Construction made access a bit of a challenge, but what an excellent lunch stop on this spitty, nasty cold day! Friendly, solicitous wait staff and hot, delicious soup and sandwich-- the best of farmer food. We enjoyed the respite here.
Just an excellent breakfast. I had pancake and eggs. Perfect. My partner had an omelet. He said it might be the best he ever had. Service was great. I only have it a 4 as the decor could use an upgrade. Highly recommend!
Visiting from out of town, we thought wed get some breakfast before heading home. Im sure glad we did!! The service was so fast and so friendly. 5 meals were ordered and all 5 were absolutely perfect! Great business, we WILL be back

Great small diner feel. I work just a few blocks up the business loop so we go here for lunch sometimes. Every once in a while supper. No matter the time of the day or how busy they are you get a friendly service and great food. Try the burgers here they are great!
First off, the food was great no complaints there.But our waitress was something else. My sister, son, and I where seated immediately this morning. When our waitress came you could tell she wasnt happy serving us. She had a snippy attitude the few times we saw her. (Once to take our order, to bring our coffee, and give us our check) a different girl brought our food out.Shed walk by and completely ignore us. When we asked for cream and sugar she tossed them on the table like we inconvenienced her for not wanting to drink black coffee.She was happily spending her time conversing with other customers. I got the vibe that if you arent a regular you arent welcome. Its sad because their food was delicious but my family will dine somewhere else next time.
My husband and I stopped here today for the first time but definitely not our last. The atmosphere is fantastic and the service extraordinary. The portions are more than you expect for the price. Were already looking forward to our next visit.
Stopped here when passing through town. Excellent service and food.Im not typically a soup person, but theres was really good. Small salad bar but all the good stuff was there and fresh.Great Lunch!

My son received the wrong potato with his meal. Another table had received the potato meant for my sons meal. The server took the potato off the other table and tried to give it directly to my son.
Asked for a milkshake and my waitress said no because it would take too long for her and she’s too busy to get me one. Nice that you can only order stuff that’s convenient for your waitress!!

Service is impeccable. The sweetest ladies youll ever have. Salad bar is a must and the food is outstanding. One of the few places in Dickinson that has all of the above (great food,service and cleanliness) highly recommend
We went there on Valentines Day about 11:00am to get breakfast. We only had to wait about 5 minutes. Our waitress was very nice and kept our drinks filled.I got the Hamburger Steak and eggs. I ordered it Medium but it came kinda well-done. It was juicy, though, so I ate it anyway. It was good.My fiance got the pancakes and sausage and she said it was really good.I have not eaten here in seven years since I left and it is still good.
Really great, simple, home-cook-style food. Exactly what you have every right to expect out of a North Dakota diner. Roast beef dinner, pepper pot soup was awesome. Great service.

Ate dinner here and all of us were appalled by the poor and rude service. All four of us had mistakes on our order while all of us spoke clearly. Three of us did not insist on corrections out of sympathy for the seemingly harried server. My wife asked for a correction and received a long delay in the response from the server as well as a very long delay. Avoid this establishment!
Dont tell anybody about this place! No wait on weekend mornings. Good food and service. Need thicker French toast.
This place never disappoints. Good food as always but tonight we had a large party of 6 adults and 5 kids without any notice and our waitress was only happy to accommodate and asked that we please be patient as they were starting to get really busy which was no problem for any of us as we were in from out of town. She knocked it out of the park with incredible personal service despite the circumstances and actually took the time to listen to the kids orders and confirm what they were asking for, attentive to our party and she was working with many other tables at the same time, didnt miss a single detail and at the end genuinely wished us well and to be safe on our travels home and thanked us no fewer than five times for coming in taking special effort to give a heartfelt thanks to each of the three individual families. No doubt we will be back daily during this trip but in future trips a stop here will be mandatory.
I think you have to be a regular to get good service. The waitress didnt make eye contact with me while I ordered, so obviously and my order was wrong. No smiles or kind words and every interaction with the staff was like we are an inconvenience to them. I had the chicken fried steak and the entree tasted decent. The mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn were not good. (Cold and flavorless).

I use to live in Dickinson and stopped in while I was visiting family over the holidays. While I was in Dickinson, I could have gone to any restaurant and I chose Dakota Diner. This place is as good as it was back in 2008 when I lived in Dickinson. I sat at the booth and enjoyed the club sandwich with waffle fries. The portions are so big, needless to say I didnt need to eat anything else the rest of the day.

I was excited to try out this diner and when we went in were were looked at all the way from the front door from when we sat down. Our waitress Wanda was rude to us but inviting to everyone else. I feel like if you are not a regular you are not welcome here. We didn’t get a smile or how we are doing . When she took our order she was short with us. Dropped our food off at the table and never came back. Until we were done and waiting for our checks . And all she said was “ you good?” We got the check paid and left. It was so bad. Food was good but the experience was so uncomfortable.
Friendly staff and excellent food. I had the Hot Beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. Beef was melt in your mouth tender and flavorful. Chicken noodle soup was the best tasting Ive eaten in more years than I can remember. Will be back every time I get to Dickinson!!

Always great food. One of our favorite places to go. A couple of the servers arent very friendly and ignore you, so we try to avoid them. Otherwise almost always a great experience.
The front of the house seemed a bit understaffed for the number of patrons, yet the staff was still very friendly. The food was great, probably one of the best Hot Beef Ive had in North Dakota.

I was super excited to try this place it came highly recommended. First let me start out by saying it took them over 15 min to even acknowledge that my family even walked in the door even though there was two employees that saw we were there. After being seated and order taken by our very rude waitress we waited almost 45 min for our food was served to us cold. We went without drinks for most of our meal when there were only two other tables being served . I was very disappointed.

Im thinking the cook had an off day. Cod and ribeye overcooked. Not edible. Baked potato not completely cooked. Pretty disappointed. Service was good.
The pancakes were good but the staff needs to be trained on how to greet customers. I did not get a warm welcoming feeling. Instead I was stared at and ignored until someone decided to break away from the gossiping group. Something being said about Sammy and an STD. I don’t think it was an appropriate topic to be held at work while I stood there waiting to have my order took. Learn how to smile and be warm and inviting. I’ll be back and hopefully some changes are made.

Traveling from Yellowstone back to MN. Decided to stop to fill up and get some food. Looked up this place on Google and it had good reviews/rating. Great food especially for the location. My in-laws had the steak dinner, it was seasoned and cooked to almost perfection. My wife had the BLT and enjoyed it. My brother in-law has the Philly cheese and loved it. The fries we delicious. My roast beef meal was delicious except for the veggies. Cooked way to long. Other than the veggies they had a bit of a fly issue.
Absolutely tremendous. Food genuine and classy. I see people who look like me. Headed for Glasgow, MT for Scottish roots. Head shape is genetic.
Eggs Benedict were perfect. Service was solid. Enjoyed my meal. I was in and out in roughly 20 min. Nothing to complain about. A+ thank you.

Fantastic restaurant. I had a Philly cheese steak soup. I had never heard of this soup before. It was delicious. The waitress was on it, they were busy, but she never made us wait. All the food was good.

It might not be that much of a secret, but this is the best place to eat in Dickinson. I would enter Dakota Diner pancakes in a contest and expect to win any day.
Food was okay, and the wait staff was friendly enough. If you are immunocompromised or simply a greater risk for contracting COVID, do not go here. There was not a single mask on any staff member, and no social distancing observed. The closest thing they had to any prevention or bottles of hand sanitizer on each table. While I understand North Dakota has chosen not to comply with the same mask mandates as other states, this can be gravely concerning to some including myself.

The Dakota Diner is basically one of those restaurants the locals would prefer no-one new about. It is just that good, wholesome, full plate that the grand-daughters still make the way their grandma did.Excellent service, even when the place is packed, with a joy of feeding You that is very rare, and a wonder to watch, happen about you.The food is basic West Dakota Country style, made to fill the bellies of hard working farm and ranch families, with that deep flavor of low and slow cooking, with enough spices to intrigue, yet not overpower the mouth. They get it just right!Today I watched a to-go order re-packed by a long time waitress, teaching a younger one how to pack the food so it travels well. That means over gravel roads for nearly an hour before it is served to the harvest crew. That is quality service!Want a taste of Real North Dakota? You will find it here. Staying in Dickinson on our way to Medora. Had a great breakfast which was ample, delicious, and very reasonable. Service was wonderful also.
Food and service were fair but if Covid is a concern to you, eat elsewhere. No face covers of any kind worn by the staff.

This place serves some seriously delicious food, and Im picky about my coffee it has to be just right and these guys serve it just right, best coffee Ive ever had, I get the meat lovers skillet and it is perfect, Matt is usually our server and hes an awesome guy real friendly and really helpful. Awesome food, awesome people.
