I had called another coin shop in Eau Claire to see if they bought gold. They didnt, but recommended I call Brian at General Coin and Gun Exchange. I had also already Googled current gold prices and what to expect when selling to a dealer. When I called Brian, and asked for a ballpark quote over the phone, the price he gave me was pretty close to what I had read. So I went to see him and he looked up the price, weighed my gold, and gave me a fair offer, which I took. Friendly, straight forward, and fair. It was a huge relief as I was a little leery of trying to sell gold and not wanting to get taken advantage of. Shook on a great trade for my AR-15 for a handgun. Returned two more times to buy another handgun, cool guys, great selection, fair trades!

The owner and his lackey luke(if I remember right) are a real pair of sketchy individuals. They tried to lie to me on the value of a couple of gun and offer pennies on the dollar. Went to another lgs and was offered fair wholesale and then for kicks went to scheels who still offered near fair(still over double what I was offered here). Avoid these con artists and visit some of the other much better local gun stores

I am from out of town here to hunt with my father in law. My gun was jammed and the big hunt was the following day. I called. They said bring it in. In and out in 20 minutes ready to go!!! These guys went above and beyond.Thanks!

Outstanding gun store. I’ve been in there a few times now. The first time the staff as very friend, great to talk to. I had them install some night sights on my XD. The gunsmith there did and outstanding job for a great price. I just got back from taking it to a range and the sights are on target. I also bought a gun online had it sent to them and I was impressed with the service from them. They called me as soon as they received the gun and was in and out in no time.

So far Ive bought three firearms from Luke and the crew. Everybody is so nice and very helpful as I try to advance from novice to intermediate. They helped me with selection and reassembling my pistol properly. I learn something everytime I go in the store. No pressure. Very comfortable place.

Had to switch my review after my last experience with them. It was my first experience dealing with Brian and my last with General coin and gun. Your mileage may vary but their true colors will show at some point. I would stay away, plenty of other reputable shops around that treat their customers right.

Came to general coin and gun to see if the had an XRF machine. Lasker jewelers recommended them. Service was top notch seemed to know their stuff didnt have the metal tester I requested use of but while waiting to ask one question the company made two bulk coin purchases from two walk-ins. Came back the next day with a very choice group of 5 coins book value near 800.00 and was offered considerably less than a tenth of that after the guy I assume is the owner pretended to look through a grey sheet somehow coming up with $17 for a NGC slabbed 1956 ty1 pr67 Franklin half...book value this one coin alone $445 the same amount its been for three years. Maybe if your coins are being sold for scrap come to these guys otherwise maybe take your business elsewhere if it involves numismatic items of ANY value.

I give most of my business to this shop and they deserve it. Impeccable customer service, quality and atmosphere; General has what you need. Very reasonable prices and theres a lot of history there. These guys know their craft and it shows in the experience you get when you shop there.

Best selection of hard to find bass tackle around. Brian is always great and they help support some of the state youth fishing programs. Always great to work with people who give back.

Best prices and customer experience. I will make many more purchases here. Its about an hour and a half from where I live but the low prices make it worth the drive.

One of the few places you can still find military surplus firearms. With that in mine, they are usually overpriced. I have scored a few deals there when they didnt know what they had though

Good place to buy guns. They have a pretty good selection of new and used firearms. They also buy and sell gold and silver coins.

I dont hand out one star reviews to anybody but these guys earned it. Its an okay place to visit if you need a basic deer rifle but thats it. They know absolutely nothing about military surplus firearms or ammo. They run the same, tired inventory. Theyre either priced 75% higher than theyre worth, or they price it so low that its a steal. If the latter is the case, play stupid because they will not hesitate to mark it up to their 75% value increase and sit on the same inventory for eternity. For example they have a rack grade M1 Garand in there for over $3,000. Unless it was used by Audie Murphy or Marilyn Monroe these guys are out of their minds. What did it for me was when I saw a few boxes of clearance ammo that they had for $4/box. They heard me mention to my dad that it was some rare ammo and should be purchased right away. The guy came behind the counter and scooped it like a hawk. When I asked if he was still selling the ammo he replied no with no explanation. I wont ever be around to find out, but I bet those same boxes will sit on the shelf until the store goes out of business with a $25 price tag still sitting on each box. Long story short, dont buy your guns here. There are plenty of better options like Tilden and Gander Outdoors.TLDR Dont support this sleazy business.
