Better than eves market in my opinion. Still lacks a lot that a full supermarket would have, but it covers plenty for people like me that rent full apartments when in town and want to cook some meals at home.

The staff was incredibly helpful, I was ordering kegs for a BBQ for the day after my wedding. They asked if they needed to chill it, called and left me a message to confirm when it was delivered and even took back an extra one we didnt use with no questions asked. I would 100% recommend this to anyone who is stopping by Detroit or who lives in the area.Side note, this is the closest Ive ever seen to a NYC bodega. They had breakfast sandwiches, tons of meat, vegan options for the wifey as well and a really cool feel and such friendly staff. Thanks for helping our big weekend go smooth as possible. This market is not only filled with everything you need on the go but it staffed by a fantastic group of people. I always feel so welcomed and safe every time I go. I will truly miss them as Im moving back to the East Coast. I encourage you to make it your go-to market in downtown Detroit.

I have to give a huge thumbs up to City Market. I was in town staying for business and had a very bad restaurant experience and went looking for something small and simple. I found City Market and they literally had everything - including healthy snacks for the hotel. The clerk was polite and thoughtful, they had security on premise which felt good, and the friendly service literally turned my weekend around. Check this place out - I recommended it to my team and would recommend it to anyone finding themselves in this area. A++

What a wonderful full market. They have some of anything you may want. Wine, liquor, ready made meals, fresh meat, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, etc. The prices, especially were reasonable.The store is very well stocked and clean. The staff were the friendlyist Ive ever met. Im from out of town, but, it was impressive how staff greeted to customers by name. Just 2 blocks from the Marriott Renaisance and Courtyard. Nice to see there isno Food Desert in downtown Detriot!

I dont know how many times I passed by this but I finally decided to see what its like, now that I live closer downtown. What a surprise! Ok yes its like. Amaze, but its so much fun to see what else is there? And whats around the corner? It actually has many products I have not been able to find in bigger stores and for that I am grateful. They also have some really useful and good cooking supplies as well! You will never leave there empty handed, trust me. Definitely understand why its a staple of Downtown Detroit!

OMG! The have a whole real grocery store in there! Fresh fruits and vegetables, sushi, wine, you name it! I was thoroughly impressed!

After mask mandate has been lifted, they require a mask and give you one in store if you don’t have one BUT they don’t tell you it’s not free until you get to the counter and charge you $2 plus tax for a single use mask, just quickly sneak it onto the bill. I had to ask why my bill was higher than expected.Every other store has free masks for customers If they require them. It’s price gouging and taking advantage of the pandemic situation.Aside from that place is very small and hard to navigate, like a maze.

Densely-packed excellence! The best of the world in a supremely convenient downtown location. I cant begin to describe what you can find here. But a three-minute visit yielded me caraway rye, balsamic, sushi, and (pictured) extraordinary hot chicken parmesan with fettuccini Alfredo and colossal Spanish olives. Phenomenally excellent service. Covid-safe shopping!

My favorite late night snack spot!

The only grocery store worth mention in the downtown area of Detroit, Whole Foods in Midtown and Honey Bee Market in Corktown are both a bit of a hike. Everything here is marked up as one would expect given the convenience and prime location, but with the premium price comes good to excellent quality. I think the best deals come with perusing the cooler at the deli counter and looking for the orange-tagged reduced-price ready-made meals.

They just seem to have what I need when the time is right. Theres so much strategically packed in this store, an individual could shop for groceries daily and get pretty much everything they need. Ill continue to return and the operating hours are convenient.

Small space with a lot to offer. Covers all the bases a normal grocery store would. Owner and staff are always kind. Clean, well organized, great selection of produce/refrigerated/freezer/packaged items/beer and wine. Highly recommend if youre shopping downtown.

The City Market is the best kept secret in downtown Detroit the staff is friendly and if they havent got what youre looking for they will order it and there deli selections are 2nd to none it really is a fantastic market

Safeway is 100% better in prices and sales compared to other grocery stores in town.

This market is amazing! They are stocked with items nobody else has. I went there today and bought eggs, cheese, bread, paper towels and yes, they even had toilet paper (please buy responsibly). This is a hidden gem in downtown Detroit. I highly recommend City Market for your shopping needs. This place will surprise you! Has very good prepared food that caters to whatever your dietary need may be...vegan, gluten free, vegetarian you name it! Nice portions . wide variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Fresh produce. They also have desserts. Staff is very welcoming and accommodating. Consider the location and convenience when thinking about cost.. Almost anything youll need for a night in or a night/day out!

This is an entire supermarket (miniaturized) in downtown Detroit! All the food they carry is quality. I wish I had one of these in Massachusetts, love it!

These guys are amazing. Always a pleasure to deal with. Awesome selection paired with the best service in town. They are very attentive to their guests needs. I remember talking about a new Starbucks double shot flavor that had come out. I talked about having it at some other store, I came in later that week and they had stock of the new flavor. You cannot beat this level of service. Only place I like to to shop downtown. Go see the guys at City Market. Best spot in town for a bag a chips to a nice bottle of vino.

Spent five nights in Detroit just as a tourist. Stopped by this place three or four times to pick up things I forgot to bring, and for snacks to take to a baseball game. Very friendly and helpful staff, much larger inventory than I expected and prices that are competitive with the big box stores. I love this place!

For the location, this place surprised me with the variety of things they have. Vanilla extract, heavy whipping cream, even powdered Hershey cocoa. And theyre open late. They staff also were happy to see me when I came in and had no issue directing me to where things were. Thank you!

How silly am I?.....For years, I visited this store and always had great customer service BUT I never realized that there was a back area.I just realized today folks that they have a whole store. You have to go in the back pass the deli. They have all your needs, all the supplies/ product you need during this epidemic. I lived downtown Detroit off and on for 10 years moved away for five years and always come back into Detroit and just now learning of the secret area in the back lol.They are working hard to keep everything you need in their store giving to the community with a family approach. They could be at home scared like a lot of people because of the virus but they are choosing to work. They remain calm and strong. Please stop into this store and show these people love because you got to love a family that supports their own community in the good times and the bad.💞🙏 I have also witnessed them Feed the Homeless and give them work when they can🙏

City Market has everything under the sun you could ask for and theyre open until 2am everyday. Great downtown location with an extensive selection of food, beer, liquor, and wine! Very dedicated owners/staff and are always a pleasure to deal with. For me its not only convenient because I live/work downtown but I prefer the market for its overall quality and hospitality.

Small store with a variety of grocery items, snacks, prepared foods and drinks that’s conveniently located in Downtown Detroit. Store was around the corner from the Courtyard Marriott and I stopped in to get a number of items during my stay.

Such friendly staff! Great selection of beer, liquor and wine and my favorite is the addition of fresh meat, produce, and their homemade warm meals and of course the baklava! So great knowing after a long day I don’t need to suffer through a trip to the grocery store and can make a quick painless trip to City Market and get everything I need!

A staple of long time down town Detroiters. This is a full grocery store cleverly designed in a compact space. Hot food also sold with a menu that changes each day.

Best place to get anything downtown! Not only late night, but anytime. Great selection of wine, beer, liquor. But also staples as well. As close to a bodega as Ive seen since moving from New York. Love it!

A must visit anytime you’re downtown. The only place i can think of where you can get friendly service, great sandwiches, fresh produce, hot meals, and a great alcohol selection . They are the only store downtown that’s open until 2AM, which has been clutch for late night eats . Highly recommend!

New to Detroit and stumbled upon this place today! The prices are amazing and I was shocked how much cheaper the deli meat was compared to chain grocery stores! The selection of items was more then I even imagined! I live in new center and will DEFINITELY be going back to do my grocery shopping!

Good selection and prices like you would expect. Probably will shop here again in a pinch but never purchasing anything by weight again. Got a quarter bag of some loose coffee beans and they charged us for 2 pounds, but when I weighed it at home, bag and all, it didnt even come out to a whole pound. 10 oz. On top of the $9 a pound cost, getting charged more than double is ridiculous.

Full line grocery store and deli packed in to a small but super convenient space downtown. The deli counter makes awesome pasta salads, and they have hot meals to-go all day. Great people, great value, great experience!
