Was in a bind because the regular place I go to was booked for a week! I didnt even know this place existed. Was waiting for it to open and he let me in early when he got there and I was outta there in 10min! He was so nice too! My new go to place for smog checks!

Over the years I have probably taken dozens of cars to Brian for smog testing. He is always patient and professional. I recently was having some challenges with getting an older car ready to sell. The car had a check engine light come on and I took the car and got it repaired. I then wanted to have the car smogged, but the cars computer was having a difficult time resetting so that the test could be performed. Brian patiently coached me through the proper procedure to follow so that the cars computer would re-register properly. His recommendations worked and my car then passed the test. I will continue to bring all my cars to FIC Smog in the future. Thank you Brian.

A good, reliable test-only facility. In the past year Ive taken a 25 year old RV camper van and an 8 year old pick up truck there. Both times received efficient service at the quoted price.

Ive been going to Bryan for years. Hes relaxed and easy going. He gets the SMOG test done quickly and there is none of the officious business nonsense; just old school friendly, like youre family. His prices are competitive and fair (blame California for the cost of things) so I dont go anywhere else. Bryan is the go to guy!

Really as painless as it gets. Call ahead of time if possible and make an appointment. Parking is limited, and the waiting room is tiny, but cozy and clean.

Very professional, fast and efficient. Went there today and had my smog done. There in the back behind the shops off El Camino Real and plenty of parking. 2nd year in a row the guy remembered me and was very nice. Ive also referred friends there and theyve told me the same thing Im writing. Nice guy. Took my truck to another shop 2 years ago and they told me there was something wrong with it some O2 sensor or something like that and said the guy right nextdoor could fix it for me. But knowing that there was nothing wrong with my truck I wanted to get a second opinion so I took it to this guy and he said I did not need anyting and passednmy smog those other guys tried to scam me this guy is honest. probably saved me a few hundred bucks the first time because some smog places have a place that can fix your smog right next door or right down the street. everybodys always in a hurry to get there smog done because you want to get your registration but this guy is honest and he will not take advantage of you I guarantee it and hes a nice guy with good conversation. This is by far the best smog place in Encinitas/La Costa to go to. The owner is very easy going, personable, and always makes my experience hassle free. Brian and Joe are both great. They are fast and efficient and will give you recommendations for good mechanics if you need one. Theyre hidden in the back of the complex but make the journey back there worth it. They always have you in and out pretty quick so it doesnt take up much of your time

I have had my truck done there 4 or 5 times now and they have always been quick and professional. And last time my truck failed and they retested it about 4 times or see if it would pass. Cant ask for much more.

More expensive than other places at over $50. I was not warned that if my battery had recently been replaced, I had to drive my car between 50 to 100 miles in order to pass the smog test. I had just replaced my battery the day before I brought it in, so the car did not pass. They charged me $51 for that and said it would be $30 to retest once I drove my car the 50-100 miles needed to pass!Most places charge under $50 and it’s free for a retest. Total rip off.

I was able to get in easily and the test was performed on time and promptly, the staff were very helpful and everything was over with a minimum of fuss. Recommended.

I took my 4 Runner in to get smogged. I have a 94, so its a older truck so I expected it may have trouble passing smog. I drop my truck off for an hour and come back and asked the tech if it passed smog he says no. I still had to pay 60$ for nothing, due to a faulty cat. He made no attempt to help me pass or offer any solution other than next time it would be 25$ .FYI my truck past smog the previous year, so it can be done. Just not here.Client satisfaction isnt a priority here. Take your money and go elsewhere.

The owner is super easy to talk to, and runs everything very smoothly. I was checked-in, smogged, payed, and out in less that 20 minutes. And they send your results to the DMV computer for you, free! Be prepared to pay $59.75 for this quick and easy experience, unless youre smart enough to print the $10 off coupon from the homepage...oila, $49.75 and done! 4-stars was only because of the cost. The service is awesome, and worth it if youre rich.
