If I could rate College Rd Fairbanks, Ak with a zero I would. We were charged for an insurance we told them we did not want.Manager, Randy, somehow was never available when I called. He refused to give me a refund, or a call back and when my husband and I went to the store at 3:30 it seems he was “out” to lunch! I finally called customer service and was given a refund immediately. By this time it wasn’t the money but the disrespect shown. Steer clear of College Rd u-haul. Although the star indicates approval it would not let me submit a review without indicating a star.
This review is for the Customer Service aspect only. Having worked for corporations before I get that there are only so many miracles that can be performed when you have close to 0% support from the main office. I ordered a tow hitch, installation, and accessory online in late April with a May 1 installation date. I dropped my car off the night before only to be called the day the installation was to take place to be told that my part wasnt in. The person I spoke to passed the blame on to someone else and said they would call when it comes in. Its almost July. My part still isnt in. I went in to get my refund yesterday. Like I said local staff is super friendly, but they really should be a bit .more proactive when it comes to communication especially if they know the last shipment before your appointment still failed to produce the item to be installed.
Bad experience . always check that everything is in order before picking up and drop off a vehicle. better look for another place to rent. This place is trash

The most unprofessional and worst customer service I’ve seen ... the supposed manager has no business being a manager. The vehicle itself was fine and price was what I expected .. I did not expect the level of unprofessionalism and how rude the manager was!
Do not bring your vehicle in to get a hitch installed by them. Was told 2hrs and I was there for over 5. Brought in a brand new 2017 Explorer and they have caused so much damage and even hot wired the harness all the way up to my battery, leaving the wire just hanging. Messed up the sensor in the bumper because the hitch is pushing up into it. Broke the clips in the trim on both sides because he removed the trim, for no reason, attempting to run wiring that way. Then half way attempted to fix it in the parking lot before we even left. Broke a bolt off the mudflap on the one side under the trim and then attempted to screw it back on. Now I have to take the vehicle to Seekins for an estimate on repairs and damages and to have the hitch removed and properly installed by a real professional. Every time Ive been in this store they have new employees. Ive rented several trailers from them over the last year when hauling wood and every time theres new people working there. The staff couldnt even properly hook up the trailers to my vehicle. Only reason I went to them was because Seekins had to order the receiver and I needed a hitch by this weekend. Uhaul was originally supposed to do it Wednesday and they called me as I was on my way telling me that they now couldnt do it. Watched a guy come in 3hrs after Id been there, upset because they told him his vehicle would be ready 2hrs ago and he was supposed to be after mine. They never even called him. Then as I was about to finally leave and had to come back in and complain about the damages a little old lady had driven back for her apt and they never called her to tell her they wouldnt be able to get hers in either. That was her 3rd trip in the last 2 days.
I went looking for heated storage and the manager got me into a unit quickly. Their prices are competitive, and this time when I went in they were having a first month free deal. Thats pretty great.This is the second time I have rented storage from this location and both experiences have been very good.
I stored my items at the Old Steese location for about 10 days. I was offered a free months rent with my truck rental. The Old Steese facility looked dumpy, it is a hodge podge of dilapidated shacks and shipping containers. The automatic security gate was open, and based on the snow pile around it, it had not moved from the open position in some time. It did not feel or look very secure. I moved in on Sunday and received a call on Wednesday that my unit had been broken into, they thought on Monday. Luckily for me it was in fact an adjacent unit, and several others that had been broken into, but my suspicions about security had been confirmed. I moved my items out as soon as I was able to arrange vehicles and assistance. Staff was friendly and helpful at every step, but security, the most basic and essential function of a storage facility, was severely lacking. The gate never moved from the open position in the time I utilized the facility. Take a look at the facility before signing a contract, and if you visit Old Steese, believe what you see!
Came in at 430 pm on October 12 2020 to have a propane tank filled. Pushed the button for service and nobody came out. Waited a few minutes and decided to go inside. Not a soul present. I waited and waited and waited. About 15 minutes of nobody showing up I decided to call the phone number seeing how maybe they will hear a ring. Nope. Decided to go back out side and walk around to find an employee. Turns out they were out back jaw jacking. I thought they were customers who had a unit but nope. Then when they decided to get back to work they came in asked what I needed they then say they needed to warm up before helping the Customer. Careless employees. Will never give another dime to this specific Uhaul
Pulled in and couldnt find parking, asked the employee where I should park and he proceeded to just tell me to move my car somewhere else. So I left.
I rented a truck from them recently and they over charged me for mileage. I did roughly 10 miles and they charged me for 29 miles! I know this is inconsistent because the receipt says that the gas tank is at 15/16 which is how I received it. I filled the truck to full even though the gas needle never dropped below the point in which I received it. I sent an email explaining the situation and have not heard back from them as of yet. I will be stopping in soon and try to reconcile the issue. I will follow up to let everyone know how it turned out.----------------UPDATE------------------So the guy who helped me with the initial rental was there today. He helped me figure out what was going on and I am getting a refund on the overcharge. Once the charge is reversed I will give a higher rating. Im just grateful he was there and wasnt an issue getting it reversed.-----------------UPDATE-------------------Everything is settled. Hope to have better transactions in the future.
Waited 15 minutes to even be acknowledged by an employee even though two other employees walked past us. The customer being helped in front of us apologized to us for taking so long even though it wasnt his fault. When we finally got helped, there was nothing but a 10foot truck available and the employee seemed like he hated his job. Ended up calling Independent rentals, they were extremely friendly and had availability
Did not have vehicle we reserved or any alternative. Were not helpful in resolving issue (just told us to try the other Uhaul in town) and line was super slow. Giant waste of time to even TRY to work with them. Why do they even take reservations??????????
Scheduled for a hitch install 3 days in advance. Arrived 15 min before the schedule appointment at 5:30pm and was turned down service because the installer was done with work for the day. Rude, rude service. Store manager should call customers and advise if there are schedule conflictions before customers arriving to the store. Many ways to fix this and I was given zero. Asked for my money back. Wont go here ever again.
Staff was friendly and helpful upon pickup. Unfortunately they sent me out with a truck that never should have left the mechanic. ~200 miles into my trip down the Parks Hwy the power steering reservoir failed pouring fluid down the outside of the radiator leaving me without adequate ability to steer or brake. Luckily I was able to nurse the vehicle to a gas station. Uhaul was helpful quick to get me towed but nonetheless this vehicle was dangerous and never should have been allowed to leave the shop. Just lucky it didnt fail in a more precarious situation otherwise things could have turned out much worse.
So the truck I reserved was not there on Saturday when I went to pick it up. I work two jobs one during the day and one during the night, so this set us back a day which half my help could not come back for. Then the next day I go in and again, my reservation was not fulfilled because somebody else had already reserved it for that day. So when the guy reserved it for me for Sunday the 25th, he was just doing it to get me out of the building basically because had he done a little looking he should have noticed it was already reserved. So I ended up with a shorter truck and less help because of it being a day late. On top of that I had to make two trips, not very pleased and I would rather use a friends truck next time I ever have to move. Nobody offered me a cheaper rate, or anything to make me happy. Very piss poor customer service and I will be posting a piss poor review elsewhere as well.Update: got a personal phone call with an apology and a promise to do better in the future. Definitely made me willing to return and give them another shot.
Ayer waiting in the store for more than 15 minutes without acknowledgement of my existence, an employee came in with a customer. Not a peep from employee. Then a few minutes later another employee who had been following multiple propane tanks for a customer came in range up the customer. This employee then skipped the next two people in line. Maybe Im crazy but what happened to first come first served.I would give less than one star but thats not an option.
Lot may be a little tight but there is always staff willing to help and are very informative. Rented multiple times from the uhauls in Fairbanks. All very helpful. Would recommend.

Significantly cheaper than my usual mechanic for hitch and trailer light controller installation, but the inexperienced technician wired the light controller incorrectly and was unable to diagnose the problem without me there.Consider doing it yourself if youre able, but dont have time.Update: Their wiring job is shorting out my turn signals after 7 months. Im not surprised. $10 for the wiring service plan is good, getting the job done somewhere else is better.
Management was horrible, and the overall experience at the location was even worse. I would NOT recommend unless you want to waste 2 hours of your day for nothing.
I dropped my car off to get a hitch installed. They told me it would take 1.5 hours. I came back 2 hours later and they had not even started. They didnt bother to call me and couldnt even finish the installation the rest of the day, despite making my reservation ahead of time. I guess when youre a monopoly, you dont have to worry about customer service.
Staff is attentive. Parking is sometimes tight, depending on the time of day and customer volume. They have on-site heated and non-heated storage, rental trucks, vans, and trailers; and a full array of U-Haul moving boxes and supplies. The manager is especially friendly and helpful.
We have been trying to get our Uhaul box for over a week, scheduled pick up times, gone to them twice and they are still never ready!! I can’t even get on the phone with a person!! What is goin on with this place?!
Went here to check on availability of trailers and to refill propane bottle. Employees were very helpful, but low rating was given do to lack of large open trailers for one way travel to lower 48. I would recommend them for refilling propane bottles and probably other rentals.
The General Manager and her A team were up to the task of helping with a cross country move. Summers are madness in Alaska and must be handled with patience.Stop, smell the fireweed and expect to be taken care of.
I received the wrong truck, with out pads or a dolly. They told me that dollys dont come in 15 foot trucks. When I returned the truck they charged me $65 for loosing the dolly that I never received!. I have spoken with customer service over the phone, via E-mail and then went to the location to talk with the CSR in person. Everyone told me the $65 would be refunded. However, weeks later nothing has been done.

(One star because I cannot give it zero and I have successfully used OTHER Uhaul services in the past.) I placed a reservation for a truck 2 days ago, I just needed it for a few hours to move a large item. I received a confirmation email, showed up on time to pick it up and was LAUGHED at and told that I need to make reservations weeks in advance and that the website reservations were just something to get people in the door. They gave me nothing and were utterly unapologetic. I tried to complain online through their email portal and got an error message (see pic) I live-chatted an employee who referred me to the email link (see pic) I called corporate customer service and they said leave a review which I tried to do and GUESS WHAT (see pic.) Apparently the agent at the location cancelled my reservation for me so I could not leave an official UHaul review. Excruciatingly frustrating. Also at no point did anyone honor the supposed $50 credit reservation guarantee. Do NOT use this location unless (1) you plan weeks in advance, (2) you dont mind being treated like an idiot and (3) you dont intend to ask corporate UHaul for help or backup.
I have to say, if you come here for anything that has to do with interacting with an employee, prepare to be disappointed. I stopped in memorial day weekend to get some propane in the rv, and it was like entering a different dimension. Fist off the entire facility is built in a very happy manner. Maneuvering a 32 rv is not easy task, and trying to navigate this place with the haphazard placement of vehicles and trailers is like trying to play operation when you have Parkinsons. The guy filling up my propane tank was nice only after I started a conversation with him. Im sure if I didnt say anything, neither would he. Once he got my tank filled, I asked how much he put in and then went inside to pay. There were four people behind the counters; is stood there for a minute before anyone even acknowledge me. I told them how much propane I got and then proceeded to pay. Needless to say, the guy that filled the tank called in to tell them how much I got after I already paid for the gas. Thats pretty crappy communication. After the experience of dealing with a staff with little consideration for the customer, I then had the harrowing experience of trying to drive my rv out of this place. As described above, its no easy feat. I now feel fully qualifed to drive my coach anywhere because it took me 10 minutes to get out of this place. Because its cramped and laid out in a manner that isnt conducive for big vehicles. That being said, I wont be coming back here again. Im afraid that I might end up wrecking the rig in their tiny lot, and their propane is pricey. From now on Ill be heading to Eater gas on the parks highway. Their staff is friendly and the propane is cheaper.
They were helpful and had the equipment to meet my needs. The parking and loading area is very congested.

Weve rented a trailer there and a truck and dealt with the same employee there both times. He was rude and attempted to overcharge us at every turn. Very unprofessional. Would not recommend.
We reserved a trailer online, when we showed up on the date that we reserved it they had none. And as usual with every single person in a customer service business in Fairbanks they were rude and unhelpful. When we asked why they didnt inform us as soon as they realized they wouldnt have the trailer that we reserved they pretty much blew us off and told us to come back in two days. I would never take my business there ever again (which thank God Im leaving and never have too)
The owner has no signage to remind customers about inputting passcode before opening unit. The Alarms are constant and of a noise level damaging to ears! Really, put some reminders up before were all deaf. OSHA?
