Absolutely love the beauty of wood and these bowls are very appealing. They are 30 years old and still going strong, as a woodworking myself, when they say these bowl can last for generations with proper care is nothing short of true. They definitely will either make a great gift or something family can pass on for generations. This day in age it is harder to keep a family business running, the Alaskan Bowl Company is doing it, and doing it right. They even partnered with other artisans to provide a range of other products.
This place deserves a million stars. From the moment you walk in the best customer service in the world. An amazing experience for all ages. If I had a million dollars I would spend it there. The quality, the beauty, and the workmanship of the product are top notch. I would recommend to stop here first before venturing Alaska.
Visited Fairbanks and heard about the Great Alaskan Bowl Company. Dropped in for a visit and found a treasure trove of cool products, mostly locally sourced items from Alaska. Lots of amazing bowls no doubt but also lots of syrups plus cutting boards and Christmas decorations.Warm and friendly staff ready to answer questions and provide detailed information on most products.
Amazing! So many beautiful bowls of all sizes! Could observe the areas where items are crafted, but were not working the day we were there. Did have a movie showing the process. Spent over an hour exploring the merchandise. Very pleased with their mail delivery service on the spot!
Great spot to check out for personal gifts made from quality products. They also ship. They were nothing but accommodating and Im very pleased with the purchase I made. Id highly recommend anyone who visits Fairbanks to check this place out, even if only to view the wares.
Definitely need to stop and see this place. So many neat things and it smells so good. I loved that there are windows to watch them work on the bowls even though they were only sanding the day we came in. Very nice staff as well. Gave us other local places to see and do and eat at. Which we did!!
What a great find. The Great Alaskan Bowl Company was recommended to us by our guide, Dave, from Alaskan fishing and rafting adventures. Wed asked about places he thought were really great points of interest in Fairbanks. Wow! They offer a huge selection of natural birch bowls of all sizes and shapes. You can see the shop where the bowls are made, they will custom laser engrave your purchase if youd like. They have great gift ideas. The service is truly fabulous.... Very accommodating. I highly recommend the great Alaskan Bowl Company.... Well worth the effort. We bought bowls, engraved wood planks and I found the best looking damaskas steel ulu knife Ive ever seen.
The gentleman that met us at the door was very helpful, friendly, as well as knowledgeable. Great atmosphere and excellent products.
Great place to get souvenirs. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They always have some good deals. They also have bowl making demonstrations if youre interested.
What a wonderful experience! As we were moving from Alaska back down to The Lower 48 I stopped in to grab some things for family and Im so glad I did! Several staff members helped me find exactly what I needed, they gave great suggestions, and they were mindful of my budget. When we come up to visit we will definitely shop there again!
It was so cool to watch a bowl being made from a big piece of wood! The bowls are incredible! They were just out of my price range.
What an amazing place! My husband and I visited while staying Fairbanks over the weekend. We have had a 15 inch salad bowl that was a wedding present for the last 28 years. It has made some amazing Caesar salads over the years and just gotten better with age. The one thing that I was missing was matching salad bowls and with our visit on Friday my sett is complete. I had a wonderful time talking with Emily and her family. The boys were excellent salesman offer to show us around the shop and telling us how everything worked. Fabulous experience and I will not only send everyone to visit, but will definitely be stopping by my next trip to Fairbanks!
Nice souvenier shop. Hand made in Alaska. A little pricey
The best shop we visited in Fairbanks! Super friendly staff and a HUGE variety of locally made beautiful gifts!!!!! And no need to drive out of town. You NEED to stop in!
It looks rough from the road BUT its FANTASTIC and CLEAN inside. Very interesting to watch the turning and sanding operations. Lots of great Alaskan made goods, nick nacks, souvenirs, and beautiful customizable (but pricey) bowls.
Nice place to visit. Didnt get to see any wood work being done. I think they are a little high price but they do have nice products.
They have the most wonderfully unique items! Great for gifts to anyone. The Alaskan brand candy is delicious as well.
A great place for not only beautiful wooden bowls of all sizes, but also other wonderful gifts for those on your gift list!
They did a bowl for me and it was beautiful. They did it just as I requested. It was a gift for a dear friend of mine and she loved it also.
We found this gem of a place by watching the Alaska Channel on our hotel TV. We visited and loved the wonderful creations. In speaking to the owner, we learned so much about the history and the business itself. We were also provided recommendations for restaurants as we were traveling back into Anchorage to fly home. Both were delicious! The bowl and puzzles we purchased will be a wonderful memory of our vacation to Alaska!
Excellent service, I came here with my GF we were visiting Fairbanks for the first time and decided to stop by this shop. We got a costume bowl made. Fair prices, very helpful and friendly staff. I would highly recommend if you are in the area or visiting to come shop here! I look forward to returning next time I come up here!
Unique gifts and the staff is friendly. We got watch the bowl making process and it was incredible. The bowls are amazing!
Expensive but unique gifts. Ordered a 9 inch bowl. However what I got was just shy of, 8 inches. When I picked it up it did seem smaller then the 9 inch I was looking at. The pattern in the bowl is nice and the image is easy to see
Amazing locally handcrafted goods. High quality and fair price. Definitely worth checking out - especially for tourists.
Watched a craftsman make a bowl. Very interesting!
This is a wonderful family business--they are so friendly and passionate about what they do. They make quality products and curate many other gifts from around Alaska. I am so glad we stopped in before heading home from vacation.
Fantastic selection of AK made ullu knives, bowls, and more. And the staff are extremely helpful and nice without being pushy. Definitely recommend!
A little overpriced but good quality. Found some of their stuff cheaper elsewhere
Nice selection of wares. Super friendly and helpful staff.
Friendly and attentive staff! Great place for souvenirs!
Beautifully crafted bowls and very friendly staff! Highly recommend
Beautiful bowIs!Large assortment. You can watch the craftsmen create their masterpieces. Friendly staff.
Nice and beautiful products, but way overpriced. Even for being a tourist destination, still way overpriced.
Excellent place, great staff, wonderful wood designs!
You can get something to bring back from Alaska that is really from Alaska not just Alaskan themed and imported. Not just made, but well made in Alaska.
The bowls are amazing staff was super friendly!! Unfortunately we couldnt see them making anything but got to see all the machinery. Super cool
Lots of fun things.
Very unique hand crafted bowls and more done onsite.
If I could give 100 stars I would. The customer service is next level at this beautiful family owned local Alaska business! Emily was very knowledgeable & insightful in her recommendations and you could tell her family’s business was in great hands. The quality of the wood pieces exceeded my expectations. I called ahead to let them know I was taking an Uber from downtown Fairbanks just to come see them & emily greeted me warmly & proceeded to give me a wealth of information in the local products they offered. Additionally, she stayed open late for me to shop & even waited with me for my ride to show up! I ha dus down recommend this place as a must see in Fairbanks. You won’t find better wood work or customer service.
Great collection of Alaskan products.. Pretty products but very expensive.
This place is gorgeous. The bowls and gifts are beautiful. Love that you can see where they make the bowls.
Best place in town for quality local finds!
Just bought my birch Stein tonight and have been thoroughly testing it with various alcoholic beverages and it is perfect, workers were extremely friendly and enjoyable to talk to. Will definitely be coming back to buy more!
Great service, great products, and a great experience. You cant go wrong with the Great Alaskan Bowl Company!!!
Wonderful smell of shaved wood!
Great service but not cheap
Great shop for everything local!!
A great place to visit.
Beautiful products to purchase.
Very friendly and helpful. I was able to shop local and buy a few presents to take back home.
Cool little shop where you can watch the artist craft wooden treasures on a lathe. And they make more than just bowls. Stop by, you wont regret it.
Wide variety of products. Great people.
Such a neat place to visit. Very informative and helpful. I love my bowls!
I would 100% recommend going to The Great Alaskan Bowl Company. Emily treated us with the best customer service. We will definitely be going back.
Very nice wood pieces but Very Expensive..
Beautiful products, very expensive, but worth it.
We have just received our large box shipped just last week. The package arrived safely. There was a hole in the box that concerned me but after unpacking everything we realized that everything was perfectly safe and sound.Wow. What an incredible service you offer with your shipping. Not only did everything make it safely but whoever packaged it added in extra sweet touches such as a thin ribbon around my boxes of tea. Each bowl and stand was presented and wrapped beautifully to include its own company story/product care pamphlet. All of the care for my purchases is greatly appreciated. I do feel valued as a customer and as a tourist. However, our wood oil didnt make it into the box. That was no problem for the Great Alaskan Bowl Company. They had it in the mail the next day. They were so gracious about it. Definitely a happy customer.
Beautiful hand craftsmanship
Great experience! Had exactly what I was looking for, very helpful staff both on the phone and in person. Will definitely return!
Beautiful handmade bowls made on premises. Nice people.
Bring home a bowl 🥣.
Beautiful work
Pretty cool store. If you are visiting Fairbanks this is worth a stop. A lot of cool bowels and an assortment of soaps, jellys and other Alaska stuff. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. I live in Fairbanks and will still stop in and look around from time to time.
Great place to find alaskan wooden bowls, ulu knives and much more. Purchased a birch tree bark engraved beautifully but was torn on one end. The ladies working on Saturday morning 2/15 were so helpful and gracious that they repaired the item I purchased.
Was very cool!! We got to watch them making bowls in front of us. The kids very much enjoyed watching. The man made sure to show them all the steps. We bought a wooden nativity scene and ornament.
Always a great place to find unusual items for gifts! Sales people were very helpful! They are a little bit high in prices, but you have to pay for quality.
This is one of the best gift shops in Fairbanks. All uniquely Alaskan products that can personalize in many different ways. Either through laser engraving or just the way you wrap all your choices together.
They have lost my business. No matter the excuse,....customer service lacked on so many levels. My package was returned and no phone call was made to me to let me know it was returned. Ms. Joyce, I’m sure you are a lovely woman,...however your customer service needs more polishing. It’s never ok to interrupt a customer while they are talking. You have lost my business forever!
The staff there are super friendly and helpful, they really know how to treat customers and attend to their needs as well as help them find and decide the right product for their specific needs. I highly recommend this business to anybody looking for an authentic Alaskan product that can be custom tailored for any occasion.
Very interesting place-. Not hand turned, as they were all done with machines
Birch bowls galore. If natural utensils and locally made birch wood bowls appeal to you, this is your Nirvana. You can even customize your keepsake with laser engravings.
Great service and product.
Love the bowls. Enjoyed watching the workers fashion some more! Great experience.
Definitely a must do! Items are a bit expensive but very high quality. We got to watch some bowls being made and saw some that were in progress. Great gifts
Lucky to even give them a star. The atmosphere was not a nice atmosphere. Very Unfriendly, I was being checked out and while the Asian lady was checking me out, another asian lady walked in. The cashier stop during my payment process and walked away and started to talk the 2nd ladyI stood there waiting for my reciept for my purchase. Finally, I grabbed up my bag and said, can I have my recipt. She never said thank, have a nice day... nothing!!!!The prices are EXTREMELY HIGH! I bought a butter knife made there from wood...$10.00.Buyers Beware!
Great bowls. Little pricey but well worth it
As a lifelong Alaskan I had never been to the great Alaskan bowl company. I went in to browse one day while I had time in between appointments and fell in love with all the great items. I especially love the wooden 3D puzzles. A little on the expensive side but like that its a local business and would rather support a local business than a chain store.
The bowl assemblyline cutting and finishing automation process puts the bowl price within reach of the average tourist. Lazer etching allows a tourist to walk away with a very personalized item. For me, I found the feel of the bowls rougher and their finish less refined than Im used to feeling. For the price I was expecting a slightly better quality finishing of the bowls.
Awesome place! Very friendly staff and Joyce is an awesome manager, very knowledgeable and extremely nice! Thanks for the bowl!
Gods country - Exceptional view with decent food/beer
Nice place a bit pricey
Were eating popcorn right now from a wooden bowl we purchased here about 15 years ago. The large bowl is well-seasoned and has no cracks. We love it.
Loved this facility! The Ulu demonstration was fantastic! Buy Alaskan Made!
Got to watch the Precision making of bowls from sections of trees in Alaska
Saw first hand how wood bowls were made.
Bowls and other items seemed fairly simple, and prices were outrageously high. Only carried one type of cribbage board and it was a cookie cutter design.
Nice bowls. Good quality
Wonderful visit. Well worth a stop
Interesting store, friendly staff, very pricey though
