First time visiting and we were happily impressed! From the second you walk in to the second you leave everyone is friendly. You feel like family and not just a customer.The diner is super clean and has an inviting atmosphere. The menu is huge! The food is delicious and prepared as ordered. Everything was hot and fresh. The portions are very large so bring your appetite. The prices are awesome.We will be back!
This diner has a really diverse selection of food which I, personally believe would satisfy most anyones taste. The diner is clean and the help is super friendly. I enjoyed my visit to the Essex Diner! Try this place out... I bet you will like it!
We are regulars at the Diner. Love the food. Wait times depend on what day and time you go for dine in. We generally only have 2 waitresses who seat us. We went on Sunday morning. Took some time to get our food, but for the time we went that is normal.
Food was great. Ordered Burger fries medium well and omelette pancakes. Cooked perfect both items. Impressed. Michelle is the best waitress there. So happy and a pleasure always ask for her 😉 everytime I go she is a saint and attentive no matter your race. Vs her others (waitresses) I came across just tend to focus on the non black customers and give all the attention elsewheren and give you minimal attention. Take a class from Michelle on manners.

THIS little diner is THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!! Best kept secret in town! The food, the staff, the atmosphere is worthy of 5 stars.This particular visit, I ordered the stuffed shrimp and once again they did not disappoint. Seasoning was on point, portion size was on point! Everything was delicious! I could eat here every night of the week.
Two for breakfast. Place was busy. Greeted fast and kindly by fella that could have been the owner. Seated quickly and order taken. Waitress was obviously spread thin. Order was prepared ok. Nothing to complain about but nothing to suprise us either. Waitress was super nice and very attentive.Worst part was being seated under a fly trap, and being buzzed by one relentless extra diner the entire breakfast. We would eat here again. Diner food, busy local spot.. .you know what you are getting.

I just moved back to Essex after 30 yrs and this is the 1st place I came to eat as I was just finishing up moving in, the waitresses are SO AWESOME!!! They definitely treat you like YOUR a part of their family!!! I usually get an omelet which is delicious! And they have the BEST and I do mean the BEST chicken soup and chicken and dumplins!! If you havent tried the food here its a must try! You will just LoVE the food and you will definitely LOVE the kindness and awesomeness of the waitresses!! Cant wait to get back up there for more chicken and dumplins!!

Dont go there often but whenever Im in the area I definitely stop in. They have really good food, plus the quantity is amazing. Its hard to find a place that has good food with good amounts also. Prices arent that bad either. The waitresses are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend stopping in if youre in Essex.

I was invited to eat here by a family member. They work nearby. So we and had quick fast service. We had the Senior menu Spaghetti with meatballs. It was hearty with meat sauce and came with a couple of large6r meatballs. With soup or salad & choice of Tea or Coffee. The price was reasonable. I had a bowl ofMaryland crab soup & paid just an extra dollars & some. Not bad. It a small diner with good service.
Talked with manager and they were very decent. I need to eat here again and hopefully get the same amazing absolutely outstanding incredible item I got before.
Theres something proud, lovable and right about neighborhood diners that arent pretending to be multistate franchises. Where the person who takes your order is frequently the same person who makes it. Where you see the owner come in for his cup of coffee and greet the regulars by name. A feeling that no matter what, as long as little communities like this persist, its all going to be ok.
Its okay, some dishes are really good, some not so much. Breakfast items are usually always good but expensive for breakfast imo.

Seated and provided menus then left for 10 minutes with no one else approaching for a drink order or anything. Poor service on a first impression so table of four just walked out and no one cares to address is on the way out even. BYE!

I love the Essex Maryland diner, mostly because it is family owned, and they treat me better than family. The food is so good no matter what I order. Breakfast is the best, lunch is spectacular and dinner is bountiful served at the right temperature seasoned well. The service is the best Ive ever had. This diner serves tasty classic diner breakfasts. We had a fluffy omelette and cream chipped beef. Service was pleasant-our server accidentally gave us the wrong dish, but quickly corrected it. The restaurant itself was littered, outside and inside and was in need of cleaning. Still a good experience overall.

The food was pretty good. The wait for a table was ridiculously long. But we had 6 in our party, so we waited. My first time there, but my companions have been before.The biggest issue for me was how long the food took to arrive. By then most of the crowd had cleared out so the wait should not have been quite so long. The service was nice. Friendly atmosphere. Nice portions too!

Menu items arent the same as what you get ordered a nine egg omelette got maybe a 3 egg omelette and paid 16$ for it bad service couldnt recommend it at all will never go back

Oddly enough, I used to live just around the corner from the Essex Diner and never stepped foot in the place. Years later I decided to stop by for breakfast on a Tuesday morning around 10:00 AM. I was pretty shocked to see how packed the place was for a weekday. I opted to sit at the counter as I usually do at diners when Im by myself. I had a great view of the cook working his magic on the grill. Place is clean and the staff is very friendly and engaging. I ordered the Essex Diner breakfast. That included two eggs (mine were over easy)three strips of bacon, a sausage link, homefries, two pancakes and toast. ($9.95) Everything was right on par with taste and portion sizes. I enjoyed myself so much, I returned the next day for lunch. Best bacon cheddar soup ever along with an egg salad sandwich on toast with chips, a pickle and really good coleslaw. I enjoyed that so much, I returned again today and got the corned beef and cabbage special. Delicious!! While sitting at the counter you get to see all the dishes that are made. I am going to return for that colossal BLT I saw them plate. Probably tomorrow for lunch!!
