Long wait for a loaf of bread!Might be nice for sandwiches, but I wanted a loaf of their bread, which is expensive but tasty. After waiting for a half hour I just walked out. Two employees there but theyre just making sandwiches.

The Breakfast sandwiches are the best in the area! The service is great, and the staff is super friendly and accommodating!

I’ve been a regular for a while, but as Covid has gone on, I’ve sadly not visited. Went in this week and got my usual loaf of cinnamon chip, and picked up a pumpkin chocolate chip loaf as well. I had forgotten how much I love this place! Their cookies are amazing also!

I would definitely recommend their cinnamon rolls. So fluffy and not too sugary either. No long wait time, clean cafe, and cute outdoors area!

Went my first time this past Saturday and I had a sandwich with apples, bacon and a pepper jam..... it was AMAZING!!! The lady who was working was very nice and even gave me a piece of blueberry bread for free : ) Ive read their bread to take home is amazing will have to try next time! Highly recommend great food, great people!

We have gotten dozens of their great pecan rolls, cinnamon rolls, breads, etc and have shared them w many family and friends and we all love their food and service. We go to both DG and Naperville and great people and service at both locations.

My mom bought a loaf of bread purchase for $7. The salesperson was on the phone while we asked about the different breads. Not customer friendly at all. Loaf of bread was all raw dough in the middle. I messaged regarding the loaf and was told, “if we paid by card, the transaction could be looked up and we could be refunded.” My 81 year old mother paid cash. Never heard back after I questioned the refund because we paid cash. If this was for myself, I would be ok with this, but not my mother. I am disgusted at such poor customer service. Never would go back here. Shame on this business, especially during this time.

Love their bread. Its thick and hearty. The Baked Potato Bread actually tastes like a baked potato. The Garlic Cheddar bread has junks of cheese and will make your kitchen smell of garlic! My wife likes the nine grain bread for something healthier. Sandwiches are also very good. Try the Bacon/Cheese/Apple or the Chicken Salad (with pecans). Denise always treats us well. You will also see the owner and the family helping out the store on occasion also.

Great Harvest Bread Company is THE place for getting fresh, fluffy bread in all sorts of original and traditional mixes!I have tried both bread from here, and sandwiches. Let me tell you, I really appreciate a place that has a solid classic menu as well as more experimental breads and sandwiches for the eccentrics like me. I tried both the Popeye and Pumpkin Spice bread. My friend and I split our loot and I took the Popeye home; surprisingly, the loaf stayed moist and fresh for a whole week! You could eat it both plain and toasted, the texture was phenomenal in both aspects. Granted, I refrigerate breads, so your results may vary.The prices are a little bit higher than what you would expect a loaf of bread to go for in a supermarket, but that is a fair price to pay for fresh bread made every day. The price point may scare away some people, but it really depends what you prioritize. If you wanna grab some bread for a party, this might not be the most cost-effective place to shop in.This place also has more items than bread. Though I havent tried their other items, their selection of ready-to-make soup and various sauces look pretty interesting. This little store definitely tickles my food-adventurous fancy!

Delicious sandwiches and great bread

Amazing location, so nice to just stop in and have a sandwich on their homemade bread, enjoy some homemade soup and a great atmosphere. Owners Peggy and Larry are wonderful and so is their staff. You MUST try this place!

This place is great! Its always a must have when coming through town. Denise is such a sweet and energetic personality behind the counter. We love the scones and the specialty breads. Always an awesome treat!

I was glad to hear Great Harvest Bread was arriving in downtown Downers this past year. I have purchased many cookies for clients. A great place to being the while family for the sandwiches, smoothies & coffee. The famous chocolate pumpkin bread has a gluten free option that also tastes great! Will be back soon!!

I frequent the Downers Grove location and my expectations continue to be exceeded every time I stop in. The service is truly wonderful, Denise is usually there and is always extremely helpful and always inviting. I have yet to have a sandwich or bread that I did not love and the cherry almond cookies are a true hidden gem. Step outside your realm and stop in for breakfast or lunch, take in the amazing smells and be sure to enjoy the samples. Great Harvest Bread Co. is the essence of small business America and I am so happy to support them.

We love Great Harvest in Downers Grove. The breads and sweets are delicious. The staff is friendly, especially Denise, and go the distance to make sure that you’re satisfied. We love going for lunch - great sandwiches and nice atmosphere.

Really like thus bakery store. They have amazing bread loaf options (traditional, fruit mixed, etc.). They also make home made sandwiches for the lunch crowd. Only negative is that all this quality doesnt come cheap. Loaves are $4 to $8 each.

I enjoy the great service and quality of the Great Harvest Bread Company in Downers Grove. I have tried various breads, soups and sandwiches all of which have been of the highest quality. Denise delivers energetic service and is always cheerful and helpful with any questions I might have.

Decent sandwich for a child, 2 pieces of meat wont cut it for an adult. Salad was nothing but lettuce. Personally wont go here again

My wife and I first discovered this place at the Downers Grove Farmers Market, and it became a regular stop for us throughout the summer. Everything we have tried has been great. The chocolate chip pumpkin bread is excellent! They have GF options, too. The GF bread, cookies and loafs are all equally as delicious. Were going to go for breakfast one of these days and try the breakfast sandwiches.

Denise is so cheerful. Great low carb bread. Healthy choices. Nice atmosphere to enjoy coffee & breakfast sandwich or lunch with friends. Glad they came to Downers Grove.

Really great people, love the idea of scratch made bakery in DG. Bread was great. BUT...A ton of people were ordering the Breakfast Sandwich this morning we picked up a couple ourselves and the bread was great, good cheese and bacon, the egg was really gross. Scratch made is great but when you give a rubber fake egg it is a let down. I think I would get this sandwich every day if they made some real scrambled or fried eggs but unfortunately still on the hunt for a good Breakfast Sandwich in the area!Hope they see this and make a change 🙏Welcome to the neighborhood!

I had a great experience at the Harvest Bread Company! I tried the scone of the day, which was delicious! I walked out with the Oregon Herb bread & I cant wait to slice into it!

Beautiful space in the heart of downtown Downers Grove. Fabulous food with lots of local goodies like honey & nut butters. They even have nitro coffee! Super friendly staff too!

I was so hoping to love this place - wed waited so long for it to open, and when it finally did, management left it in the hands of a couple of inexperienced young adults that meant well, but didnt have the capability/training to run things efficiently - half of the menu items were not yet available. Big smiles and great intentions, but a long wait for an under-grilled cheese sandwich. The gal behind the counter apologized that shed charged us for tea when there wasnt any. She brought us our money back, but it never occurred to her to bring a couple glasses of water instead. Tables hadnt been wiped recently...management needs to get things running in good order instead of leaving the help to figure it out as they go. Downers Grove needs a good sandwich place. Ill come back and try again soon - hopefully things will be running more smoothly! Fingers crossed that a second chance wont be in vain.

Great tasting products but often out of things and not enough workers.

I purchased an $8.00 loaf of sourdough bread. It had that wonderful smell but tasted like regulare french bread. Very disappointed. I am a sourdough fanatic i love the stuff. In the 1950s and 1960s my aunt and uncle thzt kived near San Francisco would bring 2 loaves of Boudin sourdough bread . Everytime they came to Chicago. (Back then there wasnt auch a priblem bringing food items nnnnkk in the plane. )So i know sourdough breadIm sorry but the sourdough bread from the jewel bakery tastes better than Yours and i pay less then half the price of yours... sorry.. not impressed. More like rip off

This place has delicious bread, but also incredible customer service! Everyone Ive interacted with has been so kind and helpful, and Denise truly went out of her way to make sure I got the bread I had been craving. Dont skip the cinnamon swirl bread or the Asiago foccacia either - but everything Ive had has been amazing. SO HAPPY this location is here and I recommend to literally everyone I know 💗
