These guys are great. We hired them to disassemble a baby grand, store it for 2 months, move it again, and reassemble it. There was a minimum time charge for the move and they were able to get things done without going over the minimum, and storage was very affordable, too. They were experienced with piano moves, careful, and a fun and friendly crew. They even did one of the moves on a holiday weekend. I will definitely be keeping them in mind next time I need storage or help moving!

My experience with Capital Cartage Moving was wonderful. From the time I setup the appointment on the phone with Mary to the time we were completely moved into our new place, I was very pleased. Donna called me the day before to make sure we had everything in order for the move; the right time, place and equipment. Randy and Derrick did a great job moving me and my boyfriend to our new place. They were efficient and took excellent care of all the large furniture. Our old apartment has some awkward doorways and they managed to move everything without a scratch. Capital Cartage came recommended to me by a friend when we were looking for a moving company to help my daughter move back from Madison. I was a little leery because of some of the reviews on here but after speaking with Mary I felt better about using Capital Cartage after she told me about the other reviews. When it was all said and done Im very happy we trusted my friend and used these guys. They were very helpful when we we getting ready to move and what I thought would be a pain in the butt turned out to be easy. A pleasant experience with a difficult move. The guys (Derrick, LG, Bryce) went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that everything was taken care of. Including getting our grand piano in (a feat in and of itself) and reassembling a tricky dining room table. Mary and company made sure that all was in order. Id recommend them!

After my recent experiencing moving with the assistance of Capital Cartage, I would never recommend or use their services again. In fact, my experience was so negative that I plan to warn others through the use of multiple forms of social media and networking opportunities as I am an active member in 5 Madison area Chambers.As a member of local Chambers and an employee of a local business, I understand the importance of using local companies but regret my decision of supporting your company due to poor service and sub-par custom service.During the move, Matt dropped one of my bedside tables, which was a piece to a full matching bedroom set, down a flight of stairs. He reacted to the destruction of my property as if it was no big deal at all and did not even stop to examine the item. When my furniture was moved into my new place, I inspected the bedside table to discover it was completely broken - none of the drawers opened, chucks of wood was broken off, and the top of the table was no longer attached to the base. Compounding the problem was the fact when the table bounced down the stairs in my house, it slammed into the front door and caused the doorknob to puncture a hole into the wall of my home.Once the moving process was over, I was assured that the broken table would be repaired or in the event that they were unable to do so the insurance coverage I purchased would cover the damages. At this time I discovered how useless the insurance was since it is calculated per pound; therefore, my table with a value of $180.00 would only result in a $6.00 payment since it weighed roughly 60 pounds.I explained to the office that I was very unhappy with the way the move went with damages to items and walls and specifically Matts performance. The response I received was: yeah, we have heard similar things about him from other movers, and this reply was not followed with a single apology or ownership of the multiple issues. He said that he would send someone to patch the hole in the way and I explicitly told him that I did not want the person to be Matt since I did not trust him in my house or near my belongings at this point. Two hours later, my phone rang, and much to my continued dismay, Matt was calling to set up a time to repair the wall in a house I no longer live in, which added an additional layer of annoyance.A week after the move, I called and spoke with another woman to reiterate my experience and frustration, which was yet again met with no ownership, acknowledgment, or a basic apology that you come to expect from anyone working in customer service. During our phone call, she informed me that the bedside table was fixed - I am still unsure why I was not contacted by them to inform me of the status - but at this point in my dealings with them it did not surprise me. I also reiterated why allowing someone into the house to repair the wall was so difficult since I no longer live in the property and it was placing me in a very awkward situation with the current homeowner.After making arrangements with the homeowner to allow the company back into the house to repair the wall, I arrived to ensure it was taken care of and I was blown away that Matt was sent for the job after I explicitly and on multiple occasions stated I refused to do any more work with this man. It took him 15. hours to patch the hole and phase 2 will be set up after it fully dries. Adding more insult to injury, the paint does not match the rest of the wall so I have to also pay for the entire entry way to be repainted.I cannot express how disappointed I am in Capital Cartage and the terrible service that I received. I hired a moving company to make my life easier and it resulted in making it so much more complicated, time consuming, and overall frustrating. I cannot believe I paid anything for this service and I plan to share this experience with every person I can to ensure that they select alternative companies.

Capital Cartage has moved both our business & our home that was 100 miles from Madison. Items were stored and were delivered in perfect condition. I would highly recommend Capital Cartage for both business & personal moves.

I was moving from Downtown Madison to a wooded lakeside in Traverse City, Michigan, and Capital Cartage made it happen smoothly and with minimal stress. Mary even came over on a Sunday morning to see what I had to move, give me an estimate, and leave me the boxes that I needed to start the process. I would recommend them to anyone!

Please do not go with this company - they are just flat out dishonest. We received a bill after we paid in full on the day of our move stating that we were not charged for renting TV boxes (35$ per box, to RENT) and for an hour of service which we assumed accounted for the 40 extra minutes it took the movers when they stopped off at a gas station and 3 smoke breaks throughout the day. We immediately called back to ask about these charges and waited for nearly a month to finally be called back by Mary who essentially said that we should be grateful that they moved our things and that they expected to get paid this extra amount that was never discussed. Mary told me that we were informed that these boxes were used - that is a lie. I, like most people, would move my own TV if I knew that it would cost me an aditional 35$ to rent a cardboard box. She also assured me that the movers would not have stopped for 40 minutes for lunch. I must have pulled a Marty McFly then and gone back to the future after watching the truck pull into a gas station and subsequently arrive at our new house 40 minutes later than we did. If you read this and think you still may give this company a shot, please reconsider what you *think* this company has going for them: -If you think They are a better value, just wait until you get that bill after the move and Mary demanding that you pay an additional 248$ to cover time the movers werent working and items that you were never told about initially. -If you think They are local and I want to support their business, I can honestly tell you that there are plenty of other local businesses I would support instead. The longer this company stays in business the longer they can steal and lie. Dont make the same mistake we did. We just moved in August and I would never use this moving company again. I truly think these people are dishonest and hope that others dont end up in our situation.

Please dont be gouged as I was. The estimated cost was far from what I was charged. They stubbornly continue to charge me twice for one month of storage, overcharged me for the movers- I paid for three when there were only two, and the weight of my belongings was far over what it could have been.I have damaged furniture and at the end many household items were just put in all the wrong rooms or left in the garage.Hey now threaten to sue me and hurt my good credit. Ive spent well over $6000 for a move a few mikes away with only 2/3 or so a household. They are terrible, and I hope this doesnt happen to anyone else.

They were quick, respectful and willing to move extra items during the allotted time frame. Weve used them twice now and have had wonderful experiences both times!

They shipped some very high end electrical test equpment that I bought at auction. It was done well. I was happy when it arrived safe and sound.

Yeah i am a very well known person that has been doing moves for all sorts of companys and the owner of this company has got to be the rudest person i have ever in my life talked to on the phone ever. i hate to be a customer of hers..... all i did was ask her a question and what i asked her was a little more important than her rushing me to get off the phone. i mean lady it isnt even lunch yet and you had the nerve to just up hang up on me.....i will be contacting the better business burro.of investigators on her...i did look in the phone book so that way she gets reported for her rude actions.... i than called her back to simply ask her if she could help me with a couple companys and she replied with um no sir we do not deal with owner/operator drivers and hung up now if that isnt rude i dont know what is........ you just did the wrong thing... and i will go further with this and i hope you make the news.... oh and just in case you did not know who i was maybe you should not hangup on loyal,honest and great people. THE OWNER OF THIS COMPANY IS THE RUDEST PERSON THAT I HAVE EVER EVEN DEALT WITH IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!! DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE SO RUDE!! Move went very well and faster than expected so that saved me $$$! Donna was very good to work with, and the guys on the truck were great. No surprises! And a lot cheaper than a couple other guys and their truck ;-)

We hired CapitalCartage to do our two-part move. We were moving from Verona WI to Birchwood WI (4 hours away). We were also moving into an apartment in Verona, which we arranged with Capital Cartage to do the following week. Mary gave us a firm quote and let me know that the quote could only go down. We were able to save some money by packing some picture boxes ourselves and not needing as many wardrobe boxes. On the day of the move, they arrived on time. The movers kept the furniture separated as to which would go to each location. We were very impressed with how careful they were with our furniture, the walls, and boxes. They kept us apprised of anything that we needed to do or know. We met them the next day in Birchwood and three of the same movers were there. We needed to move some of the furniture that was already in the house to the lower level first before bringing in anything from the truck. We had arranged with Capital Cartage ahead of time to do this, so it was in the quote. Everything was carried in from the truck carefully and placed in the correct room. We didnt experience any broken items. Two of the same movers moved our belongings into the apartment the next week. Overall: It couldnt have gone smoother. With all the various aspects to the move, there was a lot of room for error. But their experienced crew handled it easily. Every box and piece of furniture went to the correct location. All the movers were courteous, professional, and we totally enjoyed working with them. We were grateful that two of them were involved in all the moves, as they knew us and our furniture. After the final move, we were presented with a bill that was less than the written quote. We would definitely recommend Capital Cartage to our friends.

Recently i had a tough decision to make in my career. I was offered a position that would take me 168 miles away from my family and friends. The stress associated with learning a new job and making new friends can be more than one could ever anticipate. The one thing i did have going for me was the fact my company was willing to pay for my moving expenses. What I did not know was how stressfull that process can be. Most moving companies failed to take the time to explain the minor details associated with moving. Some companies wouldnt even call me back while others manipulated the costs to ensure they would get the initial bid and would later hook me for additional expenses that wouldnt be covered under current company policy. Capital Cartage went above and beyond carefully explaining the difference in an estimate and bid, took the time to ensure my needs were meet and not theirs. Capital Cartage moved my personal belongings 168 miles without incident and were extremly careful when walking through my house so that snow and ice were not tracked in my new home. My property was handled with the upmost extreme care. If I ever have to move again I will be sure to use them again.

8/24/2012Stay away! Find someone else for household items. If you have to use them, have no dealings with Larry -condescending, arrogant and does not have the customer satisfaction in mind! Damage done to items - he didnt care and would not even talk about it. He was so bad, Im in contact with Goodhouse Keeping to see what has to happen for them to forbid Capital from using their shield.

Wish I could give them zero stars. My sister had an absolutely horrible experience with this moving company. Gave a verbal quote over the phone then charged over DOUBLE for the moving cost. The movers loaded the truck and then proceeded to charge extra money to unpack the truck because it was packed inappropriately-this is ridiculous because the movers packed the truck in the first place! Do not frequent this business as they do not honor their word and try to scam you.

Have used Capital Cartage on numerous occasions for work moving staging furniture. Staff is professional, courteous and most importantly extremely efficient!

I would like the option of no stars because I completely regret using this company. They will damage your belongings and blame you for it. Unless you are prepared to document and video the experience, they will not stand behind their services. We sustained damage on anything of value.

Moving in was much worse than moving out. Some of my possessions were missing. Pieces of furniture were broken or ruined. I dont understand how these people are still in business.

Same story as everyone else. Incompetent and dishonest people.
