Easily one of the best comic shops Ive ever been to! Great staff, great selection of items, that just about anyone can find something in this gem! If anyone is rolling through Detroit at all and you love nerdy and geeky things, you owe it to yourself to swing by Vault of Midnight!

Im really obsessed with this place I wont lie. I found out about them through Facebook when they were about to have their grand re-opening.Theres a wide variety of comics ( regular comics, graphic novels, mangas, zines etc.) which I really enjoy. Its awesome to come to a comic book shop and see people who are genuinely nice and have an understanding of what youre looking for.Theres also a wide variety of figures, plushies and cute little japanese imports which is really neat! I hope they open up more locations eventually

Cool place to go if youre in the city, its right by the z parking lot that is downtown. its very clean and setup swell, also has all of the latest stories. But seemed a bit lifeless inside, maybe it was the lighting or something, it just felt a bit drab maybe even spooky, just a bit too quiet for a comic book shop and lacked energy. Employees were nice enough tho

Stopped by this shop with my kids. We hit the $1 comics. Friendly staff which wasn’t upset that I had my kids in there. The store also has a great selection of games. Store is smaller and selection is smaller. I would agree with another reviewer that the catered more to the pop culture crowd that would drop in given their location. I wouldn’t hold that against them though.

Went in. Was welcomed right away! Asked the guy at the door his recommendation. He was very passionate about anime. I purchased a manga (spelling) anime comic book for my daughter. She was beyond pleased. Will be bringing her next time. Wonderful selection. Prices were good. All around great experience!

As always, the staff was helpful, and the vibe was great. Covid specifically I saw some staff wearing gloves to put stuff on the shelves, so if youre curious about CV19 safety, theyve got it happening there.

Amazing place with something for everyone

The store is super modern, and super clean, and SUPER stocked. From tabletop games, tonTCGs, and comic books. It has it all.

This is probably the first comic book store I have ever been in. And while I do not own nor have read a comic book in at least 25 years, I am a huge fan of Marvel and DC films. Well I can tell you, this place brought a smile to my face with just 15-20 minutes of browsing. I get it now.

I am a casual reader of graphic novels with a teen son who is definitely into different types of graphic novels. While visiting from out-of-town, we stumbled on this place after eating next door.The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly with helpful recommendations for both of us.They also had lots of gift options, including some starter material for beginning readers (with plenty of adult options as well). Our only regret is that we didnt leave enough room in our luggage! Our next visit to Detroit we already plan to go back :)

Came upon this shop while exploring and they were holding an event with music, a food truck, sales for free comic book day. The costumed staff were welcoming and fun.

Went in to buy some Pokemon cards for my son because I am on a business trip in Detroit and where I am from they are extremely hard to find and the lady behind the counter was very nice and helped me out. Place was very clean. Check it out.

Dont make it out to the Detroit store as much as Id like, but while a little bit more compact and a little less space to have as much on display as the Ann Arbor store, the friendly, chatty staff and the focused but diverse collection more than makes up for the smaller space!

July 25, 2020. Mask mandate “enforced”.Minimal participation from two employees. Actually, it seemed as though my presence was interrupting their screen time. “Hi”, “All set?”, “Would you like a receipt?”Apparently social distancing permits employees to be socially inept. Might as well have had self checkout.Bums me out. Prior experiences with customer service and product selection at the store is what brought me back. Will definitely think twice next time.

Went into this shop last weekend and was greeted by a wonderful staff as soon as I walked in! Clean and organized and displayed extremely well! Definitely coming back... neck, headed there now.... just talked myself into it.

Vault of midnight is great theres stuff there for the whole family. Good place for tabletop gaming and comic stuff for kids, tons of trade paperbacks. The staff is friendly and always has great recommendations.

Selection is fairly decent. They’ve got some cool boxed sets. Prices are pretty much whatever is on the cover. Not a comic book store with old comics but you can find all the new stuff. An average comic bookstore.

If you like comic books and graphic novels etc a great place. Good store layout. We stopped in and browsed to get warm and ask directions. Great people and even though not into that have referred friends who are.

Not really a large selection. Most of their comics are newer, which is nice if youre trying to buy newer series of comics. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I cant give it 5 stars based on the cost of some of their items and the lack of older comics. Its a nice looking store, which is awesome. In my opinion, this place caters to a more pop culture crowd than actual comic book readers and collectors. Its not a bad thing, just not where you want to go if youre looking for older, more obscure comics like you would find in your local mom and pop shop.

Great place with an excellent selection from several publishers. The staff is both friendly and professional and knowledgeable about the content the store carries. They are more than willing to order any current and upcoming issues and the subscription plans rock!They go all out for the free comic book day and free rpg day every year, making it worthwhile to stop in!

A better than average comic book shop (7/10) in my opinion i would say more of a place for collectors who are into modern issues than for say back issues but lots of great graphic novels and pretty much any new release their is, and a very clean and well kept store that has a friendly staff. my only complaints are there not willing to negotiate on the price of back issues and they don`t have enough back issues but other than i would give the store a solid (7/10).

Awesome store layout with a great selection. The staff is super knowledgeable and helps you find great series that you might not have known about. They also put on regular events and have a monthly book club. They also have a great selection of unique t-shirts

A wonderful comic shop with a great selection of graphic novels, manga, and monthlies.The staff were quite knowledgeable and very helpful in answering questions, with none of the geekier than thou attitude one sometimes finds in comic shops.They also sell board games, polyhedral dice, a few miniatures for table top RPGs, and some geek themed enamel pins.

Super fun! If youre into comics, games, collectibles, or anything else like that this is definitely the place to check out. Decent size store with tons of products, you could easily spend quite a while jisy looking around here.

I came into the store and was instantly welcomed by everyone. I havent been into comics for a long time, and they helped me come up with some awesome ideas! And I am very happy with my experience and have gone and will go all the time!

Brought my kids back here after my husband and I found it and loved it during a trip to Detroit two years ago. My kids loved it just as much, and we are all enjoying the purchases we made based on staff recommendations. Their inventory is unique and their staff is the best!

Shelves and shelves of graphic novels, from the obscure to the well known and walls filled with comics: its a comic book fans dream! They carry a small manga section and a spot for graphic tees as well but they mostly cater to Marvel, DC and Image releases. Great place to find that book youve been searching for and if they dont have it in the store theyll call around for you to see which of their other locations might have it. The only small catch is they dont carry a ton of back issues, its mostly graphic novels and new releases.

Always an excellent experience coming here. Great selection and knowledgeable staff. They are really fun to talk to and take pride in their offerings. This was the first time coming to this libation as we usually hit the one in Grand Rapids but I was not disappointed. I never realize how much I need until I find myself at the register. Im really happy that theres a store in Detroit now! I know Vault of Midnight is a hit in Ann Arbor with its niche market but I think Detroit is a great place to put a comic book store. It could really foster a great environment especially with its proximity to downtown Detroit.The store itself is really nice and has a friendly staff. I thought the store was a little small and was lacking in selection compared to its Ann Arbor counterpart however thats to be expected for a newer location in the city. Im excited though at how it could grow.

The local Mecca for comic books and board games in downtown Detroit. Their board game selection occasionally leaves something to be desired, but theyll gladly have any game shipped there if you ask them. Service is top notch, both knowledgeable and friendly. The storefront is really well-kept.

Im a huge fan of Vault. The staff is always incredibly helpful and friendly. Most importantly, theyre knowledgeable. If a specific comic book series or manga isnt in the store you can request it and more often than not they usually get it.
