I would never leave a bad review like this, but I’m tired of having my day ruined after shopping here. Almost every single cashier is in a bad mood and extremely rude when you’re just trying to pay and leave. I’ve gotten comments from cashiers scrutinizing my purchases, getting upset with me that I’m not bagging my own groceries, asking if I’ve ever been in before after I didn’t know I was supposed to bag my own groceries, telling me my card is declined when I hit the wrong button on the credit card reader and finishing the transaction for me as if I don’t know how to insert my own card, uncalled for comments and jokes. The list goes on. As much as I want to support this local grocery store, I’d rather go elsewhere solely based on the customer service.

I probably spent thousands and thousands of dollars over the years in purchases here and today they tried to charge for an extra paper soup container because the top it got twisted so to be on a safe side, as I travel, I doubled the container. It’s the same as they do when they double the bags to hold better the groceries. I was not happy for their stupid policy so I decided not to purchase the soup. So now you don’t make the money for the soup and you are wasting a container also. Great policy you smart management! Moreover I’ll avoid purchasing food at your place in the future!Flies are all aver their open space pastries! Disgusting.Not to mention how many times over the years they charged me more for stuff because they had mixed prices!

Has many wonderful foods there hot bar is one of the best and also has many European foods

The perfect place to buy Polish products. In fact, you can get everything in the same supermarket in Poland. Many regional dishes and products and Polish foods. To sum up, it is a Polish shop, but also here you can find products from other European countries and of course from the USA.

THEY HAVE A HOT FOOD BAR WITH A LARGE SELECTION OF FOODS. THAT ARE UNDER COOK ED AND VERY EXPENSIVE !

Seems like the cashiers here need training in customer service… rude as all hell, if they even speak to you beside your total due.Other than that, the produce is pretty nice, and there’s an OK selection of meat. Not a very good example after a relocation. I’d rather travel 6 hours back home.

Go to Fresh Farms, they’re way better with their customers there than this dump. Shop and Save is overpriced as hell and they force you to wear a mask or else they’ll kick you out. You’ve lost my business. Whoever’s the management there should be fired. It’s a place where sheeps follow the wolves’s orders.

With a family your always looking for a bargain. With the rise of the fruit market youre able to find products from the old country as well as new favorites. Being able to find that gem of an item is always great. Shop and save will have it.Polish, German, Greek, Italian, Russian youll find it here. And at a phenomenal price.I have been to all of them, few compare.The staff is totally friendly, with an exception at the costumer service counter but hey, what can you do not everyone can pull off taking care of people. Every single person other than that individual has been a delight and eager to please.Thier already prepared food is hot, fresh and delicious. Dont get me started on the cakes, to die for. Bread is the freshest Ive had outside of Europe. The rye is a personal favorite.We now drive completely out of our way to get here but its worth the trip!

Usually very good produce, although sometimes their sell overly ripe avocados and rotten fruit. Good selection of regular and international brands, as well as liquor and dessert items. Good quality meat, chicken, lamb, and fish. Prices are usually pretty good. Store seems to be well run, but sometimes they need to open up additional checkout lanes sooner when things get backed up.

Very nice store . Great selection . The down side is the bakery. I bought this week 2 cakes and both were stale and very dry even so they had lots of cream. Worst one I ever bought. Was a double whammy. Otherwise the rest was good.

A great store for an international or an American. The products are mostly Polish or European, but you can find pretty much everything you need. Not too large to be overwhelming. I have been shopping there for years. Overall, a great place.

Great store fresh fruit and vegetables reasonably priced with great variety

We were kicked out today for not wearing a mask even though we are fully vaccinated. The cdc guidelines say that vaccinated people do not need to wear a mask outside or inside anymore. Maybe you should keep up with the guidelines. Laura the manager had no clue about the new guidelines. We will never shop there again. We stopped at Mariano’s and had no issue, nor anyone questioned us about being vaccinated.

This store charges you for a face mask in case you forgot one! It’s the most ridiculous way of providing safety for customers. I have never had to pay for a mask in any store!!And It’s not about the $1 charge. It’s about lack of respect for long time customers and greediness. I definitely won’t put my foot in this store again.

Went to return a deli item. They had put the wrong label on and it was $6 more per lb. Was told we dont take returns. Sorry, not my fault. Terrible attitude and customer service.

Very good store everything fresh note experience

Love the store. My family like to get some Russian/polish products and they have them all. Not only that, for a smaller grocery store they have a lot of selection for international food. Their veggies are usually cheaper than lot of the stores around the area too. As long as I live around the area, I’ll continue to shop here

I dont know why I keep giving this place a shot after purchasing things that are just bad...multiple times. Today was the last time I spent money there. My wife came home with feta cheese that was bad. We dont live too far away so I went back to get it exchanged. I asked for the manager. The container was exchanged but I found it strange that the manager didnt know what its [feta cheese] supposed to look like to determine if its bad or not. Really? You manage a grovery store and dont know what feta cheese is supposed to look like? Came home to find out that the yogurt my wife had purchased with the feta cheese is also bad. Unfortunately I left the receipt at the store when I exchanged the feta... thats probably for the better. Im just done!

This store has more reasonable prices than Fresh Farms, good produce and great selection of European products. The deli counter setvice is the one area that need to be improved. It takes too long to get serviced, especially on the weekdays.

This place isnt the nicest of grocery stores, but they always have a great selection for ethnic foods and terrifically low prices. The quality of their produce is always great, and they manage to keep stock of a lot of stuff that other grocery stores in the area dont have. Their meat prices, although low, their quality seems to match the price. If youre looking for a good steak, it probably wouldnt be where I would recommend grabbing BBQ grade ribeye from. Nevertheless, its a good place to stock up at.

Pickles, herring, exotic chocolates and everyday goods at great prices. Its like visiting Eastern Europe and Main Street at once.

I purchased chicken drum sticks(the ones with red paprika on top) and breaded chicken just cooked early this morning and when I tried the drum sticks it at home the taste was terrible bad! so I opened it and smell the inside of the meat! The meat was obviously expired. I took it back and they gave me the money back with no arguments but the manager did not admit that is something wrong with the chicken. It doesnt mean that is the same all the time but this is the last time for me to buy from there! One time in the past I found a piece of glass in one of the soup containers they sell... I am not saying to anyone to never buy from there. I hope that by writing this they will not cook expired food anymore and for all the clients to be careful before they eat what they cook! I wonder now how they keep the meats huh!

I love this store!!! They have a variety of all different kinds of foods of all ethnicities to make your families favorite traditional recipes. Also, great selection of fresh produce, meats, seafoods. An olive bar within their wonderful deli. Service with a smile and awesome costumer service. Great prices!!!

The service desk staff are rude and my wife had an incident where the service desk person tried to scam her by not giving her the proper lottery she asked for and change back. I dont feel the management of this location knows how to provide good customer service and potentially has people on the staff that are stealing or scamming customers. Here is a thought...without customers you dont have a business and all the other decent employees are unemployed! How about running the market like it should be run. My recommendation is go somewhere else.

Terrible cashier, little comi

I got the feeling that they intentionally place some wrong prices on the products. You feel like you got a good deal but when you get home you see that they charged a different much higher price. It happened to me twice and the few times I caught it in the store, they didnt want to match their wrong price label but even fought hard to have you pay the other higher price. That is why I think sometimes they do it intentionally. The store is in a good location, but the lack of trust is not welcomed. It looks like its fading away. Btw, their bean sprouts are not fresh at all and make sure you check the prices you are beeing charged.

Large store, large parking lot, plenty of carts and nice sized fruit department.Quality meat department and nice employees, cashiers are nice to talk with and respectful!

My favorite place for grocery shopping . Fresh produce and variety of products from different regions of world, best way to experience different kind of chocolates other countries have from without leaving Des Plaines . Variety of dairy products local and other . Their cakes are the best as well as soups and bakery items . Plenty of parking space, one of the few shop I saw who gave plastic gloves at door during this pandemic .

Nice store. We come here for most of our groceries. The prices are good and there is ample variety. If you are looking for ethnic foods, they have it: Bulgarian, Polish,etc... there is a large parking in the front and the location is very convenient, right downtown in Des Plaines.

International european street

Their pre-made food near the deli used to be so good, the meat and pasta. They actually cooked it. Now Ive noticed its ALL old and moldy. They reapply new stickers past the expiration date, but my food still tastes very off, pastey, and moldy. As this was the one reason I was coming in, I will now start delivering my groceries full time. I am currently suffering from mild diarrhea eating only their food.

Low cost and wide variety of produce. This has been my regular grocery store for over a decade. The deli is the best in town. My family stops at their deli when they are the area because they dont have one near as good by them.

Visited this store for some groceries, this shop cashier or store worker is walking around with her face mask below her chin, not covering her mouth and face, no regard for social distance. The cash registers are too close to each other And the store is overly overcrowded in these pandemic times!

Great specialty grocer with lots of ethnic ingredients you cant find easily elsewhere. Nice take out dinners and salads. Deli with sausages of all sorts. Only complaint is in fish dept. Quality varies and staff wont cut or filet a whole fish.

Some stuff was a little pricey but they had a huge produce section and I loved the freshness of the meats. Also their selection of different specialty cheeses was the largest Ive seen. Overall it was good.

This is a perfect addition to downtown Des Plaines. We live across the street and love being able to walk down and get all of our groceries. Plus they have an AMAZING international selection.
