Very fun course. There are some challenging holes but also plenty to score on. Very nice greens and some of the best bunkers I’ve ever seen (immaculate white sand).Older gentleman in the pro shop was pretty rude when we checked in and I got slightly over-charged ($65 was due at the course but paid $73).

Very nice course. Private course model but open to the public. Got good deal on Golfnow.com. Course is good for experts and intermediate golfers. Course was in good shape when I played. Some patchy spots on fairways but only areas where you shouldnt be. Greens in great condition, not fast but not slow. Some blind shots off the tee so use GPS or the guide book they have at the Pro Shop if first time playing. Luckily got to play with some locals and they gave me targets off the tee. Carts included but does not have gps, have to bring your own. No cart lady...or maybe cause had early tee time, didnt see. 18th hole kind of anticlimactic, its a par 3. But good vista and different way to finish a round. Great experience will come back again.

The greens were great, fun course, I highly recommend. Unless your handicap is over 18 .mine is 3 so I was able to really experience it for all it had to offer. Not a high handicap course

Course is in great shape! Tee boxes, fairways, greens all in best shape Ive ever seen them. Only complaint is it took 5hrs 10minutes to play on Sunday morning. Way too slow.

My sister had her wedding here and everything turned out so beautiful and amazing.The staff was friendly and awesome.

Clubhouse is very nice, and the staff was great. The cart girl was a kick. The course itself is not bad, but I found it almost unfair in many respects. Pretty challenging. If I lived nearby I’d probably find my way back, but it’s quite a schlep from Carlsbad. It’s worth a visit though.

Golfed here over the weekend. Course was in good shape, fairways ran quick, and the greens provided a good but fair challenge. Course is sneakily more difficult then some others in the SD area, but overall it was a great experience!

I have never golfed this course and I have to say that this is a very challenging course. There are a lot of holes that you think you should use a driver but really should use a hybrid or irons. The Marshall out front named Mike was awesome. He really is the ambassador of that course! The only disappointment was that if you book your tee time on Golf now they will not RELEASE the carts until 10 minutes prior to tee time. This is super ridiculous! What am I gonna do with the cart if I get it 45 minutes ahead? Also since they dont give the card head of time, Mike the Marshall has to pick you up and take you to the driving range which is 200-300 yards away. What a waste of the Marshalls time.

The staff was very friendly. The greens were in great shape as well as the tee boxes. The fairways were almost unplayable. You were penalized by hitting your ball in the fairway. Ill never go back even if it were free.

Great course in great shape! Greens are fast and true! Dont come here expecting some easy walk through the park type of round. This course is pretty difficult. Target golf but also has the yardage to make it fairly long.

My favorite golf course in San Diego, by far! The staff is absolutely amazing and the course is so much fun! It’s challenging but very rewarding. This course has shaped me into a better player. Absolutely love GCC!

I played a round of golf, first time at this course. Seems a little neglected but it is okay. I am not eager to return since other options are more convenient to me. I must say, I played one of the wickedest par 3s in golf (pic below). Plays more like a $40 course than a $60 course. Did not use clubhouse or any amenities. Parking was fine and the staff was courteous.

Almost broke the course record.Then started the back nine. Ouch.Still had fun.

Tough course but fun. An interesting and entertaining collection of golf holes.

When I started playing this course 3 years ago, it was headed down hill and sure to be closing soon. Every time I play here now, it is in better and better shape. The fairways and greens have made a tremendous improvement and provide a great test of golf. The roughs are a little bare, but when speaking with the staff, the roughs are next on the improvements list. Always a fun round of golf and staff is always welcoming!

This place is a joke. To start, the course is in bad shape. I understand the winter may effect the fairways and other areas, but the greens are not maintained at all. I golfed on carpet today. Im usually fine with poor fairways at this time of the year, but greens need to be in decent shape. After the round we had food from the club house. The food is terrible. The buffalo chicken wrap is just cut up chicken tenders.The one good thing about this course, is that the staff is fantastic. Extremely friendly and helpful. Great job. If only the course and food was taken care of the same way.There is a good chance I do not return to this course. There are far too many courses much closer for the same price.

Year after year the Thompson and Thompson cart girl championships are held and each year Keri wins in a landslide. The course new changes this year are turning out to be amazing. Be sure to give it a chance if you have not played it in awhile

Played golf on Sunday 3/13 great course, good spacing between tee offs. Well maintained and fun to play. Golf shop staff pleasant and friendly. Worth the price.....a hidden gem!

This was once the premier course of North County San Diego. Still beautiful venue and great golf course but the drought has definitely had a big impact on this course. Everyone should play this one at least once beautiful views Vistas and good challenging holes of golf. You should try the Chicken Chopped Salad in the dining room.

Enjoyed the drive and they honored my free round of golf on my birthday. Enjoyed the course tremendously and definitely will come back again. Wish it was close but whats90 minute drive in South Cali? Greens, fairways, and carts all in great condition. Glad to see its not a members only course.

This golf course would be even more fun if I had played it a dosen or so times. You really need to know your way to play well or even find the next hole. I liked the five sets of tees. Beautiful landscape even some fall colors. Greens were in good if not excellent condition and not the greenest time (Oct.) of year right now but very playable. Hamburger from the bar at turn was tasty. Staff and Starter were friendly. A bit expensive especially adding in cost of the lost balls.

Soon to be out of business. When a course is in bad condition, and they send email blasts and coupons to the golfing community, they had the nerve to charge over $50 for a twilight round on a weekday! GCOC staff is still under the illusion that this is a nice course, which must mean they don’t play it. I wish someone would take it over that knows what they are doing.Little advice, drop the normal rates and build your business back up or nobody will be coming back.

Great layout, but a few holes are a little tricky and some greens are very severe. But would play again for sure. Beautiful setting.

Another great course designed to test the best golfer, struggling to keep open. The average golfer will not enjoy loosing a half dozen balls and shooting over 100 (although we found just as many). Dry tight lies made things even more difficult. Beverage girl charged me $10.50 for two beers, the snack shop charged me $14.00 for the same two beers, not sure what is going on there.

We had a great time here today. The course is challenging and still alot of fun.The course was in great shape and the greens were well maintained.The 19th hole was refreshing and our server was very friendly.The pro shop staff was friendly and once they knew it was our first visit, they gave us a course guide and several tips to make our experience enjoyable.

Great course

The worst customer service I’ve ever seen from a golf course.

Course is quite challenging with a lot of areas to gobble up errant shots, especially for someone playing the course for the first time. Greens were in excellent shape and fairly fast. I little pricey for what you get, though.Would have rated higher, but for the VERY unfriendly marshal. After 13 holes, he came up to us to say we were two holes behind. We pointed out that it was a twosome in front of us, and his response was that doesnt matter. We then pointed out that no one was behind us either, and his response was, I dont care about that! The group behind us actually finished about 20 minutes behind our group.Really put a damper on an otherwise wonderful day on the course.

Played GCoC yesterday for the first time. The course is a blast to play, and I will be back. As others mentioned, the course can be tight and challenging. That being said, you can see the fairway from the tee box and the green from the fairway. The greens seemed consistent and quick compared to what I play along the coast. I lost a few balls over the course of 18 holes.As a new SoCal North County resident I dont know what good or great conditions are for the course. I only saw one water cooler on the entire course (7th hole) to refill my water bottle. I like the desert look on several of the holes.

I enjoyed this course. The fairways and greens are in good condition. The fairways are narrow, so hit it straight. I dont recommend walking, getting from one hold to the next hole is a long cart ride away. I would probably give it 5 stars, but its a little expensive and very slow paced.

Beautiful Course, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Their marshal is a real piece of work. We allowed 2 twosomes that were members to play through. The marshal came and yelled at us stating we were holding up play and that there were 7 member groups behind us. We quickly went to the next hole and felt rushed for the first 3 holes on the back nine. When we finished we decided to have lunch and wait for all the groups behind us. 1 hour went by and NOT 1 group came through. We felt harassed by this marshal because we were not members. We asked the marshal after our round about all these groups and he had nothing to say accept Im sorry if you felt I was abrasive even his apology was abrasive. Could have been a very pleasant round but we did not need to be harassed on something that was not true.

Playing this course never gets old. Tremendous fun and challenge. North Countys hidden surprise.

Im an 8 hcp, and this was a challenging course. Target golf on every hole. Tight fairways, so I left the driver in the bag on majority of holes. Greens are running about a 12 on the stimp. Greens are very hard to read. They have a decent yardage book, but still didnt help as there were no 100 yard markers. Would hit 3 very good shots on a par 5 and walk away with bogey. Oh, and if you cant put spin on your chip shots, good luck. Other than some fluffy tee boxes, overall good course.

Played 9/3/16.Overall experience was just pretty average. Greens in very poor condition. Cart died on 14th hole so had to call pro shop to have a replacement sent out. On course directional signage poor resulting in us guessing where the next tee was on occasion. When will course superintendents understand that less sand in bunkers the better .. ?? Theyre not meant to be beaches. A very slow day with no offer by the foursome in front of us to play through. Only one restroom on the course. On course drinks cart didnt take credit card and the server suggested she would need to drive back to the clubhouse to swipe it ... Go figure!! Pro shop didnt ask, rather told us another player would be in our group. I had to politely decline as my round was for business.On the good side, pro shop staff member Mark, was helpful apart from above. Mizuno rental clubs were a good set, beautiful clubhouse and setting with picturesque 18th over water, really handy course guide included free with greens fees. Quite challenging course despite the greens and bunkers.Played Arrowood GC in Oceanside a few weeks earlier and it was a far superior experience. Suggest to consider spending the extra say $10 to $20 and play there instead.
