I tried to buy a single string to replace one out of the set that I bought new from them and popped as I was installing it.The manager, Mike Schneeman (or something like that) told me that he did have them but he wouldnt sell me any as he rather use them for their own repairs. What a poor attitude for a salesman.I normally buy lots of products from them, as theyre pretty much the only store in the area, but I will stop supporting them and just buy my stuff online from now on. Once they stop being fast and convenient to me, well, theres no reason to keep giving them my money.
A great place to get musical instruments and related paraphernalia. Great customer service. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
Brandon is hands down the best customer service I’ve ever had. Not only did he spend hours looking into my issues on why some parts were missing from my drum set, he did it after closing hours when the lights were off and STILL found an answer. On top of that he was very enthusiastic about my new found passion in drumming which made me feel really good. Props to you Brandon, sorry this review took so long.
The store has a lot of merchandise and the staff is helpful. It was not crowded on a Thursday evening. Good prices several instruments. Definitely worth stopping by.
Drove over two hours to come to this store. When I walked in, I immediately noticed everything was very well stocked and organized. Ive been to the Rockville and Harrisburg locations, and this one had the best selection of the three. Aside from getting a new guitar, the customer service was easily the highlight of my visit. Sarah is super knowledgeable about guitars and was very attentive the entire time. She helped me choose my new Martin D-15M, and I couldnt be happier!
I want to shout out Carl that works at Guitar Center in Fairfax. He is very professional/ knowledge about the store equipment and so pleasant and helpful. I purchased my DJ controller and had to go back to get assistance with the audio. My controller was not playing any sound. I was told to bring my personal lap top up to the store. When I returned, Carl and his coworker that works in rental section took immediate action and came to my rescue. They provided 100% customer service. They went over and beyond to fix the problem, which was a cord that I needed. Please visit this location and go see Carl. He is very personable and attentive to your customer needs. And every time I shop here Carl remembers me. What a great personal touch!! Thank you so much, Carl. Youre the best. I will be back real soon.
This place is great, they have a wide variety of musical instruments and accessories available, with a very knowledgeable and helpful staff, the only reason they didnt get 5 stars was no brass or violins. Everything else though is 👍.
Scott here hooked it up. I only came in for a Djembe and ended up leaving with an amazing Pre-Owned Travel Acoustic thanks to his suggestion. I told him my unique wants and he placed me on just the right instrument. Thanks a ton for your Organic Assistance Scott👏🙌
Their guitar tech. Jesse is the real deal. I have a 72 Fender Telecaster Thin-line reissue. It is a few years old and needed the bridge replaced and complete set-up. The guy is very meticulous and went through everything leaving the guitar looking like new and I safely can say playing as good as if not better tan when I purchased it. Great Job!
Great place, but need more staff.... I always have to wait for help when I go, even if the store is not crowded....
I decided to buy a Keylab Essential 49 Universal Midi Controller here because Im interested in studying and playing around with creating music either quietly or for performance depending on my circumstances. I play the flute, the sound of which can easily pierce through sound insulation even when I play in the lowest register quietly. The service was extraordinary because they helped me evaluate the pros and cons of different hardware and software systems for my interests.
Brandon has been really helpful for my first rental at Guitar center. Nice customer service
This store has the worst service in retail. Unfortunately they are the only game in town when it comes to musical equipment. I have purchased a couple guitars here over the last 6 years. In that time, Ive never once been greeted at the door. Never once has someone asked me if Id like to try an instrument, plug in, grab something from the wall. You have to beg to get someones attention. The repair shop is a joke, basically told me to go somewhere else for a repair. I feel bad for young musicians growing up having to go here never really knowing the joy of a amazing music store. Please, buy your instrument second hand, or travel to a locally owned guitar store.
Excellent customer service. Big, beautiful and organized store. Lots of products wonderfully displayed.
They are nice here. And I appreciate them being patient when it takes me so long to decide on a guitar by trying different ones out. Still haven’t decided, and they weren’t too pushy to make a sale or disappointed I didn’t buy anything. And welcomed me to come again.
I like this place I live right around the corner so its sort of been my little what if I could have anything I wanted fantasy world and they really have an amazing selection of choices nicely paired with a diverse and knowledgeable team of professionals that have told me things in over 60 years of life on this planet didnt teach me that is Im speaking of guitars although I wouldnt be surprised if theyre full of other wonderful tidbits because like I said these are not your average Joes or Jills
You can see all music instruments, also you can test some of them as your choices favorite, also there are advisors and consultants, musical lessons are available too. I recommend you to go and visit there with your kids, make them familiar with music and encourage them to play and enjoy charming music.
Sorry but i didnt have pleasant experience with this store. I ordered guitar which was advertised with a bag. But received it with no bag. I called the store 3 times during the week after order received but failed to get any results, every time they promised to call me back with the status but never called back. So i returned the item back to GC.
I love guitar center! In my adult years, GC is what Toys R US was when I was a child. The Fairfax location’s staff, are truly cool. Not at all “too cool”. Every-time I go there, I’m never afraid to ask a them for help. They refer me to the specialist for each department, and despite how busy they may be, they spend as much time with me until I get the answer or advise I need. Only problem I have is, if if I drive by GC, I find myself drawn to it. And I have to go into the store. And it’s almost an unconscious endeavor. Kinda like in a cartoon, when Sylvester the Cat smells something good. He becomes hypnotized and floats through the air and floats right through the front door and buys a super dope guitar.
The staff is very helpful and courteous to their customers
Great store and selection. Brandon was super helpful in explaining to me the details around the different types of guitars and the differences in sound and playstyles, and he spent a lot of time showing me the different sounds as well, which really helped me decide on my next guitar.
He worked with me. Even tho the store was busy. He pointed out many good items and I love the combo I bought. I suggest that he was great man to buy from and on point
I am a local DJ and Guitar Center is a great place to deal with for gear. Got to check out the new Denon Prime DJ controller they have on display. No computer needed, just stick in your thumb and hard drives. It was a lot of fun to play with as it is very responsive! Not as heavy or large as I imagined. They also have many clearemce items on sale. A huge speaker and lighting line up.
Helpful knowledgeable staff made our experience amazing. Thanks John!!!
I have bought several guitars from them and recently I did a terrible mistake of not playing the guitar before I left the store. When I took it home it sounded terrible. I do not live close so I took it to where I get take classes to get set up. They made it better but the strings were so high the guitar was awful to play, they blamed it on a bad neck. I called Fender who told me to return it to GC and get another one. I took it back to GC and they had there guy Jesse look at it. Less than 5 minutes later awesomeness in the guitar what I expected! These guys are great. Seems they are trained to keep the life long customer and not just make a quick sale. Sorry there is to many great staff members to mention but Sarah is very helpful and Jesse the repair technician knows his stuff! Thanks you for your service.
Great place where you can find the pro level equipment that you need. Pretty knowledgeable staff, excellent spot when you need something fast
Steve was very nice and had great information on what to get.
They have several employees no one knows if you are looking for certain item... need to wait for the only super busy associate...!
Great customer service. They are ready to fill all your needs.
We have bought several guitars here. The people are friendly and treat you good no matter your level of play. We really appreciate Jesse who has set up our guitars and made repairs to one.
Ive always enjoyed spending time there. Theyve renovated and place reminds me of Circuit City from back in the day. I think it lost a little bit of its classic Guitar Center feel. That said, the layout is perhaps more welcoming than what might be been a niche in the past.
I was trying to get an electric piano for daughter to bring to school within days. Did not find many options to get the desired model online with quick shipping, but luckily over the phone, James found one at the store and kept it for few hours before my pickup. He’s a very friendly young man, and it’s nice doing business with him.
Really great experience at this guitar center. I am moving and have to bring my guitar on a plane. I was helped by Scott he was a really cool dude he did everything he could to find my case but when they didn’t have it he called another store found the case and had it waiting by name
James was super helpful and knowledgeable! He recommended the whole set of home theater and karaoke devices and gave us detailed explanation on the setup. Give a call beforehand if you want his service. He is quite busy but he tries his best to assist as much as he can.
Brandon was most helpful in my search of keyboards and helped me bring it to the car ! Appreciate it!Nice place, not too many selection on piano/keyboard music sheets. Lots on guitar music sheets !
My wife and I worked with Brandon to find a guitar that fits her frame a bit better than the dreadnought that she had been playing. I cannot say enough about how great Brandon was with us. We worked with two other guitar centers, after working with Brandon initially as there were other models that we wanted to try( he pulled the info and told us what stores had them so we could check them out) Once we decided on a model we liked we were told by both of the other locations that there werent many in the whole company, but you can call around to see if they actually have them in stock... WOW. We went back to the Fairfax location and...once again, Brandon was a true professional. Not only did HE find the guitar at another location. Brand new. In the box. But was able trade in our giant guitar, called the other store to set up the order, process it and have it shipped to our house. CORPORATE: IF YOU ARE READING THIS, GIVE THAT MAN A RAISE AND GIVE YOUR OTHER LOCATIONS SOME MUCH NEEDED CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING!
This guitar center like many immensely falls on who you speak to. I’ll give a really basic interaction.I went in to purchase guitar picks and noticed they were more expensive than usual. I looked on Guitarcenter.com and saw they were in fact a different price. A difference of I think 3 dollars. I saved about a dollar each since I was buying 3 packs. One manager was there while I was being rung up. And the GC guy called him over to do a price match. He looked at the picks, looked at the website, asked if it was a screenshot etc. here’s where it got annoying. The sale was on the “old picks” which literally looked the same. I guess they had a mildly different UPC number. So he said I should just order online. I looked at him like “dude come on.” They are the exact same picks, but was polite. And asked him why. He explained that they were just different and that was that.Anyways I just decided to be polite since I was gonna goof off there for a couple more minutes looking at the gear.Wound up finding a 1/2 size guitar for my girlfriend and myself to noodle on. Bought that, the clerk who I will edit in here once I remember correctly was a cool guy. Even showed me a gold top les Paul on clearance that was right up my alley.Anyways idiot store manager who denied a price match from GC.com is one of those people who just makes your eyes roll so hard you see your brain. Meanwhile GC guy was pretty cool and I’ll definitely say hi to him in the future.I’ll even bring my new toy I bought from Amazon to show the store manager what just having good customer service can do.See my pictures uploaded for the prices and see how little it was of a difference. I mean Im not gonna cry over 3 dollars but I am gonna wince and be petty if Im given such a poor response as go buy it onlineSee you guys soon.
Tried to get one of my guitars worked on here. Sketchy scheduling practices here. Called another store(Guitar Center also) and was taken care of immediately.
The store is an absolute ripoff. After listing a used Duo-Sonic at a ridiculously high price ($670 used), a saleswoman had told me that she could get the price to $370 YESTERDAY. After calling to check up on it today, another sales rep had said the best they could do is $560 on it. Thats insane.
Customer support and service has been above and beyond - helping me choose the correct instrument and recommendations based off of other customers input and experience. Would highly recommend.
So, what a great experience James, in Pro Audio, gave me today. I did my first time online order and that experience wss horrible. I know COVID has change things but geez...getting a pair of studio monitors was a hassle and over a month wait. One monitor was shipped to the wrong address by no fault of my own. Then after speaking with 4 people a replacement was said to be sent out but wasnt. Then, my other JBL monitor was on backorder still after already waiting a month. And I found that out later not during my purchase.I considered not purchasing from Guitar Center again due to this madness. And GC is my favorite store! But James, in Pro Audio, took care of me by recommending me the Kali Audio LP 6 monitors rather than waiting for my JBLs (bet there and they were in stock).Once I arrived at the store (he knew I was coming) he was pretty busy. I waited nearly 30 mins but he kept me in the loop as well as the other staff. So thank you James, in Pro Audio. You kept a long time customer. Fairfax, VA.
Staff was helpful and friendly. Dude was super chill and knew his stuff.
Good customer service from the people who were working there. They spent time going over questions we had and played a guitar for us to hear.
Staff is attentive, helpful, and friendly. This store also has lots of cool gear.
Nice collection of guitars. Although it expensive
The people who work here are friendly and helpful. They are easy to locate and ask questions of. There is a huge selection of electric guitars and separate rooms for acoustics and drums. There is a large selection of DJ equipment including speakers for rent. Really love this place.
Friendly knowledgeable service, great product availability.
Superior and friendly service. They also got every thing you name it for music instruments and willing to match price. Highly recommended!
Great staff and service, not a lot of guitars in stock. Had to order online.
Best guitar center in NoVa. Great selection of new and used guitars and amps. The staff in the guitar/bass up to date on modern equipment and playing styles & make great reccomendafions. They convinced me to switch from Ibanez models to a Jackson and I have not been happier. It fits my playing style so much better and I have greatly improved.
Never buy a guitar from a Guitar Center. The one that they sold had its pickups too high and was also missing a screw from the saddle like somebody just took it out. Also, the selection there is quite low, about 2/3 of a store is empty
Great experience workers were nice about giving beginner advice and ended up getting a sick electric guitar and Im content with it not too pushy on up selling either very chill friendly environment
Lizzie is a delightful and helpful person who had answers for all my questions.
Walter is the most friendly and helpful guy outhere. Great store I prefer the previous layout though.
In my mind, i was “one of those customers” bc i bought something, returned it for something else, then returned that for the original item. I had 3 different people help me each transaction thankfully, but each one was absolute top quality! Knowledgeable, super smart, encouraging and just really enjoyable to engage with. Definitely an awesome staff that’s working super hard to assist and serve us! Doesn’t matter who you get bc they are all FAN-Tastic!! Thanks Guitar Center!
Nice and complete place
Employees are very knowledgeable and if they are a slight uneasy about anything they will find someone that is..... 5 star
Went to the repair shop here to get new pickups installed. Michael got em done in record time. Wasnt in the store for even an hour and left with my bass tuned up! Quality work and quality workers in that repair shop.
They priced match the equipment that I was trying to buy with no issue.
Really bad customer service 😒
Not a bad selection, little questionable on the prices, but nice staff
I went in to sell my studio monitors and look for an upgrade. Despite being very busy and dealing with many system issues due to COVID-19, Brandon helped me out big time. He answered all my questions and was very patient and positive while fulfilling all of my requests. Its great to know I can trust these guys to do their best even in the middle of a global pandemic!
Good service but item I was looking for was low on stock and selection
Nice place. The selection was kind of thin when I went in.
Got the stuff I needed. Got the advise promptly. The staff were helpful
I received great customer service while shopping for guitars and keyboards. Relaxed atmosphere, great products.
They did not have left-handed guitars, which is what I play, but other than that it was nice. The service was incredible
I dont have anything against Guitar Center. But you know, its Guitar Center and all.
My salesman James, answered all of my questions and helped me choose the best equipment for my new music studio. A true professional.
Very nice staff. Extremely helpful.
Great variety in new and old electric and acoustic guitars. Few items can be bit expensive. Overall a great place for music lovers.
I have been shopping at Guitar Center ever since Rolls Music went out of business in Falls Church years ago. This particular location does not have a good selection of PRS guitars compared to their Seven Corners location. Also the only staff member that seems to know anything about guitars and is truly well versed in guitars is their main guitar tech guy, forgot his name. Last thing, they never have any sales, promotions or any other types of incentives on any guitars and if they claim that they do Ive never seen it. This is all pre covid-19. Now inventory in their stores is much lower which is understandable but still no sales or anything. If car dealers and other stores that sell expensive equipment can have sales, offers and promotions there should be no reason why Guitar Center cant UNLESS the company is going downhill and theyre massively in debt.
James was very helpful over the phone answering my questions regarding the recording equipment I was considering and what options were the most economical for my setup as a beginner in recording multiple instruments.
Great serivice.
Great place to pick up audio equipment. Super helpful and knowledgeable staff. Its enjoyable to browse the instruments they have on display and even try them out. I love it when I have to go to Guitar Center :)
The huge inventory makes this place a fun visit, every time. The staff sometimes suffers from teamwork issues, but from my personal experience, the management is professional and makes a true effort to provide excellent service. I recently expressed a concern to the Fairfax, VA Guitar Center management and he (Jon) reached out to me personally to remedy the issue. Guitar Center leaves me with the impression that they value their customers.
I was ready to spring for a fender bass and amp to get started. Stood around the bass guitars for 30 minutes hoping someone would come by and offer some guidance. It never came so I left. Store was not busy. Still gets 2 stars because there was a customer shredding some jazz stuff on a guitar in the store.
Good service but like many places, not a lot of stock right now. Great store.
Super helpful staff, great knowledge of contemporary products but no available parts for repairing vintage instruments (turntables).
Amazing customer service
Excellent selection and customer service
This guitar center is big enough, they have a little bit of everything (obviously a lot of guitars as always) youll probably find what youre looking for here without a problem. The staff is super friendly and theyre willing to help you find what you need and let you try anything you want. Totally recommended...
Honestly guitar center prices are not that great. Youre not going to get an amazing deal on much of anything here. However they do have an extremely wide selection which is nice. there was a guitar sales person named Lizzy who was quite helpful, and Ian the guitar tech tends to be very helpful.
James was great in helping. His knowledge and his friendlyness. Gret employee. Thanks guitar center. Dj dawraw
Really awful customer service. The staff had us stand in line outside for a long while to get in. They didn’t invite us in though others had left and they could see us waiting in the heat through the window. Once we stopped waiting and went inside of our own accord, they seemed very busy or distracted and didn’t greet us or offer to help or even to check us out though we were waiting in line and no one else was being helped. They were occupied instead with pacing and talking with one another. In the end we interrupted the conversation and asked to be checked out. Unfortunate.
Get there right at open. Line was mega long. Several people stood waiting but gave up before they could get in. They just havent gotten into a covid-19 swing if things. Definitely room for improvement as far as getting people in, assisting them, and getting them out.
Really got no assistance I needed purchasing new guitar & amp and more as gift for adult son at this store. My son is active duty military stationed overseas & was close by for training. Bought gift from here to surprise him. He ended up returning all I bought for something else at another location. Felt if I had got good customer service buying items I know nothing about my son wouldn’t have returned all of them.
Great selections...
Friendly staff! Wait times were a little long
Guitar Center is always great! The prices are excellent, the store is well organized, but it is the staff that always makes going to Guitar Center a pleasure. I mean think about it, these folks are musicians who, during their shift, get to jam. They know their products and spend quality time with every customer. Thank you guys and gals for being the best!
