Such a cute little place. The employees are always really lovely and try to make you feel comfortable. The hot chocolate and coffee (what I always buy) are great, and they offer most snacks and drinks that you can think of. They even some essentials like shampoo and lotion. Everything is kept nice and cool, so no matter how hot it is outside youll never walk out with a dripping popsicle or a completely melted candy bar.

Bought a 6-pack of Corona beer today and the cashier charged me a couple extra bucks, saying that beers imported from Mexico are being charged more now.Thats the first time Ive EVER heard that.

I bought a steer at the San Diego County Fair and had it wrapped here. Very fair pricing and expert wrap.

Awesome Place!! As a recent transplant to CA from Ohio, it was great to be advised of this amazing Specialty Meats Market. It is fairly simple to find ground ham back home (largely influenced by our Amish population), but it is next to impossible to find that here... until now. I was advised to go to this butcher shop and request it and I am SO glad I did. Their customer service was amazing and - for a minimal cost - they ground up their ham for me to make ham loaf with. The quality of their meat is far superior than anything else Ive seen since moving here and I plan to become a regular. They have earned this Buckeyes business!! Thanks!!!

This Escondido landmark has been serving the area for several generations. The facilities are spartan with the meat processing kitchen taking up the major part of the space. The phot pastrami that I ordered from the deli was good, not great. Service was ok but lacked the warmth one would hope for at a locally operated place. Some of this may have been due to Corona strain. Overall, an acceptable service experience.

Great sandwiches to go. Looks like they have a smoker and they also sell specialty meats. I purchased a couple of packages of Italian sausages.

HOT DOG!!!! Thats a good hotdog come and get it folks the fries super tasty they have much more the place smells fantastic.

They lost a customer today.On my way in, in the parking lot, the check out clerk was helping a customer load meat into his truck. The customer wasnt wearing a mask; the clerk had hers below her chin. By the front door, a huge poster required everyone to wear masks. Inside, the butcher at work in the meat department had his mask dangling from one ear. The third employee I saw had no mask at all.I get it. Masks are inconvenient. But if employees are willing to risk my safety where I can see them, Im not going to assume they follow the rules for my safety when I cant. Do they use soap when they wash their hands? Might seem like an imposition. Do they throw away meat when it accidentally gets left out overnight? What they dont know about cant hurt them.The last thing I want to be thinking about when someone makes me a sandwich is how sick I could get from eating it.

I like their selection of meats, plus they carry suasage casing. Just in case, if you want to make sausage at home.

I love this place, Ill always got out of my way to support local people and their breakfast burritos are pretty good.

Specialty meats is able to smoke and process meat bought from Agriculture students. The cuts are expertly made, the marinades are delicious, and their Country and Italian pork sausage is amazing!!!

Guys are awesome. Came to my house for my pig and we’re gone in under 40min. Meat was packaged and labeled very nicely. Everything was done in a fashionable time meat was smoked butchered and back home in no time. Service was impeccable very nice people here I would recommend this place to all I know.Thank you bob and crew you guys are awesome.

I love this local market. The whole chickens are a great price and the different marinade flavors are divine. I buy all kinds of meat from here but recently discovered their produce is fabulous. The deli sandwiches are awesome too. Writing this makes me hungry! Im going there now!

We visit Escondido regularly to see family and have passed by this market many times without checking it out. Today, we finally stopped in. What a nice find. A real butcher shop and deli with a small but sufficient grocery section. We got a pulled pork sandwich which comes with a side of coleslaw and a pickle spear. Dixon Lake is nearby, so this market is the perfect place to get lunch to enjoy at the lake. We also bought a Santa Maria seasoned chicken breast to take home and grill. There is a large selection of meats with different seasonings and marinades. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be shopping here again.

I just got 2 meatball subs and pastrami sandwich . It wasn’t good the bill came to 28.00. I didn’t want my husband to know that I just wasted money on a lunch we weren’t able to eat. I tried to give it to the dogs but they didn’t want it either. My advice is don’t waste your time, throw $25.00 in the trash and wait for dinner.

Cant say enough about this place. Best meats in Escondido and its definitely competitive for the best in San Diego. If they dont have it, they can probably get it.Besides their great meat, their deli is awesome to. Sandwiches are crazy good. Need something else for that barbeque? They have any of the spices, veggies, mixes or liquids you need to grill. Beer and wine, but no liquor.No question, this is my #1 butcher market.

This was first time having a cow processed here. The meat and packaging may be great but the customer service was AWFUL!! How are you going to tell us to hurry up and pay you because you have things to do. I have questions about pricing, etc...and Im paying over $500 so you should be capable of 5 minutes and if not get someone else. Dont worry we wont be wasting any more of your time by processing here.

My Grandpa used to take me here a couple times when I was a kid, back when it was Wimpn Rods Ahh the memories.

After you have the pork chops they sell here you wont like pork chops from anywhere else. Service is not perfect, but that is not so important when getting the best food. Worth every penny.

Great friendly help, clean store super choices for meats and fair prices.My test was a .75 pound Filet Mignon which I just cooked on our Traeger grill.This steak was a $150 bargain at less than 10 % of the cost.... It was SO good, tender, flavorfull and hell yes I will be back.Thanks Speciality Meats

The husband and I decided to try our hand at raising our first pig. When it came time to slaughter, a friend recommended Specialty Meats and I gave them a call. When they got out to my ranch, they angled their truck so that it blocked the view of them doing the deed from the house, which I thought was extremely considerate. I mean, if I had small children in the house I definitely wouldnt want them to be able to look out the window and see what they were doing to our (not so little) piggy. They got it done rather quickly, within 30 mins or so. They asked us how we wanted the meat, and walked us thru how they process it to ensure we got just what we wanted how we wanted it. How many Pork Chops per package? How thick do we want our Bacon? Do we want the Hams smoked? Halfed or Quartered? etc... Which was awesome because we had no idea how the process went.About a week or so later we got the call that Mrs. Pigglesworth was ready to be picked up. Upon arriving at their shop in Escondido I was struck by how absolutely immaculately clean everything was. Not even a smudge on the glass of their meat cases. I would actually consider eating off the floor. No joke, thats how clean it was. They served me promptly, pulled out my meat, all 5 milk crates full and even allowed me to use their dolly to cart it out to my car. The store has other things, a small mom and pop grocery store complete with alcohol if thats your thing.All in all, from start to finish, Specialty Meats made this first experience in pig farming as easy and simple as possible. They were friendly, courteous and did I mention how clean they were??!? I will absolutely be dealing with them from now on. Top notch people. Give them a shot, even if its just to go pick up a pound of ground chuck.
