*EDIT* I originally gave a 5-Star rating but have changed it to a three because I have had some unpleasant experiences during subsequent visits. I initially felt comfortable and well-treated when I shopped here. That is why it is so unfortunate that not all the staff are equally adept at serving their customers. I will no longer shop at this location after several visits during which I felt ignored, belittled and profiled.This is a very good option for supporting small business in the Exeter area as it is comprehensively stocked and centrally located. They are able to provide everything one would find at the big box stores only its a more hometown feel. Like I said its well stocked, organized, tidy and clean. Although the aisles are narrow due to holding so much product, the lighting is adequate. The best part about going to a local hardware store is that the service is very friendly and staff is well-informed and willing to help. In a smaller setting, its possible to form a relationship with the staff so they can help you with your hardware, painting or construction projects having a sense of what appeals to you. The prices are also very reasonable. For most items its comparable to other, big name hardware stores. I bought paint for the same or less than I would have spent elsewhere. I highly recommend this location.

We had a great experience at Arjay’s! We had a camper grill that needed a repair. They brought our grill into the store and spent almost an hour with us problem solving finding just the right replacements, & helping install them. All w a smile and incredible patience! 5 Star service!

Friendly staff and a good selection of standard Ace items. A pretty decent gardening supplies area as well. Customers and staff arent required to wear masks.

You can generally find what you need. Youll see brands you buy at other hardware stores. The prices are clearly marked-up, however, sometimes by quite a bit. But Ill continue to go here for convenience. Parking is a lot structure, right outside, and can fit about 20 sedans when full. (Just to give you an idea of the size of the store.)

Outstanding customer service. Clean, well organized. Friendly staff. Visited this store, when I was at a job site, when a challenge presented itself and no tool on the truck would provide a solution. A quick Google search for nearest Hardware store lead me here. Unable to locate a tool solution I consulted with a staff member and explained the situation... In no time I was presented with not only one possible tool, but two. Even more to my delight, both tools cost less then $15. I purchased both, and was able to complete my service call with amazing results.. thank you Arjay Hardware and your entire staff.

Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Selection is broad and prices Are very competitive making a trip to a big box store obsolete. From nuts and bolts to Green Egg grills and anything in between including hard to find items can be found here. Great job keeping the product mix interesting.

This is a great Ace Hardware store!! Big, clean, and super friendly employees. I went in to have keys cut (done quickly and all work beautifully) and made a mental note that I would definitely be back. Found our new hardware store!

Great staff, always very friendly and helpful. They recognize us now that we have been homeowners for a few years in town and go here for a lot of our tools and yard supplies. Return policy is great and discounts are usually sent in the mail from the Ace Reward program. When they cant help us with something they recommend who to go to in town that can, which is a very professional thing to do. Benjamin Moore paint is sold here which my wife loves. We will be back!

A model business! They are always gracious about helping, and will spend 15 minutes or more helping a customer find a dollars worth of nuts and bolts. Theres never any waiting, they know where everything is in the store, and the checkout lines are super fast. Prices are good too. AND they donate generously to local non-profits.

You know what its a go-to place you can pretty much find almost anything you need and their friendly staff is very knowledgeable and always there to help which makes it much better than the Big Chain stores

Excellent service helped with all my needs.

Wonderful, and affordable. We are an abutting neighbor, and they are always helpful, and sometimes better prices than the big box stores. The return policy is always gracious with no arguments. If you dont have the receipt they give you a merchandise credit, and we always use it up fast.

Since I am not an expert on home repairs or the tools to do them, Im glad the employees are so helpful. And, patient with all my questions! Great local business!

This is the old time hardware store that has everything - not the homogenized selection at Home Depot. They have every bolt and screw under the sun. The garden tools section is also well stocked with quality tools.

Always ask for senior discount! . My wife and I on two occasions last week had to have our orders voided and redone.

They usually have everything you need or theyll order it for you. There all very helpful.

Incompetent cashiers.. Went to check out and the credit card reader was not working. I asked if she could input it manually and she said No we cant do that here, can you pay another way? ... Ive worked retail for years you can easily manually run a card . She was totally lost and had no idea what to do.. Told her no I dont carry cash.. Her response was Sorry . Never asked for assistance or help from the other cashiers . So lost a salesale

I love this place! The hardware selection is great. I built my race car with nuts and bolts from that place because they have absolutely everything.

Ive been going to this store for a few years and usually find the staff to be very professional. However, when I went to fill up my propane tank last night I was greeted by a very rude employee. When I pulled into the parking lot I took out my 8-month old son and the propane tank and asked the associate if he could fill up my (propane) tank. He then asked me to get back into my car and go to the other side of the building. I then said Id prefer not to as I just took my son (out of his car seat) and propane tank out of the car. He then proceeds to roll his eyes and continue on with what he was doing (moving a wheel barrel). I was extremely annoyed with his lack of professionalism and called the Manager when I got home. The manager mentioned he would talk to the employee and appreciated my feedback, but never apologized for his actions. Needless to say I wont be going back to this ACE Hardware for awhile.
