After the death of my husband early this year, I wanted to find a tasteful and sturdy, gold necklace so I could wear his wedding ring as a beautiful reminder of him. I had worked with Thurber Jewelers previously to fix 10 watches I had inherited from my grandmother, and had been very pleased with the results as well as the pricing, so they were the first company I thought of. Justin helped me the first time, without my having the ring in hand.Unfortunately, the first chain broke shortly after I returned home. I live out of state. I hadnt brought my late husbands wedding ring with me from my home state, so I called to ask about a possible solution. Andi, the store manager assured me that when I came back to MN, they would help me with another choice. Ah the amazing Erik Thurber, the man who owned 3 townhomes in Cambridge Mn and was a landlord who defaulted on his loans and walked away from over $10,000 dollars in unpaid association dues, filed bankruptcy and moved on with life. Thief is what that is. I wouldnt give this guy a dime.

Great experience with Thurber! They took the time to help me customize my beautiful ring. I know nothing about jewelry and they were able to pin point what I was hoping for, all while staying inside my budget.

My wife called earlier in the day and had some questions. Due to the very kind demeanor and not rushing us off the phone, we made the decision to go there. Once my wife in I arrived, naturally we started to browse. We were not even greeted or acknowledged for close to 10 minutes. Finally, after that time, we were told someone will be with you in just a moment. Another 3-5 minutes go by, we walked out. I guess we didn’t appear to the employees to have the money to spend there. Well we went to Wedding Day in Maple Grove instead and gave them five thousand dollars of our business. We were immediately greeted on entry, acknowledged we existed, and treated impeccably by the staff. I’d give a 1 star but the phone service was good. Your a family small business that we were willing to support especially being in business for so long. To add insult to injury, we were first time customers. Due to the experience, we will not be doing business together in the future.

I went to Thurbers to talk to them about a replacement engagement ring since I had lost my diamond after 33 years of marriage. Andie took so much time to find the perfect ring that was almost exactly like my original one. I met with her three times going over options and she always made me feel like my opinions and desires were important and never made me feel like I was wasting her time. Jessica was great explaining everything that needed to be done and why, providing me an estimate on the spot. She said it would be about 14 business days to complete the work. After only about 10 business days, I received a text that my ring was done! I stopped by this morning to pick it up and Evan was so nice! Stopped in at Thurber Jewelers on 8/8/20 to look for engagement ring for my girlfriend. I walked in the door and they were busy about 7 people in the store. I brought in a gold ring with a Tigers eye stone that my Grandpa wore when I was a kid. It was left to me when he died but had to be cut off my Grandpas hand when he fell on some ice not long before he died. It had been in a box for a long time and was a little misshapen and broken when I brought it in. The associates at Thurber where very professional and the price was extremely reasonable for the repair. I brought the ring in and due to low volume of customers with the COVID-19 Pandemic I got it back in only a few days. The ring looked like new and was polished. I am very impressed with the customer service and quality of Thurber Jewelers and will bring my wedding ring back to be resized very soon.

My family is new to Elk River so I was looking for a local jeweler to rhodium plate my wedding rings. Thurber was recommended to me on the community Facebook page. I get pretty anxious leaving my rings anywhere because the diamond in my engagement ring was passed to me from my grandmother. After speaking to Jessica and letting her know my concerns, she put my mind at ease. I received excellent customer service when I arrived at the store and was able to get my rings serviced same day. I recently ordered a wedding band and paid about $800 for it. When I went to pick it up, I asked if my engagement ring could just get a quick cleaning (I had plans that evening). I would have loved to have it looking clean for the weekend. I planned on coming back to get my ring polished and have the Rhodium Plating service. Not only did the lady say she didn’t have any available time in the schedule to do the rhodium plating service any time soon, she said she didn’t have time to clean my ring that day. I’ve gone to jewelers in the past and they would always give my ring a nice, quick clean - at no cost. I would have definitely paid for the cleaning though! And I know I did not spend a whole lot on the wedding band, but I still thought she maybe would have cleaned my diamond ring.I ended up taking my rings to Wedding Day Diamonds in Maple Grove. The gentleman working there polished and did the rhodium plating on both my rings and it took about a half hour! And when I went to pay, he said “This is on us! Merry Christmas!” I insisted on paying but he said no. I will be going there from now on!I gave 2 stars because the ring I ordered came in so incredibly quickly! I ordered it and it came in 2 days later! Amazing! However, it does not match my diamond ring the way I like. But that’s my fault :( The receipt says no returns or exchanges.I orginally went to Thurber to see if they could replace 2 tiny diamonds that fell out of the prongs in my band. They gave me an estimate of $750 and told me I’d be much better off just buying a brand new wedding band at the same price. He took the time to explain the issues and I absolutely understood where he was coming from. But I called the jeweler, in Duluth, where I got the band from originally. He told me to send the band in the mail and he’d see what he could do.He fixed it and sent it back to me within a week and only charged me for shipping to send it back :(So now I have 2 weddings bands and the one from Thurber I won’t even wear. Very upsetting.I’ll be sticking with my jeweler in Duluth for my wedding band and going to Wedding Day Diamonds for other things. It’s a shame because I loved that this company was local and so close to me! But I felt like I was used just to spend money.

I had great service each time I stoped in to get my wedding ring fixed. It was originally put together poorly by a different jeweler then worn for 9 years without cleaning... it was in rough shape. They took it and made it like new in just about two weeks. It’s better looking now than it was the day I got married! No tiny detail was overlooked. Yes, it was expensive, but you get what you pay for. I am finally proud to show it off up close.

We have gone there for 20 years, I occasionally bring in my wedding rings to be cleaned and buffed, my husband bought the set there 20 yrs ago...I have NEVER been charged for a buff/ cleaning..went there yesterday and was told it would cost 50 dollars to have it done...NO WAY! My husband and I have spent alot of money there over the years and with the new people there, there is no loyalty...its a small town, they should be more concerned about that! Im done going there...
