Today was 1st experience with this shop and I can honestly say that it wont be my last. There is a real professional yet family feel to it. I really appreciate the staff knowledge and willingness to answer a TON of questions. Im excited to buy more Kappa Alpha Psi gear from here.

I just wish they had more OES stuff. But they are nice and friendly. I like this store.

Quality products, a good selection, and a friendly sales personnel

I love it! Im still new, became a graduate AKA last year, and I get so excited about buying paraphernalia. From what I understand there are many more brick-and-mortar Greek stores down South then here in Michigan, and I dont mind ordering from reputable online vendors, but still Im super thrilled to have a physical store like Beyond The Burning Sands so close to where I live that I can wander around in. I also like the fact that I can find unique things that I may not see elsewhere. The lovely lady who runs it makes many of the things she sells as well, giving the items an extra special touch. In addition to their merchandise, the customer service is wonderful! Very warm, and helpful. This is only my second time visiting, but I will definitely be shopping there often.

I wouldn’t send my worst enemy into this establishment if they expected honesty, timely service and reputable experiences. To be lied to for almost two months after I had paid a deposit and promised a finished product in three weeks was unbelievable. I would call and ask for a proof and be so kind, patient and understanding, for the lady to keep lying to me, saying the proofs were completed and had been sent on multiple occasions. Timelines and dates change, but to keep being denied an update was inexcusable especially when she had our deposit in full. Additionally, she and her other employee would hang up on us when we would call for the proof we never received - she never said the proof wasn’t finished at anytime. She had my niece wait for almost two hours in the store while she tried to partially start and finish two proofs for customized products that she supposedly sent. She showed us partially finished artwork and refused to just say the proofs weren’t finished or unable to be finished on her timeline, and just let us know it would be later than she anticipated. She then began to yell that my organization was harassing her to her customers. She said she would process our refund when she felt like it and we would get it whenever she got around to it. My advice? Steer clear of this unprofessional and avoid a lot of frustration, fallacies, fairytale, lies and disappointments.

Website says open till 6p, doors locked at 5p.. It seems like I can never catch this place open. Also, told me that an item was arriving, and it still hasnt came in...but its the only place in town, so we have to put up with anything they throw at us.

Is it possible to rate this place ZERO stars? Customer service was horrible, and communication skills were nonexistent. My line sister and I came to this place to get jackets customized, and it was a total disaster. The woman working there told us that we would have proofs for the custom art work in 3 weeks, and jackets done in 4 weeks. At the 3 week mark, we called. First there was a man asking us why we would even need proofs? Are you kidding me? What kind of place doing customized artwork deters you from getting a proof? The only time we could get answers was if we called on Saturday to speak to the woman who originally took our order. I believe her name was Ms. Davis. Every week she would say that she sent us proofs. We would search our inbox, trash and junk folders and we couldnt find anything. We would verify the email and she would say she had it correct. Then one week, she finally said that she would take a picture of it and send it to my line sisters cell phone. Still there weren’t any proofs sent. After 2 months of this, my line sister sent her niece there for us because we were unable to make it to the store on a Saturday. The woman was initially rude saying “Yall call me everyday, what do yall expect?!” How can we call her everyday when she’s only there on Saturdays? Our niece had to wait 90 minutes to even be serviced, and for at least 45 minutes of that time-NO ONE WAS IN THE STORE. How do I know? because we were on FaceTime. When we finally talked to the woman working at Beyond the Burning Sands, on Facetime, she consistently answered phone calls & helped customers while talking to us. This was something she did not do to other customers. Then she showed us some proofs that were not even close to being finished. Nothing was the correct color, and tons of things were missing. Shortly after the FaceTime call, I called back and said “This whole process is just not going well and taking too long. We would like to stop the process and get a refund.” I was in the middle of asking how long would a refund take, and she said “Okay” and hung up.Since it’s a pandemic, and we don’t have anywhere to go, we have been understanding and still to this day have not cussed this woman out...even though she deserved it. Each week, my line sister was super understanding saying “If there’s a new timeline, please let us know”. And still the response would always be “I sent you proofs I dont know why you dont have it.” I believe she threw some half done proofs together while she had our niece waiting. Like I mentioned earlier, there was at least 45 out of that 90 minute wait where there weren’t any customers in there. The only thing she did on time was refund our deposit.

I wish I could give them zero stars. Called and stopped by the store for a whole week and it was never open. When I was finally able to get someone they told me they would try to get my jacket done within the 9 days I needed it. Instead of letting me know they wouldn’t be able to get it done they kept my jacket and now it’s too late for me to get it done anywhere else. Unprofessionally owned black business. Smh

I was so happy to find out that there is a store in the Metro Detroit area that sells Greek paraphernalia. I had been buying things online but I prefer to go to the store and look and touch before buying. The owners were professional and friendly. I would go back again and again.

Horrible service! They promised me and my line brothers a date that our line jackets would be ready, when we went up they were not finished and said they’ll give us a call when they are ready. A week has gone by and they are still not ready. They are very unprofessional and don’t value their customers. 0/10 service.

Found a nice hooded sweatshirt...For more a variety of product, may have to go in store well in advance of event date to order product of choice.

Nice selection but they can special order alot of stuff or make stuff custom if you bring in the thing to be customized. Nice staff.
