Troy and his amazing team never gave up on the mysterious check tire pressure light. They were professional, knowledgeable, and HONEST with me throughout the entire process. I asked Troy to inspect a 78 380 SL Benz which I was considering buying. He provided a quick review of the car and recommended certain repairs. I was going to buy the car and request that he do the work - likely well over 5K. He, however cautioned me not to do so as the parts were either slow to obtain or impossible to obtain. His integrity save me a heart ache and cost him a profitable job. You cannot readily get this sense of honesty and responsibility today. I heartily recommend this business.

After waiting several weeks to hear from the dealer about my car that would not run, I finally Towed it to Fairfax auto repair. there I had an engine diagnostic done. They told me that my timing belt had broken and needed to be replaced. They gave me several options each of which was several $1000 less than the dealer was asking. Due to the age of the car I declined the repair and decided to give it to charity. I asked them to hold the car until I contacted the charity to have it towed away. they were very generous and waited to hear from me until I contacted the charity. During this time they they removed the plates and anything else I needed from the car and wait for the charity to pick it up which was approximately 2 weeks . when I finally arrived to retrieve my tags and property, there was a very nice young gentleman there who help me with all of this. If the car was newer, it was 14 years old at the time, I probably would have had the work done, but due to its age I decided not to. Fairfax auto repair was very patient and generous in their help they offered me 2 options each of which was less than the dealer quotes. If I had known about them beforehand I probably wouldnt have been in this situation in the first place.

I cant say enough about the friendly excellent coatomer service that Troy and your team in the office extended to me. I did not have a ride home and they drove me home. After the service, which was wonderful and has my 16 year old car feeling almost like new, Troy called to see if I was pleased with the results. I soon realized that merely flushing the fuel tank, which had been done before I purchased the car, was not going to solve the sputtering problem.Troy, the office manager, went the extra mile to secure a new fuel tank. For once in a long time I have found a auto repair that was like my hometown back in the day. They were honest and very professional. The dealer told me that I needed to reseal my transfer case due to a leak and replace my rear windshield motor. They found that the transfer case was not leaking but the rear motor did need replacing. They even offered me a discount due to that fact that I am a nurse and thanked me for my service. This is the kind of customer service I grew up with and I find lacking in today’s America.

That is a long time to tie up a repair shop’s floor/parking space. I have been using Fairfax Auto Repair for quite some time. They have done regular maintenance and fixed issues with several cars I have owned over the years. That list includes a Nissan Altima, Jeep Wrangler, VW GTI and Acura RDX. I just had them do the yearly maintenance on my VW GTI which included the DSG transmission service. Im always happy with their work, professionalism, and competitive pricing.

As always, Fairfax Auto Repair was prompt and professional with my brake adjustment and air cabin filter replacement. They always do good work, and if there are several items that need fixing, they are very good about prioritizing services; this allows me to take care of the more crucial repairs but not break the bank on things that can wait a bit. My sister turned me on to them when I moved to Fairfax a few years ago, and I cannot recommend them enough!!

We have been going to Fairfax Auto Repair for years. They were honest, prices fair, and did a good job.We recently took our minivan in for a repair. It was making a ticking sound in the AC unit.They did an overall inspection and sited areas that needed immediate remediation. My husband had replaced some the things recently that they sited as needing repair.Furthermore- what I took to have fixed was installed incorrectly ☹ I now get no air flow from my vents.I am not sure if they changed ownership or a new manager? We never had these issues of upselling before. Also - we dealt with a different guy in the past when talking through what needed repair. Definitely not the guy we were dealing with.Anyways - we are now taking our business elsewhere after so many years with Fairfax Auto.

I have been having repair services for my Lexus with FAR for over a year. I have found their technicians to be excellent and the customer service there to be better than the dealership. Called ahead and made an appointment to drop off my car for an oil change, tire check and most importantly a state inspection. Got a quote the next day for almost $1k of work. Fernando told me I needed brakes and I told him that’s surprising, so then he said he wasn’t sure about me needing brakes - they were looking at them with a mirror because they couldn’t find my wheel lock. I said my wheel lock is in the glove box and he said no it isn’t, they checked there when they REMOVED THE GLOVE BOX TO CHECK THE AIR FILTER, which he said also needed to be replaced. At that point I said I don’t do ANY work on my car but I was curious how they’d be able to do brake work without a wheel lock and he said they would need to put new wheel locks on for an additional charge. I asked about the inspection and he said they don’t do inspections - they take the cars elsewhere - something that was not mentioned when I called to make the appointment. They’d already done the oil change so I paid for that and picked up my car. Opened my glove box, which is now BROKEN (as are a pair of sunglasses that were in there), and lo and behold! there is my wheel lock, clearly marked, in the original envelope from the manufacturer. Buyer beware.

A very nice facility and a very friendly technician oversaw my repair. Fernando was wonderful at explaining the necessary repairs and took time to answer all my questions.This place is receiving only 3 stars from me because their prices were very high. I know my vehicle pretty well and I know what parts etc cost. I’ve owned it since I was 16. I agreed to an already high price for the services I needed to put the vehicle back on the road because I didn’t have time to do them myself.After calling me back with a 50% price increase for two “unforeseen” items, I told them I could not pay any more than I already had. I paid to have the vehicle towed home and finished the work myself. I would have given them two stars for failing to put the vehicle back on the road, but they did install a few very small additional parts and didn’t charge extra for those. That did simplify the work I needed to do at home.

As a retired military aviator I have some technical skill/knowledge but I needed help with a rough misfiring BMW X5 4.4L engine (lot of complex potential causes). I took the car to Fairfax Auto Repair and they diagnosed and fixed the problem with no drama and for SIGNIFICANTLY less than I thought it would cost based on dealer estimates. The X5 literally runs smoother now than the day I acquired it from the dealer. Their costs are more than fair and reasonable, and the value and customer service is outstanding - no trying to up-sell, or throw technical jargon at the customer, just straight-forward candid assessments and honest work completed on time.I have also drop-shipped tires from Tire Rack that they installed and balanced and I am very happy with the results.It is not often you find a place, especially in the hyper-competitive car repair business that you can trust. The Fairfax Auto Repair Team has earned my trust - I will most certainly take my BMW (and Acura MDX) back there again next time I need help. They have my highest recommendation.

I really like Fairfax Auto Repair. Probably more important, they have earned my trust. They try hard, and are successful, to provide a good job. I had one experience where something went wrong, but they did everything to fix it and make it as smooth as possible for me. So even my bad experience was a good one, if that makes sense. So to me the five stars are well deserved and I will certainly stay with these guys with both of our cars. We are going too FAR now with both of our cars and we only had positive experiences so far.I have a transmission issue with my Altima. Based on FAR s research I found out that it is a common issue and Im now handling it with Nissan customer care. FAR didnt charge me anything, although they spent quite some time analyzing the problem and providing me information that was very helpful dealing with Nissan. Im thankful for that and will certainly stay a FAR customer, because I know that I will be treated fairly.

Bottom Line Upfront; I WOULD recommend Fairfax Auto Repair, and the rest is my story.Was going to Mr. Tire (Burke) and after 3 failed attempts at fixing my Highlander A/C, and a lot of money, I took it to Fairfax Auto Repair. The cost of service was what I though a bit on the high side (not over the top, and still under the dealership quote) but they came highly recommended from my FB Group. They got the car fixed, and so far so good, and COLD A/C.Second (and after) that, I took my Prius in for a wheel noise, and Oil Change. I though it needed a bearing on the Front right. After the diagnose they said it was the rear right. So they also said I needed rear brakes, (Never had that done since I owned the car because it is a Prius 150K Miles) They also talked me into Trans Oil flush. So again while I think maybe the bill was a touch on the high side, I feel confident that my repairs on BOTH cars were done right, proper, and professionally. Oh Yea, my Prius is as quiet as it was new, and that Highlander A/C is still cold.I should note that the Oil Change was around $60 for Full Synthetic, and that cost is UNDER Jiffy Lube and Valvoline. Let me also make note that the rear brakes are Bosch Brand, and those are the higher end pads, so while I mentioned they were a bit high, I know that the parts were quality.

Fairfax Auto Repair is my go to for all of my car problem and maintenance needs. They are always on time, good communicators, and I dont feel like they try to fix things that dont need fixing. I like their texting feature (easy to discuss things during the day when phone calls are not convenient) and their staff is really kind.

An honest repair place. They did not blindly go through the procedure I asked them to perform, and did a brief check up. They noticed several issues with my car right away, and clearly explained how they affected the vehicle. They took my plans for my car into account and proposed options and a clear course of action. They take their time to show you exactly what is happening with your car and recommend only the highest priority fixes for your safety and the life of the vehicle. Its a relief to have a mechanic that I trust is not going to overcharge me for unnecessary things. In fact, I drive 15 miles to see these guys, despite the fact that there are dozens of repair shops closer to me. Dont hesitate to give Fairfax Auto Repair a try.

Fairfax Auto Repair does quality work, and they are super nice people. Usually I am able to schedule appointments for service as soon as the next day, and they have worked me in when I had a major issue that needed fixing immediately.Another thing I appreciate is that they will prioritize repairs or services, letting me know what needs to be done soon and what can wait; this helps me stay on budget and keep my car in good repair.

I am very grateful that places like this still exist. I have taken my car here several times and it is always been a pleasant experience. One time, my brakes started making a loud scream. But, on the way to the shop, the noise suddenly stopped. I asked them to make sure everything was still OK since I was taking a long trip and didn’t want my brakes to fail in the Maryland/ West Virginia mountains. At most other shops I’ve been to, this would’ve been the perfect invitation to sell me a brake job. Instead, after road testing the car and looking at the brakes, they told me that they saw some mild scoring and that a rock had probably gotten caught in the brakes and subsequently fell out, and that the scoring was not enough to worry about. They didn’t charge me for the diagnosis and did not try to apply any scare tactics like I have gotten from other shops (especially about brakes). It has been around six months since then and my brakes have given me no cause for concern. At other times, they have recommended work to be done, but told me that there was no hurry — again, no scare tactics, no “I really can’t let you drive the car out of the shop”, etc that I’ve heard before from other places. I very highly recommend this shop and will be taking my car here exclusively.

Didnt talk down to me and took every opportunity to help me out with fair pricing as well. Simply put, so long as I am in the area that will continue to have my business.

A friend recommended Fairfax Auto Repair so I thought I would give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised at the friendly and honest approach they take in their dealings with customers. I dealt with Dan and Katie and they kept me informed at every step of the way as they looked over and repaired my car. They definitely went the extra mile to make me a happy customer.

These guys were so nice and helpful and they investigated my issues without just assuming the check engine light was due to the whole system being faulty. They treated me very respectfully and I really felt great about the experience.

I was taking my car to the dealership and they suggested major repairs based on a set timeline. I brought it in to Fairfax Auto Repair for a second opinion. They took a look and told me that repairs dont follow a schedule and didnt think my car needed all the repairs suggested. They explained everything well and were very courteous, I would highly recommend them.

My husband and I have used FAR for both our Acuras. Theyre very professional and Friendly. Although they stay busy, that do a good job and getting you in and out. They have a cute & quaint waiting area. They gave a 2and opinion on my car that required less work than previously quoted by Acura; they saved me thousands of dollars. We trust them with our cars.

A small auto shop with a small parking lot that is always crowded because of how good they are at fixing cars and just being honest mechanics. Best automotive shop I have found since moving to Fairfax 2 years ago.

This was my 4th visits to this shop with my two vehicles. So far so good. They continue to tend to my specific requirements for my diesel Jeep. Services are priced very competitively comparing to the other shops in the ares. So, this might as well be my to go place for most of my car care needs for both of our vehicles.

We needed the car to be done by 10:00 AM the next day as we were going out of town. FAR was busy as usual but they accommodated our request and the car was ready at 9:30. As always they do excellent work and great customer service.

Used this place for a while until they tried to charge me a absolute insane price on some work for my vehicle. Took it elsewhere and got great service and the maintenance AND paint done for half of what they wanted just to wrench on my car. I can no longer recommend anyone go here.

I’ve been coming here for years, and love the fact that I am supporting a small, local business. They always thoroughly check my BMW and give me recommendations for repair, but are always honest about what repairs need to be performed during each visit and what repairs can wait until later. Their prices are better than the dealership and I never have any issues getting an appointment.
