Great store for liquor, but do not get any cigars from there either the humidor is broken or they do not know how to use it. I bought a nub there and it was dry as heck and it fell apart what I took my cutter to it

Extraordinarily wide selection of alcohol, ranging from bud light to top shelf liquor. We are especially fond of the “drink local” section where you can purchase Alaskan beers, wines, and spirits. Fair prices as well. We are especially fond of Glacier Bear Winery’s Black Currant wine.

Great selection. I was picking up a bottle of Oban ($99) as a thank you gift and had several inquiries by staff if I needed help locating anything.

I go here for one reason, the Growler Bar. Absolutely wonderful selection of beer and ales. They allow you to smell a sample so you have an idea of what you are getting beforehand. They probably have the largest selection of adult beverages in town, and they have military discounts. Drink responsibly.

I went there when I first got stationed at Ft Wainwright and got accused of stolen Valor while wearing my uniform. A man kept me from leaving the store after I purchased alcohol and asked repeatedly, Miss, did you know its illegal to wear military gear and pretend to be a soldier? I was patient trying to leave but this stranger told me, It makes us mad to see that, when I absolutely have no clue who this person is, nor if he was claiming to be a member of the military- he was just in normal everyday clothes. Have not been back since.

Really expansive selection, and I love that they have taps (many local options) to refill growlers! Great place to find small brews from the lower 48. This is where I go when I get sick of the same old and want to find something new to try. Really friendly staff too.

Matt was awesome! I wanted to try local products. Matt asked me a few questions of what I like. He put together a 6 pack of local beers for me to try. I never thought Id say this. I loved the blueberry beer! Instead of just buying a bottle of wine I ended up learning about the local breweries and buying a selection of beers instead of wine.

Only drawback is, the web said it was open but its closed and I am there. It opens at noon on Sundays.

Great selection and friendly staff. I was visiting from Denver and stopped in to grab a bottle of whiskey. An employee from Kentucky was great and knowledgeable about whiskey. Id definitely recommend coming here if you need to grab beer or liquor.

Amazing selection and staff. Came here to sample the local craft beer scene and was delighted to be able to put a custom 6pack of cold singles. Staff even helped me select my choices and offered me a glass to smell the aromas. Highly recommend.

Great prices and selection

Excellent selection of beer, wine, liquor and all of the accoutrements that go along with that. They recently started a mix and match six pack program where you can try new drinks without having by buy 6 of one kind. Unfortunately, they no longer sell gourmet meats and cheeses. Only packaged snacks like chips.

Good quick stop

My experience was that this was one of the best brown jugs in the entire state of Alaska. My negative review is how can you promote a hand crafted glacier ice beverage when we all know that every glacier is receding!? This is not Alaskan! Its capitalism at its worst. You are not concerned about your community you are only concerned about profit. Shame!

Best selection of alcoholic beverages that Ive found in Fairbanks! I enjoy beer, wine, and liquor. This place has a great selection of all three. Its the size of a supermarket. The prices arent bad and other places may beat it out from time to time with sales n such but if youre looking for a superb selection then look no farther.

So many booze options! This is my absolute favorite liquor store - not that Ive been to many, but this one beats all of them by far. They have a wide variety of EVERYTHING. Wines, beer, hard liquors, munchies, cigars, drink mixers and pre made shots - they have anything and everything you could want, need, or dream of for a party. Highly recommend the Brown Jug.

From the moment i walked in the door to the moment I left I was followed and stared at like a criminal. There is a huge selection of alcohol which is nice but the derpy employees made the experience very frustrating. One guy followed my girlfriend and I aisle to aisle whiping off the tops of bottles on the end caps to make it seem like he wasnt watching, one older lady did a walkie check to make sure she was safe before she tried to ask us if we had any questions (after we have already told her and the bottle whiper who is staring into my eyes that we just want to look around) as another way to follow us, and the register people literally locked the exit because they thought I was going to run out with something. I will never go back here simply because the employees are aweful and have no knowledge of proper business ediquette.

For Alaska they got the most selection of beers, liquors, wines and pre-mixed drinks. Great stop for a good night out and they usually have in what Im looking for, or can get it quick for me. Friendly service, and some of the people there you would think are drinking connoisseurs and definitely are.

So the bad...with plentiful choices on tap, but no on-site tasting allowed, unless you know what you want, your growler will get filled with an unknown mysterious drink (if you never had before). The good, with the selection of beers, wines, and spirits, it’ll provide any enthusiast an ample supply of great choices!

Nothing bad about this place. The wide aisles are easy to maneuver, whatever I have been wanting to find, I have found it. They fill growlers. The staff is always above and beyond helpful. This is a happy place :)

Disappointing relative to its promise, this large beer, wine, liquor, and tobacco store has an impressive selection (especially for Fairbanks) but once inside ... it seems a little off. Prices arent competitive with Fred Meyers or Safeway, and aside from a few high-end bottles of liquor, theres not a compelling reason to stop by. The beer selection seems terrific, but again, prices, and one wonders how long the bottles have been sitting unrefrigerated on the shelves. I feel like a lot of the bombers have probably been there since the store opened. But I could be wrong.

Passed through this summer on a 7 week 13,000 mile road trip from Florida and was floored by the selection. So much so I left my debit card. As I stuffed the cooler a caring cashier walked it out saving me a major inconvenience. Thanks for the hospitality it did not go unappreciated!

Great selection of wines and spirits.

First Impressions are Everything. This place seem really awesome but on my first trip there I just stopped by to pick up some limes. 1. they were frozen and when I reported it they did no seem to care. 2. When I went to pay for the limes the clerk asked for my ID which I provided, not sure why I needed it to purchase a non alcoholic item but I was happy to comply. The clerk noted my ID was expired and refused to sell me the frozen limes. It was a terrible first impression, take care of your clients word of mouth is important in a small town!!

Went to buy wine for Christmas. The person in the wine department was really nice and we got 5 good bottles. There was a sign that said buy six bottles of wine and get 10% off and the employee reminded us of that. It sounded like a good idea so we picked out a 6th bottle. We go the register to pay for our $90 of wine and there is no discount. We ask the employee at the register and he gets the manager. Manager tells us we dont get the discount because one bottle was on sale for $1 off. Every other store (Gavoras, Fred Meyer, ect.) Has a similar 10% off for six bottle and would apply that no matter if a bottle is on sale. Also since like a sixth of the bottle are on sale at any given time they expect this to happen to you, which is extremely scamy. Long story short bought an extra bottle of wine saved $1 costing me $9. Ill go else where for my wine next time. Merry Christmas.

Great selection of beverages not offered in the local grocery stores. Its kind of like Liquor Barn in Kentucky minus the Liquor Barns awesome food and party supply section.

Fantastic selection and prices comparable to or better than other places in town. I would give their stock and prices 5 stars, and service 3. All employees have been great that Ive encountered but maybe they should hire some more - looooong lines every time Ive gone! Regardless of time of day, there never seems to be enough cashiers.

Im now a big fan of the Stone Brewery Wootstout!! I discovered this fine summer seasonal here having never even heard of it before. Not only is it nearly impossible to find at other places around the country... but Brown Jug actually kept a keg of it reserved to tap into one year later! These guys know what theyre doing here and I really appreciate the passion they have for their craft and industry. I been all over the US and abroad... you wont find a better liquor store anywhere. My first time in there was a few weeks after my 21st birthday, and we knew exactly what we wanted. We also grabbed some $1 malt drinks (which were delicious), and headed to checkout.There werent many employees around, but no one hassled us, and we were in and out within five minutes. I didnt catch the young lady working the register, but she was very kind and quick.

Over 30 beers on tap, most are local Alaskan favs. That bring said, if you are a booze hound from the lower 48 then this place is the pit stop.you have been yearning for. Im not sure if there is a concoction they dont have. Check out is a breeze and they high five you on the way out the door (jk) on the high five.

The first and only time I went into the Brown Jug was when I was 17 years old. I did not realize that you are not supposed to even be the property of a liquor store until you are 21 years of age. I was treated very harshly. Brown Jug called the police and tried to get me arrested. The police explained over and over how I had not committed a crime. And how simply saying please step outside would have been sufficient. We do not want these kind of people in Fairbanks!

Lets start out with the store and selection.... awesome selection especially for being way up here in northern Alaska in Fairbanks. I am a military retiree and Scotch Drinker and cigar smoker I have been up here for two weeks on business and every evening I have brought a cigar or two and four bottles of Scotch. I even made my dreams come true and bought a $167 bottle of 17 year old Balvenie to enjoy with my fellow co-worker contractors. Only today I am so frustrated I could literally choke somebody. I walked in and walked by a cashier while she was helping someone and gave the signal of smoking and said cigar key while I wait at the humidor in the store. After five people were helped and nobody looked back at me and said just a minute coming... I walked out.! I was so upset also being it was my last day of work in town and I wanted to sit back and just relax... I figured buying that much scotch and cigars daily I would have no problem. So I went back after I put my food on the grill at the hotel directly behind it Candlewood Suites and went to the lady and stood at her counter ...and when she said may I help you ....I said cigar... She then tried to explain how if there are people in her line she has to take them and dont make signals at her etc etc ....and I immediately tactfully without getting angry said NO.. there was one person in the line and the large line had not started yet... and I stood there and watched five people walk by.... she explained if I want to come in tomorrow and talk to the manager I said no Im talking to you. I give my 100% honest reviews online. So the store is awesome for liquor beer and even limited cigars selections however customer service with this one cashier was horrible!!! it would make me honestly if I saw her in line I will go to the next one and wait ....talk to your people Brown Jug.... if you ask who she is she is the skinny young one with short black hair she knows who she is. I am a black man and never once said anything regarding my race or why I was not being helped Etc ....so please fix your customer service issue just because you are an awesome store doesnt always mean you have awesome people working your registers
