I stopped by Exotic Antiques to look at some rugs and spent over an hour chatting with the lovely owner Reza. He is a wealth of knowledge with a beautiful collection of very high quality + unique Persian rugs. I might have found my forever rug man! Also Reza owns a construction business that I will likely utilize to remodel parts of my home..he has done over 700 houses in the area. On my way out Reza showed me the honey he collects from honeybees he raises. It was delicious and of very high quality. That alone is one reason I’ll be coming back

I had a wonderful experience at La Maison/Exotic Rugs. Reza, the proprietor is a veritable walking encyclopedia of Classic Oriental rugs and carpets. He is friendly, witty, and a wonderful resource. As for the shop, he may have one of the most extensive collections Ive seen in the Chicago area- something for every taste, preference and price point. I have real interest in these objects, and he answered all my questions patiently and with real insight form someone who truly loves the items he is offering. I bought Indian Mahal that I really like, and he was great to deal with from start to finish. Sure to be back in the future, as I know that Im being dealt with honestly.

I had been looking for a raspberry, vintage oriental rug for years and finally found an exceptional rug with Reza. Place is infected with bed bugs. People found bed bugs in the room above the rug store (owned by the store owner) and nothing has been done professionaly to eradicate them.I suggest you avoid this place if you dont want to be infected in your own place by bringing some rugs back.

We, in two occasions, had Exotic Rugs wash and clean our carpets. Their work was spotless. Our rugs were shining coming back. Not only they washed our rugs to perfection, they went beyond that and even trimmed some loose straws. We recently purchased a rug from Reza at Exotic Rug in Evanston and had a great experience. I stopped into the store by chance one day and was impressed by the sheer amount of stock Reza keeps. I gave Reza an idea of my budget, preference in colors, and size and he took into account the colors I described that were already present in my home to make further suggestions that I should also consider. He offered to send out a team that week to try out a few rugs in my home and it was really helpful to see them in our space. One in particular was exactly what I was looking for but slightly out of our budget. Reza went back to his inventory and found a similar pattern with the same colors but within our budget and we purchased it. He even let us take home a couple of other rugs to try out in another room and then picked those up from our house when we decided they wouldnt work. We found he had a great selection, knowledge of the history of the rugs, and was accommodating to our schedules.

As the proud owners of several fine Persian rugs, with Reza’s guidance and patience, we recently purchased a runner from him. At the time of purchase, we were thrilled with the visual appeal, craftsmanship, and the purchase price. However, several months later he remembered a previous conversation that we had regarding color scheme and pattern. He listens to what you have to say, and in our many visits he has knowledge of what we own, and retains the information for future suggestions. Wed gotten several rugs in Istanbul last year, and working with him reminded me of that experience: someone who loves the works hes a steward of, enjoys talking about them and their pedigree, wants to make sure they find a nice home, and does all of this over a glass of tea if youre willing to put the time in.
