Yet another disappointing TA/Petro store. More paid parking then non paid, as well as yet another store with no food options other then typical convenience store junk.
Stopped by to get breakfast yesterday and to my surprise no restaurant. We want to get out of the truck and enjoy a over priced meal. Enjoy a conversation with the waitresses. Come on not everyone likes IHOP
I work at the Petro Truck Repair as a TSA (Truck Service Adviser) though we are limited on employees on second shift. We try our hardest to get you in and out. With accurate wait times and professional service. Come in you will feel welcomed and you will leave happy knowing your Truck was done and done right. We have Both new and used tires. As well as recaps. Come in and let us work on your truck.
Small outdated shower. Mostly paid parking. Iron skillet is done…enjoy your donuts! This was a decent stop once upon a time. I will not be back!
There is no sign on the highway that the Iron Skillet restaurant is closed permanently. Barely any non reserved spots exist. We would not have gotten off of I70 here if there had been a sign saying it was closed. Probably why they havnt done it.
Ryan and Dalton had me in and out the shop very fast. They were extremely professional.
THIS WOULD BE A GOOD LOCATION FOR A TRUCKSTOP. This used to be a good travel stop now with the reserved parking moldy bread in the fuel island the only reason I would park in there is to go into the hotel bar and grill next door. GO EAT AT CHACERS JUST USE THE PARKING AN GO ELSEWARE THE BUFFET AT CHACERS IS GOOD AND ONLY $13. TA PETRO WAKE UP OR SELL OUT.
More than half of the lot is reserved spots. Actually there was some non reserved spots open but I had to leave got so discussed by this. Petro what you are doing charging drivers to park on top of what they are spending there is not right. Just remember people that park there is the one that made you what you are today😀
Restaurant permanently closed? Why? The only reason to ever stop at a petro was the iron skillet. With that being said, petro, youll not be getting anymore money out of me.After a long day all you want is a shower and a hot meal. To bad you forgot that truckers were people too.
If you going to close the restaurant permanentlyAt least take the damn sign downAnd the last 20 yearsThis truck stop is has wentfrom the best in Effingham to the worstThis is a horrible place and I will not ever stop again Petro and ta do not give a dam about customer service anymore or the truck drivers that made them what they are today
Horrible, I asked one of the ladies working tonight about if I left my debit card in one of the pumps and she said she would have someone check for me, I waited 50 minutes for someone to tell me if they had it there or not. Also the best part is the lady that was talking to me on the phone originally, clocked out and left before telling me if they had it or not. So I had another associate pick up the phone and ask me if I needed help after 50 minutes on the phone waiting to see if they had my debit card. Best part was they didnt have my debit card, and they were complelty confused why I was on the phone in the first place! Overall, not very pleased!
2 stars because of the fuel island food. This place could care less for truckers. No restaurant at all. Petro forgot what it meant to take care of its customers.
Wish you would reopen the Iron Skillet. I liked the food & the staff.
This Petro is awesome ( The majority of parking is free + Truck parking at chasers next door # the buffet is $13 ) especially the shower I was In Number 18 Awesome water pressure to shower heads 2 sinks tons of Room I did see they had several smaller ones this one is considered a handicap shower [ huge drivers theater seats 48 ]
Sent a truck to the service department there, driver had ran over something and ruined a rim and a tire on the trailer. I called and spoke to Ryan Becker, and got a price for a tire and how soon he could get to the repair. I was told they could get our truck right in. Ryan got us in the shop right away as promised, and did the repair quickly, He also pointed out some other things on the trailer that needed attention just to inform us but never tried to push us to have them repair it. We did end up buying 2 tires and a rim and a light repair. The bill was $849.65 which I was very happy with. I would expect a truckstop to be much more expensive. Im guessing this would be about what it would have cost me at my local shop. Ryan also had sent me pics of the damage of our driver running over something and what needed replacing. I was very happy and suprised with the professional service we received from Effingham Petro Service department. Ryan Becker is a great asset to the service department there. Thank you very much!!!
Restaurant is closed! and in august, it should be a IHop to replace it (a golden coral would have been better)... Looks like half of the parking lot is for reservation.... were far from the good ol days!!!
One of the cleanest Petro Centers Ive ever seen.
Petro used to have one of the best restaurants sorry but ever since it was bought out its gone down hill now completely closed dont waste your time shopping here buy your fuel and leave dont buy anything from them at all time these truck stops learn .over half the lot is pay only parking.only food is off the deli counter at fuel island pre-packaged heat and serve nasty gross and inedible.
Auto side--- Clean store and bathrooms ! Windshield wash at the pumps was actual Windshield wash, not just mostly yucky water like the rest of gas stations. The bathrooms were decorated so cute, & the soap in the bathroom smells really nice too!!
Taking the iron skillet out and putting in an ihop not good for diabetes!!!
Iron skillet still closed!TRash! The rest of the food is revolting
Years ago it used to be a decent location, with a 24hr sit down restaurant. A few years ago they started getting greedy and closing theh restaurant by 11pm and if u were lucky theyd reopen at 5am. Trucking is 24/7 they could of offered a late night limited menu with limited seating but no they dont give a ratsazz about the drivers that keep this country supplied.Adding to their greed they began making at least 1/3 to 1/2 of their parking lot pay 2 park. Do they really think taking in $1500 -$2000 a night plus overpriced food and misc supplies is neccessary? I hope the entire T/A Petro chain goes bankrupt
Be certain to find and meet Corrina behind the food counter on the fuel island so she can tell you how much she believes you are NUMBER ONE with her fickle finger of fate...as she also tells you what they WILL NOT serve you from the same counter where you are not allowed to serve yourself. If they cannot SLOP your request into a styro-foam tray or have it pre-wrapped and sitting for hours on a steamer...they will refuse to sell it to you and proceed to tell you (complete with colorful language) how wrong you are for having placed a special request they are NOT going to serve up so you can pay for it and leave. This was the last straw for me! I will not be going back to this establishment for ANYTHING. I strongly encourage ALL others to bypass this sewer spot as well!!!!
Shower not working. Broken. Waiting 3 hours. Took my shower from apps. not returned. and did not give any compensation :( zero star
Dont get work done here, mechanics are smartasses and cus you you out for not putting up with it.
Auto side (i.e. not truck). Clean and very east to get on and off the road. Compared to other fuel prices in the area, this matched and I did not have to deal with the traffic like at the next exit.
More than half the parking is reserved. And the restaurant is closed. I will not be stopping here ever again.
OK I stopped here because the sign says iron skillet I thought I have a nice hot meal, but this is the 2nd petro I have been to this week and the restaurant is closed and no option for a healthy meal you really expect all these hard working drivers to eat hotdogs and dunkin donuts for lunch or dinner? What a joke
Paid for reserve parking spot and NONE were available when I got there. Non paying drivers refused to move. The employees said there was nothingthey could do about it.
Theres got to be 100 pay parking spots. Unreal. Truck drivers are very appreciated here! TA/Petro WAKE UP! Loves has vowed not to charge to park. Easy choice. Loves is growing rapidly.
Second shop I stopped by today same as loves situation...for tire fix. I was advised waiting time three hours.🤔 But they were just standing and chatting and all the bay were empty. What a waste of money for this company.Thank You Truck Drivers..Keeping our job here at the truck stop, even tho were just pretending working.🗣📢NEED A NEW MANAGEMENT!
Was told the store was closed as they were ringing people out at the counter. My first time ever in my trucking career to stop here and now I see why. Customer service gets a big fat zero
Nice place to shop in effingham ill
I used to stop there. Not anymore. Done with that
Tried to get a trailer tire repaired, waited 3 hours, and was okay with that, after sitting in waiting area a worker came in and asked me how to jack the trailer up, walking out to look things over seen he had the front axle jacked up, while the flat was looking him in the face on the back axle.after telling me the tire he was going to take off had 100 psi in it I mentioned maybe you should fix this one next to it that had a nail in it. I come to find out it wasnt his fault he was repairing a good tire, it was simply written down wrong on the work order.and the tech was just doing what the work order said.
I give this place the highest due to the manager on duty today 2/20 not sure of her name she has went above and beyond her call of duty an helped a Truck driver out with pepper work thank you so very much for all your help today an my load will now b Deliverd on time ...So thank you to the manager on duty today (little petite young lady) very professional Thank you.Blantons Logistic Transport
I guess its just too much trouble to post signs at the fuel building to advise us of the restaurant being closed today. Seems here lately the one thing I can count on with Petro and TA is that I cant count on them for anything. For all the rest of you out there that are unaware, like myself, this restaurant is currently closed for remodeling. Seems they want to ruin our travels even more by putting in an IHOP. Two thumbs down on that idea!
Nice clean shower. Porter was nice I recommend shower #18 it would have 4 to 5 stars but Roy at the register was rude and sat there with his arms crossed and stared at me the entire time I was in the store VERY CREEPY! Not cool. His attitude is alot to be desired. Aug 26, 2020
Truck Service - horribleI went in for an oil change with my semi truck. The guy had absolutely no idea what he was doing and took a really long time to get it done. Ive been a truck driver for 25+ years and I never had anyone take so long to do an oil change. I had to basically supervise him and make sure he doesnt break anything because I noticed he was doing A LOT of mistakes. I couldnt go grab something to eat because the level of his incompetence scared me- I stopped him from making a few major mistakes that wouldve cost me a lot of time and money to fix and wouldve caused damage. One of the super obvious proof of inexperience, incompetence, and extreme lack of training is the fact that he didnt know the basic righty tighty, lefty loosie rule.He was reallyyy struggling to uncrew the filter...Instead of loosening it, he was tightening it. I had to go do it for him.He was also really messy. When he went to put the filter back in its place, his hands were fully covered with the oil - no wonder he was struggling to tightening it back up.
Places that have dining rooms open, is a welcome comfort. Wear your mask and social distancing as a precaution. People are really nice.
Dont buy coffee here...
The DD coffee is terrible. I informed Roy the cashier that myself, my husband, and another driver found it to be so bad that we emptied our cups in the sink. Roy proceeded to taste said coffee and said it tasted fine to him. He did not bother to clean the canister or brew a new one. Roy is not a helpful employee at all. He would rather sit behalf the counter with his mask hanging from one ear than even begin to do his job.
Stopped for drinks and gas on the road. Best gas prices in the close to 300 miles of Illinois we drove. Good selection of snacks & drinks and clean restrooms. Friendly staff too!
Always available parking
23 MINUTES TRAILER TIRE AND GONE
I came into there shop for low air pressure on my big truck.I have been told I needed a new air compressor.so they put one on .Took them all day as I was in shop at 8 am an spent the night in shop. After they finally got new one on truck would not start an stay running. This morning they got truck running but still NOT building air.So now they are going to put on a new air compressor reg.I,m thinking if that was the problem to start with!! The man worked on it today seems to know what hes doing unlike the other on.I went to leave the shop an I have no power sterring an saw a coolant leak so back to shop I go.Well I guess the people wanting the load in my trailer will be happy to see me if I ever get there, pray for me.
Ok I am so done with TA/Petro and all this paid/reserve parking. Theyre not getting my business beginning with Walton, Florence KY and Effingham IL. Boycott! Kudos to the Cleatwater MN plaza with no resreve parking and super staff and discounts. Notice the whole center of the lot empty. Yeah I can see how much the drivers like this kind of service. Shame on them.
-* No restaurant open -*. Dont waste your time keep going.
Great dinner buffet including all you can eat small steaks. Fried chicken and pot roast tips were delicious. Home made mashed potatoes and stir fried on the grill fresh mixed vegetables. Fresh milk and orange juice very good also.
Decent enough place except for all the paid parking and the restaurant being closed. Other than that nothing special.
Great food and clean restrooms. Fuel aisle deli also has some goodies overnight which works out for my shift. Shop was fast and friendly when I needed truck repairs. Slots are fun killing time til my load is ready but only if Im winning!
First class truck stop!! Fresh salad bar and hot buffet with a variety of items. Friendly staff and clean showers and restrooms. I rate it 5 stars. Its one of our favorite places to stop. And they have a full service truck shop.
No restaurant. Too much paid parking for very little services. Verizon customer service there is a joke.
TA and PETRO have a competition and rewards for the laziest mechanic in their shop.Horrible and slow
No restaurant, face mask to enter, 18 dollar parking. Im so glad the country realizes that us truck drivers are what keeps America rolling and they are doing what they can to make our lives more manageable. Can you read the sarcasm.
The staff needs to be more trained!👎
Its ridiculous they want you to pay for the parking spot here at this Petro ta Petro has gotten ridiculous with the paid parking they make enough off of us inside their stores...#stoppaidparking
Restaurant not open, but has great bar/ grille next door.
If they aint gonna have the Skillet open, they need to take the sign down
Friendly staff; clean restrooms, well stocked, plenty of parking, truck wash and chrome shop across the street, iron skillet always good. The buffet is okay. The diesel prices could always be a bit more competitive.
Stopped for fuel. Wash windows. Went in to get some hot breakfast at fuel shack. Stood there for 5 minutes or longer. One person counting biscuits and back. Never asked if I needed any thing. Left without purchase
Long time waiting for service at the shop, over 5 hours wait
Paul the assistant general manager in the shop is great to work with ... he gives good honest customer service and does his best to make sure that the job is complete and done the right way
It really depends on which Petro you go to. The one in Joplin is awesome, they have chrome shops, show trucks and fine dining. All pictures are nice but the one in Joplin stands out to me.
Bathrooms need to be cleaned more often
Its a truck stop, where you can get diesel fuel for heavy-duty trucks. What else can I say? I had no problems.
Thank goodness for Petro! These locations are always in the right place and fuel prices are generally low in comparison to competitors. I never eat in the restaurants, but hear its good. The stores generally have a great variety of options and products for roadtrips.
Very nice place to stop and rest and to spend the night if your tired of driving. I stayed here 1 night w my my 3 dogs to rest up before driving further on. Well lit up and lots of truckers n other people. Good food too very clean
All clean throughout, managed to do the laundry and have breakfast at the same time.I do not know why the diesel is yellow just like the previous Loves I had left because of that purpose and did not fuel much.Washing machines and dryers are a quite new.Theatre is 1000 sq. (+or -).Breakfast was 6 stars at the restaurant and temperature outside is 33° while inside is 66°.There are mechanics here too but three-fouths of parking is RESERVEonly. This wraps it up.
Great, hot showers. Very clean. The only reason I didnt give this 5 stars is because theres a ridiculous amount of reserved parking. Theres probably over 100 reserved. If you dont get reserved you will be walking about half a mile to get to the store. Im disabled, all of the handicapped spots were taken, so we had no choice but to buy one.
The staff working the food counter at the fuel island are awesome. This was my first hot meal in four days.I have beeneating bologna and fast food. The pork chop dinner was delicious.Hot and fresh. The young lady with red hair was very nice and you can tell she is working very hard to put out great food and keep the place clean
Last year it wasn’t as bad as it is now.. Update.—Your employees are rude. Not much for options, unless you like a lot of junk food. Or rollers. Even that is very limited . Should have kept Iron Skillet. Almost everything is paid parking. . It’s not Like truckers don’t spend enough money here . Your prices are high, no respect For drivers. It. did look clean I guess. Won’t be back.
I will give them minus 5 stars, but is not available this option for the SERVICE DEPARTMENT.I have been there for about 5 hours including my waiting time to get in there for a flat on my trailer and at the end I have installed back my flat tire with the screw inside and driving 300 miles to some professional guys in MO.I will never stop there.I will prefer to drive on a flat tire.To make my story short I will attach some pictures and let you know that always they will want to sell you their scrappy tires.I have had a spare tire and still they didn’t want to install it .They found a POLICY COMPANY BS not to do it.We can’t find anymore professional people in this business.Everyone want to get the money doing what they want not what the customer need.
A full service truck stop. We just stopped fir gas, coffee and restroom. Restrooms were large, clean an well supplied. There was a restaurant fir dining, showers if needed, plenty of merchandise to make most any trip more enjoyable.
Way over priced, pay to stay. $50 a day if you dont eat out of your truck. At the rate there going it will be 100% pay to stay by next spring. Good food, clean showers and safe parking I just cant afford Petro but one time a trip. Sorry Petro I like you but you have priced me out.
The perfect place for a pit stop or to call it a night when being on the road. It has everything a traveler needs to buy and anything a traveler can eat.I went in for the all-you-can-eat buffet and it was delicious. The staff were very kind and helpful. I picked up a sweater and beanie on my way out. Perfect.
I had the best meal in a very long time at this iron skillet last night. It was perfect everything was great and the server Sam well she was an old school professional excellent service she always had her eye on her customers.Thank you staff and management for caring about truckers.Great Job!!!
We love the Iron Skillet restaurant so much! Theyre always clean, helpful, friendly, fresh buffet, & quick. 😃🍴 Also, our visit on Independence Day included a table right up front in honor of Fallen Soldiers. 💜🎆🇺🇸🎉🙏 God Bless America!
Restaurant is still closed. Overall cleanliness is good definitely need to remodel
This establishment is easily noticeable in traffic with clean restrooms and plenty of parking. A great place to stop, shop, eat, shower or just look around
Disappointed the restaurant was closed. Clean. Pleasant helpful folks.
Only go to fuel island. But always good about keeping it clean, coffee made, and great people behind counter. (14:30 - 16:00) maintenance guys do a good job too keeping bathroom clean and stocked!!!!
$20 for the buffet? Are you serious Petro? Plus the majority is pay to park. This is why loves is becoming the best truck stop. I need fuel and food your not getting my money anymore. Ill get both some where else. RIP Petro.
Plenty of room
