Save your energy and just drive 20 to 30 min. to another JCP.The store is a disaster, little selection and the customer service when you can actually find an associate....terrible. Ive never been to a JCP where an associate gets rude towards me for turning down a credit card application. Or an associate looks confused and insinuates I cant buy something if it doesnt have a tag.
Store was a little on the empty side, but they had a great selection of mens clothes.
Place is a disaster. Selection is weak, and store is a mess. The cashier took my 6 items, set 2 of them aside and gave me a total for the other 4. I told her I wanted all 6 items and at that point she explains that the other 2 items didnt have tags. I still want them. She seems to imply that there is no possible way for me to purchase them. I walk across the store and find different sizes of the 2 items so she can ring them up (which she should have done). She is confused about how I could have possibly figured this out. I worked in a JCP for 5 years, and this is the worst one I have ever been in.
They closed before their listed hours yesterday and they never answer their phones. I have called about four times now, and the phone just keeps ringing.Im giving them 3 stars back because when I went to pick up my order today, Chris was really quick and helpful. The link wouldnt open on my email so I could tell them I was there for curbside, he answered the phone and took care of it. The last time I was there a female employee brought my item out promptly as well. It just seems to be that they need to update their hours or something. If youre going to pick up a curbside pickup item, do so in the earlier hours.
Went in to buy pillows, walked the entire 2nd floor before I found a sales person, she called for mgr, bcuz she had a wait, I ended up putting my pillows back & walked out, bcuz the wait was jus to long & Im unable to stand too long. I would have been better off purchasing on line & having it delivered
Hi, I bought a short for my son few days ago. Unfortunately, it didn’t fit him. I went today to exchange it to a bigger size but the customer service lady informed me that it is not returnable. I told her no one informed me of the new company policy at the time of the purchase. She replied that she didn’t know.I asked to speak with a supervisor (Regina) who were very rude and not cooperative. She insisted that she can’t exchange it to a bigger size and that if I don’t need it, I can donate it.I am so upset with those unprofessional answers and so disappointed at JCPenny and won’t go back to their store anymore.
This store is still doing business.They still have some great sales items you never knew they had.
Huge selection for the whole family. There is clothing for all ages (babies, infants, toddlers, kids, teenagers, women including plus size, men), home section, shoes for all ages. The store has a Sephora inside it as well.You can find bedding, kitchen items, decoration etc.. pretty much everything. JCP offers coupons which can bring the prices down considerably.Plenty of parking.
Nice sale going on with great selection of Spring and Summer wear on sale.

The customer service of the return department is SPEECHLESSLY horrible and the black female manager is ridiculously unprofessional. No wonder theyre almost out of business. Its a common sense that you can check the same day card transaction even without a receipt. Its there in the system. The store has no future until they get trained and learn what professional customer service is. Even Macdonalds has better customer services.

I had the worst experience at JCPenny today. I was in queue waiting to return items. The lady at the customer service kiosk (2nd floor as you enter form inside the mall) helped a gentleman open a JCP credit card for 20 odd minutes while I waited patiently for my turn. When it was my turn, she said that they do not do returns at that kiosk and directed me to the back of the store. All the while there is a huge sign that said CUSTOMER SERVICE above her and there was no sign saying they do not do returns at that particular kiosk.The lady said “Customer service is only for those who purchase items and open credit cards”. I asked to speak to the manager multiple times and the manager was not paged. Another employee came and spoke to me but would not give me her name or designation. She said “This is your problem and you should deal with it”.JCPenny Fairoaks is systematically making the returns process inconvenient and dissuading customers from retuning items they purchase.

Clair the cashier in the women’s department was rude. I was waiting for like 15 mins plus the only one waiting that long for one other person in front of me who was questing discounts on her items. I’m up to be checked out and instead of asking how I was or if I found everything okay she pointed at the stanchion ropes and told me very sternly “next time wait in line!”. Again I was the only person there and she saw that. Someone needs to cheer up!
The piece of luggage I sought was out of stock. However, the staff was kind enough to order it and at a 30% further discount. Could not be happier.

Their curbside hours on the site is Mon-Sun 11 am to 7 pm. I checked in and waited almost 20 minutes and nobody showed up. I called the store and the lady said the curbside pick up end at 5:00 pm. You guys don’t value people’s time? Why don’t you update the site?
Definitely don’t come here for returns. They will only accept them at one random register, resulting in an annoying hunt from register to register all around the store. Once you find it, you’re rewarded with a long line and a 30-minute wait for assistance.

This JC Penney is hands down the worst. The store is super confusing and half of the employees were clueless. Lines are long and employees take forever. Online pickup is a pain. An employee named “RICHARD” was extremely unprofessional, rude and judgmental. Super disappointed.
My favorite store! I go to this JCPenney for all my clothing and makeup needs. They are always offering some form of sale and have a great clearance selection-which I love! They were even willing to price match an item I found online for afew bucks cheaper. Their makeup and perfume selections are always fantastic. I recommend this location over all the others.
While it is not really the best place to shop. JC Penny does have a good amount of formal clothes for kids that will not break your bank account. This store has the covered parking entrance which is quite convenient for mothers who have children with them while shopping and dont want to deal with in and out of the car during bad weather.
Handicap door button does not work outside the food court entrance (Pollo Pollo, Taco Bell, Sushi On).
I visited the store recently. My sister was getting married and she needed a simple yet elegant dress to change into after she was married. We found that dress and were so excited. The store is huge and offers a plethora of options. The store was kept very clean and the staff members were very pleasant. I would absolutely recommend this store for a visit.

We were here for the photography studio, which I recommend. They did a good job. While here we did a bit of shopping too. Displays were nicely organized and prices pretty easy to find. The organization of displays has not always been good when visiting previously. So this was an improvement. Not many store associates available to help, but checking out was fast. All in all, a positive shopping experience.
There was only one checkout open on the first floor and the line was too long. Not good for covid.

Not enough employees in the sales floor, i couldnt find the shoes that I was looking, there was only one employee at customer service and he was able to leave his station, however the place is clean, there options available .
The waiting time at the counters was very long. Also, according to the return policy you can return an item without a receipt but the cashier suggested a reimbursement of 10 $ for a purchase of 25! I needed a lot of effort and another cashier to get back the correct amount!
We have made a couple of orders for home delivery in the last two months. Both orders were delivered with the exception of one item in each order which was designated for store pickup...with no explanation as to why or option for mailing to our home in a separate delivery. When picking up, curbside, no one answered our phone (we were not put on hold, but waited for 15 minutes as the phone rang). This required us (high risk to Covid-19) to go into the store, which we wanted to avoid. So...a very poor experience for us. And I would add that we are very loyal customers who have always turned to JCP first to meet our household and clothing needs.
Still a great store with quality items and affordable prices.Yet the Corporation could give not one middle finger for its workers.Retail will always be about profit, not its workers.Guess thats why everyone is doing digital shopping. Brick and mortar ppl seem depressed?

This JC Penny was swamped as it was Black Friday shopping time. Despite the extremely long lines and wall to wall people, the cashier still located an employee to assist me in carrying out my oversized furniture item purchase to my car. I could never have managed myself. Was very helpful and I was able to bring home and early Christmas present I would never have done otherwise as I had no clue how I would get it outside when I was shopping alone. Thank you!!
If I could give it no stars, I would. I was there to pick up my online order, and I was told to get into the same line as the one designated for returns and exchanges. I pointed out to the clerk that the sign for online orders has an arrow facing one way and the arrow for the returns line was facing a different way. I was told that there is only one line. I then suggested that they change the signage to reflect their desire for all to be in one line. I will never try to save the $8.95 shipping fee again, and I am seriously considering putting JCP on my personal do not shop list.
Good stuff here. Its just a standard department store, but its nice to have a brick and mortar store in the area that you can get to in order to have instant access to decent clothes and other things. A lot of times the deals here are as good as you can find online, but you dont have to wait for shipping. The housewares department has good selection, and theres something nicely nostalgic about going to a store like this!!
I visited the portrait studio with my family so we could take holiday photos. The wait was long - which was somewhat expected although I had an appointment. My main issue was with the actual photo session. The photographer literally took one picture per pose with one or two exceptions, at my request, because we werent ready. Some of the poses show this was a complete rushed job. I could sense it during our session but it became more obvious after looking at our pictures. Our photographer could have done a better job of taking her time and ensuring our poses were good before snapping the shutter. I originally had an appointment at another studio and chose to come here instead. I regret that decision. I dont know if this is an issue with the studio being backed up that day, holiday stress with the photographers, a lack of care or attention to detail, training, etc. If you want a photographer to take their time and do it right, go elsewhere.

Great sale prices here but everything is really just thrown around. There is sparse amount of enployees and the employees are very rude and treat customers as if they are a bother. I limit my visits due to it being a headache to shop there.
Average selection in comparison to other department stores. I am shocked they have stayed open as long as they have because it always seems dead in here, and lately I barely even see employees.
This particular location has pleasantly surprised me on numerous occasions. The store itself was recently renovated and is very clean, with the selection itself being substantial. They seem short-staffed, there were only two associates on the floor when we visited, but that has never impacted our experience. We routinely find exactly what were after at a great price; give em a chance!
Recently we had a photo shoot in JCPenny portraits. I preferred here due to great photo deal. We got amazing family pictures. I really dont want to discuss in detail, but we got 20+ pictures(soft copies), 10 hard copies for reasonable price.Last but not the least, few snaps are at their best :)
Its a very good store. It has clothes a bit cheaper then the other places. And the store is very large. Though there is only 4 checkout desk and most of the time there not all filled up. Also the shoe selection is ok (but very inexpensive) it has the brand name shoes and all but the selection to pick from is kinda small

I never give bad reviews but the experience my aunt and I had was just terrible. Very rude clientele where “providing friendly service” seemed to be a foreign concept. Sometimes completely ignored and disregarded my aunt and I watched as the workers seemed only concerned with swiping credit cards, rather than being friendly and helpful.
I placed an order on line and had to make two trips, the item wasnt available to pickup, even when I got the notification it was and when I went to pickup my item on the second day, it was the wrong item. The customer service rep didnt let me verify the item before completing the transaction and so I wasnt able to get the original item without being told to reorder the item, the supervisor was no assistance as well. A huge inconvenience and nothing was done for someone elses mistake

In an age where Amazon is killing these places you would think they would have better service. Never anyone around to help. Its like they staff the registers only and you are on your own. Many of the kitchen items you need to guess pricing. Nothing tagged.
Literally the most laughably terrible service I have received. I have ordered things online and waited more then 2 months trying to communicate with the store to see what was going on. Finally, I was able to connect with someone who told me they never had the item in stock.... okay? I had recently visited to pick up another item from them and waited in line for over an hour to pick it up. And they lost my item again.
I love this JCpenney Store in Fair Oaks Mall. I have purchased most of my clothes here. There is a great selection for big and tall sizes and the prices are a real bargain. It has a good customer service. I have been coming to shop here for the last 15 years. Come and enjoy shopping here.
Bad experience, there sales associate, he looks like 60 years old I don’t know his name he has 0 Costomer service. He was trying to fight to me because I advice him to not to put fake sale sign on the wall . There were $3.99 sale sign I was trying to buy that but when I went to check out he said that is cost $8.99 also their was a lady manager too I thought she can help me with that but she was so rude and behaved like not a manager so I recommend there staffs need more training to provide good customer service . 12/12/17 Around 3pm..
I have always liked JCP. I have bought tons of things from them even when they struggled as a retailer. They always have unique stuff that peaks my interest and the prices are very reasonable. I recommend them especially for families. They have a broad range of school items and clothing.

They have the worst customer service ever. Every time I called no one picks up and when someone finally does they put you on on hold for more than 20 minutes! Then when I was at the store and asked for my items the lady didnt want to check the back to see if my items are there when my tracking number said it has been delivered to the store 5 days ago.They need better training and better attitude. Stay at the back of you dont want to deal with customers.
Customer service here is awful if i can give a negative 10 i will. They are just disrespectful. They need retraining especially the people in the men department and the women department. I wish i got their names. The only respectful lady helped and took over and i wish i took her name, but she is from Sudan
While the help I received at the salon was quite good, the store itself is run down, disorganized. and filthy. The floor sales associates (not the salon staff) are extremely lazy, disheveled, and unwilling to help customers. Concerned JCP is doomed to be another casualty of the online shopping competition if corporate does not clean up their stores, management, and staff.

This is the slowest customer service ever I have been in line for over 20 minutes and have not moved and the cashier refuses to call someone to help check out and there is at least ten others in this line. It’s also extremely hot in this store. There is no excuse for this line since there is several employees within site not helping customers. I’d put her name here but she has her tag covered

Some parts of this store are alright. I prefer to order items online than attempt to wade through their constantly-messy infant/toddler section. Furthermore, it does often take a while to get assistance when picking up an order and it can be a 10-15 minute process even when youre the only one in line. Theres a gentleman that works in the jewelry department who is very friendly and helpful, and he along with a manager helped me pick out a birthday gift for my husband. They were polite and had no qualms about showing me multiple pieces from the display case. That being said, some experiences Ive had here (relating to returns in one case) have been lacking in customer service. In another trip here, I asked an associate if they sold maternity clothes, and they just said no. Didnt tell me to look online, or anything. Then I spoke with another younger associate and she informed me that they no longer offer maternity in-store but to check the website. Just a few words can do wonders for customer service from the buyers point of view. i understand that working in retail sucks, but some of their employees can at least pretend that they like working there.

Had been searching for Nikes for my 10 year old granddaughter at all the top name athletic shoes stores in the mall. They either didnt have her size or they were over 100 bucks. Guess what found Nikes at JCPenney childrens shoe department under 50.00 bucks needless to say we were both happy!
Jcpenney has 80% off and 90% off some of their clothes. JCPenney has sales on Saturdays with preview days on Fridays and the sales start on Fridays at 3pm and until 1pm on Saturdays. JCPenney hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-9:30pm and Sunday 11am-7pm.

I agree with the other reviews about horrible customer service. We visited here for returns which were absolutely within policy. Three different people came and left, and one of them even didnt know how to work with the computer. The third one asked all sorts of irrelevant questions about why we bought something and then decided to return. He had a sarcastic tone and even (on purpose) left us for a few minutes to make the process lengthy. Then he came back and asked why we were returning items in VA while we lived in MD! I am never going to shop at JC Penny again!

Dont get photos done here! We reserved a time for a photo shoot. We got there 15 minutes early. They told us they were back logged with 7 families in front of us. We waited over an hour and there was still 2 families in front of us! They were taking walk-ins which made things even worse! Why set up an appointment?!? What a waste of time!
We usually enter through the JC Penney entrance. Its always kept clean and clear. I like the store as it has a lot of things to choose from. I also feel like the sale side at times has a lot of good things for grabs. I dont shop from all that they offer but mostly household items, accessories and clothes. The only thing that might help if changes is the availability of store members. Its difficult to find them. But other than that, its always been good.

Frustrating. Found what I wanted on sale, but couldnt find a cashier to pay for it. One eventually showed up, but they need to have better coverage.
My wife and I went I in to exchange two dress shirts for a different size. They didnt have the size I needed so we asked them if they could just order them and ship them to our house. They said sure, when they got done they said they needed to return my current shirts and they would reorder the new ones online. However, the would not honor the price that I bought my previous shirts at and made me pay a higher price. All in all it took three different associates and 45 minutes... Never going to JCP again.

Was quiet in Penneys but was looking for kitchen curtains, choices were limited but found a pair on sale. The salesman even provided an additional percent off of the curtains.
