I went to Boot Hill in the 80s when I was little. It has definitely had some changes since last I was here, but all for the better. Ill admit it doesnt look as rugged as it used to and a bit more tourist feeling, but the amount of information they have added is overwhelmingly fantastic. You learn about the importance of Dodge City to the West and quite a few of its inhabitants of the Wild West era (Name drop:Wyatt Earp). I hate to say I didnt get to go on a weekend and thats when all the gunslinging I remember when I was a kid takes place. Please for yourselves, go on a weekend its necessary for the good stuff. They have a gunfight in the streets, people dressed in period costumes and they offer things not available on the weekdays (ice cream). The ice cream would have been nice too it was 102F. The kids still loved it and if and when we make it back to Kansas I will stop on a weekend next time. Anyone traveling anywhere in the west side of Kansas should make an effort to go out of the way and stop here if they appreciate Wild West history (Westward Expansion).

If you are a fan of the old west or just have a general interest in American history then this is a must see. You can literally spend the whole day here looking at all the exhibits. Theyve done an awesome job of recreating the look and feel of what it was like. I especially loved the interactive exhibits. The gift shop also has a really cool variety of keepsakes to mark the occasion of your visit. I highly recommend the Boot Hill Museum and will definitely be back.

Living history museum in fantastic shape! There is a small entrance fee that all must pay, regardless if you have a parks pass or not. There are chickens, goats, horses and peacocks on site too. Each room is nearly arranged to give you an idea of life at the fort. 2 sets of restrooms are well stocked and clean.

Thoroughly enjoyed this museum, very nicely set up. We loved the interactive museum area. Its a very large museum with so much to see. The staff was very helpful and so sweet. We especially liked the part of the museum set up like a town. You go in thru the bar, have a beer or sasperella and proceed inside through the shops. I felt like I stepped back in time. It is well worth the money and your time. A must see if your going this way.

This place is probably the biggest Museum I have ever been to. Its both indoor and outdoor and has several different rooms to explore displaying different item of Interest. Its not just about the old west, its also about our culture and time in that period of Americas history. Very interesting. Is also pet and kid friendly. There is so much to see there you could not do it in one day. Also, Google only allows me to upload 50 pictures, that is not nearly enough!I would definitely go back there again!

I am not a big fan of museums, but this one is worth seeing. Interesting, informative, easy to navigate. Several different mediums used to give us information. Careful thought put in to the cemeteries. The western shoot out play was very well done with good acting (they’ve obviously devoted themselves to practicing), improvisations making it fun, and startling gun fire.

Neat place to explore the history of Dodge City. Enjoyed all the displays and especially the videos. Will remember the Conestoga wagon and the stage coach sections as well as the Buffalo stampede shaking the floor. Maybe my bad, but I didnt see anything indicating they were open.

If I could give 10 stars, I would. I was only able to make it for the last hour they were open, but the staff were so accommodating and friendly, that hour was the best Ive spent at about any museum Ive been to. The town replica is the original museum, with exhibits within it. Then theres a much newer building in front of it with even more exhibits. The area also features 3 or 4 original town buildings, which were my favorite. I didnt see any of the shows, but wandering around a mostly empty Dodge City replica was really all I couldve hoped for. I had a perfect visit, and highly recommend a visit to Boot Hill.

The museum is much improved. The last time I had visited it was 40 years ago. I was sad to see that the slanty shanty was no longer there. My one and only complaint has to do with the old west photographic studio there at Boot Hill Museum. Their costume designer needs to make female costumes for big and/or big chested women, which my wife is both. The costume that she was put in barely covered her quite ample chest. Also would have liked some period cavalry uniforms as they would have been period and regionally accurate and appropriate as Fort Dodge is a few miles away.Overall a great place to visit.

The museum is part outside representation of what old Dodge City would have looked like in the 1870s-1890s and part inside exhibitions with detailed history of everyday life in Dodge. They even have Bat Mastersons pocket watch! Having been to Deadwood, Abilene, and Hays, when one thinks of major Wild West cow and mining towns, one best not forget to visit Dodge at Boot Hill. Make sure to have a beer at the famous Long Branch Saloon.

Good, will be better once tourism comes back. We missed the gun fight.Well done blend of old artifacts (jail, Union church, and 2-story home) and re-creations (bank, store fronts). It was nice that the museum is actually hidden behind the store fronts. A lot of good, historical information that was presented well.We would give it a 5 except for the cost, but we understand they have to survive. $15/adult, $14/senior. Please dont let that deter you. It is an enjoyable place to stop. The gift shop has a wide variety of items from Dodge City souvenirs to associated western items. You want a bracelet made out of beads once bullets? How about a 6-foot set of long horns? What about a woven horse hair or a braided bison leather bracelet? Theyve got it!Also, the staff is very friendly and helpful.Do something old fashioned, send a postcard. I was able to purchase a stamp and mail the postcard from the gift store. My family still loves to receive these. Plus, its an inexpensive souvenir if you send one to yourself.

Absolutely amazing and well worth the time to visit. The original Boot Hill Cemetary is included. There are lots of things to read, & taking pictures inside the buildings is allowed. If you like old rifles & guns, this is the place for you to visit. There were a couple of buildings that were under renovation, so we could not see them. You can pretty much walk from storefront to storefront as if you were in an indoor strip mall. (This is what we did as it was a rainy day). If you want to see Boot Hill, that is behind the street, where they say some from that time period are still buried. The church, I believe they said was an original building. It is equipped with wooden pews, an old organ & some sort of piano. You can even go to the saloon & purchase a beer & you can get the youngsters a sasparilla. ( a.k.a. root beer).
