Store Manager Kelly was awesome handling a situation I had earlier this evening with an employee. Went in and had a not so pleasant situation occur but after speaking with Kelly, he was able to help me out and really took his time to hear me out on the situation. He even told me a similar situation he was in as a customer himself at another retail establishment and that he’ll do what he needs to do to make sure customer service remains the best including speaking with said employee. Really loved how he handled it, keeping a great reputation for Academy! :)

Such bad management and customer service. It was better when David was around. Barely any employees nobody there to help. Might as well add a self checkout at this point.

Price displays are wrong. Misleading customer service. Arrogant store manager. Will never come back.

A convenient and nearby source for casual sports equipment. It doesnt have the product depth of competitors but is well suited in price, product selection and proximity for families. If you are a hard core outdoor person you should look elsewhere. For family and school sports and outdoor activity, this is your place!

Gun department was very courteous and knowledgeable. The stock of ammunition was moderate. Love this sporting good store.

What!? a store with 9 mm actually in stock!!?? 1 box ammo per gun sale though. Very helpful Place. I couldn’t find the kick boxing balance platform thing… but lots of shoe deals…And like I said… they had sig and Glock 9 mm in stock. And no price gouging. You’d have to be from Texas or Michigan to really understand this anomaly. ☺️

Went to purchase a new putter today. Golf section was unmanned and HORRIBLY DISORGANIZED and littered with trash (see pics)!!! Would spend our money elsewhere, but unfortunately we have a gift card.

I can’t even believe how poor our last two experiences at this store were. Today we were in line with multiple items and the girl at the checkout told us that we should go to another line because it was “almost” the end of her shift. We were literally next in line. Her register light was on. There was no one behind us. We had been standing there for some time and we had multiple items to move to another line. We gathered our items and moved them to customer service, where two baseballs that we had picked up did not have barcodes. The cashier proceeded to tell us that they didn’t have barcodes and simply stared at us, rather than offer any solutions. We told her that we didn’t want them. The last time we were there we were prepared to spend money in their firearms department, but the associate was texting on their cell phone and could not be bothered with helping us. We will take our money elsewhere. I’m shocked we have to beg this place to take our money. Crazy.

Usually short stock, missing items and wrong pricetags. Also, it is not a cheap place to buy pretty much anything.

Unlike Bass Pro who is taking advantage of everyone, especially new gun owners, by marking up ammunition to ridiculous levels, Academy has retained its integrity & is still selling ammunition at reasonable prices. Im sure they benefit because, like me, people often buy other items while there.

I liked everything about the store except for they dont have a veterans discount. At one time they did have a veterans discounts I guess they gave up on us.

Unbelievable experience today at Academy Sports in Flower Mound. We went there to buy a $350 stationary exercise bike for my 95 year old dad. At 95, his cardiologist told him to get some exercise. We found the perfect bike, with arm movement as well. The exercise equipment has a small strap lock to prevent them from being used. Neither the pedals nor the arms would move. Since my dad is 95, he needs to confirm he can use it and verify it is stable enough while peddling. We asked a nice man at the door if he could assist us. He contacted another guy asking him if he could help us. He said NO! He cannot unlock the bike to try it out. We reached back out to the nice gentleman at the door, asking to speak to the store manager. He came over, and we explained our need to remove the strap, if only for a minute, to verify my dad could pedal it before finalizing the purchase. He emphatically said NO! He said Corporate doesn’t allow removal of any straps for customers to test the equipment. (These straps have a three digit combination needed to remove, nothing complicated) I pled with him, asking for an exception for a 95 year old. He again said NO! No understanding, no compassion, no attempt at customer service. We walked out of the store, thanking the nice guy at the door, as we left without making a purchase. We will never purchase here again, and ask you to consider other stores if you would like to receive some semblance of customer service. Who is willing to spend $350-$1500 on exercise equipment, without having the opportunity to test it out? I understand the need to lock the equipment to keep kids from playing on them. That makes perfect sense. What makes zero sense, is refusing to allow a customer the opportunity to try out a substantial purchase before buying it. I own a business. I would never expect my customers to make a purchase without the opportunity to see if what they were going to buy will actually work, will be safe, and will meet their needs. Ridiculous. Kudos to the young man at the door! He was nice, understanding and helpful. Unfortunately, he works for a manager that couldn’t care less about having satisfied customers.

It was a great shopping experience. I love hitting the clearance racks. Today I picked up a @MissionCooling Neck Gator.

The weekend before school starts and they were ridiculously unprepared. The lines were to the back of the store. 2 registers open, a 3rd was open in stealth mode with no light on & nobody trying to help move the line along. While we were in line for about 30 minutes we witnessed numerous families walk in & right back out. Management needs a refresher course on what there job is!!!

Had to wait quite awhile before I I was helped by an associate who had knowledge of my choices in the womens athletic department .

Misleading job posting. Hourly pay says from $11-15 but they say they can only go up to $12 with limited availability? I am available 5 days out of the week! Makes no sense. Apply elsewhere.

This shop is bad to move items around the store often which only serves to aggregate the man in my house.

Definitely my favorite sporting goods store, everything is very reasonably priced and of decent quality, but you tend to get what you pay for if you go off brand. Their store Krebs merchandiseis usually petty good.Sales are usually very good and clearance even better. This particular location has a very helpful and attentive staff, at least in my experience.

The store manager (Richard) is a bully! He was so disrespectful and rude just because I asked him to price an item I purchased. Just very poor customer experience!

Went in today for a bike. Theres next to no inventory, but one of the associates( didnt catch her name, but she was was a tiny lady) was super helpful in letting me know when they expected more, checking other stores... and she found literally the last womans bike for me. Made my day! Ive come here a bunch of times, and their staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you!

Great store with helpful friendly staff. Chris was a big help at the gun counter. One more thing to consider when purchasing a firearm, academy is the only place that has approved me same day everytime.

Sport and outdoor equipment and cloth items. Availability of products is limited and employees are very, very slow and not pro-active to help customers. Prepare to wait at least 30 minutes when you have a (curb) pickup - that should be ready when you arrive...

Great shoes, great prices. Service is so-so and size selection for popular sizes is a challenge but if you know what you want and can spend a little extra time searching for your sizes then its worth it.

Very clean store. I appreciated the sanitation stations. I prepaid for an item online because when I looked it up inventory said only one left. I called to confirm they actually had it. I received the alert it was ready very quickly. Pickup of the item was easy and I didnt have to go search for the item.

I went out of my way to go to academy in a different city cause the website showed an item in stock. Seasoning by Meat Church. The shelves for individuals items were empty yet they did have a verity pack of 4. I noticed the verity pack had the same UPC code as the individuals however the pack of 4 was $35 and individuals were $10. I asked a manager if I could split up the verity pack as I only needed one. Without even acknowledging what I was saying his answer was no. The manager advised that if he did that then he would have to damage out the others. I tried explaining that he could sell them all individually but he would not listen. He had made up his mind and didn’t even show any care or concern and walked off as I was trying to still explain. I love shopping academy and will continue to do business but will never return to the academy in Flower Mound.

Great prices on Sporting Goods. I just realized the tennis racket I bought for my wife it was only $20 here. I just paid 40 on Amazon for it. They usually stop in here to pick up any Nike gear I might need shirts and shoes mostly. Im still using my trail cam I bought here 2 years ago.

Great resource for all things sports

Bob was a huge help when my husband and I were looking for a new pellet grill. We went to two other places and were basically ignored by staff.

I have the hardest time finding shoes that fit my feet. No problem today. Unfortunately it was the last pair or I would have gotten 2 pair.

Everyone asked if I needed assistance and the store was neat. Obviously management has a big part in this. I will make this location a favorite.

My wife and I went in looking for a Playground for my son. John was very helpful and went way out of his way to help us. If it wasn’t for John we wouldn’t have purchased anything. Walked us to the aisle, left to get a scan gun to let us know what was in stock. Got it down in their warehouse and loaded it. Give the man a raise and promotion to Customer Service Operations Coordinator.

Had everything that I was looking for. It has clothes, sports equipment and hunting. It has a large layout with good clearance sections as well if you are looking for a good deal. I would highly reccomend to anyone who is looking for anything sporty or outdoors. Great shop

Academy is finally getting restocked after the run on everything. Like the store no merchandise available. 5 star rating because they still have worms to go fishing.

Staff who work there have no interest in helping customers. There might be some but the ones I have encountered with are no help at all. And this is not only one time experience, it’s every time we go there in this location. If we ask some help or any questions, it’s like we are asking for the huge favor. Most recent experience, I was looking for a kids bike, I found one and asked staff if he could help with taking bike to cashier or stepping it aside as I needed to shop for other items, this gentleman just said ok and walked away.

Was a very pleasant experience buying my first firearm! Made the process a breeze and made everything simple to understand. Make sure to ask if Matthew is behind the gun counter and if you have any problems, James is amazing with customer service!

I love this place. They have great clearance prices on shoes. There are always multiple cashiers available so the waiting times arent too bad. The clothes are a bit over priced for my taste, but they have a pretty wide variety to choose from. Very neat, clean store.

I like this store, but they seem to be carrying less stock on the items I go there to purchase. Also raised price on a pocket knife I bought about a year ago $6. From $29.99 To $34.99 for the exact same knife.

Quiet Sunday afternoon, I went in to order a pair of Converse Sneakers. The young man that greets you as you enter the store was quite helpful. He ordered my sneakers and gave me my oder number. Store looked clean, as it does most days. Employees quite helpful and courteous.

Great outdoor store. Fantastic selection. Super competitive prices. Sometimes will even have a certain model that will be exclusive to Academy stores only.

Management was totally unready for Covid social distancing. Register spacing was nonexistent; lack of checkers and register spacing ensured crowded line. We left $300 to avoid the situation.

The product is excellent! The experience was not! Customer service was rude and followed me around the store as though I was a criminal. Granted it was 8:30 at night and we spent roughly an hour in there buying presents. I asked a sales lady for help finding a certain type of leggings(since she was following me around anyways) i was very kind to her, and we were approached by another associate where he asked her If she was ok she said yes and he proceeded to follow and stand with us! Then when we checked out with over 200 dollars worth of stuff, my husband said have a wonderful night the lady stared at us and with a disgusted and inconvenienced look and said you to. She never smiled once the whole time and was very snappy with us! If we werent pressed for time I would have went else where. 10/23/2019

Always some type of sale going on which is a wonderful thing! Also love their return policy.June 2019- absolutely no issues returning my ecoxgear portable speaker that died on us and we could not revive it despite trying many different things. Luckily the Academy customer service agent got me in and out as quickly as she could which led to little downtime for our pool party jams! Love it :-)

This location usually carries what Im looking for. The store is well lit, clean and the staff are generally very helpful. There is handicap parking available as well as a handicap entrance.
