Best place for Indian street food and sweets. Visited this place two times. Everything is good here and sweets are fresh.
It doesn’t even deserve 1 star. I have tried it a few times and always disappointed. They don’t keep anything fresh. Even if they have, they’ll give the old / spoiled stuff first. Last time, I went there to buy rasmalai. They gave the fresh to taste which was ok. I bought 2 boxes. When I came home and opened them, they were the spoiled ones (slimy and sour smell was coming). I could have gone back but I stay very far. Please don’t trust them. If you buy something from there, check there itself.
I went to purchase mithai for Diwali and they were out of half of the mithais I had come to purchase. How can you be out of mithai on Diwali WEEK given that it is the basis of your entire business?! I was able to purchase some kaju katli and it was very delicious, however, I was disappointed that I drove all that way only for them not to have half the products I wanted in stock.
This shop is not my fav for sweets. I dont know how fresh they are, tried few but they were all nah for me. The ras malai was bad, crumbling and the texture was bad. The only thing I like from this store is there kulfi section.
I bough some Gulab Jamun and White Rasgulla around 8/11/21 and was given a fungus infested lot. Ended up enduring food poisoning and subsequent hassle (Both time and money wise ). I was a regular to this place but now would avoid going here at all the cost. All is not neat and tidy in this kitchen. Worst part was management trying to very bluntly defend that rotten D grade sweet, I have reported this to FDA and ll be providing them the frozen sample (thankfully I kept them), later my attorney will take legal cource once my hospital bills and test are aligned. This is the picture of the sweet I bought from them, if you observe carefully the degradation is clearly visible, it was however my ignorace (or rather misplaced trust) that I bought and consumed without checking from these guys. Anyone having similar experience please dont take it hands down. Please do get in touch with me if you want to tag along in the legal case I am building. These guys need to compesate for peoples health they have been goofing around with. Regards : PK
Good selection of Indian street/snack foods, but very slow service. They offer a good selection of chaat, the fried rice dishes were good too. But lately, theyve been getting slower and slower. The last time I placed a takeout order, it took them an hour to make it (it was four items). I guess if I go back, I better plan way ahead.
Food is delicious!Service wasnt so great,The restaurant doesnt have any Air Conditioning. Do yourself a favor and order ahead of time. They do have desserts that I will go back for in the future.
The food was good. If youre looking for authentic South and North Indian food, this is the way to go. They also have an extensive selection of sweets and snacks to take home with you.
Nice employees, listen to what you have to say & were accommodating
I usually dont post bad reviews unless its REALLY bad. We used to love Gokul sweets in Decatur and decided to try this one despite the bad reviews. The other reviews are correct. The food here is below mediocre. For the poori bhaji, we got a dry potato Sabji with coconut chutney, which we thought was strange. The ragda patties was good. The paneer Tikka dosa was extremely soggy and the masala was tasteless, no flavor. We blamed ourselves for ordering a South Indian dish in a chaat place and thought, you cant go wrong with bread and ordered pav bhaji and garlic naan. Boy were we wrong! The garlic naan was mostly uncooked and flat (liked tandoori roti) and the pav was flat and wasnt appealing and the bhaji tasted bad (might be a couple of days old). I hope they turn around to matching the expectations from the Decatur location.
I wouldnt even give them 1 star actually. The food was inedible. We literally had to dump everything in the garbage. The idli, dosa, vada pav, medu vada. Every single item was inedible. There was no salt at all and items were not fresh. We also tried to return a snack we got at the counter. They offered an exchange item which made my child sick. They did not offer any refund and even refused a refund when requested. Very poor customer service and food. Please avoid at any cost.
So disappointed and furious: today we were sold SPOILED Rasmalai (as in the cream turned sour). Been going there for YEARS, but took a long break due to Covid. Today was the first day since probably early 2020.Over the years, we catered from there for Divali events and when I worked nearby, I enjoyed many quick lunches there. So Im familiar with the place.Today specifically, I asked if the Rasmalai was fresh, and rather than answering yes or no... there was back and forth dialog in their language; no big deal, English translations are tricky, whatever. The Rasmalai was soured. Coincidence? Well never know. The karachi chaat was mediocre as well: droplets of chutneys (I dont think there was any mint chutney), maybe a teaspoon of onions and a boatload of the topping. Not what I remembered.I called to let them know and (Farood?) who answered was very nice, very apologetic and said hed let the kitchen staff know and would give me a refund or a dish for free.Keep it. Im so turned off by this experience.
Good collection of Indian sweets and chats. Very tasty. There staff are also very friendly.
I never have eaten this much bad tasting masala dosa ever. It literally had some fillings and curry tasted so bad and so visible that it is old. Puri masala was full oil and masala was having some high jeera taste. Could not eat much food and had to waste. I felt sorry for the food but it tasted not good and did not want to hurt my stomach. Stay away. Lost $33 for 2 masal dosa and a puri masala. Last time i had some good masala dosa from that global mall norcross. Their atleast food was kind of okay worth for money.
Gokul sweets is not the same gokul sweets anymore.Their price reached sky and their taste is so bad now a days if there is negative rating I would give that too. I had to give this rating after 10 orders with the same bad taste and experience. So finally I decided not to order from gokul sweets anymore
AUG 28: DONT waste your $$ here.. nothing will be served fresh. breads are smelly /expired. Just wasted 40$ today with family. Ah forgot.. Covid Safety:its totally joke here.. check at pan outlet. Oldy coughs without mask on pan and arrange Pan for you.. handgloves.. they chage one gloves per day..
Very nice Tade. We liked the sweets. Seating capacity if very minimal. We always do pick up. Try sweet cutler when you are there. It very nice
Everything is great. I wanted one of each thing in there. Might have to go back soon as this wasnt enough.
I never saw that big Indian sweets and namkeen shop. Really glad I went there. I took some assorted sweets on the way.
One of the worst sweets here.. When the tray is more than 50% empty do not buy sweets from the tray.. It is not fresh. Before we bought we asked 1000 times with the staff whether it is fresh or not. We were told everyday tray are sold fresh.. Unfortunately we trusted and bought with lots of hopes with freshness but at home when we opened all the other guests literally every single guest complained about the quality and sweets are pretty close to rock solid level. Eating stones... Never recommend.
Looked like they had good food, but were extremely crowded.
LOVE coming here!! Always clean and super fresh food. My favorite place in Atlanta.
This place is absolutely delicious....and .y favorite meal is a Pittsburgh raw steak 😂!!!I suggest the Saag Paint or the Goku special for a little bit of everything.
Good decent portions, good taste, and quick turnaround time
This place has the best hot and sour soup I have EVER tasted! Its absolutely perfect. Besides that, their samosa chaat and mithai is incredibly delicious. Definitely one of the must try places in Atlanta!
We bought 3 Chana Bhaturas last night. Our whole family suffered with nausea, diarrheas, heartburn and my wife even threw up. AVOID
We order and picked up. When I came home and opened the food I thought this was a joke, because the quantity was so less, that not even 2 people can eat from one curry. Until then we were okay but when my daughter started to make the Dahi puri she saw that the sweet chutney, green chutney, and the Dahi were mixed together! When we tasted the a paneer curry it was taste less. We would rather have my husband make, even though he barley knows how to make food. I would have given this a 0 star if I could,”. This was a waste of money. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Head to Gokul when cravings hit for the desi street food!!! Fresh and huge variety of mithai yummm 😋
They do serve Chole bhature made with stale sour dough.
Excellent options for snacks and indian food. Never been disappointed with anything that I have ordered. Thali is also filing and tasty
We ordered the veg thaali.Food was ok all the dishes were sweetish.Dal fry was not good tasted as if tomato ketchup was added to it.They need to cut down on oil and sweetness.Try to make the veg sabzis medium spicy without adding sugar cream or tomato
Worst food ever. We have been eating to GOKUL sweets Decatur for years and love it. This shop, we tried 2 times before and the food was OK ok both times. But yesterday we ordered different curries, chat, etc. and nothing at all was having any taste. The quantity was also very less and specially kadai paneer and dal were the worst. We dont like wasting/throwing food but had to this time.
One of the worst experience we ever had, Puri tastes like zera Roti dipped in oil & halwa was like orange slime along with sour channa. The worst place for Halwa Puri Breakfast!
Very bad. Didnt expect Gokul sweets uses oil. Got stomach upset after chola batura
Now the gokul restaurant became worst food quality is very bad, yesterday I bought two dishes they put toomuch water one is mutter panner and one alumutter, it looks like sambar that much water and quantity also less. Last week I bought Ras malai sweet the pieces are like rock. The restaurant became very worst.
I used to go to the Abbots Bridge location. Absolutely disgusting food being served here. After eating food one evening I suffered food poisoning. The quality here has declined. Dont eat at this location!!!!
Waited over 45 mins for 2 chole batura. On enquiring someone from inside told the lady at the counter to refund. Horrendous customer service. Polar opposite of the service before the pandemic. Most staff is gone and the owners are rude
Favorite place to pickup indian snacks and sweets. Also quick chat patty food.
I fall in love with new dish every time I try one. They are so good and I enjoy the dinning area. Its very cool place to go or get lunch.
Most ridiculos service ever. I ordered six items i got two and I had to wait 1 hr for the other two. at the end they gave me the rest as to go. It is a busy store and two people working, taking order in person, taking order over phone, taking order for sweet on another counter and also serving food.Horrendous service. First and Last time to this store.
Nice yummy north indian food
Slow service more than 45 mins for one dosa. Taste average.
Good place for Indian fast food
There is an unfortunate trend with Indian restaurants in US that the food and service both deteriorates as the restaurant becomes more famous and successful. Unfortunately, GOKUL SWEETS in Duluth GA is no different. We have been regular customers of this place and have recommended many Indian and American friends to this place over the years. We have been noticing that quality of food has been going down, staff had become a lot ruder and more careless and wait time was increasing but we were still supporting this Indian business. However, what happened today is forcing me to write this review and we will not be returning to Gokul Sweets ever. As usual in this COVID environment I ordered ahead for pick-up and my mistake was that I did not ask to confirm prices while ordering as I was ordering my usual. When I arrived at the shop to pick up food the bill was almost 30% more than usual. When I asked, they said they charged $3/garlic naan even though their website and menu in the restaurant said price to be $1.87/ naan. Their excuse was that this is the new price just did not get time to update website/ menu. Charging more than advertised price is illegal. I can no more be buying from a business that is not only rude, bad in service, with degrading food quality and now price gouging customers.
Every food of this place is so delicious but my favorite is masala dosa and Karachi chat and also love the environment very much.
Good selection. Taste is good too.. But their cleanliness is quite questionable . I just hope they improve that one aspect. I would give 4 stars if that was fixed.
Have been here only a couple of times. You must try their Channa Bhatura. Very nice!
Awesome Fresh paan. Sweets are too sweet!!
Terrible service. Subpar food.
Good food, good customer service.
Everything is good but everytime there is the tall guy with glasses and highlights, he us super rude and throws the reciept and has a big attitude problem. Might end up getting a tochen some day. Very detrimental for the business.
Amazing food. Feels like eating in India. Dosa is very big so don’t underestimate it’s size
Too good quality. Especially Ajmeri Khalakan
Ordered lunch with clear instructions for chat items to be mixed and every single item was just packed to be made by ourselves. The samosa chat had to be thrown away because the Channa masala had gone bad. Even the signature Bombay Sandwich was messed up because the vegetable patty was still frozen and not cooked completely. Totally disappointed with the service. Called the restaurant back immediately to let them know but they dont seem to care a bit. Had high expectations because we are still a big fan of their main branch in Decatur.
Sweets and snacks are good but people in the shop the way they look at customers is different, this is my personal opinion.
Beautiful restaurant...Everything is totally clean and Decorated...The food is all vegetarian, which is a plus for people such as myself...would definitely recommend...Their menu has everything you can think of in an Indian Cuisine
Mango Milkshake was very bad. It was like I was drinking mango puree from the canned item with no taste of milk.
Bad samosa.. I gave up after 3rd attempt. Samosas are burned, not crispy. Not fresh.
We ordered chaat, and it was cold. Taste was acceptable.Their Namkeens are good with moderate spices. Sweets are just ok in taste.
Taste of sweets is not good and freshness is questionable. Hygiene is very poor. Person on the counter was not wearing mask properly. He put finger in his mouth and then proceeded to work with other customers. Avoid this place.
This place has plenty of variety and all of them are pretty good. Service can be improved.
They have good sweets, but some sweets are bland and taste the same. My favorite is Jublee and jalebee. Thier falooda is good too
You can find all sorts of yummy Indian chaat here.
Best place for Indian and Pakistani snacks. But for me there quick plates are unique and delicious. Its not something out of the world but the way they make it just unbelievable. Service is quick. You wont find yourself waiting too long. Their snack collection is huge. Most of the snacks are ready to go. But if you think of a snack which you like and is not ready, they will make that on order. Staff is very friendly.
Really liked the sweets over there. They are vegetarian and the food is also good there. You can also get pan over there.
The food was good but the quantity was less.
Pretty nice place with very wide variety of indian food choices of north-south-west, courteous service
No hygiene. Misplaced order, run by bunch of high schoolers taking orders. never going back.
Great vegetarian dishes..
I love the Chole Bhathuras here. They are very yummy plus ALL the mithais.
Chats are excellent. However tiffins are not so good. Tea is good but coffee is not so good.
Gives you the feeling of going back to India and the food is next level
Food is not upto the mark what you expect from a vegetarian restaurant. i will give it a pass unless you just stick with some specific sweets
Worst food, very rude staff, we were waiting about an hour still our half order didnt come, they need to learn how to make dosa, worst dosa ever we tried it. When we told them we didnt receive half 3 curry and 1 noodles they been mean to us, never going back there, lady who was working itching her hair without washing hand she get back to work, went to the counter sweet that guy waited on 5 people who came after me and trying to ignore me very mean staff, they need to improve their customers service and food quality, they have really tuff competitor around that people will choose over them, not going back ever
Authentic Indian Food great service!
Great service. Lip smacking food and good quality. We went while it was about to shut late at night still we were offered a wonderful meal and a great service. Theres plenty of dry snacks and sweets to choose from at the store. Just taking a star out as we wanted to have pan and it was closed but not the fault of the store as its not entirely part of the store. But overall good first experience!
We can buy sweets nothing else, worst food is served.
Nice little place if you are in to the Indian cuisine.
Amazing vegetarian/vegan Indian food. There are so many options to choose from. I have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly people, very welcoming and appreciative of you being there.. Has casual India ambiance. I definitely recommend.
