A cheery little shop right on the strip in downtown Kennebunk, the Daily Scoop also offers coffee, pastries, and homemade foods. All of their ice cream is made in their larger facility in Gray, which also boasts counter service. After strolling up and down the quaint streets in search of bargains, you can easily enjoy the ice cream that even President Bush has yet to discover from his nearby family compound.

Huge and fresh! Delicious, crispy and hot haddock sandwich on a buttery grilled Brioche Bun. Served with crispy fries and a pickle spear. Throw in a bottled soft drink, all for under $10.00! Cant wait to go back!

The pair working, I will assume father and daughter, were both very friendly and courteous not to mention professional. I tipped based on the bill before recieving food. After eating and seeing portion size, I added another few dollars. Well worth the stop. I will be visiting this hidden gem again soon.

A lovely family-run diner and ice cream parlor. The owner appears to have had extensive restaurant experience in a larger place, and it shows -- the quality of the food is definitely a notch above what you might expect from the location and atmosphere. The atmosphere is a simple but fun family diner: order at the counter, menu signs scattered around all the walls, bright colors, wooden tables. The menu is standard New England diner fare -- fried fish, clams, or shrimp; burgers; sub sandwiches; and the like. Interestingly, they seem to also offer some Asian cuisine as well -- when we were in, they had a sweet and sour pork special. We stuck with the canonical diner experience, having the fried shrimp platter and fried haddock. Im usually skeptical of deep fried shrimp -- theyre very easy to overcook and then they come out like shoe rubber. These were cooked exactly right, though -- they were tender, juicy, plump, and piping hot. The batter was light and flavorful, without being overwhelming -- a nice complement to the shrimp. Closer to the kind of batter that youd get on fish in a chip shop in the UK than most youd find in the US. The haddock was also cooked just right -- flaky and tender and lovely. I was pleasantly surprised -- its a rare diner that gets fried fish just right. We had come for the ice cream, though, and we were not disappointed. The flavor selection was great and the ice cream was high quality. Even the standard flavors, like chocolate peanut butter, had a distinctive flavor to them. And the portions were shockingly large. The mini ice creams that we all got were very large scoops -- my wife and daughter couldnt even finish theirs. I boggle to imagine what the Daily Scoop size must be.Altogether, it was a great, off-the-beaten-path eating experience. Id definitely go back again if I found myself in the area.
