I use to shop at the orange store but with everyone doing price matching I prefer this place with the everything in the store rebate that they offer. 99% of all building supplies that I need are always found here with nice organized by logical methods. Always helpful staff to get anything done for me, be it figuring out how to complete a project or start a new one. I love that I can get hardware, milk and a toy for the kids in the same place. They occasionally will rearrange the store for a few items that frustrates me until I get the new spots mapped out in my head, buy normally can be in and out in less then 10 minutes if in a rush but still am able to spend hours upon hours in the store. The only negative thing that is kinda annoying is that they make their customers bag their own merchandise, while having kids trying to pay and bag everything up to get out of the way for the next person in line. It’s still better then being forced to check out merchandise myself while being watched like a convict in prison by a perfectly competent employee who is actually paid to know how to operate the register.

I needed to get a pice of siding. The young man was speaking to me like he was annoyed to have to print me a tkt. I then went to the yard to get the siding and asked if someone could help me get it and cut it for me. The guy said they were to busy and I needed to get it and cut it myself and I wouldn’t like what they would charge me to cut it. Really they charge people to cut wood? I have never used a saw. Is this safe

This is the worst Menard’s in the metro: Customer service is left wanting.Even though you may go to other stores and be expected to check yourself out, Menard’s hasn’t done this (yet) and that’s the only plus here. You will have to bag yourself, though.The other four stores in the DSM metro area are a far sight above this one in cleanliness, organization, general appearance and service. All-in-all, if you can get in and get out without having to hassle a rep, you’ll be fine; just don’t ask for advice on what product is best or where to find something.

I was attempting to build a custom shower head plus a hand held unit for a friends custom built shower. I went to the south side store for parts. The guys there educated me in several areas when it came to the different parts I would need to continue my quest for the custom shower head. So a big shout out the the men in the plumbing department.

Worst customer service ever! Asked for help and wanting more information on a product and the guy asked us to wait. He never came to help. We had to find someone else to help us. Then we had questions regarding some of the showers and asked a guy to call someone over to help us. No one came so we left. Didnt buy a thing.

Menards is a giant among hardware stores. Lets start at this is not simply a lumber store.They sell appliances, and specialized equipment, rent trucks, and give specialized instructions. Menards also sells sheds, and if one have the time, money, and permits, one could build an entire house, and equip it as well.Menards is a national chain meaning they Access or indirectly could make an individual with drive a contractor. If that is not your thing they am sure could line one up with contractors.For some this is dangerous as it could be like a kid in a candy store. Menards is an amazing place. I was very pleased with the customer service that I received from an employee there today, he was very helpful and knowledgeable about areas that he didnt even work in and did not hesitate to even walk me clear across the store to show me where something was that I could not find on my own!

I have been coming here for years but recently started going to another location more often. However, on my most recent trip I made a special trip to this location to get a load of siding that was not available in the quantity I needed elsewhere. When I got everything paid for and out to the yard the pile was all but empty, not the 100+ pieces that were supposed to be there. I was told by the persons working in that area that the inventory must be off. I was able to talk with the manager Justin and he was able to get it the missing inventory found, or at least motivate the right people to look for it. I was happy he was able to help and I didnt leave upset, having made a special trip an hour each way with a borrowed trailer on a day I took off from work just for the occasion. Thanks to everyone who helped get what I needed at a time that things are hard to get.

I bought 36 lights for the top of 4x4 post on a deck. They didnt look right they didnt fit well theyre made for 4 5 and 6 inch post. They exchanged them out for what I needed I found some lights that are only for 4in posts. They looked a lot better. There was no hassle. I love the Southside Menards actual I love all of the Menards stores.

Went into Menards needing 1 by6 10 ft long and no one we asked knew where they were stored the staff inside said they were outside when we got to the outside lumber the staff said they were out but going back in store we found them so it is my opinion that the staff didnt care of just under trained

Rebates. Rebates. Rebates!!!When you buy products you send in for your rebates. You receive a rebate check 3 to 4 months later. Then you discover your rebate check is In Store Merchandise Credit!!!! This is crazy not only did I spend a great deal of money at the store to get this rebate now I can only spend it at the store...Really...

I love myself some Menards but this one feels cramped and the yards dirty.

Had a little trouble finding a clerk for assistance but once one was there she was very helpful and knowledgeable.

The website said they had some items that I needed for a project, when I got to the store 20 minutes later, there were none. No store associates were available.

Came in to order a door, inconvenienced worker to order ot for me. Come to pick it up, point it out to kid. Then wait over 45 minutes for them to bring it out. Not first time Ive waited long time for an order pickup, but will be last.

You can find most everything that you are looking for, maybe not the preferred brand. For wood cuttings you will have to go to Home Depot..

Wouldve been nice if you posted a warning or something up on Google that kids under 16 cant be allowed in. But still, you let other kids in still.Not all of us live in the city, so we dont know these things until we get here.

The customer service sucked. They have a store full of employees and nobody really seemed interested in helping you find anything!

Inside was nice, but out back in the yard was cluttered and very unorganized. Ive been to multiple menards stores mainly in missouri, St Joseph mostly and they are by far the biggest and most organized yard Ive been to.

Ordered a power washer online. Location on SE14th Street in Des Moines IA had it in stock. Received an email saying it was ready for pickup. Went to pick it up and spent close to an hour waiting for them to find it. No one prepared it for pickup. They finally found it on a pallet on a rack somewhere. Some of the people working in that area are hard working and there are some are not. I blame management for their lack of leadership and making sure people they manage are doing their job correctly. Menards was the first place I normally go but after this experience, its won’t even be my second choice.

Everything seemed orderly and clean. As I was walking down an aisle an employee gave me a friendly greeting. I really appreciated the fact that, as I stood in another isle looking for the drywall mud (my husband sent me to buy) a different employee politely asked if he could help me find anything. So many times you can never find anyone to help you in a home improvement store. So, all in all, I had a very nice experience.

Staff is always helpful, once you know the store, its easy to find stuff.

This is by far my favorite store. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the items they carry. Prices are great. And they never seem to run out of sale items like I notice other places do. Great store!
