Thad is always super helpful and extremely knowledgeable. I have faith in everything he has recommends and he has not let me down. I have been brewing a bunch of cider and mead and he tells me the right way to do things and helps clear up all of the confusion the internet puts out.

Im a small brewer and have been apprehensive about going to a local shop to get supplies, mostly because the people are hoity toity and have an arrogance about themselves. This place has NONE of that. The owners are average dudes and are really down to earth and know their stuff!!! I will definitely be going back here to get more grains and hops!

Wonderful place

It was my first time in Brew & Wine Hobby. The person who helped me was very knowledgeable about the beer making process. He helped me out and made a few suggestions on what might be the best way to make beer. He told me that I should download a book to read first to help with the process. They have a selection of premade beer ingredients on the back wall. I would go back again.

I was the designated driver for a homebrew club that meets there sometimes, and it was a fun experience. Kinda cold inside, but clean and fairly well organized, so it gets the job done.

Some of the best customer service around! Rich spent a great deal of time explaining to me the basics of wine making and didnt hesitate to answer any and all of my questions. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned vet this place has some great products and service that is hard to find these days. Cant recommend them enough!

Had never been to this place but always wanted to stop. Thad was amazingly helpful. I normally brew beer but wasnt looking for supplies. My wife always wanted to try and make wine so we bought a kit and Thad was there to answer all our questions and you could tell he really cared about making sure we were taken care of.

This place is by far the best Homebrew shop Ive ever been to. Everything you want is always in stock and the staff is super knowledgeable. It can take a while to check out sometimes but thats only because of the super informative conversations taking place between customers and/or customers and the guys who work here. Prices are very reasonable as well. Love this place.

Brew and Wine Hobby is a nice little store for the amateur vintner or braümeister. The staff is very helpful with advice, which is so important with a science that is, in large part, more art than science. I only wish the store was a little brighter inside, but the location is convenient, they have the supplies you need, prices are very fair, and its nice to support the local economy rather than sending your money to Amazon.

I started making wine 5 or six years ago and would not have been successful at all if it had not been for the help and encouragement I received from all staff year after year. They offer advice, solutions and just plain enjoyment of making wine/beer. I tell everyone about them. And congrats on your success with Firefly... great, great beer.

I tried 4-5 brew ingredient suppliers between ct, ma as i learned the craft, this is by far the best one. Ive sent friends interested in brewing here theyve got everything you need to get into it and a owner operator that will help you as you become an experienced home brewer.well organized self serve grain room or send your recipes in ahead to be compiled for you.

So far my most favorite brewing supply stores in the area. The prices are great and the guys there are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Im there at least once a month if not more. Its a great place

Great store with incredibly knowledgeable staff. Being new to brewing, it can be intimidating at times to enter these stores. That is not the case here. I was able to bring my first home brew in and he was able to give me pointers on how to improve. That is invaluable and beats any of the online competitors. I look forward to visiting this store often as I improve.

This place is great! If you live just far enough away and are debating whether the trip is worth it, just go! You wont regret it. Rich is possibly the coolest man alive, and knows almost EVERYTHING there is to know. The selections are incredible, and the self serve grain area is great. This is my new go-to store for anything brewing.

My wife and I went into the shop for the first time a few days ago and werent expecting much; the shop is in the back of a ratty building, the sign is cheap and dirty, and everything told us to get ready to run; then we went inside. Not only did they have everything we needed to start brewing wine and beer right away (I have a gallon of strawberry wine fermenting in my kitchen as I write) but the gentleman in the store spent around an hour with us explaining how everything worked, recommending equipment and books, and giving us advice. This is a great store, with great people, and great prices! I cant recommend it enough.

From the first time I visited after getting a brew kit for x-mass bought elsewhere, to the present day, 3 years later, this has been an excellent source for supplies and great advice for this brewing hobbyist. Ive leaned heavily on these guys for advice on multi style beer brewing ingredients & supplies, mead brewing, and Barley Wine brewing and never been disappointed. OK, yes I have stopped in to two other brew supply stores in central CT, just out of curiosity, but save yourself the effort as no one is a better source, whether beginner or Brew Master. Ive asked some very spot-on questions about specific recipes and brew procedures, and gotten sound, no BS advise. Check it out for yourself.Tim

The people there are really helpful and have a ton of knowledge. Unfortunately theyre always out of key ingredients and supplies. Its incredibly frustrating to see that if they increased supply on items in high demand they would do more business. I usually have to order online. I wish they ran the business side better.

If you are looking for a place to get home-brew supplies dont waste your time going anywhere else! Anyone from first timers to experts will love this store. The staff are very helpful and willing to assist you in any questions you might have for them. The grain room is well stocked and they have a great supply of yeast and hops. My wife and I asked a simply question about wine making and the staff didnt stop there they informed us about all the different kits and what we needed to get our first batch of wine going. Its really nice to have a place that you dont feel intimidated to ask questions and they are so eager to help and teach their customers about the hobby they obviously take great pride in. The prices are also outstanding and compare easily to some of the biggest online distributers. You will not be disappointed!

This place is pretty great. Awesome selection and very knowledgeable staff. The owners also own a local brewery which makes some pretty damn good beer. I remember my first time coming here, I had an el cheapo brew kit that cost 40 bucks or so at some mall novelty shop. I wont mention any names. One of the owners was working that night and I had come in just to browse and see what the hobby had to offer. He spent nearly 2 hours with me, tasting beer and offering some professional advice, the details of which I wont bore you with. The bottom line is, these guys are very knowlegable and seemed to care more about ensuring I loved the beer, rather than ensuring they got my money. That was 10 years ago and I havent been disappointed since.

Did research before choosing this place. Turns out, their website was the only one out of 19 others that actually was working properly and had prices and supplies listed. So my brother and I chose to give them a try. We have never brewed anything before so this was a new experience for the both of us. We traveled the half hour from Enfield to find a VERY helpful and knowledgeable staff who answered every stupid question we could think of. Not only did they spoon feed brewing hard apple cider to us, but they also gave us a much better deal on our supplies then anywhere ells we were looking. If you are new to brewing or thinking of getting into brewing then I would definitely recommend you stop by this place. Thank you for exceeding all of my expectations and especially for your help and patience.

I recently started 1 gallon all-grain brewing using the Brooklyn Brew Shop kits, but really wanted to expand to something beyond what they offer. I decided to give this shop a try and was very happy I did! It kind of feels like a warehouse dedicated to wine and beer making, and the excellent people who work there clearly love what they do. When I got to the counter (after walking around) I told Thad that I was hoping to make an Octoberfest style beer next, and he printed out a recipe then walked me around the shop to get exactly the right grains, hops, and yeast. He even patiently answered all my newbie questions and let me sample some of the grains. I had a blast and learned so much in those 20 minutes. I got enough supplies for two 1 gallon brews and it was about the same cost as one BBS kit, very reasonable. Highly recommended, I am a customer for life now!
