BEWARE! This place is unprofessional and not very educated in their field . I have a insurance claim and needed a estimate on repairs. Boats been there 4-5 months . Nothing done, refused to give estimate. John knows I work in this industry and wanted one of our fellow mechanics to come over and do work he refused to write in paper. Telling me I owe money for work I never authorized. Any work needed to be wrote up to my insurance not just done. Kept asking me what the boats value was for insurance reasons. Think he was just trying to get all the money he could . Now I have to sue to get my property back. An winters a few weeks away. An can’t get it out to get it winterized. TERRIBLE PLACE. DONT GO HERE.
The owner just wants to help people with boats. Great guy !
Ive been taking my boats to John and Linda for years. When I have new clients moving in to Erie, Pa and need a boat mechanic I send them there! Prices are always great. When I have boat issues and my kids are in town John always help me get things fix asap and gets us back on the water!
If John cant fix it, nobody can! John has restored 2 vintage outboards for me and they run like new. He now has a 3rd one from me to work on. Nice people and excellent service!
Boat service is touch and go at best. No estimate, never told the price of services until they are complete. The first time I received an invoice 3 months after the service and my boat was dirty with shoe and grease marks. I found out after the Winter storage that 5 of my life preservers were stolen during storage at this place. The second year I needed engine work and again, they refused to provide an estimate. Owner John Herr took boat in on Memorial Day never heard anything from him until Labor Day (5 months). To pick up the boat I was told to pay thousands of dollars before he would release it. After objecting I gave him a check and after making sure that the check cleared, weeks later never heard anything from him - still no boat today. This place is a sham - be careful when going here.
Very friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff! Don’t know if a better place to go for vintage outboard parts.
Not very perfacinal kept my boat all season motor dont run as good as it did when heStarted working on it be warned dont takeYour boat to john
My first time dealing with John and Shawn and I can tell you one thing these boys will not give you a bad deal. Whoever that was that said John was very rude you must act like a know it all. This ole boy knows his stuff and wouldn’t let anyone walk out his door with a bum deal. My son and I met with him yesterday
Prices were right and very helpful
Great marine store.

Horrible customer service. Wouldnt even schedule appointment. Rude people with no desire to help. Should close their doors. Dont do business here.
I would echo the earlier review. Be careful when doing business here.
He does not give you a straight answer on what somethings going to cost
Cant talk to owner ever,,...women in shop says hes too busy to talk to anyone I wont go back..
Got a boat from grandfather and dropped it off in the spring to be looked over and any maintenance done. Called several times to check on progress, didnt get it back till fall and the only thing that was done was the spark plugs were changed. Guy was very rude and unhelpful. Dont go here for maintenance!
I am prior service they where vary disrespectful and rude poor customer service I would never go there again
