I was helped the moment I walked in. The guy helping me was super knowledgeable about sewing machines and was able to offer multiple recommendations based on my level and needs. He sat down with me and showed me how it worked and was overall pleasant. I look forward to continuing doing business here and HIGHLY recommend it.
This is the best shop I have visited. If you are looking for a sewing machine, this is Babylock headquarters! Great selection of all things notions, patterns, embroidery and quilt. Plan to spend a few hours. You dont want to miss a thing! Great staff, very knowledgeable. Best customer service!
Excellent staff and good stock of equipment and parts. Also has cotton fabric.
Always friendly. Great selection. Very helpful.
The salesman on the phone was kind and informative. Yeeesh! $99 to look at my sewing machine and then it may cost more? Thanks Youtube! I fixed it myself. I do understand youve got to make a living!😊
Ellicott Sew-Vac is The Best!!! First, customer service is top-notch. First visit, Katelyn was very knowledgeable and detailed. She explained the machine I was interested in as well as step up and down. Second visit, I had my Brother Pacesetter sewing machine serviced. No charge for diagnostic and to fix it was extremely reasonable. My most recent visit, I purchased a new Baby Lock. I met Janet who was very informative about all the cool things I can do with this machine. I mean I was standing there with my mouth open under my mask while social distancing. Their team is just amazing!!! Professional, knowledgeable, friendly. Its an hour drive from where I live and other vendors are closer; but, the things I mentioned make it well worth the trip.
This company has an outstanding sewing machine repairman. He has fixed 4 vintage Pfaffs for me (360, 1209, 1222e, and 1471), all of which had serious repair issues. The costs were entirely reasonable. These old Pfaffs are great machines but theyre very persnickety and its hard to find a repairman with the skills to fix them. I feel very lucky to have found this excellent company.
Great place to purchase a Babylock machine! They give free new owner classes and free maintenance etc.
I bought a sewing machine after a thorough and knowledgeable orientation to the machine by a staff member. I also was happy to get the extras that came with the purchase including 10% off everything in the store and extended warranties. To top it off the staff is nice and friendly.
We have purchased sewing machines ( new and previously owned) and vacuums over many years. Great advise and customer service. We have used the repair service on a variety of makes and models. Always helpful. Check out the YouTube link for great tutorials. I rarely write reviews but they are an outstanding locally owned business.
Very pleased. Reasonable price, able to do the repairs, quick turnaround, courteous and pleasant to deal with. I had little kids in the car when I came to pick up my vacuum and they offered to bring the vacuum out to my car.
Please beware that this store does not accept returns. if you spend hundreds of dollars here and as it happens, change your mind they will not refund you your money. no 30 days to return, nothing. oh and that is only written clearly on your receipt, you know the one you get AFTER you already made your purchase that you cant return.
Very nice quilting and repair shop. I picked up my and my grammas sewing machines and the gentleman who rang me up was kind enough to take both to my vehicle for me. The price for repairs was very reasonable. After i picked up the repaired machines i wandered the quilt shop side. They had a nice variety of cotton in beautiful colors and patterns. Staff are very helpful and know the stock very well. All in all, im very happy with my experience today and will definitely be using them for future repairs.
I went to this store today based upon the great reviews I saw on here. I had plans on purchasing an embroidery machine and wanted to shop local instead of going on Amazon. Unfortunately, my experience was not good. The representative was not friendly or helpful to me. As a matter of fact, the representative had no interest in my business and did not even attempt to help me. No way will I ever spend a dime in this store. I will be sure to pass along my terrible experience to all of my many friends and family because I would not want them to spend their hard earned money there either.
My favorite store to visit. Helpful, friendly staff and beautiful ideas for my next project.
Janice and Brad and the entire staff at Ellicott City Sew Vac are knowledgeable, helpful, friendly people. Ive purchased two sewing machines from them and have been 110 percent satisfied with their machines and the service they provide. They offer wonderful classes and events that support sewists...even during the Covid restrictions they have gone above and beyond to be there for us. I HIGHLY recommend them.
As I walked in I was greeted by John he was very knowledgeable about the products and filled me in on a bunch of options so I can make an informed decision. I must say this store has lots of things and I left quickly because a storm was coming. But ill definitely be buying more and appreciate the attention given to me as a customer by quickly identifying what were my needs. Thanks a million John.
Excellent service and knowledgeable staff. Very good stock of vacuum cleaners and parts. Also sewing machines, and cloth. Is not on the second floor despite what the address says.
Fixed my vacuum quickly and at a fair price. Curbside pickup and delivery was efficient. Everyone was extremely helpful.
I purchased a Baby Lock Coronet from Sew and Vac of Ellicott City. They were so knowledgeable and helpful and willing to spend the time with me to answer many many questions before and after purchase. I even got virtual training and 1:1 pro tutorials with my purchase. The warranty service is 5 year 100%. So grateful to be connected to a stellar team that is helping me to begin my long arm journey off to a strong start. I cannot thank Brad and John enough for their Continued support. This company has an A-Team!!! Bless you all.
Very helpful team of people, knowledgeable and great customer service.
Purchased my sewing machine from here several years ago. Great selection of machine feet, fabric selection keeps getting better!
Very knowledgeable and super helpful.
Great place with knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices! Sewing, vacuum, quilting, embroidering and more - they can teach you how to do these yourself. Excellent repair technicians, quality service. Still open now during COVID, providing quality service and products in a safe environment. Note: I used to work here, still a patron.
They have the latest quilting and embroidery machines and the Customer service is super great.
Awesome store with an incredible selection of all things sewing and than some.
These guys have been there for me the entire ten years Ive lived in HoCo. They have fixed my annoying sewing machine issues multiple times. I wish I woulda skipped wrestling with my sewing machine quirks and just brought it in straight away. It would have saved me hours! Theyve also repaired my vacuum twice for very reasonable rates. The staff is great, love the classes and love just wandering in the shop. They also worked their tails off during Covid (especially the early days) trying to support the community in sewing masks for front line workers and essential businesses.
Very helpful and friendly staff. John took the time to explain my machine to me to help me get the best results and performance from it. Excellent repair service and great with customers.
The staff is kind and helpful. A treasure of a place filled with everything sewing and vacuuming!
Great selection for almost anything you need. Tools for applique, embroidery, long-arming, garment making, the list goes on. Really knowledgeable staff who can give you tons of Babylock resources. Love it and cant wait until they can hold classes again!
I was given the attention I needed to help decide what would best meet my needs. Customer service is at a premium these days as everyone goes virtual.
Shout out to a great crew!! They are safely continuing business, and their turn around time is the best. They have been nfon-stop during this insanity we are experiencing, but maintain courtesy and a positive experience. This is my new favorite sewing store!!
Love Ellicott City Sew Vac!!!! I have purchased several babylock machines over the last 15 years and have loved every one! They are experts in repairing machines and are cranking them out during this crazy time. They are always friendly and helpful with all your sewing, quilting, serving and embroidery needs!
I was visiting my sisters in the Severen area. Being an avid sewer and quilter, I wanted to check out a few stores. I found Ellicot City Sew and Vac and had the best shopping experience of my life! I was greeted by Caitlin when I walked in. Very responsive, pleasant and funny! My original plan was to just buy fabric and a few patterns. I essentially walked out with my very first Babylock!. I had been thinking of buying one for a while, but not too seriously. However, the machine I purchased was the first one I saw when I walked in and was on my wish list! Caitlin sold me the machine in a matter of minutes! No pressure. Just beautiful and sound customer service! Im am very excited about my purchase! The store is awesome and the entire staff was phenomenal! Especially, Caitlin. I will definitely patronize the store every time I visit Maryland!
Love this place. Always knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly
I called ahead of time to see if they even did repairs for my vacuum brand. I read comments of other people saying the same and the same thing happened to me where I already called them and after I had dropped off my vacuum they told me they dont do repairs for that brand. They suggested for me to go to the manufacturers website for me to replace the whole head which is $95.I was upset. My husband ordered just the hose for the bottom part for like $5 on Amazon. Mind you, Ive never taken apart a vacuum before but I was able to pick it apart and replace the hose and then put it all back together in one working piece.I went here for their expertise but it looks like if its any trouble for them to fix it theyll give you an excuse to just spend money rather than do the repair.
They have a great quality of equipment. I have never had any issues with my Vacuum. Best Vacuum Ive ever had.
I meant to write a review last week after taking my adult daughter last week. As soon as we entered we were both greeted and asked if we needed help. We were both just browsing and went our own way. The numerous salespeople checked on us occasionally and were rather engaging, truly friendly and knowledgeable. They explained different services and my daughter seemed intrigued about their summer program for her daughter who just got her first machine at 9. We both bought modest amounts of items and I totally forgot about getting a discount because I bought my machine from them, but the salesperson applied it. When we left, I felt like I just visited my best friends. Even my 31 year old daughter commented how nice the experience was. Both of us reflected how other shops are standoffish and finding help is not easy so I visited 2 other shops since and Elliott City Sew and Vac blows them away !
When I walked into Ellicott City, I was absolutely amazed!! I had not seen a store like this since I lived I in the Twin Cities in Minnesota. The range and variety of supplies, embroidery software, machines and fabrics left little to be desired. I only needed a sewing machine cord, and a 10 minute trip turned into a 45 minute trip as I wandered through the store. Sometimes a store may look great but the staff is less than friendly. That is absolutely not the case here. The young man who assisted me quite patiently answered my many questions about software, fabric and services provided by this store. He also provided a copy of their latest newsletter. The store hosts a variety of classes, from basic sewing to advanced quilting and embroidery techniques. The only downside I had about Ellicotts is that I can only visit the store when I visit my granddaughters who live in Baltimore. Those of you who are lucky enough to love the sewing/quilting arts should treat yourself to a visit to this store. It is a bit tricky to find, even if you Google it (it is tucked into a shopping center), so I would advise you to call ahead for specific instructions in finding Ellicotts. The staff will gladly give you the specifics in finding the store. Happy sewing!!
Great selection of seeing machines and vacuums. The sewing section has some unusual sewing notions. The ladies are very helpful and friendly. They offer classes.
I brought my sewing machine in for servicing and I swear it runs even better now than when I first got it! Everyone I spoke to was super nice and helpful as well :) Thank you!
Great fabric selection. Fat quarters galore unlike Joanns Fabrics. The staff is helpful and I enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the store
Fast repair and fair pricing.
Fast & Efficient Service on My Shark Vaccum
Great place for your sewing needs! They are responsive to the community needs. I consider them a local favorite.
Good, honest, knowlegable, owner, very helpful.
I have been a customer at Sew-Vac for almost 20 years. The products are top of the line. The service is the best and fastest of anywhere I have ever taken a machine. The staff is excellent. The management/owners look out for good deals for the customers. The sales and other financial benefits to customers cannot be matched anywhere. The workshops offered are great!
Store was nice, just feel they could handle customers little differently with the number of people coming in. Made me feel unwanted.
Great place. Knowledgeable staff. It is not just repairs or buying and selling. It is the most awesome quilt store in the area! Supplies and classes reasonably priced#
Very helpful. Nice job repairing sewing machine
Bought my Baby Lock here and got my vacuum fixed too. Awesome! Ive also bought various machine feet and threads. Convenient stop off vs having to trek out to Columbia to the Jo Anns. As an avid sewer, I love having this shop close by. They know the machines well.
Very knowledgeable staff, lots of choices
Very friendly on the phone and when we met them. We dropped off four sewing machines for estimates. They are fairly old and one maybe close to 100 years old.
I called earlier today and told the woman on the phone that I have a Samsung Cyclone Force - which is like a Roomba - that wont charge. She said to bring it in and said the technician would give me a free estimate.I drive 20 minutes to get there and the technician tells me he doesnt service Samsung products.I said I called first!Uh sorryHe could have at least looked at it for me. Even for like 10 minutes. So for the 40+ minutes I wasted today, heres your one star. Enjoy.
Excellent customer service...everyone working in the store was very eager to offer assistance and super friendly. Brad was able to answer software questions specific to my machine and even took the time to show me a demo of a program I am considering purchasing. Will definitely be back in the future!
I bought my sewing/embroidery machine there. For time you own your machine, they stand prepared to provide sessions to help the customer get the most out of their machine. I have made great use of this and they willingly accommodate.
Poor poor customer service my grandmother went to this store & was treated poorly about properly wearing the mask she felt targeted when her mask mistakenly came down a little off her nose while she was talking & she was talked to rudely After she spent over 100$ Yes we understand the virus is serious but it’s not what the employee said it’s how she said it unprofessional .she received Great Quality Fabric But customer service could be better
Got what i expected in GOOD CRABS.. DEFINITELY going back
This place is the greatest!!! I have been a customer for many years, and am always treated professionally. Today I took my Shark vacuum in because I tried to troubleshoot myself, and when I got down to replacing a tiny spring and latch, couldnt do it. I took it in, and the technician had it done in a flash.Thank you so much!!!
My fiancé bought a babylock serger 2 days ago. It’s a super store! Not only were they very friendly, but they also answered all my questions. I am coming to the store again today for an embroidery machine.
Somebody at this store always has the answer when you have questions. They dont try to bluff if they dont know, but get you the person who is the expert. Janice is sometimes considered rude, but it is more like she is very honest. I have had her be honest about what would be a good deal even to the detriment of her own sales. For me that honesty is important. Brad is a computer guru and always tries to help you learn the programs, etc. While they arent always the least expensive place to buy, they end up being the most reasonable over the long haul due to the free service, service after the sale and genuine desire to make you really happy with your purchase both before and after the sale. Have a number of great classes, fabrics, etc.
These are great people and very knowledgeable. They are very helpful with sewing machines, embroidery machines, and vacuum cleaners. I have bought many things from them. They have amazing deals and work with you on purchases. I would not go anywhere else for my sewing machines purchases and concerns. They are very friendly and love taking classes at their store.
First time visiting this Quilt Shop, very friendly staff and helpful. Great shop for Art Quilts.
Agree with the 4.7 rating. I would have given it a 5 if they had picked up and delivered my machine
Great baby lock dealer. Have many classes and anything you need to take a sewing/serger/embroidery/quilting class. Staff is knowledgeable and can help customers workout project problems.
GUESS MY DEFINITION OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS DIFFERENT THAN THEIRS.....NEVER AGAIN.......Traveling to Ellicott City Sew and Vac -- traffic was snarled due to accident. Called ahead to ask them to wait for us after traveling more than 2 hours, GPS said we would arrive by 4:08 today they close at 4. Their response was Absolutely Not. We wanted 2 Row by Row kits and possibly other fabric, Went to their website and found what they say about their Customer Service.....For over 20 years, Ellicott City Sew-Vac has been providing excellent customer service to sewing enthusiasts in the Greater Baltimore area and the entire tri-state region. Absolutely NOT what I consider customer service. I was willing to travel more than 2 hours, but you didnt have 8 minutes.......
My favorite place for everything Babylock! Fully stocked for sewing, quilting, embroidery and serging projects. Great classes, clubs and events. 4 stars because sometimes you must make them aware of babylock sales events on the web page and their fabric selection is not cutting edge.
They are always fair prices, and quick service when possible.
I have bought several sewing machines, 3 sergers and mini and standard vacuums. I only buy from reputable stores and proven customer service. Janice and her staff provide excellent customer service. I have been to other stores that have not earned by business. Janices appreciation of her customers is also reflected in the lessons, clubs and other fun learning activities which is why I keep going back.
What a fantastic store, I was visiting yesterday from the UK. Brad was so helpful, lots of advice and he told me about a Cotton to Cloth event they had today. I had a great time, learned lots about the Quilting and batik fabric process. The Babylock accessories, notions and fabrics at this store are so well stocked, I wish I lived nearer. Thanks for making me so welcome.
Baby Lock machines are the BEST. Demo of the newest and best sewing/embroidery machine cant be beat.I want one. Wont give up my 4 Baby Locks, just add to the lot. LOL
For sewing notions, fabric, machines, repair and classes. Vacuums too. Best store around!
Wonderful shop! Service dept was knowledgeable. It was worth the 5 hour drive from VA to bring them my machine.
Everything a quilter could want. Employees are exceptionally patient . Classes for all levels available.
The owner and staff are super helpful.
Great store and knowledgeable staff
Customer service is the best. Bright and inspiring layout.
Pat is the best. Went in to have a vacuum Repair. My dog chewed up the cord and I was on the verge of buying my fourth machine. My vacuum was repaired in 10min. Pat walked me thru the store, at the end of the month I plan to make my first sewing machine purchase. She made it look effortless and they give lessons on sewing. A bonus to a beginner like myself.
Staff provided excellent service which is great!!
The service here is AMAZING. I would not take my machines anywhere else for repair.
This review is to refute A Google Users review of Janice.Janice is blunt, she does not sugar coat which is veryrefreshing. Would you rather someone say one thing anddoes another? Do you have any idea what it take to runa successful business like Sew & Vac of Ellicott City?If she were a Man, would you still think that way?I thank Janice and the entire staff for beautiful storeto shop. Jema Park
What can I say, the staff is always so helpful and so is Brad.
Fabulous place to learn all there is on machine embroidery & software
As a Serious beginner, they guide me and ask for follow-up pics. Feels like Family
I have purchased two machines, and taken classes. I recommend to everyone looking for a great machine. Customer service and the knowledge of the staff is outstanding.
My wife loves this sewing shop. Great for quilters
Great service and value!
Great service and were able to help me with the missing part of my vacuum cleaner. Reasonable priced as well.
Friendly service, very efficient and accommodating. Fixed a vacuum that nobody else would touch and made it like new!
One of my favorite shops! EC Sew-Vac holds the BEST events in sewing! Their service department is the absolute BEST! The owners Janet and Brad work very hard for the customer. They have fabric, patterns, machines and the latest products! Where ever you are - It is worth the trip! If you are into Babylock - this is where to get it!I have read a few comments about Janice being rude - well do not mistake focused and serious for rude. There is noone more honest and hard working. She will ALWAYS give you the best service and deal! They are not out to oversell - just to make their customer satisfied. Give me tell it like it is over sweet and fake anyday!
Great service! So happy with how clean my vacuum is!
Very helpful and patient I like the store
Excellent people. Good stock. Fast service.
Super cute shop with really nice people and reasonable prices.
Brad was excellent and helped us pick out a good vacuum
Ive had nothing but great experiences here. Ive had my serger and old sewing machines serviced there, sometimes just a quick -free - look see! My old machine was hopelessly flawed and I finally purchases a Molly Baby Lok, and the staff & owner couldnt have been more helpful!! Free lessons, and service for 5 years! Should have done this years ago!! I would highly recommend this shop!
Awesome store with friendly people working there. Janice, the owner, is super!
