I have been coming here since it opened.The selection of goods is varied, and since its mainly Iowa goods, its been an excellent place to put together Iowa themed gift baskets for out of state family and friends.You can find something for everyone here.

Incredibly cute and well curated shop. I love that this sweet shop sources so many items from around Iowa and that the selection is always changing and evolving. I have bought several items and my favorites have been their candles! These handcrafted ceramic vessels filled with house made candles smell incredible. Love that they will also refill them for you for $10. I love the emphasis they put on simplicity, sustainability and livability. So many items to make your home cozy, functional and beautiful. They also have such a great collection of books for all ages. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful place! You can find all sorts of things for your home and your life. From hedgehog brushes to the cutest aprons, cards, books, and more. Plus there a pop-ups of other local companies all of the time, so you can always find a whole variety of cool stuff. When I went they were having family portraits taken outside in a vintage truck. Also, it smells so super good. I highly recommend swinging by, then checking out the rest of Highland Park.

One of my new favorite local spots! Des Moines Mercantile has a little something for everyone. I love how its a one-stop shop for products made in Iowa whether thats consumable goods, home goods, books, clothing, and more. One of my favorite products are the candles - they come in a beautiful pottery vessel (made locally) and can be refilled for $10 once you enjoy it. Definitely a hidden gem in the Highland Park/Oak Park neighborhood!

I am obsessed with this place! Everything she carries is useful and it makes it easy to shop local for things you actually need. The price points are perfect and nothing is out of reach. I’ve only lived in Iowa for a month, but I have been here twice already! Love the shaving oils and razors for men and they made great gifts for my husband and brother. I also purchased delicious jams, a gorgeous broom, a lovely candlestick holder, a little incense cabin, and more. Can’t wait to see what is in store for the holiday season!

Such a cute shop with so many locally made products. One of the owners, Mallory, is super sweet and so helpful! If you are in the Oak Park neighborhood, this is a must stop!

We noticed this little shop on our way driving through Highland Park and it looked interesting so we stopped to check it out. We were glad we did. She has some interesting, cute and nice stuff there. I bought some local honey and Kathy bought a nice wool blanket. Glad to support a local business especially a new business that started during the Covid 19 pandemic. Hope they do well it’s a nice little shop!! Check it out!!

Honestly didnt know what to expect when walking in, but my goodness it is a delightful store. Great Iowa products, awesome owners, cannot recommend it enough. Really proud to have a store like this in the highland park neighborhood.

Des Moines Mercantile is wonderful for gifts and minimalist style home and decor items and handmade goods for bath and body, food and beverage. Such a wonderful addition to the North corridor of the city! You can easily treat yourself or anyone else in your life by walking through this vintage door.

I stopped in for some raspberry jam and the Clear Creek Orchard Red Raspberry was absolutely perfect for my raspberry and almond shortbread cookies; so delicious!! I also purchased a beautiful greeting card, a cute notepad and some strawberry jam. The staff were friendly and very accommodating and the store is gorgeous and filled with wonderful items; to give as gifts or to simply keep for yourself!

My wife Patty and I stopped by today. They have a nice assortment of products, mostly from Iowa. We purchased two products. We will definitely stop again.

Got some great coffee here, small batch, whole bean, and roasted in Winterset, IA. Lots more to offer and worth visiting and revisiting.
