to me, however this is what I noticed in the two months working there.
Rose at Customer Support is awesome. Shes always friendly under pressure. Give that women a raise. You need more people like her.
Too much to say about the pharmacy. Just stay away from this location.
Being close to my house, Ive often come to shop at the Kroger over the past few years. While shopping here used to be a pleasant experience, I believe Ive witnessed this location go downhill throughout the years. For example, the parking lot is in foul condition and has not been maintained at all (as it appears, at least). There are not enough parking spots for the amount of people that normally shop at this location. There was the rat incident that happened about a year ago, too. The only reason I still go here is because of the pharmacy. I believe if they tended to their infrastructure and cleaned up the place that this location could be restored to its former glory. My experience at the newer Kroger on the loop has been better in comparison; I would go there more if they also had a pharmacy.
Not sure why there is a single good review here. This location is known well locally. There was also a Facebook video of rat feces on the bread in the bread aisle as well as them running around in the back caught on video. If you search around you can find it. The parking lot is a nightmare and takes 10 minutes to navigate, I’ve never seen such an incredibly busy and crowded store, I’ve had to skip aisles because they were too full to even go down. They were completely out of stock in 1/3rd of the items I needed. Employees were also absurdly busy. Avoid this location. Much better grocery options in the area!
In general I have good experiences at Kroger. Had to deduct a star because the layout here is too crowded.
One star because of rude people checking & bagging my items and the horrible parking. I have been going there for years and in the past the employees were professional and friendly. At the very least they should learn to say “hello” and “thank you”. The people who stock are always helpful and friendly. Last time I was checking out, I thought that I might be invisible. The employee checking my things did not acknowledge me, just started checking my things. Another employee walked up and started bagging my items. She asked if a large item had been checked already. I thought she was actually speaking to me. I answered, “yes”. She looked right past me and asked the person checking if the item had already been checked. Then they began complaining about work and some person and on and on. Never acknowledged that I was there. Not once. It was the worst service I have ever had there. You could say that they need to train people better but how do you train people to be polite? They normally have the things I need and good prices. They have a lot of organic products. Starbucks is good. I used to go to the pharmacy there until my insurance changed. It is very busy. They do a good job especially for being as busy as they are. I would say I won’t go back but it’s convenient for me and I’m not a chatty person so I don’t mind pretending I’m invisible when I go there.Edit:Went in a few days ago and the had only ONE human at a register and 6 kiosks for self-checkout at each end. Every line was backed-up. I would rather have rude or disinterested checkers than none at all. I will avoid this place from now on.
Cons:- Narrow isles.- Always crazy busy.- Parking lot is in grid lock during busy hrs.- They run out of stuff I buy every week, and are slow to restock.- Ive seen hookers husteling and fights in the parking lot.- Lots of drunk people at night on weekends and they will have a long line for self checkout, but only 1/2 of the self checkout registers open.- if the lot is full, and you have to park far away, be prepared for the wheels to lock up on the cart before you make it to the car.- I have had several occurrences where there wasnt a single cart available.Pros:- It looks like they are trying to improve some of these things.- Finally after a year of complaining, they stocked a full section of just Kroger plain seltzer water. They would run out of it daily but always had the flavored stuff fully stocked for some reason- The employees are nice.- a security gaurd present in the parking lot sometimes- lots of good sales- at one point this week they had both self service check outs open at the same time.
I found what I was looking for, so I give this location 2 stars. Other than that, this is one of the worst grocery stores in Denton. The cashier didn’t seem to care for what she was doing, so I ended up bagging my own groceries. I also saw other customers bagging their own groceries in the few checkout lanes that were open. Of course, there wasn’t a manager in sight. I don’t blame the cashiers, because this sort of problem is usually a problem with bad management. So, I go back to this store, and I don’t know why. I’m pretty sure that the heaters in this place are either broken or off. It’s mid-December and about 40 degrees in the store. The employees are all wearing coats and I can understand why. I’m not sure what’s going on with this location, but this has got to be the worst grocery store in Denton!!!
Seems theyre not good at honoring all your coupons there. Doesnt matter if its paper or digital. Be very aware!!
Good stocking, but Ive had several rude cashiers. Parking lot is a mess at any prime shopping hour. Still, I go here a lot because of the close location to my home and great inventory.
Just got some coffee from the Starbucks inside the store, unfortunately the Starbucks does not have a review site available. Absolutely the worse cup of coffe I have ever had, and my order is SIMPLE. It was not mixed, or full. Tasted like stale coffee and had grit in it. It was poured out after two sips. I will not return.
Would have been 5 stars if Dr. Pepper had been 50 cents cheaper, but all in all it is a good place to shop.
Grocery pick-up was delightful. Willie is the best one. Customer service at best!!
They have a reasonable selection of items. The produce section is in despair of quality. A produce person was stocking red onion that i wanted and he would place one that was supposed to be fresh and Id hand it back to him showing the mold...
Close to the house, convenient (except for prime time), and fair prices. Great staff and pharmacy.
Kroger is an ok a store. I like the retro feel of it. The prices are good, with extensive card sales. They have mochi ice cream in a bulk freezer bin. The sushi is not bad. They added self checkout on the left side of the store where it was only on the right before.Their store made flour tortillas are very good. The store brand tortilla chips are not too salty and are priced well.Bread selection could be better.A good selection of vegetables, fruits and organics.Ubiquitousness of Krogers helpful, especially in an emergency.
My second favorite grocery store. Nice and clean. Plenty of staff to help. Good produce, but not great. Always clean and organized.
I love this Kroger sooo much. The only thing it could do without is all of the customers who tend to leave their carts all over the parking lot (including that spot directly behind your car.) Either that, or more cart collectors.
