Even a rookie can have wonderful results with great yarns and Nancys support. Learning to knit has been fun, fun, fun, with the help of the friendly staff and patrons of Common Threads. From making the right selection of yarn, pattern, and needles to Nancys expert guidance for reading the pattern instructions and sizing, all my many projects have turned out successful. The new location has plenty of easy parking and multiple places to sit and knit with new friends. Wonderful store and service!

Common Threads has just what I love to find in a yarn shop. If a yarn shop that given up a bit of precious floor space to welcome knitters to sit down and socialize for a bit, well.....that says something about the shop to me. I love Common Threads. Excellent selection of wonderful yarn/well displayed. Easy parking. Friendly and welcoming staff with no high-pressure sales or frowns if you pick up a skein of yarn. Good selection of needles and hooks. I really, really love the pretty little patio seating area with the bright cushions/planter boxes...these are some nice people running this store. Staff has always been VERY friendly (not the case in another store nearby....) and thats everything to me.

Common threads is my go to shop for yarn and knitting advice. They have an amazing selection of colors in a good variety of yarns ranging from affordable washable yarns to fancier yarns. Seriously, their color selection is fantastic. Nancy and Greg are the friendliest shop owners i have ever met and Nancy is a wiz with any questions you may have. Nancy has helped me fix mistakes in my knitting, given me advice on what techniques to use, helped my find which yarn would be best for my project, and pretty much answered any other questions Ive had over the 3 years Ive been shopping there. And if you just want to show of your knitting there is always someone to admire your work.

This store excels at customer service! I recently called and asked if they had a yarn I had purchased over a year ago and that was a special color dye just for their store. They agreed to send me two more hanks without hesitation and the person on the phone was very pleasant to work with. Just another reason I love this store and no longer shop at the other yarn store in Encinitas where they make you feel that you are doing them a favor by visiting their store.

The yarn selection is great and they carry lots of Berroco products which are a favorite of mine. The prices seem to be the same roughly as other shops I have been to locally. On my first visit, I didnt feel very welcomed and any questions I asked were answered abruptly and did not seem to invite further conversation or questions. I was so put off by the service that I left without buying anything. I decided to give it another try few months later and the same people were working. I decided to be persistent with my needs and found the staff to respond better. I was able to find what I needed with their help. I still wouldnt say they were nice or warm like other places like needlecraft cottage, black sheep or needleworks, but they were attentive enough that I will return and purchase more. Maybe if I keep coming in to the shop they will eventually lump me in as a regular and I will be treated the same as I see them treat the knitters in the back room. I guess beginners have to work at it a bit harder;)

The staff are always so very helpful and knowledgeable. And even tho the shop is tiny, its so very cozy and has a friendly atmosphere.

This is such a wonderful, warm and friendly place . The new shop is full of light with a GREAT selections of yarns, tables to work at, several sessions each week to go in for help and a cheery outdoor patio, too.
